Chapter 1: Destiny Changed
Hey everyone I'm back with a new story. This one was an idea given to me by ShadowUzumaki55 with my own twists and turns to make it exciting. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.
On the outskirts of the South Pole, a small ship was heading towards it. Onboard was a man steering the ship with a look of pride and determination on his face. This was Zaheer.
As Zaheer looked to the shore he saw a camp had been set up.
Docking Zaheer jumps off and walks over to see three individuals emerging from the camp.
One was a man with long black hair and Earth Nations clothes, a woman with long black hair with the back part in a bun and a man with long brown hair, both wore Water Tribe clothing. These were Ghazhan, Ming-Hua and Unalaq.
"About time you showed up." Ghazhan said as Zaheer walked over.
"Sorry got tangled up in a little business on the way over." Zaheer said as they shook hands. "Did you find the tribe?"
"Of course, it's the one my stupid brother lives at." Unalaq scoffs.
"Still have that sibling rivalry I see." Zaheer smirks.
"Where's our last member?" Ming-Hua asks as a woman with black hair and an eye tattoo in the middle of her forehead wearing Fire Nation clothes. This was P'Li.
"Right here and our next recruit." P'Li said as a small boy barely 4 years old with black hair walking out with her. This was Koji.
"Daddy." Koji said running over and hugging Zaheer.
"There's my little boy." Zaheer smiles hugging him.
"You brought your kid?" Ghazhan asks.
"Like I would make him stay home when such a momentous day is upon us." Zaheer said bending down on his knees to look his son in the eyes. "Koji, mommy and daddy are about to create a new world. One where you will grow up free. Nothing will ever tie you down."
"Can't I come with you?" Koji asks.
"No sweetie we must go alone." P'Li said.
"We'll rest here for tonight and launch our attack before the sun rises." Zaheer said.
"When you wake up. We'll be back." P'Li said rubbing Koji's head.
As they all went to rest Unalaq was eyeing Koji with interest.
Late that night as everyone was asleep Unalaq snuck over to Koji's tent and shook the little boy awake.
"Little boy how would you like to help your parents? I mean really help them." Unalaq asks as Koji sat up interested.
As the Red Lotus members woke up and made preparations for their attack Zaheer walked over to Koji's tent expecting to see his son's sleeping face but when he opened the tent, he saw no sign of his son anywhere.
"Koji? Koji?" Zaheer asks looking around.
"Hey Zaheer! You ready?" Ghazhan asks.
"Y-Yeah let's go." Zaheer said looking to see Unalaq's tent was also empty. "Hmm." Zaheer narrows his eyes.
Leading Koji through snow, Unalaq led him to a small water tribe village.
"What's over here?" Koji asks as Unalaq bended the snow away to reveal a secret entrance.
"Your destiny." Unalaq said leading Koji down a staircase. "Tell me something did your parents about the Spirit World?"
"No." Koji said.
"You see boy, there is one bender with the power to be the bridge between our world and the spirit world, the Avatar, champion of Raava and the Spirit of Light and peace." Unalaq explains leading Koji down a room.
"Cool." Koji said interested.
"Very but there must always be a balance. With light comes darkness and with peace comes chaos." Unalaq led Koji to a small room where large tree roots were growing out of the walls and in the center of it was a dark rift.
Koji looks at the rift and was confused by it.
"What is that?" Koji asks as Unalaq walks up to it.
"Vaatu, it's been too long." Unalaq grins.
"Unalaq what are you doing here? It is nowhere near the Harmonic Convergence." A sinister voice said.
"I know, but I believe I might now another way to release you." Unalaq looks to Koji and grabs his arm.
"Hey what are you doing?" Koji asks as Unalaq pushed him towards the rift.
"Hmm a young host. Very interesting." The voice said as the rift glowed red scaring Koji.
"What's going on?" Koji asks looking to Unalaq who had an evil grin on his face.
Suddenly from the rift, black tendrils emerged from it and grabbed Koji. "Let me go! Mommy! Daddy!" Koji screams trying to break free.
"Don't fight it, it'll only make this harder." Unalaq said as dark energy started to enter Koji's body causing him to scream in fear as his eyes suddenly turned red. "It's working. It's working. My Dark Avatar."
As the first half of Vaatu had entered Koji's body an explosion suddenly went off above causing the ritual to stop as a mountain of snow and ice came down on the tendrils forcing Vaatu to fall back into the rift.
"No!" Unalaq gasps as Koji he was dropped to the ground unconscious. "The attack! Ugh I was so close!" Grabbing Koji, he yanked him up and ran back to the exit but just as they escaped Unalaq looked down to see the Red Lotus attacking the White Lotus, Chief Sokka, Tenzin, Tonraq and Fire Lord Zuko.
Unalaq was about to leave with Koji when a blast of fire hit the slope beneath them causing Unalaq to lose his grip and Koji fell disappearing into the snow.
Growling in anger Unalaq looks out to see the Red Lotus being captured. All his plans had failed the Avatar lives, the Dark Avatar vessel was lost and the Red Lotus were being taken away.
As Zaheer was being chained he looked up and saw Unalaq running off.
"YOU! YOU TOOK HIM! IF I EVER SEE YOU AGAIN I'LL KILL YOU!" Zaheer roars as Unalaq looks to see Zaheer break out of their hold and ran in his direction when Kya appeared and shot ice at him freezing Zaheer in his tracks.
Growling Zaheer looks up to see Unalaq was long gone and with him so was his Koji.
The next morning, the White Lotus was clearing away the damages from last night's battle when a girl around Koji's age walked out. She had dark brow skin, black hair and blue clothes. This was Korra.
"Dad?" Korra asks walking out to him. "What happened last night?"
"Oh don't worry. It's all behind us. You're safe now." Tonraq smiles hugging his daughter.
Walking on the outskirts of the tribe two women were examining the damages from the fight. One was an elderly woman with long white hair in loops at the front and a younger woman with white hair. These were Katara and her daughter Kya.
"You know mom if you had joined the fight we would have won quicker. I bet Zuko and Uncle Sokka would have loved to fight with you like old times." Kya said.
"Maybe so, but my fighting days are long over." Katara said.
"I hope no one got hurt in the fight." Kya said when she saw faint flame in the distance. "What the?"
Walking towards it she gasps to see Koji with a small flame in his hand and shivering from the cold. "Oh my goodness!" Kya runs over and pulls Koji out of the snow. "Are you okay?"
"S-So cold…where's my mom and dad?" Koji asks looking around.
"Hang on. I'm gonna get you someplace warm. Mom!" Kya calls out as Katara walks over to Koji.
At their house, Kya put a fur blanket over Koji before handing him some soup. "Here you go, this should warm you up."
"T-Thank you." Koji said having some.
"What were doing out there?" Kya asks.
"My mom and dad took brought me here, then a friend of theirs said I could help but I-I don't remember what happened after." Koji said holding his head.
"You stay right here. I'm gonna talk to my mom and brother see what we can do." Kya said walking out of the room to see Katara talking to a man in red clothing and a burn mark on his face and a man with arrows and airbending robes. These were Fire Lord Zuko and Tenzin.
"How's the boy?" Tenzin asks.
"He'll be fine but he says he can't remember what happened to his parents." Kya said.
Last night's battle was fierce and the damages were large." Katara said.
"I've checked with all the families here, but none of them claim to be missing a child." Tenzin said.
"It's possible the boy's parents were caught in the battle and lost their lives." Zuko said.
"Poor kid." Kya sighs. "What are we gonna do with him? He needs someone to look after him."
"I agree. Someone strong but also caring." Katara said looking right at Kya.
"Me? Mom why not ask Tenzin we all know he plans to have kids someday." Kya points.
"Tenzin has enough to deal with back in Republic City. I think you would make a great mother." Katara said.
Kya looks to the next room and saw Koji eating his soup all by himself and a soft smile forms on her face.
"Hey uh kid." Kya said getting his attention. "What's your name?"
"Koji." He said.
"Well Koji, my name is Kya and if you'd like you can stay with me until we figure out what happened to your parents." Kya offers.
"Really?" Koji asks.
"I can't take your real mom's place but if you would like to give me a chance I'd love to." Kya said.
Smiling softly Koji nods his head as Kya hugs him.
A few days after being taken in by Kya, Koji was walking with her to fancy training area being built.
"What is going on here?" Koji asks looking around.
"We're going to meet my mom's new student. She's around your age and I think you'd might like a friend." Kya said as he reached out and held her hand.
Leading him inside, Kya and Koji looked to see Katara walking up to them with Korra.
"Hello Kya, Koji." Katara said.
"Hi mom." Kya said as Katara gestured for Korra.
"Uh hi I'm Koji." Koji said.
"Hi Koji, I'm Korra she smiles." Korra smiles holding out her hand.
Koji reached out and when they shook hands.
Both of them smile softly at what the start of a new friendship.
Taking off his gloves
Koji was told that when he came to the South Pole his future would be changed for the better but no one knew that his destiny had been changed completely for him and others.
