"Once upon a time in a happy forest lived the happiest creatures the world has ever known: the Trolls. Two of these Trolls are the heroes of another story. One was named Poppy, the other was named Branch. Together, they saved the world and brought peace between their kind and the Bergens. Poppy became Queen, Branch found his true colors, and the two of them became best friends. What Poppy and Branch didn't know was that their world was a lot bigger than they knew. Like a lot, LOT, LOT, LOTTT bigger! But this isn't just their story... It's theirs, too..."
Under the sea (down where it's wetter, take it from me), bright neon Trolls swam to the ongoing rave. You would be forgiven for mistaking these particular Trolls as our main group. However, despite their similarities, such as their love of partying, these are not the Pop Trolls. Instead, these were the Techno Trolls, an underwater race dedicated to family, love, and music. Passive? Yes. Passionate? Absolutely. Plucky? Most definitely. Such was their nature as the Trolls of Techno, and the leader of this aquatic tribe was the exuberant and positively electric King Trollex.

"What's up, my Techno Trolls?"
The Techno Trolls cheered with applause and enthusiasm, dancing to the beat of the music. Their movements were quick and sudden, often involving their hands and head. Jumpimg was the primary, causing them to act as a large music visualizer. Their fins and hair were utilized less because they were allowed to freely flow to the beat. Men, women, and children of any and every age joined in on the fun. Young Coral Blush was one such Troll, babbling happily as he danced to the music. His parents were mere inches away, overjoyed with the thrill of the rave as much as their son was. Eventually, Coral joined his right hand with his mother's left and his left hand with his father's right as they lost themselves in the flow of the underwater beat.
"Tonight is about family, love, and music! Come on! Let me see you jump! 1, 2, 3, 4!"
Like his fellow Techno Trolls, Coral jumped to the rhythm with his parents providing assistance. A few feet away, Bliss Marina watched her King work his magic on his mixer. Her smile growing larger than before, Bliss laughed in bliss and ecstasy as she jumped around. The minute the next command was spoken, she gasped in delight and held her breath tirelessly in anticipation.
"And get ready for the drop! You ready, little buddy?"
"Let's do this, King Trollex!"Techno Beat Drop Button responded with eagerness.
"Wait for it...!"
"Come on...!"
"Wait for it...!"
"Yes...?"
"Wait for it...! Wait for it...! Wait for it...!"
"Come on, man! Hit me!"
"Just do it already...!"
Bliss was surprised at her tone as much as the Techno Trolls beside her were. Fortunately, it would seem that King Trollex heard their pleas all too well and let the beat drop just like that. A sudden vibration of musical euphoria came along with it, feeling the audience with a sense of satisfaction. Bliss whooped as loud as she could just so Trollex could know that her (and the others') desires were fulfilled.
However, her joyous expression soon gave way for concern that mirrored that of her king's. Tilting her head in confusion, Bliss turned toward the direction Trollex was facing and her face was one of horror. It was a large, black-skinned creature that gave a red glow and an accompanying aura of menace. Though the happy, carefree music was blaring throughout Techno Reef, it was slowly becoming nothing but a series of distant echos.
What is that...?
The music was shut down the moment she thought of that question and she turned back towards the crowd, who groaned in disappointment at the absence of their radiant tunes.
"Don't worry, everybody! We'll get back to the party in a minute! Let me just take care of this real quick!"King Trollex reassured everyone before swimming off to confront the party crasher face to face. Everybody watched and quickly saw the giant vessel approach their kingdom. The front zipped open to reveal the interior that housed its blood radiation and a large black stereo.
"What's going on?"
Trollex turned to find Bliss and Beat Drop Button following behind.
"I... I don't know."
Bliss could tell that her king was putting on a brave face. In her opinion, Trollex was winning so far.
"Hey, man!"
The two of them faced what appeared to be another Troll, except she didn't look like their Trolls. Instead, her main color palette was a blend of red and grey. Her hairstyle consisted of a single strip of red hair styled upward resembling a sea urchin; both sides of her head were shaven. Her left ear had a missing tip and a single earring while her right ear had two...earrings. Her outfit (if one could call it that) was a torn-up white tank top, black leather bottoms, a pair of spiked bracelets, and fishnet stockings with a rip on the right knee. A black guitar (again, if one could call it that) was slung over her back and she flashed a smile that gave a faux friendly demeanor.
"There he is! King Trollex of the Techno Trolls, right?"
"That's right," Trollex nodded in agreement, "Who's asking?"
"Queen Barb...of the Hard Rock Trolls," the "Hard Rock Troll" known as "Queen Barb" introduced herself. Trollex shrugged towards Beat Drop Button, as if this "Hard Rock" concept was entirely new to him. Bliss followed suit as she had not the faintest idea of who "Queen Barb" or what "Hard Rock" was.
"And I'm here to take your string, bro," Barb continued on regardless as she unslung the guitar from her shoulder to play a note before glancing toward the king expectantly. The Techno Trolls also mirrored her actions with high anxiety.
"Oh, don't do it, man!" Beat Drop Button urged his ruler.
"No way," Trollex shook his head in defiance, "If we lose our string, we lose our music."
"Oh, you mean your...bleeps and bloops?" Barb mimicked the music seeminly without regard for the Techno Trolls' culture. If anything, she seemed to mock them as a form of intimidation. "Yeah, that's not music."
"It is to us!" Bliss snapped, threatening to get into this Queen's face had Trollex not held her back. "Who do you think you are?"
"The one who will show you all what real music is. Do you wanna hear it?" Not hearing no for an answer, let alone yes, Barb smiled deviously. "Rockers!"
Suddenly, more and more of the large vessel appeared in smaller versions, surrounding the nearby area and rightfully frightening the Techno Trolls. Coral Blush was hugged by his father while his mother stood in front of them as the "Rockers" prepared to rock. Trollex, meanwhile, stood in front of Bliss and Drop Beat Button, still donning that brave face of his. However, cracks of uncertainty were beginning to show beneath the act. Even he couldn't hide that he (along with the rest of his kind) were greatly afraid yet slightly curious towards this new musical genre. They watched as these "Rockers" produced black guitar picks emblazoned with a white skeleton out of thin air...and unleashed their Hard Rock music onto them all.
("Rock You Like A Hurricane" - Scorpions) [Cover By Rachel Bloom]
First, the drums built the anticipation much like Trollex did when hyping the crowd. The beat was violent and boisterous, however, making the Techno Trolls fearful rather than feverish. One such exception, though was little Coral Blush, who could only smile in delight and interest over the presence of this new music. Next, the guitars made an admittedly smooth transition into the piece, working in tandem to create a hard-hitting introduction. Then, Queen Barb screamed at the top of her lungs to signify her attendance, unintentionally scaring the Techno Trolls half to death.
Here I am!
Rock you like a hurricane...!
Here I am!
Rock you like a hurricane...!
King Trollex, Bliss Marina, and Drop Beat Button had to admit that was one heck of a song buildup, even if this Hard Rock musical genre was way too harsh and brutal for their tastes. However, it wasn't completely obtuse, as their eyes widened at the first verse and pre-chorus. Little did they know, it would only get worse from there.
My body is burning, it starts to shout
Desire is coming, it breaks out loud
Lust is in cages 'til storm breaks loose
Just have to make it with someone I choose...
Was...was she referencing sex and riqsue material in her lyrics? Why, the nerve of her! This isn't real music! Plus, there were kids in the audience! Highly inappropriate of her!
The night is calling, I have to go
The wolf is hungry, he runs the show
He's licking his lips, he's ready to win
On the hunt tonight for love at first sting...
Sex, lust, and wolves?! What kind of music was Hard Rock? Trollex, Bliss, and Drop Beat exchanged horrified and appalled looks with each other.
Here I am!
Rock you like a hurricane...! (Are you ready, baby?)
Here I am!
Rock you like a hurricane...! (Come on, come on, baby!)
Even so, the trio couldn't deny the fact that the Rockers in question were producing red energy surges simply by playing their instruments. Now this caught their attention quite well.
It's early morning, the sun comes out
Last night was shaking and pretty loud
My cat is purring, it scratches my skin
So what is wrong with another sin?
Committing sins and cat scratching...? Okay, this Hard Rock Queen had some serious issues when she was a kid...or she could be possibly insane.
The girl is hungry, she needs to tell
So give her inches and feed her well
More days to come, new places to go
I've got to leave now, it's time for a show...
She... She did not... Trollex and Bliss covered their mouths in utter shock while Drop Beat's jaw hung agape as far as it could.
Here I am!
Rock you like a hurricane...!
Here I am!
Rock you like a hurricane...!
Here I am!
Rock you like a hurricane...! (Are you ready, baby?)
Here I am!
Rock you like a hurricane...! (Come on, come on, come on, come on)
Here I am!
Rock you like a hurricane...!
Here I am!
Rock you like a hurricane...!
Finally, Queen Barb produced with her guitar an energy surge so powerful that it sent the Techno Trolls flying and split Trollex's LED castle in half, but not before Trollex himself pushed Bliss and Drop Beat out of the line of fire. One half stood standing and will do so by the end of the day, the other half sunk down to the bottom of the sea far, far away. Watching in horror as his home and citizens were directly put in harm's way, Trollex turned towards Barb, who wore that damned smug grin on that face of hers.
"Okay, okay! Enough! Stop!" Trollex pleaded with her, "You're harshing the vibe we've worked very hard to built to!"
"Oh, don't you worry, Trollex," Barb falsely reassured him, "By the end of my world tour, we're all gonna have the same vibe. We're all gonna be one nation of Trolls...under rock!"
Bliss was just fed up with this so-called Queen of Hard Rock. Picking up a piece of nearby debris, she held it high above her head as a means of preparation before tossing.
"Oh, yeah? Well, rock THIS!"
And toss it, she did. Caught off guard, Barb only had time to leap out of the way to avoid the debris hitting her. Instead, the slab of hard rock (pun intended) struck the main drummer, knocking him unconscious.
"Riff!" Barb called out for him in urgent distress. Turning toward the culprit with a angry scowl, she then turned toward her fellow rockers, who were just as furious as her. "Take care of her! The rest of you, round up the others and find me the Techno String!"
One half of her group donned black-and-red scuba uniforms and swam towards the damaged reef, the crowd beginning to panic and disperse out of fear of getting caught in the crossfire. In the ensuing chaos, Coral Blush was separated from his parents, who cried out for their son as they were taken by the rockers. Luckily, Bliss snatched him up and fought back against the rocker Trolls who tried to abduct him. Trollex and Drop Beat followed soon after, the former shielding the latter as he fought alongisde her.
"Bliss, what were you thinking?"
"You said so yourself, my King! Techno is our livelihood! We've worked too hard to build it! And now, this so-called Queen of Hard Rock thinks that she can take it away from us just like that?"
"Well, no. To be far, though, you probably shouldn't have started a fight, either."
"True. We need to get out of here."
The both of them were suddenly grabbed ahold of and dragged out of the battle before it could take an even worse turn. Pulled up towards the surface world, they both landed at the shore, holding Coral and Drop Beat close as they recovered.
"You two okay?"
Trollex and Bliss glanced up at their savior. It was a blue-skinned Techno Troll with pink hair, purple eyes with matching eyeshadow, and a pink Good Luck Gem on her belly button, strangely substituting the pink heart on her chest.
"Yes, thank you! Who are you though?" Bliss helped up Trollex to his feet.
"I was assigned to recruit you, King Trollex, for my ruler's army to help stop Queen Barb."
"But... I'm your ruler, and I'm not building an army to help stop Queen Barb."
"Well, you're not my ruler. Queen Poppy of the Pop Trolls is."
"Queen Poppy? Of the Pop Trolls?" Trollex frowned in uncertainty. "Who are you really?"
In a flash, the "Techno Troll" reverted back to her original state: A so-called "Pop Troll" with light pink eyes, hot pink skin, and bright orange hair. Her skin was distinguished by left and right cheek sparkles complimented by a bright blue nose while her hair, held up by a light purple hairtie, was quite thick and frizzy. Her primary outfit was a top with blue, purple, white, and yellow stripes accompanied with a pair of matching trousers. Her main accessories were a pair of pink, blue, and white headphones constructed from yarn and a pair of pink, white, and yellow bracelets on both of her arms. The sight of her made Trollex feel...funny. In a good way, mind you.
"The name's Suki... DJ Suki."
