"Go to the school dance!" His new friend Megan said. "It'll be a fun normal experience!" She said.

The dance had been fun, he never went to any when he was a high school student. And Megan, who wanted to help him have the normal kid experience he generally skipped out on since going to SFIT (unintentionally harmful or not), offered to take him to her school's dance.

It had been going so great, they were laughing, having fun dancing. Hiro was having a blast!

Then he looked in the corner of his eye.

And felt his entire body spike up with nerves.

"You okay?"
"Yeah, all good." Everything was NOT all good because in the corner of Hiro's eyes, he could see High Voltage.. Yes, you heard him. High Voltage was just casually at the school dance. He was surprised none of the other students recognized the mother-daughter duo of crime dancers. But it was probably a blessing in disguise considering their usage of electricity could kill someone if angered!
"Are you sure?" Megan's concerned tone of voice brought him back to reality and out of paranoia. "You look really pale."
"I'm fine." Hiro lied, he had to keep calm until the other's arrived. He glanced down at his phone to read their responses when he quickly texted in all caps "High Voltage at the school dance."

Gogo: Are you kidding me

Wasabi: WHAT?!

Honey Lemon: We'll be there ASAP!

Fred: No supervillain ruins my friend's first school dance! NOT ON MY WATCH!

Their confident and reassuring replies made him feel a little better. Now if only I can convince Megan that everything is fine.

"If you're not feeling okay, it's alright that if we leave." Megan told him. "I probably shouldn't have pushed you into a big event like this so I'm alright with leaving-"
"Megan I'm feeling fine!" He cut her off. "Seriously, I'm all good."

But apparently, it was not all good because as he glanced over to High Voltage from the corner of his eye, his slightly raised volume had caught the attention of Juniper.

He felt the paranoia and chilling feeling in his chest return tenfold as the crime-dancer was staring at him and Megan. There was a strange look on her face he couldn't identify, but he felt it wasn't good. Please look away please look away please look away.

And the feeling got worse as Juniper released her grip of the student she was dancing with and started walking over. In their direction. Hiro had never felt so scared in his life. This is it. This is how I'm going to die. at my first and only dance. To try and distract himself he tried turning to Megan, who had no idea of their impending doom and was enjoying the song being played over the speakers. Calm down Hiro, maybe she'll just walk past us?

No such luck for the teen genius. As the moment he felt a hand poke his shoulder it took all his willpower not to freak out and bolt from the dance dragging Megan along for good measure.

Hiro turned around. And bristled with terror as he made eye contact with Juniper. "Uh.. Hi." She had nervously waved. But Hiro wasn't buying it. She's just waiting for me to get my guard down and then she'll strike! Why else would she and Barb show up at the same dance I'm going to. In reality it was far-fetched since High Voltage wasn't on the list of villains that knew his secret identity, but his paranoia was kicking in full swing tonight.

Megan was brave enough to greet her. "Oh, hi there!" She smiled at the crime-dancer. "I don't think I've seen you around the school before, are you new like me?"
"No, not really." Juniper shook her head. "Wait you're new?" She stared at Megan, then to him, then back at Megan. "Huh."

It was too suspicious for him. "Why do you ask?" He tried keeping his angry tone down. But it was still heard as he got a glare from his friend.

"Hiro! She's just asking." Megan huffed. Oh great, now the crazy lightning zapper knows my civilian identity. "Oh, I haven't introduced myself, I'm Megan, and this is my friend Hiro. He doesn't go to this school I just brought him along."
"Same." Juniper chuckled, then her eyes widened. "I mean uh. I don't go here either I-I was just brought along. Heh." She nervously chuckled, her face turning a light shade of pink for some reason. "So, are you two here.. together?"
"Yes?" Hiro frowned. "Clearly we went as a pair." What the heck kind of mind game is she trying to pull?

"I meant as a couple. Y'know, dating?"

He almost choked on air, his mind screaming "WHAT THE HECK?!" So loud he almost didn't hear Megan's chuckle and response.
"Oh no, we're just friends!" Megan had a more calmer reaction than him. "That's kind of a weird question to ask though."
"Sorry." Juniper sheepishly apologized. "I just thought that.. Someone as pretty as you would already have a date to an event like this."
Hiro turned to the crime-dancer and gawked at her like she just grew a second head. What the hell?!

"Aww that's sweet of you." Megan smiled. "But I'm still single, my dad tends to chase away any potential suitors, y'know. Parents, amiright?" They both giggled at the small joke.
"I'm Juniper by the way." The crime-dancer introduced. "Ni-nice to meet you Megan."

"Nice to meet you too." And he felt his friend nudge his shoulder. "See? Looks like we made a new friend at your first dance." Megan teased. "Not a bad night after-all!"
"Yeah. Sure." He rolled his eyes, he noted the slight gesture of Juniper giving her mom a smile and a thumbs-up, and Barb who was watching the trio in the corner of her room smiled back and nodded. It was a strange gesture because he couldn't find any malicious intent on their faces.

The others could not get here any sooner.

Luckily for him and Megan, they didn't have to spend much more time talking to Juniper because she excitedly walked back to Barb and then the others finally showed up. And everything went downhill when High Voltage somehow mutated into eel monsters. He felt somewhat bad for the two since it seemed it was against their wills, but Hiro was more interested in knowing who was the cause for such mutations.

Megan, on the other hand. Would occasionally bring up the strange moment of Juniper walking up to them even weeks after the whole incident! Not out of disgust or anger, but of curiosity and... sadness? "It was nice to talk to her for a few moments, shame I didn't get to talk to her more." She'd say something like that, and Hiro just told her that she was being crazy. Because she was!

And after that lunch hangout, he was venting to Gogo about the whole thing since he had no idea who else to talk to about crazy bug going around.

"It's completely crazy!" Hiro rambled. "I thought I was going to die when she walked up to us, and why the hell did she ask if me and Megan were a couple?! The hell?!"

Gogo merely raised an eyebrow. "You okay Hiro? It's been a few weeks since the dance and you're still harping on about it?"
When she put it like that, it did should like he was the one who lost his marbles. But the whole thing was stressing him out! "I just... I don't know why Juniper did that. And also she said Megan probably would have a date to the dance because she was 'too pretty.'" He gestured with air quotes. "Is she trying to psyche me out or something?!"
"Considering neither she or her mom don't know our identities. Probably not." Gogo shrugged. "Wait she called Megan what?"
"Pretty enough to get a date. And also asked if we were dating." Hiro repeated. "What's the big idea?"

"Hmm."

"What's the look for?!"

Gogo narrowed her eyes. "Remember when Honey Lemon's ex boyfriend Andre showed up last week? And I asked if he and Honey Lemon were going to get back together?"
"Uh-huh." He nodded.

"Well, I asked that because I really like Honey Lemon, and uh.. It would be a bummer if she was taken by the time I confess my feelings." There was a slight blush on her face.

"Wait did you just confess you have a crush on Honey Lemon?" Hiro flinched when seeing her angry glare. "Ah! I promise I won't tell her!"
"Good." She nodded.

"Wait...that sounds really similar to what Juniper said at the dance.." Hiro mumbled, not noticing Gogo's smirk. "If you said that stuff to Andre because you had a crush on Honey Lemon..then she said that stuff because.."
And then it hit him.

So hard.

"SHE WAS CRUSHING ON MEGAN?!"

"Mystery solved." Gogo sighed, having a more mild reaction to his sputtering.

"Wha-WHAT THE HECK?!" Hiro exclaimed. He had several questions running around his mind at that moment. Shock and mild horror was what he felt right now.

"Hopefully your friend doesn't have a crush back, that'd be a problem."
And that comment from Gogo caused him to panic even more.

AN: Soooo... hehehehe

If you were wondering what kind of Big hero 6 rarepair ship I enjoy...now you know...PLEASE DO NOT SET ME ON FIRE I SWEAR I WRITE THIS SHIP AS WHOLESOME AND HEALTHY.

I'm sweating as I'm posting this, hopefully y'all like me enough not to start a witchhunt?

Anyways a few people who've read Heroes of Flowers (brace yourselves when I get to this scene in the fic) who've also seen the one-shot drabbles I've posted about this on Tumblr kind of guessed what direction I was going bc of that. And thought since some of my following is aware of what ship I like I thought "yolo" and would post a small drabble to entertain the idea to people.

And if you can't see the ship being a thing, there's a bit of Honeygogo (kind if) at the end and I was having a kick at writing Hiro being dramatic.

So enjoy! Have a good week. Stay healthy out there and please don't start any witchhunts...people have come up with worse things in the tags ;-; Like shipping Hiro with his ADULT friends and his ADULT brother (bleeuuugh)

At least I respect the legal age of consent when it comes to shipping!
