Hello everyone! So, this is my first attempt at a one-shot. I always try and start these and then feel like I must expand them. But for once I was able to just make it a one-shot. Hope you all enjoy it! Feel free to leave reviews and expect more Perlia from me in the future!
The song used is 'Girlfriend' by Avril Lavigne.
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the PJO series nor any of the characters within. I simply admire it from afar.
Hey! Hey! You! You!
I don't like your girlfriend,
No way! No way!
I think you need a new one.
Thalia really didn't have any problems with Annabeth, she may as well be a little sister to her. She truly loved the girl as family. Despite that, she couldn't help but grit her teeth every time that she and Percy interacted, and inevitably, started fighting. They just didn't match up: sure, as friends they balanced one another out, kept each other alive on quests. But as a couple, they weren't made for each other. He was carefree and happy and free. She was serious and grumpy and always too busy for him.
That had sparked today's fight, her never being around. Thalia had been sitting in Percy's cabin, talking and laughing with him when an Iris message came through to him. She tried to excuse herself when she saw it was Annabeth but he asked her to just stay in the cabin. So she did. So she was then witness to the fight they had. It had started when Percy had just asked her about when she might come and visit camp. What Annabeth apparently heard was 'Are ever gonna leave what you think is an important job as Architect of Olympus, which isn't, and come visit me which is more important?'
So, they had argued, Percy the entire time seeming confused as to why his perfectly reasonable question had made the grey eyed girl go off. When it was all said and done, he and Thalia had ended up back on his bed. This time though there were no smiles, no happy laughter. Just the head of Percy resting on her lap, her hand going through his hair to calm him as he questioned what he had done wrong. She always told him the same thing: that he had never done anything wrong.
Hey! Hey! You! You!
I could be your girlfriend.
The two of them had grown closer since Thalia had left the hunt (he often asked why, she only ever told him half the truth). It was Annabeth herself who said they were so alike it was scary: stubborn, prideful and loyal to a fault. Destined to be either the best of friends or worst of enemies. They had both said best of friends.
Hey! Hey! You! You!
I know that you like me,
No way! No way!
You know it's not a secret.
Hey! Hey! You! You!
I want to be your girlfriend.
The chemistry between them had always been there, and Thalia knew it wasn't just her who felt it. The times when during sparring matches his face would flush before they even begin to duel as she stripped to a just a tank top or all the way to her sports bra. The times when they would spend just those few seconds longer than necessary keeping one or the other pinned to the ground. Hands lingering when they didn't need to when helping the other up, or brushing dirt off the other.
Those were moments she loved, and she knew he did too. Whenever they were together (which had become most of the day now) things were easy. She had seen the flashes in his eyes, of affection that was meant for more than just a friend. She knew he saw it in hers as well. They never did comment on it, but it was always there. Just below the surface.
You're so fine
I want you mine
You're so delicious
Now Thalia may have been a hunter, but she never had anything against men. With that in mind, she could freely admit that Percy Jackson was damn hot. She was more than happy to be able to explain her flushed face away as heat from the sun whenever he shed his shirt as they would spar. Or whenever they went to the lake or beach and she would watch from the shore as he moved through the water.
I think about you all the time
You're so addictive
Don't you know what I could do to make you feel alright?
Thalia couldn't help that he always seemed to be on her mind. The two were all but joined at the hip during the day. It would be natural for her to think about him often. About how his smile, whether crooked or straight or anything in between, always made the day shine brighter. About how his sea green eyes would sparkle near the ocean. About how he would wrap an arm around her shoulder when she was cold to share warmth. About how they could just sit in one of their cabins and talk about anything, nothing ever held back. About how when they were alone sometimes, she wanted nothing more than to pull his lips down on hers and-
Yep, all perfectly normal thoughts to have about just one of her best friends.
Don't pretend. I think you know I'm damn precious
And hell yeah, I'm the motherfucking Princess!
I can tell you like me too, and you know I'm right
Everyone else treated Thalia like she was indestructible, like nothing could ever get to her. But never Percy. He knew that just like anyone else, she had breaking points. He was one of the only people to ever see those moments. She always tried to hide away when they came: she would wait until the dead of night and sneak to an alcove of the lake that no one else could possibly know about.
Of course, Percy knew about it though.
She had nearly jumped out of her skin when she saw him swim up towards her. Neither said anything, nothing needed to be. He just moved to be next to her and placed an arm around her shoulders. Nothing had to be said, because his eyes gave it all away to her when he looked down at her and smiled.
She's like, so whatever
And you could do so much better
The camp was buzzing that day when she woke up. She had hardly stepped from her cabin when a fellow demigod had come up to her. Words had spilled from his mouth so quickly that she almost hadn't caught it. But only a few mattered and she had managed to catch those.
Percy. Annabeth. Breakup.
Her feet were moving before she even knew where she was going. It wasn't too much later that she found herself at their hidden alcove. He was sitting there, arms wrapped around himself, looking smaller than she'd ever seen him before. He must've heard her approach, she hadn't been exactly stealthy as she stormed her way through the forest, but he hadn't so much as flinched.
Now it was her arms around his shoulders, hugging him from behind as near silent sobs racked his body. She only had one thought as she pulled his body into hers: he deserved so much more than this.
I think we should get together now
And that's what everyone's talking about!
It was hard going the next few weeks: his eyes seemed so much duller, his smile less bright than before. Through it all she was there for him. Naturally, the rumors started flying. Never mind that they had been together all the time before he and Annabeth had broken up, never mind that they were like this for the longest time. They always made sure to stay just quiet enough around her and Percy that they couldn't quite hear it, but both felt the extra eyes, the quiet smirks, even some knowing looks.
Thalia herself didn't mind them thinking that. And call her crazy, but she could almost say that neither did Percy.
Hey! Hey! You! You!
I don't like your girlfriend
No way! No way!
I think you need a new one
Annabeth had come back to camp nearly a month after they had broken up, and asked for him to take her back. She had apologized, said she made a mistake, that she had just been so overwhelmed with work. To Thalia, the only thing that was true was that she had made a mistake. Percy had just looked at her, his eyes sad and shook his head no. Then he walked away. Annabeth had made to follow but Thalia stopped her, glaring at the daughter of Athena.
"I think you've hurt him enough already."
The glare she sent at Thalia would have sent most people running, but she simply glared back harder. After a few seconds Annabeth backed down, retreating to her own cabin. It didn't take long for her to find Percy; he had left enough room beside him so they could both sit comfortably on the sand. She did just that, their shoulders touching as they looked out over the water.
"Almost thought you might go back to her."
The words are bitter in her mouth and sound it as they leave. Percy turns to look at her, and for the first time in a month, that smile is lighting up the world again.
I can see the way, I see the way you look at me
And even when you look away I know you're thinking me
I know you talk about me all the time, again and again
She can feel his eyes on her more often now, that affection that had been more buried is front and center. She can't deny it feels good to know he looks at her. Even when he looks away, she can tell his mind is still on her. His body shifts to her presence, he knows when it's her hand on his shoulder or over his eyes or on his leg.
His friends, who are really hers as well at this point, have started dropping less than subtle hints to her that Percy had been talking about her a lot. She had caught pieces of conversations as she walked up to them: her name seemed to be very common in them. Percy's red face when she flashed him a knowing smirk told her everything.
So come over here, and tell me what I wanna hear
Or better yet make your girlfriend disappear
I don't want to hear you say her name ever again
She could tell he wanted to, she could see the temptation in his eyes whenever he would have her pinned in a sparring match, but he never acted on it. To be honest, it was driving her up a wall: couldn't he just for once notice the signs she was sending him and fucking kiss her or something?
But Thalia was patient: she knew Percy had taken a long time to do anything with Annabeth, so she would wait. After all, it couldn't take that long, right?
Hey! Hey! You! You!
I don't like your girlfriend
No eway! No way!
I think you need a new one
Another month passed and Thalia's patience was officially running out. They spent every minute they could together, one of them would wake the other up and neither would leave the cabin of the other until curfew was less than a minute away.
Yet he did nothing. So finally, Thalia decided to.
Hey! Hey! You! You!
I know that you like me
No way! No way!
You know it's not a secret
Hey! Hey! You! You!
I want to be your girlfriend
It was after curfew, it was even raining (which wasn't supposed to happen in camp but whatever) and despite this, Thalia found herself marching up to the door of cabin three. It was stupid, maybe even a bit desperate on her part to do this, but she was through waiting. She stomped her way up to his door, the rain soaking through her clothing fully and knocking hard on his door.
In a second you'll be wrapped around my finger
'Cause I can, 'cause I can do it better
There's no other
So when's it gonna sink in?
She's so stupid
What the hell were you thinking?
Percy answered the door quickly, having clearly just thrown on a shirt because it was on backwards, only boxers on his bottom half. Riptide was gripped in his right hand, the sword softly glowing.
"Thals? Wha-"
Her lips were on his before he had a chance to finish his thought, Percy stumbled back, from shock or from the fact she had just thrown herself at him she wasn't sure. For an agonizing second Percy didn't respond, and Thalia almost thought she'd gone too far. Then she heard Riptide clang to the floor, felt his arms wrap around her back, felt his hands tangle in her hair.
Hey! Hey! You! You!
I don't like your girlfriend
No way! No way!
I think you need a new one
Hey! Hey! You! You!
I could be your girlfriend
With a flick of her foot the door was closed behind her with a click. A good thing too because suddenly her back is against the door and Percy's tongue is brushing against her bottom lip. She opens her mouth and their tongues are exploring each other's mouths. Her hands move from his hair to under his shirt, raging her nails over his chest and drawing a groan from his throat. His hands don't stay idle: moving from her hair to her back then to her butt, squeezing tightly and making her mewl happily.
They separate for need of air, a string of saliva still connecting their tongues. They caught their breath silently, their eyes heavy with affection and lust.
Hey! Hey! You! You!
I know that you like me
No way! No way!
You know it's not a secret
Hey! Hey! You! You!
I want to be your girlfriend
"So, does this mea- are you and I-"
"Shut up Kelp-Head"
With that she pulled him back down, their lips melding back together with ease. He responded quickly, his hands back to her butt immediately but this time lifting her up. She wrapped her legs around his waist, allowing him to carry her away from the door and towards his bed. Her hands weren't idle though: they ran over his abs, clawed at his back, wrapped around his neck for extra support.
Percy laid her on the bed, following immediately as his lips latched onto her neck, nipping and sucking and licking. Quiet moans escaped her lips as she yanked at his shirt trying to get it off him. In a flash Thalia flipped the two of them, reattaching her lips to his in another heated kiss. Now it was Percy's hands that pulled desperately at her shirt.
With great effort Thalia pulled herself out of the kiss, now straddling his waist and looking down at him with hooded eyes. His eyes were the same as he looked up at her, chest heaving. Neither said anything: everyone had said they were so similar after all, and both knew exactly what the other wanted.
Shirts hit the floor, followed by Thalia's bra. Thalia's pants were next, then her panties and finally Percy's boxers. Neither got much sleep that night, and neither wanted any.
Hey!
The two woke slowly the next morning, bodies tangled beneath the sheets. Near noon Thalia finally lifted her head up from Percy's chest, her electric blue eyes immediately meeting Percy's sea green ones. The two smiled and he pulled her into a kiss, this one much slower and sweeter than the ones from last night. They separated after a few seconds, both their gazes full of affection.
"Yes Kelp-Head, this does mean we are dating."
Percy just laughed and wrapped his arms around his Girlfriend.
