Hello there, my guys! I'm stuck at home like all, (or most), of you are, and last night I had an idea, a rather stupid one, but hey, it's an idea all the same. What if I made my favorite characters suffer along with me? I know this makes little sense, but I may have made the Coronavirus in Star Wars.
I don't mean to be offensive in any way, I understand how serious this pandemic is, and if I offend anyone I'm truly sorry.
I also want to give a shout out to JimmyPenguin421, thank you so, so much for all your nice comments on my fanfics, and I hope you're doing well and healthy.
As for everyone else, I appreciate all of you, and hope you too are having a safe quarantine. I love you guys, and have a great day! :)
Ahsoka Tano sat up awake in complete and utter boredom. The Resolute had been placed under quarantine just as it was going to make her landing back on Coruscant because of some dumb virus, and she, her master, his master, their admiral and the 501st and 212th were on lockdown in the cruiser for a fortnight. It was still day one.
Her quarters were pretty boring, with nothing but a built in shelf and a cot, which was surprisingly more than she had back on Coruscant. But as far as entertainment went, her room left her with little to do than stare at the ceiling and twirl her thumbs.
On the other side of the wall, though, were her master Anakin Skywalker's quarters, where the man was probably fast asleep. The battle they had come back from had been hard, he looked about ready to fall asleep in the gunship just yesterday. But for Ahsoka's purposes-she bit her lip as she walked towards the vent in between their rooms- she hoped he wasn't.
She felt bad before recalling the countless times he had woken her up at the Temple when she was trying to sleep, whether that be for early training or to solve his own boredom. Then she didn't.
She called into the vent, getting on her hands and knees to reach it on the floor. "Master?"
She pressed her lekku to the vent, maybe his quarters were on the other side, Force she hoped she hadn't just woken Obi-Wan…
But then she heard a groan, in a deep, sleep deprived voice that belonged to her master, no doubt. "Master, are you up?"
There was a pause, and then, "mmm….Snips?"
She flopped on her back, talking into it with a sigh. "I'm bored."
He chuckled, the sound faint and hard to hear. "What'd you wake me up for?" He yawned, and she almost felt guilty.
"Cuz you're my one source of entertainment."
"Oh. Thanks. It's an honor."
"You're welcome. Wanna see if the mess hall has something remotely eatable?"
He groaned. "Urg, fine. But you owe me for waking me up."
"Puh-leez, you wake me up all the time!"
She didn't hear a response, instead his mattress springs moaning and his footsteps. A blast door opened, but she ran to her door, beating him to it. When it hissed open they were face to face, and she shoved him back. "Six feet apart, mister."
He held up his hands. "Sorry," and took a few steps away from her with a tired laugh. They were both wearing light gray sweats with Republic symbols, something the Jedi had become custom to wearing while training. And in their cases, sleeping. Anakin looked a mess, his hair messy and tangled and eyes baggy from a lack of sleep, and Ahsoka frowned, crossing her arms as they made their way through the hallway. If they weren't on strict orders to be social distancing she wouldn't even care, but now that there was a rule against it she really wanted to be able to be closer to him. Hug her friends, shake their hands, anything.
Anakin laughed and her lekku darkened when she realized he had been reading her thoughts. Okay, now she wanted to punch him.
"Master!" She glared at him.
"They were loud, I wasn't trying to!" He defended himself, still laughing. "You should work on blocking them."
"If I could I'd strangle you."
"Lucky me. If this stupid virus doesn't kill me I have something to look forward to."
"Funny." She pressed the button to leave the barracks, and they took a turn to the mess hall. Despite the ungodly time of morning, a few clones were up and about, and they stood and saluted the Commander and General as they walked in.
"At ease, men." Anakin nodded at them, Fives, Rex, Cody and Kix. They were all following the new procedures, and were sitting apart at the tables.
The two Jedi went to a table where Rex and Cody were sitting. "The Commander wake you up, General?"
He nodded and Ahsoka smiled, proud of herself.
"How long are we staying here, again?"
Across the room, Kix spoke before anyone else could answer. "14 rotations!"
Cody groaned. "That long?"
Kix walked up to them. "I personally think we should be quarantined longer, as clones especially. And if we are issued to return to Coruscant no doubt we'll only spread it. The Republic doesn't have enough money or time to deal with clones if they get sick. And for you, sirs, the Temple won't be much better. If we could get more supplies on this cruiser, it would be in much more insolation than Coruscant City. At least most of the ship, I'd avoid the barracks."
Everyone in the room was wide eyed at the sudden information and Ahsoka looked at her master with a cocked eyes brow marking.
"I just wanted to know how long we'd be on the ship.." Cody said.
"Well, there's never too much information when it comes to your health."
"Yes there is, and I think you just passed it."
Kix shrugged, and went back to take his seat.
"Kix suddenly is the most important man on the ship, apparently." Rex laughed. "Being a medic, this whole virus thing has given him quite the ego boost."
Anakin and Ahsoka grabbed some ration packs, sitting alone at a table in the back, Anakin across from her and a few feet away. He kept eyeing her as he ate, and she knew that the distance was starting to get to him. Usually when they ate, most of the time it was breakfast at the Temple, she'd be half asleep, leaning on his shoulder with his arm around her's.
"Don't worry, Master. We'll be back to the Temple in no time."
He scoffed. "That's not exactly what I'm worried about, Ahsoka."
"Then what?" She took a bite out of some slab of meat. "We're both healthy. If you're worried about me, Togruta have a stronger immune system than humans-"
"I know." She never got tired of holding her heightened senses and biological structure above him. It was cute, if he was being honest.
He sighed. "What I'm worried about-"
A sudden voice interrupted him. "Anakin!"
"Uh oh." It belonged to his former master, Obi-Wan. He waved to him, gesturing for him to come talk to him.
"What is it, Master?" He asked with a chuckle.
If Anakin looked bad, Obi-Wan looked about ten times worse. His hair was messy and tangled, a rarity in his case, the robes he fell asleep in wrinkled, his eyelids droopy, and his knees ready to give at any minute. "Can't sleep?"
He shook his head, glaring at the two. "You guys do understand, the vents run through my quarters as well?"
Anakin's cheeks flared red and Ahsoka's stripes turned a dark shade of blue. "Oh, I'm sorry Master Kenobi, I-"
He groaned, rubbing his temples and pinching the bridge of his nose. "It's fine guys, just, try to keep it down? It's 0200 in the morning, and some of us are trying to sleep."
"Don't look at me! This was her idea."
Ahsoka turned on him, and they both broke out fighting. The clones turned their heads, Anakin and Ahsoka were more entertaining then they realized, and Obi-Wan let out an exasperated sigh, retreating back to his quarters for some much needed rest.
Anakin and his padawan stood to throw away the rest of their food, and they said all their goodbyes to the soldiers. "Remember social distancing, everyone!" He said in his general-y voice. "I don't need any of you to get sick."
"Siryessir!" They said in unison.
"And get some sleep!" Ahsoka added, then ran after him as he had already begun to walk to their rooms. She smiled at him. "Thank you for coming with me."
"You're welcome. It was bound to happen anyways."
They walked in silence until at their doors.
"I'd hug you but uh-" He started. "Ya know."
"Air hug." She opened her arms with a smile.
He did too, and they both wrapped themselves in their own arms, it was an okay alternative, but as he grinned at her all she could think of was hugging him-actually hugging him-after all of this was over.
"Sleep good, Master."
"You too, Snips. See you tomorrow, or I guess today."
Ahsoka stepped into her quarters, flopped back down on her bed with her arms still hugging herself. "Day one, complete." She said to no one, crawling underneath her covers and trying to fall asleep.
She could really use a hug.
