2 days.

2 days since they came into this world, they had absolutely no luck obtaining a Pokémon, they tried catching one, but without having one to fight with it and weaken it, they had no chance catching one.

Nick and Max were staying in the tent, they at least had money for food and a place to sleep, but they knew it wouldn't last forever.

Earlier in the day they were eating in a near restaurant, the restaurant had a TV airing the news, there were cases of wild Pokémon acting up and becoming more aggressive with some subjects having glowing red eyes, it seemed really scary.

Max already was sleeping, and Nick was getting ready to sleep, but he heard a sound, it was coming deep from the forest, that wasn't new, but there was this…. presence that was calling out to him, he headed out of the tent and went into the woods.

He brought his backpack with him and headed towards the deep forest, he knew exactly where the presence was, like it was guiding him, the more he got closer the stronger it felt.

He arrived near a tree where he saw an Injured Riolu!

"Riolu's aura intensifies to alert others if its scared or sad." Nick thought

Nick gasped, he starting heading towards the tree, when he saw a figure heading towards the Riolu, it was a…Gyarados?!

But it looked weird, he had growing red…eyes! It must have been one of those wild Pokémon from the news!

It must have been the one who injured the Riolu.

The Gyarados retracted back as to prepare to launch forwards into the Riolu.

Nick knew what was going to happen and quickly headed towards the Riolu, picked it up, and ran as fast as he could to his tent, the Gyarados smashed into the tree and took flight after Nick.

Nick went through thick trees running as fast as he could, with the Riolu on his arms, he then carried the Riolu on one arm and lean it on his body like a baby to grab something out of his backpack.

"This better f'#%&*g work!" Nick shouted

He arrived near the tent and turned back to face the Gyarados who was still following them and pulled out a Poke Ball.

He threw it towards it and the Gyarados was 1 inch away from his face when it got covered in a glowing red light pulled into the Poke Ball.

Nick picked up the Poke Ball and threw it with all his might into the sky, landing somewhere deep into the forest.

"Oh my Gosh…" he sighed kneeling down putting the Riolu in the ground, it was injured pretty bad, he pulled out 3 potions and sprayed it all over its body.

The Riolu groaned in pain and slowly opened its eyes.

Nick was relieved to see the creature alive and well, he didn't want to try to capture it, the poor Riolu must've been scared out of his mind.

The Riolu was now sitting on the ground, light-headed and regaining consciousness.

Nick realized the Riolu was probably going to try to kick him in the face, so he went towards the tent.

The sacred Riolu looked at Nick as he walked away and the blue dog went back to the forest to go into his hideout.

Nick was proud of himself for saving a life.

Nick entered the tent and was met with a worried Max.

"DUDE, where were you?" Max questioned

"I was out, I saw an injured Pokémon and healed them." Nick responded

"Did you capture it?"

"Nah, it was attacked by a wild Pokémon, I felt bad for it, they were scared"

"Whatever, I just wanna sleep…"

Nick got ready to sleep again and Max was already knocked out

The Riolu went back to its hideout, only to find it destroyed, the Gyarados destroyed it and hit the Riolu multiple times until they got knocked onto a tree.

The Riolu didn't have anywhere to go, they were scared.

They heard a growl from deep into the forest, it was a Gyarados cry.

The Gyarados must still be out there, the Riolu needed somewhere to hide.

The Riolu remembered the human who saved them, didn't seem to be hostile or evil, he didn't try to capture them and healed them.

They ran back to the human.

They arrived to the tent and tried to find a way inside, there was no way to enter.

"Ri, Rio!" The Riolu cried out.

Nick heard the cry and opened the zipper to the tent.

"Riolu? What happened?" Nick questioned.

The Riolu entered the tent quickly and hid behind Nick.

"Are you hiding from the big scary fish?" Nick questioned.

The Riolu nodded

"Don't worry, nothing can get in here, I'm not going to capture you, you can stay as long as you like" Nick assured them petting their head.

"Ri Lu!" Riolu replied happily and sat down in the tent.

"I'm going to sleep, you hungry?"

The Riolu nodded.

"Well we already ate the vegetables and ham we bought for the sandwiches, but I did make a PB&J sandwich for later, I was full so I didn't eat it, you can have it" Nick said as he reached on his backpack to pull out a sandwich on a plastic bag.

The Riolu examined the food and took a bite "O RIU!" they happily replied.

"Pretty good huh? It's not healthy but tomorrow I assure you you'll have a good breakfast."

"Ri" The riolu stood after finishing the sandwich and put its hand together and leaned down, like as to say thank you.

"Huh, no plob, didn't know you had manners, come on let's go to sleep" Nick said as he laid down.

He felt Riolu climb and lay down like a dog on top of him.

"Night"

"Lu"

Nick didn't know if he could consider the Riolu his Pokémon but for now, he'll take care of it until they find somewhere to stay.
