"Are you fucking kidding me?" Hazel hissed, careful not to disturb any of the expectant guests. "I'm in fucking pajamas!"

"Calm down," Annabeth attempted to soothe her, her eyes darting around the venue. "Piper will be here any minute."

As if on cue, the brunette came running into the tent.

"I'm here," she cried. "I'm here, and I have the dress!"

"Oh, my god," Hazel breathed in relief, her heart still beating wildly in her chest. "Well—" she looked to her bridesmaids, "help me get this dress so I can go marry the man of my dreams.

"Aweee," Piper sang, hugging the dress close as she allowed romanticism to overtake her.

Annabeth opened her mouth to hurry the process along but Hazel beat her to it, her golden eyes blazing.

"Yes, very romantic." Hazel rolled her eyes at the brunette. "Now get this dress on me before I fucking strangle the two of you."

Annabeth and Piper sprung into action, the two of them working to fit the fuming bride into her wedding dress. They helped her tug it up her body. It fit perfectly—thank god—and it looked flawless—well, almost, but there was no need to tell Hazel that.

"You look incredible," Annabeth cooed, taking a step back and smiling broadly at her friend. "You are the picture of a blushing bride."

"Really?" Hazel asked breathlessly. A grin slid across her full lips, momentarily erasing the morning chaos from her mind.

"Absolutely," Piper nodded, reaching out and squeezing Hazel's shoulder. "Frank is the luckiest guy alive."

"I'm so excited," Hazel exhaled unevenly. "I don't want to not be married to him for another second!"

She looked down at her gown, her hands sliding delicately over the soft fabric. Her gaze hardened as it caught on the small red stain on the fabric near her waist. Hazel heard Piper gasp and brushed the spot with her fingers, noting the small imperfection in the stitching.

"What is this?" Hazel questioned with a slight frown, hoping she was imagining the discoloration.

"What's what?" Annabeth deflected, the smile on her face straining to remain in place.

"What is this?" Hazel repeated, pointing an accusing finger at the small mark on her dress. "Why is my dress fucked up here?" Her eyes flashed as she trained them on the suspected party.

"It—it's just a tiny little spot of blood," Piper began rambling. "Jason got a bloody nose and—and there is also like a tiny tiny bit of mustard but—"

"What?" Hazel roared, no longer controlling her fury. Annabeth jumped to quiet her as Piper continued.

"—and it ripped a little so its sewn back up but—"

"Piper, shut up!" Annabeth commanded, staring at the brunette with wide eyes.

"Okay," the brunette agreed, her chest rising and falling rapidly as she watched Hazel curl her fingers into tiny fists.

"I fucking hate you—both of you!" she exclaimed. "And where the fuck is Calypso?"

"So anyway," Annabeth shrugged, stabbing rather aggressively at the lettuce on her plate. "That's what my life has consisted of for the past few weeks." She sighed, glancing up at her friend. "How have you been?"

"Well," Hazel licked her lips, a shy smile gracing her lips. "You know how Frank and I have been talking about the future—"

"Hazel," Annabeth inhaled, her lips pursing angrily. "I've already told you. If he doesn't want to commit then it's his loss. You're fucking amazing and should be with someone who realizes that—"

"He did," Hazel cut in.

"He did what?" Annabeth clarified. She furrowed her brow, eyeing her oddly as Hazel began to fan herself. "What are you doing? Are you feeling okay?"

"Feeling perfect, actually," Hazel giggled, moving her hand even slower as she waited for the blonde to notice. "Beyond perfect even—"

"Are you sure?" Annabeth pressed. "It's not hot in here, it's actually quite cold—holy shit!" she exclaimed loudly at the sight of the dazzling sapphire ring on Hazel's finger.

"I know!" Hazel concurred, her lips splitting into the widest grin Annabeth had ever witnessed.

"He proposed?" Annabeth asked loudly though she was fairly sure she already knew the answer.

"Yeah," Hazel squealed. "It was perfect—everything was perfect—he's perfect."

"You have to tell me everything," Annabeth demanded, reaching forward and grasping her friend's hand to peer down at the engagement ring.

"Of course," Hazel grinned. "But first, I have to ask, would you be my maid of honor?"

"Did you get the save the date?" Piper questioned, precariously balancing the phone on her shoulder.

"Haven't checked the mail," Annabeth responded. "Why?"

"No reason," Piper yawned, placing the phone on speaker as she reached her room, throwing herself down on her bed. "It's just pretty. Very tasteful."

"You called me to tell me the wedding invite was tasteful?" Annabeth laughed.

"No," Piper sniffed, staring up at her ceiling. "It's just that—well, do you think everyone is going to be there?"

"You could always ask you know, it's not like Hazel doesn't know—"

"I know," Piper sighed. "But it's her day, I don't want to make it about me."

"Yes." Piper could hear the smile in her voice. "He'll be there. If that's what you're wondering."

"Have you heard from Calypso?" Piper asked, trying not to grin so broadly that Annabeth might be able to tell.

"No," Annabeth said simply, inadvertent spite creeping into the simple word. "But we've never been all that close. Why?"

"She called me this morning," Piper revealed. "I think she was surprised that she was asked to be a bridesmaid."

"What makes you say that?" Annabeth questioned.

"She—uh—told me," Piper explained. "She said 'I'm surprised I was asked to be a bridesmaid.'"

"Oh."

"Yeah."

"Well, you know Hazel," Annabeth reasoned. Piper heard a weird rustling against the phone and assumed the blonde was shrugging. "She's always had a soft spot in her heart for Leo. I think she just wants her to feel closer to the group now that they're together—especially after—uh—everything."

"Hm," Piper agreed. "Everything."

Seven Months Before The Wedding

October 14nd, 2018

Brooklyn, New York

6:00 pm

"So," Percy announced with a grin. "We have prepared a presentation for you today demonstrating several viable options."

"I see that," Frank blinked incredulously, staring up at his friends who were standing before a PowerPoint that read Frank Zhang's Bachelor Party 2019.

"No matter what you decide, we will totally respect your decision," Jason assured, looking extraordinarily serious. "But personally, I think the fourth option is going to be a great fit."

"Agreed," Percy nodded vigorously, before moving onto the next slide.

"Before we begin," Jason explained, gesturing to the blank slide behind him. "We want to assure you that each of these options will fulfill the five essential B's of a bachelor party."

"Bros," Percy started, pointing finger guns at Jason.

"Boobs," Jason added, returning the gesture.

"Booze," Percy continued, pointing the guns at Frank this time. He fought the urge to roll his eyes.

"Bitches," Jason extended, mirroring the movement.

"And your best man," Percy finished, pointing to himself.

They had clearly rehearsed this.

Percy switched the slide.

"Option one," Jason declared, motioning to the oversaturated picture of Las Vegas accompanied by awesome written in what Frank was convinced was Papyrus. "Two weeks before the big day, we fly to Vegas. The boys are at it again, running it back like we did in '99."

"We were five years old in '99," Frank pointed out.

"Sounds better than 2015 though, doesn't it?" Percy returned. "It's beside the point," he dismissed with a wave of his hand. "We're in Vegas and things are—"

"AWESOME," they both broke out in unison.

"No sleep—bus—club—club—another club—plane—no sleep—"

"Guys," Frank cut in, not sure how much longer he could sit through this. "I can tell you guys worked really hard on this—" he began with the voice he usually reserved for children who walked into the clinic.

"We did," Jason nodded, sticking his nose into the air. "We love you very much."

"It's true," Percy maintained. "And our love for you was imbued into this presentation."

"And I want to assure you that I appreciate how much effort went into this—"

"Of course," Jason scoffed, glancing sideways at Percy. "Who wouldn't?"

"We're your best friends, Frank," Percy furrowed his brow. "We love you and Hazel more than you love each other."

"I mean, I wouldn't go that far—" Frank chuckled but found himself silenced by his friends' solemn expressions.

"I would," Jason contradicted, his hands clasped over his lap.

"We want to make this day special," Percy promised. "There will be time for comments and questions at the end."

"I—how many slides is it?" Frank sighed, relaxing back against his couch.

"Forty-four," Jason sniffed before turning back to Percy, gesturing for him to skip the slide. "Anyway, as we were saying—"

Six Months Before The Wedding

November 1st, 2018

Laurel Heights, SanFrancisco

12:03 pm

"Do you think Luke will be your plus one?" Calypso questioned, running her hands over the various fabrics.

"Why wouldn't he be?" Annabeth asked, frowning. "He's literally my boyfriend."

"Not figurative," Piper echoed somewhere deep in a dress rack.

"What?" Annabeth blinked, thoroughly confused by the entire conversation.

"Okay," Hazel exclaimed rushing over, holding several lavender dresses in her arms. "What do you guys think of these?!"

"I mean, based on my current estimation," Calypso began, narrowing her eyes at the garments. "They're purple."

"What?" Hazel looked shocked, staring down at the dresses. "No, of course not. They're obviously lilac."

"I happen to have a good eye for color," Piper began, smirking. "What with my ever-changing eyes and all—"

"That doesn't seem relevant," Calypso returned.

"And this is so not important," Hazel dismissed, shaking her head. "Now just go try them on."

"Fine," Piper hummed, smiling sweetly as she received the dresses, skipping off to the dressing rooms. Annabeth and Calypso turned to follow.

"Wait!" Hazel stopped them, her gaze flicking to her phone before glancing back up at them. "I invited Nico."

"You invited Nico to come shop for bridesmaid's dresses?" Annabeth clarified, raising a brow in disbelief.

"Yes," Hazel answered. "The guys are planning everything in New York, and I wanted him to feel like he was part of the wedding without having to get on a plane so—" She shrugged.

"I think it'll be fun," Calypso grinned. "He's gay, isn't he? He's probably great with fashion."

"That seems like a not okay assumption to make," Piper reasoned, pursing her lips and furrowing her brow as she faced Calypso.

"You've never met Nico before have you?" Annabeth laughed knowingly.

"No—but—"

"Oh, this is going to be fun!" Piper squealed.

Hazel just sighed, receiving a glass of champaign as her wedding party scrambled into the changing rooms.

As it turned out, the errand did indeed become more fun once Nico arrived.

"Horrendous," Nico scoffed, turning his head and refusing to look at the dress any longer. "Send it back."

"He's right," Hazel agreed. "I wouldn't be caught dead seen in that—much less walking down the aisle in that."

"You're not walking down the aisle in—" Annabeth reasoned.

"Bride!" Piper interjected, slapping the back of the blonde's head in shock and pointing to Hazel. "Never contradict her."

"True," Nico hiccuped, reaching for his fifth cup of champaign. "Bride rules."

Annabeth rolled her eyes. "Sorry," she muttered.

"You're forgiven," Hazel harrumphed, crossing her arms across her chest and staring up at her. "But only because I'm in an exceptionally good mood now that Nico is here. So you should direct your thanks his way."

Nico lifted his chin, watching her expectantly.

"Thank you, Nico," Annabeth ground out.

Piper clapped behind her.

"Your welcome," Nico nodded, then waved his hand at her. "Now get that lilac monstrosity out of my sight."

"Lavender!" Calypso repudiated.

"Bride!"

Five Months Before The Wedding

December 15th, 2018

East Village, New York

11:49 am

"Are you sure you don't need any help?" Frank asked, sympathetically. "Because I could always take a few days off work—I'm sure the dogs and cats of New York will survive—"

"No, no," Hazel laughed. "I think I can manage a cake tasting by myself—unless there's another reason you want to leave?—besides your undying love for me, of course."

"Okay yes." Frank let out a tired sigh, tilting his head in an effort to keep his Percy and Jason in his sights. "They're driving me crazy—it's like babysitting a pair of four-year-olds on a sugar high—no, Percy, put that down."

Percy's head whipped around. This, he mouthed to his friend, looking scandalized.

Frank nodded, pointing the heart-shaped vase in his hands and then to the display where he'd taken it from.

"But it's a love vase—" Jason tried to argue.

Frank opened his lips to contend, his phone still pressed to his ear when Percy's diplomatic drawl cut him off.

"No," he agreed. "Frank's right—it's his wedding after all."

Frank shot the dark-haired man a suspicious glare. Jason glanced between the two of them looking confused.

"You shouldn't have let them come," Frank groaned to his fiance, careful to keep an eye on Percy who had continued browsing

"Funny," Hazel remarked with a chuckle. He smiled at the sound. "I do remember suggesting that."

"Yes, but you should have demanded it." Frank turned his back to his friends, picking up a set of Christmas themed cloth napkins with disdain. "Besides," he continued, "I don't think it was a good idea to plan our registry around Christmas time. At this rate, we'll end up with a hundred nutcrackers—and if Percy and Jason have any say in it, the nutcrackers will be themed."

"What's the theme?" Hazel questioned.

"Trust me," Frank muttered, putting the napkins back. "You don't want to know."

He turned back to them just in time to see Percy glance back at him before quickly whispering something in Jason's ear. He vaguely registered Hazel gigging as they both took off in different directions.

Frank watched them go without moving. He sighed heavily.

"I don't know how we used to spend every second together in college," he mused.

"Hormones?" Hazel offered.

"That and beer."

"Well," Hazel announced. "If it's any consolation, I've been having fun."

"Really?"

"Mhm," she hummed. "Watching Annabeth bite her tongue in front of Calypso has been surprisingly entertaining."

"Oh my god," he lamented. "I wish I was there to see that."

"I wish you were here too," Hazel softened, her voice going quiet. "But we'll be together soon. It's just a few months."

"I know," he couldn't help the grin that spread across his lips at the thought. "I still miss you though."

"Me too—"

"Oh my god—not again—sorry, I've got to go—"

"Nutcracker emergency?" Hazel guessed.

"Something like that—I love you—Jason—"

Four Months Before The Wedding

January 27th, 2019

Laurel Heights, SanFrancisco

9:35 am

"So," Leo looked around excitedly, "does this mean I'm officially invited to the bachelorette party."

"No," Nico rolled his eyes. "It means they didn't want me to be lonely as the only male at their girl's brunch—which let me remind you, I don't need to be at—"

"Ridiculous," Hazel shook her head. "I want you here."

"Well," Leo sniffed, glancing at all of them with a wide smile. "I'm honored to finally be invited. Calypso's always telling me how much you have—I was starting to get FOMO."

Annabeth snorted.

"Calypso!" Piper brightened abruptly. "I've been meaning to ask, Annabeth and I are going furniture shopping tomorrow if you want to come? I know you've mentioned wanting to get rid of that old dresser."

Annabeth appeared to have stopped moving, her mimosa halfway to her mouth.

"Um," Calypso paused, her eyes darting nervously around the table. They seemed to catch on the frozen blonde.

Leo placed his hand over hers under the table, calming her twitching fingers. He gave her a quick reassuring squeeze.

"I'd love to," Calypso smiled finally, warmth filling her body at his touch.

"Nico!" Hazel said suddenly, turning towards her half-brother. "How's that love life going? Are you going to have a plus one?"

Leo looked grateful at the change of pace.

"The wedding is in May," Nico said dryly, raising an eyebrow. "I hardly know who I'll be dating four months from now."

"But I thought you said—" Piper began, frowning at him, but she was cut off by Leo's unmistakable ringtone.

"You should really change that," Annabeth remarked as the chorus of Hips Don't Lie grew louder.

"I like it," Calypso piped up with a small smile.

Annabeth exhaled, though Piper noticed it sounded rather broken.

"I mean," Leo inclined his head with a sly smirk, the music still playing. "My hips don't lie so—"

"Just answer the phone," Hazel demanded, suppressing a grin.

"Helloo," Leo sang, pulling the phone to his ear.

"Leooooo," Percy's voice erupted over the phone.

Annabeth flinched from across the table.

"What are you doing right now?" he asked.

"Chilling with the bitties," Leo drawled.

Piper choked.

Calypso kicked him under the table.

"Ow!—sorry, I'm getting brunch with the girls."

"Mimosas?"

"Always."

"Awesome."

"I'm going to the bathroom," Piper announced at the table, momentarily drawing Leo's attention away from his call. "Wanna come?" she asked the table though it was very clearly directed at Annabeth.

"Oh, is that Piper?" Percy asked over the phone, but Leo wasn't really listening.

"No," Annabeth said simply, crossing her arms across her chest.

"No," Piper disagreed. "I think you're going to come." She looped her hand around her friend's elbow and pulled. The blonde fell out of her chair with a strangled yelp.

"Piper," she hissed. "What do you think you're doing—"

"Is that Annabeth?" Percy asked then, and Leo had to work very hard to ignore the obvious change in his tone.

"No," Leo lied, turning his attention back to his phone as Piper dragged the blonde away. "As much as I love hearing your voice," Leo commented, silently excusing himself from the table. "Is there another reason you called?"

"Awe," Percy mocked offense. "Don't want to catch up with your old roommate?"

"Maybe another day," Leo shrugged. "Bottomless mimosas end at eleven, and I'm determined to get my money's worth."

"Smart," Percy noted. "Anyhow, I'm calling to find out your size. I'm ordering tuxes—trying to get a discount—"

"You couldn't have texted me about that?" Leo questioned. "You're going to want it in writing anyway."

"Easier to do over the phone," Percy returned quickly as if he'd expected the question.

"You texted Nico—"

"I—I just thought you'd want to hear from me," Percy said, but Leo could hear the guilt creeping into his voice

"Just remember to be nice," he sighed. It's still not easy for her lingering on the tip of his tongue, but he swallowed it back.

"Aren't I always?" Percy sighed, sorrow bleeding into his breath.

"Just try."

Three Months Before The Wedding

February 8th, 2019

Bushwick, New York

8:03 pm

"Luke—" Annabeth's irritated voice rang out.

"Still dating Castellan then, huh?" Percy questioned, holding the phone to his ear as he picked at his cuticles.

"Percy." Her voice turned curt, a familiar animosity bleeding into her words.

He smirked. He'd always liked the way his name sounded on her lips.

"How long did it last this time?" he inquired, deliberately sounding tired.

"I don't see how that's any of your business," Annabeth replied tightly. "I'm assuming you're calling because of the wedding."

"Of course, my dear," Percy drawled. "Why? Were you hoping I was calling about something else?"

"I sent you a timeline of what we need to get done over the next few months, did you receive it?"

"If you're asking if I received the drab looking excel sheet that appeared in my inbox a few days ago, then yes," he mocked.

"Well, did you look at it? I can only assume that's why you're calling."

"I could be calling for some help with my dog."

"Oh, because you aren't enough of one yourself?" Annabeth scoffed.

Silence.

"Was that meant to be clever?" Percy deadpanned, furrowing his brow. "You know I actually own a puppy, right?"

She sighed. "Why did you call me, Percy?" she asked, something tired in her tone.

"The bridal suite," Percy said simply, suddenly discouraged. "I'm assuming you've been brainstorming.

"I'm assuming you haven't."

He rolled his eyes, pursing his lips.

"Actually—I thought they would like that hotel in Napa." He toyed with the fabric of his pillow, unable or unwilling to acknowledge his desire for her approval. "It's where they spent their last anniversary—and you know Frank, he's always had a bleeding heart for that kind of stuff—"

"That's—actually a really good idea," she admitted, her voice softening.

He could practically feel her begrudging smile.

"Not so oblivious after all."

As soon as the word left his mouth he knew he shouldn't have said it.

"I'll book the hotel," Annabeth said, her tone icy and sharp. "Goodbye, Percy."

She hung up before he could return the sentiment.

Two Months Before The Wedding

March 2nd, 2019

Pacific Heights, SanFrancisco

9:39 pm

"I'm assuming you got the invitation," Nico questioned, his chest tight with something he yet wasn't willing to admit.

"Most people did," Will agreed, his voice broken by the poor reception. "Is there a particular reason you're asking?"

"I—" Nico stuttered, ignoring the way his heart was beating. "I don't know—I just—" He stared at his phone. It was laid flat on his coffee table.

"If you're calling to ask if I'm bringing a date," Will extended, amusement twinkling in his words. "Then I think—or hope—that you'll be pleased to hear that I won't."

"Oh."

Nico stood up, his legs straightening as if of their own accord. He inhaled, resisting the urge to fist-bump the air, then exhaled and desperately hoped it didn't sound too eager.

"Mhm," Will hummed. "Anything you'd like to add?"

"I—uh—also won't be bringing a date," Nico added awkwardly, sitting back down.

"Lovely," Will responded.

Nico swore he could hear a smile in his voice.

"Anything you'd like to add?" Nico countered, pressing his lips together in anticipation.

"I'll see you there?" Will shrugged.

Nico's heart sank. He wasn't sure what he'd been expecting, but it hadn't been that.

"Okay," he muttered, reaching to hang up the call. "Bye, I guess—"

"Wait, Nico—" Will began. Nico glanced up at his voice, hating the hope that filled his chest at the sound of his name. "I—yeah—bye, I'll see you at the wedding."

"See you," Nico agreed before hanging up the phone. With a loud groan, he let his head fall back. He dug the heels of his palms into his eyes, knowing full well they'd end up talking before then.

One Month Before The Wedding

April 16th, 2019

Bushwick, New York

7:04 pm

"Have you told them?" Hazel asked, laying back against her bed, the sound of Frank's voice lulling her into repose.

"No," he said and Hazel thought she heard his shake his head. "I don't think Percy will take it well."

"What about Jason?" Hazel inquired, biting her cheek.

"You know him," Frank shrugged. "He's always been one of those positive thinkers—perpetually looking on the bright side. I think he'll be happy for us."

"That's good."

"What about you?" Frank returned. "How do you think Annabeth and Piper going to react?"

"Annabeth will act happy for us. She'll put a strong front and then call us crying in two weeks," Hazel chuckled good-naturedly. "Piper, on the other hand, she'll actually be happy for us. And then she'll cry with joy for a week, and then cry with sorrow for another."

"We really get the best of both worlds then," Frank laughed.

"Lucky us." Hazel echoed the gesture.

"And Calypso and Leo?" Frank questioned.

"They're really happy," Hazel smiled. "And they want us to be that happy, but they might go crazy without us—especially if things with Annabeth don't improve"

"Maybe this isn't such a good idea—" Frank began with a sigh. "If you don't want to—"

"No, no," Hazel cut him off sharply. "This has been your dream since college. Our friends will be happy for us—even if it takes them a bit to get used to the idea of us being a thousand miles away."

"I can't wait to see you," Frank beamed.

"I can't wait to be married to you," Hazel grinned.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

a/n: heyyyyyyy, sooo, I know you guys are going to kill me but like here I am, at it again with another story. I am just getting wayyy too bored in quarantine and this idea has been bouncing around my head for a while so I thought I'd just put it on paper. Anywayyyy, here we go again.

This story should be similar in length to dumb luck, maybe a bit longer, and like basically, it revolves around Hazel and Frank's wedding. You'll kind of get a feel for where everyone's at relationship-wise. But in case it's confusing, everyone went to college together except Will and Nico. The rest, I hope will be explained through the story, but lmk if yall end up getting confused still and ill just explain. Also, characters are prob a little ooc.

I promise not to get too distracted and stop updating my other stories. This one will probably get updated a little less frequently than FB and LoS. Anyway happy reading.

iCiao!
