Day 0 –part 2

It was lunch time. The dekusquad somehow multiplied and most of Midoriya's classmates joined him to eat. Those who did not join still displayed caution and sat near the group -like the case of Todoroki who hated crowds. They flooded him yet Izuku tried to ignore them the best of his capabilities.

The broccoli was eating blissfully his favorite, katsudon. A bright aura surrounded him and he relaxed in joy. However, he was starting to get annoyed by the no stopping piercing stares of his friends. When he glared at their origin (some unfortunate classmates who coincidently met his look), their gaze would quickly drift back to their meal or they would innocently smile at him. It was annoying, yes. But one could not overlook how hilarious most of them were –how they would sweat and pale under his cold gaze.

This time, he scowled at Mineta who flinched in fear and stuttered. "I-I-I… am retreating." His voice gained a high pitched note as the words stormed out of his mouth. Then, he fled away quickly.

-You traitor… They mentally barked.

Well, not that they counted on him. Mineta was practically air to them –just a waste of space. Nevertheless, it was still irritating to see.

'Clink' They turned their attention to the sound of chopsticks hitting harshly the table. "What the hell is wrong with you? Can I not eat in peace?" Deku snapped at them. A vein or two popped up and he gritted his teeth in anger.

"…M-Midoriya-"

"Oh please… Don't 'Midoriya' me again." He did not care that they made a scene in front of the whole cafeteria. If it was him days ago, he would have stuttered in embarrassment.

"W-we…"

"You're a nuisance. Stop bullshitting and man up!"

"W-we are just trying to help you." Momo raised her head and voiced her complaint a few heads nodded in agreement.

"You can't even look me properly in the eyes and you're trying to 'help' me? Stop acting like I'm sick or something." His gaze studied all of their faces. After an awkward minute of deafening silence, he sighed and stood up.

"De-Deku-kun, where are you-"

"Toilet," he mumbled. "And don't follow me! It's bothersome as it is. I don't need more trouble." He fumed as he saw a group of his classmates taking the initiative to tail him. "It's not like imma kill someone or anything."

"Bunch of worrywart!" he strolled the corridors, hands in pockets. Despite his words, he smiled warmly. Not that he hated them… They were all his dear friends and he would not trade them for anything in the world.

"W-what are you-? Hey—Stay away, you pervert!"

Midoriya glanced around to see who was talking: a female student was getting harassed by Mineta Minoru.

"You scumbag…" he growled darkly. "And here I thought you were changing. What a shame~" He sighed in disappointment. Mineta looked at him in horror.

"Will you play with me for a bit~"

"He's taking too long," Denki worriedly tapped his finger on the table.

"We should search for him."

"No need, Jirou-san." A familiar voice interjected.

"Mineta?"

"It's me," he smiled politely. "I am sorry for what I have done to you before."

"This is creeping me out!"

"What happened to you?"

"Oh, nothing happened. I just had a t-t-t-t-t-talk…" his voice trembled at that word, "…with Izuku-san. And, don't worry about him. He's heading here."

"Huh?" They looked dully at him –gaping like a fish.

"Now, excuse me. I must go to Recovery Girl-san." Minoru mentioned to his battered clothes and injuries. Then, as quietly as he came, he marched away.

"What the fuck?" Bakugou who was sitting somewhere near ("So you do care about him~" "Shut the hell up!") voiced their thoughts.

"No cursing," Sonic-boy reprimanded him.

~15 minutes prior~

The screams of a certain midget resounded in the hall. It would be a lie to say that they weren't dreadful or worrying but when you think about it. The midget really deserved that and more. Nedzu sipped his tea as he glanced at the footages took by the camera.

"Ara… What do we have here?" A suspicious mob of blond hair was hiding behind the corner of the wall. He was horrified. "A witness?" He chuckled. "That would traumatize him for sure." More so the fact that it was Midoriya, aka 1-A's cinnamon bun, that was doing the job. Though, Mineta should rejoice about how lucky he was. If he continued on with that disgusting behavior, Nedzu would have personally taken care of things.

Returning to the blond boy, 1-B's Monoma Neito (hero name: Phantom Thief); a boy with a trashy character but interesting Quirk. "Fufu~ Amazing! Just when I was thinking of a way to introduce class 1-B to the mix." He chuckled in amusement. "My job seems to be done by itself, that's a pity." He sadly sipped his tea.

Monoma was marching down the halls, returning from the restroom.

"You scumbag," the words were snarled harshly and something in his stomach twisted. The amount of disgust stuffed in those words could not be described simply with words. Yet, that wasn't what worried him the most: the voice of the person was dreadfully familiar. And to think that such a tone could be produced by him of all people. That was terrifying. He could have shrugged off if it were someone else like Bakugo. So of course, curiosity took over his senses.

Neito He did not know why but he was shaking in his shoes as he approached the corner. It was lunch time so of course no one could be seen so he was alone. If he were to be killed here, no one would have known. What am I saying? He shook his head furiously as if shaking the thought off. T-that cannot be possible; this is a hero school and it's full of cameras everywhere. Even though the principal is a creep he's actually pretty reliable, I guess… probably… hopefully…

"Will you play with me for a bit~" He was brought out of the hurricane of thoughts that threatened to drown him by a creepily cold voice –a tone void of any emotion and, mysteriously, difficult to decipher. A far cry from the usually nervous and emotional tone that always coated that voice. Unfortunately, he was right in his assumption. The owner of the chilling voice was none other than Midoriya Izuku. The broccoli head was addressing his fellow classmate, Mineta Mino-something.

A girl, probably from the general course, was shakily standing as she looked at Mineta like he was a disgusting fly and at Midoriya like he was an angel falling from the sky. Don't know what she sees. Are we even talking about the same person? That boy there looks the complete opposite of that. Just like a devil, a dark aura was surrounding him. And if he didn't know better, he would have thought a tail and pair of horns were sprouting out.

'pop' 'pop'

"Good time! I needed something to vaunt my anger on." Midoriya popped his fingers and the sound echoed creepily. Neito was not able to see his face and he did not want to. However, he could almost swear he feels him smirking –something that rarely if ever creases his freckled face.

"Aha~ what a shame!" he said in a fake sweet tone, though the authenticity of his disappointment should not be suspected. "I guess that what people said is true, habits do die hard after all."

The only good thing about the mino-something is his instinct of survival. The boy knew how much he screwed up this time. However, he took a deep breath and summoned the courage of years to come, all to shock out some kind of pathetic excuse. It all depended on his next words. If he talked right, he could get away easily. "M-midoriya, I-I… it's none of your business." He shut his eyes tightly and shouted with all his might. Or not… You had a last chance and you throw it away just like that? What kind of foul you are?

He might've said something like 'oh look at those 1-A's trashes, killing each other off' or 'you think you're higher than us when you act like villains'. But, and that's a big but, knowing what the heck happened to Midoriya and how Mino-something was able to anger him that much was more crucial at that moment. So he resisted the urge the barge in (and end his life in the process) to save himself and feed his curiosity.

Midoriya's voice was even and Monoma had a feeling that he was scowling now. "Oh is that so? Let's see if you could say the same thing to Aizawa-sensei."

"E-eep!" Mineta seemed to be petrified by the glare that was sent to him by his fellow classmate. "I-I… I-"

"Don't worry," Monoma could see the edge of his cheeks turn upward. He took a much sweeter attitude (a sweet and gentle tone used to talk to a toddler) that if Monoma didn't know better he would have brushed off that chilling dreadful feeling that he felt seconds ago as his imagination. However, he knew that what he felt was no joking manner. The most frightening thing is that he couldn't uncover the previous anger and disgust. He was so good at hiding his emotions that it was frightening. How he could just smile all rainbow and sunshine and hide his killing intent, how he could stab and you wouldn't see it coming, how he could have been acting all these months and no one would have known. "When I am finished with you, your soul will be shining like that of a 1-year old."

"N-no…"

"We don't want you getting expelled now do we?"

'Pam' 'Pam'

He marched slowly toward Mineta. Instinctively, the midget took off his purple balls and rapidly threw them at Izuku. His throws were messy as most of his attacks weren't even coming near their target. It was a futile attempt to escape. His eyes darted everywhere searching for his salvation. Monoma, who did not want to be mixed up with all that, shifted to hide from the terrified eyes.

"I-I… sor-sorry…" The words stumbled from his mouth. Tears that have previously gathered at the back of his eyes finally escaped their sockets.

Seeing this, Midoriya laughed in amusement but his tone wasn't rejoicing or anything. "Few tears would not help you," he chirped. "I mean, you always do that. Let's take it up a notch, shall we? Just threatening you would not be enough, right shorty?"

Monoma did not know how long was he standing there. His feet were barely supporting his body and his whole core was shaking. As if the violent behavior of Midoriya was not enough, his harsh words pierced through the heart of Mineta like a blade. It was like he was trying to break the boy and then build him up again. The girl was standing there still looking at Midoriya like he was a saint sent to help her. For the umpteenth time, Monoma wondered if they were seeing were really the same thing.

After those dreadful moments, Midoriya's back was no longer facing Monoma he stood next to Mineta and crouched down. He lazily slung his arm over the smaller boy's shoulder who shook in fright.

Midoriya's eyes were closed and he smiled sweetly like his usual smiles though these one lacked its usual tint of nervousness and shyness. His voice was low and calm like a person advising their friend. "Minoru-kun -oh can I call you Minoru-kun? We're close friends now after all—now that you learned your lesson, what should you say to that miss?" he titled his head to the side as if pointing at the witness. Mineta's dull stare turned to the girl.

Mineta did not move. He was planted on the ground.

Izuku sighed and regained his patient smile like that of a parent with their child. He looked down at Mineta. "Minoru-kun, this is for your own good. For someone in the heroics, you have to show a great example to people. It's not wrong to love someone but you have to respect them –something that you lack completely." Mineta's dull eyes looked up at Midoriya whose eyes Monoma could not see because of the bangs that were hiding the top of his face.

"You are alone, aren't you?" He suddenly said something that was totally unrelated –at least that's what Neito felt. "You feel abandoned by your peers. You feel that they are greater than you and that they keep growing distant. And, one day you will be left all alone." He whispered. The corridors were ghost-quiet and the whispers of the boy resounded and echoed like they were everywhere around him. It felt like they were invading his mind and playfully pulling the strings to their guise. "You wanted to feel loved, you who were the laugh of your peers for years." Midoriya slowly stood up and circled the boy like a snake. When he was in front of him, he crouched down again. Monoma did not know what Mineta saw in those eyes but his gaze turned brighter somehow. It was like those toxic green eyes held the truth that he was searching for –some kind of salvation that he long ago longed for. "But don't worry, I'll help you." The blood from the beating but mainly the overuse of his quirk drifted to his eyes and Midoriya gently took out a towel (and Monoma asks where the hell does he pull things from) and whipped off the crimson liquid.

(Because despite the violence, Midoriya did not deal any lethal physical trauma, he was mostly targeting his psyche. The boy knew exactly what to say to crush his spirit and now exactly what to say to build it again. He did not know Midoriya could be so manipulative. He guessed that his talent in analysis can really be used in different ways. Perfect for heroics and –horribly enough—perfect for villainy!)

Midoriya did not have an ounce of blood on him. His 'role' easily turned upside down and he looked more of an angel than a devil. An angel that came to bring 'peace and salvation'. "I will help you," he repeated again. "We are friends now. No need to taint your soul, my friend. You don't need to keep chasing after women. I'll stay by your side and look at you. Unlike everyone else, I'll look at who you are. I am looking at who you are. Just a little boy, suffering from harsh treatment and searching for attention." For Mineta, his words sounded like the absolute truth.

"Mi-midoriya-san…" the midget breathed out and a few more tears escaped his eyes. He still had tears to shed?

"Call me Izuku. I said that, right? We are friends now. If you have any problem, come to me. Now, why don't we apologize to that miss?" He urged his classmate treating him like a small child. Like a child who was scared of looking under his bed in fear of the 'monsters' lying under. Mineta let himself being pushed gently and he stood before the girl.

"I-I… I am sorry. I won't do it again. Will you pardon me?"

Her gaze traveled from the shorty to the boy next to him. Her eyes kept gazing into those green abysses and she turned to Mineta again when she found some kind of satisfying answer in those eyes. (Now Monoma was really curious about what is there) She forced a smile. "Y-yeah, it's all in the past." The words hardly left her mouth. It was obvious that his actions would not be emended that rapidly which Midoriya should have known.

"Thank you," The taller boy said, satisfied.

The surprising part is that the girl even bothered looking at the boy or addressing him again. So, despite not mending her respect towards Mineta, it was a big step. It was already amazing how she now looked at him like a fellow human being than some filthy trash like she did minutes ago. (Was it minutes? Hours? Seconds? For him it was an eternity!)

"Now Minoru-kun, you should go to Recovery-girl. Should I go with you?"

Mineta shook his head. "N-no, I will be fine, Izuku-san. I will go alone." And, he walked away. He passed by Monoma but did not bat an eye when he notice his presence. It was better that way.

From the looks of it, he was heading towards the cafeteria not Recovery. Hmm… I wonder why?

Monoma turned his gaze to the duo still spying on them. The girl was talking happily to the boy while he was facing her, hands in pocket. He turned his head slowly to Monoma who was stunned by that. A smile painted his lips but his narrowed eyes were not smiling. They looked like threatening as they gazed at his core. A chill run down his spine as he broke in cold sweat. A scarred finger found its way to the boy's lips and he signed a shush motion to the hidden student.

Monoma fell back in fright and then swiftly stood up and sprinted away. He did not know where he was going; he just wanted to escape the dark look that followed him until he disappeared to another corner.

"So, you want to head to the cafeteria together."

Midoriya shrugged his shoulder. Now, he felt better and was sure he would not explode in the faces of his classmates.

She smiled happily at him but was met by a blank stare. They began walking and she childishly skipped a few steps ahead of him. The girl, Sakura Mao, turned to him and grinned while waving her hands around. "Midoriya-kun, speed up a bit!" She approached him and nudged his sleeve to move forward.

Izuku smirked...
