Cara was tired, she knew her time had come, and was contemplating her life. At eighty years old, there was nothing left in her life but aches, pains, and the chronic-depression/autism combo she had been diagnosed with way back in grade school. Even though she was relatively intelligent, she wasted her gifts, whiling away the hours wishing for adventures in other worlds; she had basically spent more time dreaming up fantasies than she had spent living in reality. Sure she had gotten a job, eventually; but it was a boring job with a boring company. At least she hadn't had to deal with people much. People annoyed her. Point is, she was consistently miserable even though she lived reasonably well, and in her mind, had no real reason to be depressed which really only made her more depressed. Her only real comforts were her hobbies; gaming, watching anime, reading, and making up stories she would never share. Cara could feel herself dying (finally!) and decided to hurry up with her inner monologue. When she thought about it, all she had ever really wanted out of life had been to have a goal, a reason to live. Her only real regret was that she never got to the ending of One Piece because Oda took so damn long. Huffing in amusement before closing her eyes, Cara prayed to the universe that if she was reincarnated, her next life would have somebody to give her a purpose (she didn't give a shit if that someone was mortal, R.O.B., or whatever the hell else the universe could come up with). Actually, if she could have that Gamer power from that one Korean webtoon, that would work too. Would probably work better actually, the quest log could tell her what her purpose was so that she could avoid people entirely. Smiling one last time, the lonely old woman passed on in peace. And thus; on January 29, 2079, Cara's epic journey finally began.
After waiting a while, for her consciousness to dissipate (or whatever the hell happened to the recently deceased, she didn't have any fucking clue) Cara got bored and opened her 'eyes', or whatever equivalent her soul possessed, and saw a glowing golden text box before her.
GAME OVER
The box said in big, black letters. Further down, in the box's second half, was written, in slightly smaller print,
CAUSE OF DEATH: OLD AGE (80 years 10 days)
SCORE: INFINITY
FINAL RESULT: YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN
Cara just floated there in the void a while, unable to process this turn of events. She hadn't done anything with her life; seriously, what the fuck did she ever do to score infinity and be chosen by the universe for something? She reached out with her imaginary fingertip and touched the box to close it. Immediately afterward, another box appeared. The text in this one was much smaller and went on much longer than in the previous box. An annoyingly happy tune started playing. Cara just sighed and settled in to read the text.
"Hello puny mortal, I am the Trans-Dimensional Multiverse, the entity that rules everything that ever has, does, and will exist. You will call me TDM for short.
Frankly, you never really DID anything to deserve this. I was just bored, so I picked a random soul out of the infinite amount out there to be my mortal vic- err... vessel of entertainment. I don't really need any other reasons because I literally make the rules for everything ever. Lucky You! So that your puny mortal soul won't disintegrate, I have come up with an adjustment plan that will be efficient and, more importantly, fun! The rundown is that you will be given the power of The Gamer and forever reincarnated in various universes. Bonuses will keep unlocking until the beginning of your fifth life, when you will have reached what I call 'Godmode'. That means you will have complete access to the system, will not age if you don't want to, and will basically be a god in mortal form. Don't forget to be entertaining! xD"
Cara dismissed the box, deciding to wait until her first life started to actually process the implications of simply being entertainment for a Random Omnipotent Being. Gamer's Mind would help with that. 'Welp, this will probably be cooler than an eternity in Limbo (budget hell) or whatever.' The next box appeared.
INITIAL SETUP
CONFIG
OPTIONS
CONTINUE TO CHARACTER CREATION
'What the hell is the difference between config and options' she wondered. Then the handy dandy tooltips appeared. Apparently, CONFIG was basically just options that would last until Godmode. OPTIONS was generic game stuff she could change from the menus later. She went through CONFIG first. She set passives to toggle, and set infancy to fast forward. As for OPTIONS, she really didn't care all that much right now, so she skimmed them for any interesting ones, and ended up only changing her UI style.
Now she was on to character creation. She took one look at the world choices, and decided there were waaaayyy too damn many options. She chose the 'Random Known World' option and hit NEXT. 'Noblesse first huh, interesting.' Then came the race, origin, and appearance options. She ended up choosing to be an enhanced human, with the origin set to 'Random' and 'Important to the Plot'. As for appearance, she never was good at mental imaging, so she rolled random on that too; her only criteria there were 'Female' and 'Not Ugly'. She selected GENERATE CHARACTER and closed her eyes.
AN: I know the first life is Noblesse, but I'm going to start off with the fifth life, the FF7 One Piece crossover, and have the rest in flashbacks. Will mention sex eventually, no lemons though. Will take suggestions for lives 2-4. And yes, I do actually have depression and autism, so don't get offended because I mentioned it.
