A/N: I don't watch the mothership so Sloane and Ellick may be a bit ooc to start off with, but rest assured I'm watching it now so hopefully I'll get a better sense of their characters.
Kensi runs her hands over her pencil skirt, smoothing out any wrinkles that may be showing. "Baby, there's nothing to worry about."
"We could lose our jobs, Deeks."
"Well, if we do it'll be because we stood up for justice and isn't that the best way to go down? Don't you wanna be able to tell our kids that we risked everything to speak up against those that hurt innocent people?"
"You're right."
His hand finds her stomach, smiling as he looks down. "Did you hear that, buddy? Your mommy said I was right."
A blush rises to her cheeks at his words. "Babe, stop. I don't want anyone finding out until at least the second trimester."
He hears footsteps coming towards them and quickly removes his hand from her still flat abdomen as Sam, Callen, Roundtree and Wallace walk over. "You okay, Sam?"
"I'm about to testify against a SEAL who committed war crimes, of course I'm not okay." Sam shakes his head and walks over to the detective patting him on the back. "Sorry. man."
Deeks shakes off his apology knowing that this whole thing is affecting the former Navy SEAL more than the rest of them.
As they anxiously wait in the federal court lobby for the trial to begin their thoughts wander to what Argento said the last time Sam spoke to him. You all better watch your backs.
A few minutes later the silence is broken by the sound of a phone ringing.
Locating the noise, Kensi turns to her partner with an accusatory glare. "Babe, you were suppose to turn that off."
"Sorry." He's about to press the red button when he sees the picture of Beale in jail in his pjs, alarming him immediately. Eric knows they're about about to go into the court room. "Yeah, Eric, what is it?"
Kensi watches as her husband steps away, catching a glimpse of the worrisome look on his face. He talks for a few minutes and then hangs up before walking back over to them.
"Is everything okay?" She questions, the anguish in his eyes already telling her the answer.
"No, we got a dead petty officer in Forrest Heights."
"Don't they have other agents on hand?"
"Apparently an Agent Sloane requested our help on this."
Callen nods his head in understanding. Kensi and Deeks are basically here for moral support anyway and if they can help catch a murderer then they're better off out there, where they're needed. "You two go. We'll be fine."
The duo nods and spins around, hastily making their way towards the exit. "I wonder why she requested our help?"
Kensi shrugs, something tells her this is going to be a rough one.
She's typing away on her computer trying to finish her report, when the insistent buzzing returns to her ears. "Remember how you said you liked bad boys?"
"What does that have to do with anything, Nick?" Ellie rolls her eyes at her partner's blatant need to annoy her 24/7. Okay, maybe not 24/7. She does find him quite cute when he's sleeping. Wait, what? Did she just…
"I'll have you know I rode my bike to work today without a helmet."
Her eyes go wide at his words. How stupid can he be? She stands up, crowding his space as he sits on her desk, fire clearly burning in her eyes. "I swear to god, Nick, if you get yourself killed-"
"You'll what?" Leaning in closer, Nick's lip quirks into a smile challenging her to finish her sentence.
Kensi shares a look with her husband at the scene playing out before them. She really hopes they weren't that obvious before they got together. "Agent Bishop?'
Quickly gathering herself, Ellie walks around her partner and towards the duo. "Agent Blye. Detective Deeks. Thanks for coming. This is my partner Nick Torres."
"Partner? Partner? Because what from what I just saw-"
Her elbow finds his stomach before he has a chance to finish his thought, a clear indication from his wife that he should stop talking.
"Shutting up."
Ellie tries biting back the smile at the partners, its almost like looking in a mirror. "Gibbs and McGee are off on a mission and we're just waiting on Agent Sloane for a briefing."
Nick's brow furrows as he feels the shaggy blonde's eyes continually stare at him. "Detective Deeks, are you okay?"
"Yeah, it's just….has anyone ever told you that you look like Fez from That 70s Show?"
"Please don't." The blonde junior agent pleads with her partner. She can't handle this again.
Nick's eyes light up at the comparison, his partner doesn't appreciate it but something tells him that the shaggy detective will. Adjusting his mouth, he clears his throat and proceeds to speak with the most spot on impersonation of the character. "I would love to make love to an 80-year old. They must know everything, and not just about sex, but history and trivia too."
Deeks walks away from the women and over to where Ellie left her partner. "Oh, my god! That's amazing."
Kensi sighs, her husband loves all things dealing with character impersonations. "Yeah, he's never gonna shut up now."
"Yours too, huh?"
"Yours too? Are you and Torres-"
Ellie's eyes go wide when she realizes what just came out of her mouth and the implication of her words. "No, I-I mean…..well, it's just….he's not…..we're not really-"
"Relax, Bishop." The brunette huffs a laugh at the now nervous junior agent. "How long have you been partners?"
"Just about 3 years now. How about you and Detective Deeks?"
"Around 11 years now." Kensi's attention turns her attention towards her husband, a goofy smile spreading to her face as she watches him enthusiastically do his impression of The Terminator.
"Wow. So can I ask you a question?"
"Sure."
"Are you two-"
Kensi turns back towards Ellie, with a knowing smile. Oh, I see where this is going. "Is it that obvious?"
"Really?"
"If not we wasted a whole bunch of money on the wedding." Deeks grins, having caught the conversation as he and Nick make their way back over to the women.
"Wow, so you're married."
Kensi bumps his hip playfully as they share a loving smile. The world dwindling down to just the two of them for a split second. "That's what our mortgage says."
Nick opens his mouth to say something, but is interrupted by another voice.
"You must be Agent Blye and Detective Deeks." The psychologist weaves her way around the cubical and towards the agents. "I wish we were meeting under different circumstances."
Kensi and Deeks both give Sloane a faint smile, wishing for the same.
The former Lieutenant points the clicker to the screen bringing up a picture of the victim telling them how urgent this case is. "This is Petty Officer William Moffet."
"Hey, I know this guy." The detective speaks up, drawing the attention of the others.
Kensi's brow furrows and turns back to look at the picture. She knows her husband's right, they've seen him before. Looking between the name and the photo it finally hits her. "Dammit!"
"What? Kens, what?"
"It's Argento's second in command. He was suppose to testify tomorrow."
"I'll let Callen know." Deeks takes out his phone to make the call but realizes he's already in court so he sends off a text. And then just to be sure, he sends one to Roundtree and Wallace as well.
Sloane's surprised how quickly the partners are able to place him. These guys are good. "The same Argento that's on trial right now for war crimes?"
"Yeah, our team helped capture him and all his teammates testimonies are key pieces in putting him away." The brunette sighs, she knew this day was going to be a rough one.
"Is he also a part of the mob?"
Deeks walks back over, answering the question as he does. "His wife's family has deep pockets so I wouldn't put it past them."
"We gotta get the other guys in protective custody."
"I already have agents working on that." The team psychologist assures the pair.
Ellie takes everything in when the question that hasn't been spoken out loud comes from her lips. "Now the question is, are you two and your team on the list, too?"
Kensi turns towards her husband, the uneasiness in her chocolate orbs mirroring the uneasiness in his cerulean blues. Yeah, today sucks.
A/N: Hope you guys like it!
