SAKURA AND VERSACE
01
SOMETHING NEW
Sakura felt odd just standing on the side of the baseball field but she had a job to do. That didn't stop the nervousness that coursed through her veins. This was different from when she had to interview smaller children from different clubs, these were boys. Tallboys with broad shoulders all stuffed in baseball uniforms. As someone with little to no experience with the opposite gender, it was mind racking.
But she sucked it up, put her big girl panties on, and waited quietly for the baseball team's captain to make his way over to her.
Sakura watched patiently as the boys darted around the field until the bell rang and they dispersed. Several threw her confused looks, no doubt wondering why she was out there, which left her on edge even more. If they were confused, no doubt the captain would be as well. Slowly the captain and what Sakura could only assume was his friend. She stood as they got closer, her little notepad and pen in her hand, "Naruto Namikaze?"
The blonde one stops, his eyebrows raising into his hair. "Yup?"
"Hi, I'm Sakura from the school newspaper. Do you mind doing an interview with us?"
The black-haired one gives off a scoff, uninterested and obviously annoyed by her presence. Sakura doesn't allow it to get to her if she could deal with the rest of the senior class, she could deal with him. At least Naruto was nice enough.
"Yes of course!" He says happily, long arm moving to scratch the back of his neck. His smile is infectious and Sakura's own lips pull into a soft smile. "Ne, save me a seat Sasuke?" Sasuke rolls his eyes, "Hn." before walking back towards the school. Naruto was not in the least bit disturbed by his friend's attitude, "Don't mind him, it's the stick up his ass."
Sakura gives a nervous laugh, "Yeah of course- uhm- the library fine?"
Naruto nods, "Lead the way."
Naruto looks around the library as if he had never been in there, to Sakura the library was one of her favorite places. It was peaceful and one of the quietest places in the school, as someone who did the research for anything she wrote, reading and understanding was fundamental. She did her best work in there. Sitting at an open table, Sakura dropped her things and flipped open her notepad. "So, uhm, if you feel uncomfortable or just don't want to continue, ok?"
"No problem, Sakura-Chan." Naruto smiles again and Sakura looked back down at her notes, he had a really pretty smile.
MOON RIVER
Her lack of social interaction was biting her in the ass, and Naruto was looking at her as if she was demented because of it. Sakura had been stumbling over her questions for nearly ten minutes, having only gotten past her first three questions, she felt demented.
"Ne, Sakura-chan, are you ok?"
Her tongue ties in knots and Sakura nearly cries, this was embarrassing, even for her. "I'm sorry, I just-
"Nervous, I'm making you nervous."
The hammer hits the nail over the head and Sakura sighs, heat blooming over her cheeks and neck. The boy next to her drops his head into his palm, blonde spikes falling over his eyes. "I can help you with that you know, the nervousness."
Sakura looks at him only to look owlishly, "Huh?"
"How bout' we make a deal? It'll be good for both of us"
Sakura was tempted to pack her things and leave Naruto where he sat. She was far from a gambler and her luck wasn't the best but the strange glint in the baseball player's eyes made her stay put.
"I really just need this interview-
"And you'll get it," Naruto says happily, "but you won't get a good interview if you're nervous around me, would we?"
Sakura choked on her tongue, "No- I mean-
"Great," Naruto fishes in his pockets before pulling out his phone, it's slick and orange in color. Sakura wrinkles her nose, what was he doing?
"I have practice after school until four but I'm free after that. We'll go for ramen together."
"W-What?!" Sakura watches as the librarian throws her a dirty look at her outburst, "I just need the interview, and what about the deal?"
"Even more reason to join me!" Naruto chirped, eyes flinging up when the bell rings signaling the end of their lunch period. He doesn't wait, gathering his things and standing up from the table. "I'll see you in the parking lot, yeah!" He throws over his shoulder as his waltz out of the library.
Sakura stays dumbstruck in her seat before the bell rings again , now she was late to class, great.
