Young Justice: The Division Chronicles

Happy Harbor, Rhode Island

Happy Harbor High.

But one stood amongst the tide, staring up at the sky. He is a brunette in his mid-teens. His attire is a white shirt, blue suede jacket, and jeans. Slung over his shoulder is a single strap bag. The teenager is staring up at the flag.

"Yesterday," Nathan Palmer said. "We get up, eat, go about our day, eat, go about our day, eat, go to sleep and repeat. Just a simple boring life in the land of the free and brave."

Nathan's smile faded and became replaced with a frown as the scene shifted. Nicholas became a few years older and now wore a black shirt, fireman's pants, a safety mask, and a fireman's helmet. Anyone can assume he was a firefighter if it weren't for the combat gear, the go-bag with a brick-like device on a strap, and the assault rifle in his hands.

The once pristine high school is now in ruins. Windows are smashed and walls desecrated. The source of heat came from a bonfire in front of Nicolas.

"Today," Nicolas stared at a burning pile of dollar bills. "Thanks to a slip of paper, we live in a land of fear and anarchy."

Nicholas' head snapped up as he heard shouting. He saw two civilians running from three men armed with flamethrowers.

With a snarl, Nicholas lifted his rifle and opened fire on them.

A red-haired reporter stood among a crowd as she watched two men lift the golden gate bridge. She wore a suit and held a camera to take pictures. The reporter smiles as the crowd cheered for the superheroes. Superman and Martian Manhunter saluted before they flew off.

"Yesterday," Carolyn Ashley said as she lowered the camera. "We had heroes who protected us and keep the peace."

The scene shifted again. Where once stood a reporter now stood a fierce woman in a sleeveless blue hoodie, jeans, a go-bag, and combat gear. Her hair is undone and cut to chin length. A small scar trailed over her eye. In her hands is a light machine gun. She was glaring at the TV showing a bald man denying any involvement in the outbreak.

"Today," She said with a low growl. "Thanks to one man, they weren't there when we needed them most."

She smashed a fist into the TV, cutting the feed. Then she heard the sound of glass being cracked behind her. Carolyn turned to find three masked men attempting to sneak up on her. The keyword 'attempting' as one of them stepped on glass. So much for subtlety.

Without hesitation, Carolyn aimed her LMG and fired a barrage at them.

At a basketball court, a teenager dribbled the ball as he ran. He wore a basketball uniform caked in sweat and high-tops. When he reached the goal, he jumped and slam-dunked the ball into the basket.

"Yesterday," Frank Choi said, never taking his eyes off the ball. "We could play and have fun."

The scene shifted to him kneeling in front of a circuit box. His hair is trimmed to a short cut and his clothing is neater. He wore a blue shirt with a white plaid pattern and green cargo pants. On his neck is a phoenix tattoo.

"Today everywhere is a battlefield," Frank spoke as he fiddled with the wiring with his gloved fingers. "And everything is a weapon."

He finished soldering the wires and shut the panel. Frank shouted into his comms, "It's fixed! Power it on and fire away!"

The turret he fixed came online. It turned to the helicopter attacking the base of operations and fired SAM missiles. They struck the helicopter and it was sent spinning to the ground. Smoke rose to the sky.

Frank picked up a rifle and charged to where it crashed. His work wasn't done yet.

On a crowded street, one teenager walked on the road. His hair is blonde and neatly kept. He wore a red academy uniform and glasses. His blue eyes stared straight ahead, ignoring the world around him.

"Yesterday," Alex Wayland spoke without breaking his stride. Nicholas, Carolyn, and Frank walked up on all sides. "We were civilians."

The scene shifted as they became their older selves. Alex now wore the same gear as his compatriots, right down to the orange wristwatch on his right arm. He wore a black beanie and a black jacket. In his hands, he held a submachine gun.

They walked down a ruined street, to where a crowd of people is fleeing from men with guns. The four people raised theirs in turn for the battle about to unfold. Together, they said five words.

"Today, we are The Division."

Another Fanfiction about the Division. In this AU, Lex Luthor had restricted even the Justice League from preventing the New York outbreak. Nor were they aware of it, details will be explained later.

I would like to put a call out to all Division Fans as this is also a fic for them. Please, for the love of everything, keep making crossovers with the Division. There is a lot of potentials to explore, like Resident Evil. Just a heads up, I'll also make a teaser for that.

Let me know if this should continue. Thank you for reading!
