Start of A/N

Hey guys! So I decided to try writing a SpiderTiger story, since I'm a huge fan of the ship! I'm trying to do something a bit different than some of the other popular SpiderTiger stories, so I hope you enjoy!

Plot: When Nick Fury decides to recruit a new team leader for his team of SHIELD trainees, Ava is furious. She wanted to lead the team, and knew Spider-Man would just be an incompetent team leader. But as time goes on, Spider-Man starts to grow on Ava, and she slowly starts to realize that she wants to be more than just teammates. Basically, this story is every episode of the Ultimate Spiderman series from (mostly) Ava's perspective.

So this story is going to show Ava's perspective of everything that happens in the Ultimate Spiderman series. Each chapter will be one episode from Ava's perspective, and if needed, I'll split one episode between two chapters if it gets too long.

This is only my second fanfic, and it's definitely going to be much longer, more detailed, and generally a very challenging story to write. So, here we go!

Enjoy the read!

Disclaimer: I do not own Ultimate Spider-Man. It is owned by Marvel Entertainment.

Chapter 1: Prologue

It was a normal day on the HeliCarrier for Ava. Luke and Sam were playing video games in Sam's room, Danny was meditating in his room, and Ava was alone in her room, doing some reading. However, she couldn't focus. Fury had told her earlier that day that he wanted to speak with her, alone. She knew it was probably nothing, after all, she didn't have a tendency to get into trouble, unlike Sam. But something told her that their talk wouldn't end with her in a particularly good mood.

As these thoughts circled through Ava's mind, she shook them off, and put her book down. She was probably just overthinking this, as she did with many things. After all, what was there to worry about? If anything, Fury was probably just going to give her some kind of good news, maybe even let her start being a real hero and fight crime, instead of just training on the HeliCarrier with the others.

Ava stood up, and began walking to Fury's office. Their meeting was in 5 minutes, and she couldn't take the suspense anymore. When she reached his door, she knocked three times.

"Come in, Ava," Fury called from inside.

Ava opened the door and walked in, as Fury gestured to her to take a seat. Ava sat down in a chair in front of his desk.

"You wanted to see me sir?" Ava said, fiddling with her fingers.

"Yes Ava, I need to talk to you about something," Fury said, "Don't worry, you're not in trouble."

Ava breathed a sigh of relief.

"May I ask why it's just me, and not the rest of the guys?" Ava said.

"They'll find out eventually," Fury said, "But I felt like telling you first because I've seen the most progress in you out of the rest."

Ava couldn't prevent a small smile from appearing on her face.

"So what's the news?" She asked.

"As you know, you have been training with the others for awhile, with the promise of being heroes in the real world, and fighting crime" Fury said, "I think it's time that you and the others began doing real world heroics, as a team."

Ava couldn't believe her ears. Finally, everything they had been working towards was going to pay off.

"Really?" Ava said with excitement, "Wow, this is ... incredible! I can't wait! I—"

"Hold on Ava," Fury cut her off, "I'm not finished."

"Sorry," Ava said apologetically.

"You and the others will be starting real life heroics, as a team," Fury continued, "But I'm going to be recruiting one more member to your team, to be your new team leader."

"What?!" Ava exclaimed. She didn't like the sound of this, having a new team member who she didn't know, who she probably couldn't trust. She didn't want a new team member, let alone a new leader. Besides, Fury had always told her that one day, she would make a good team leader.

"Now I know this is going to be hard to take in," Fury said, "But your new team leader has real world experience doing this type of stuff. I have no doubts that you'll warm up to him once you get to know him."

"And who exactly is this team leader," Ava asked with doubt and annoyance in her voice.

"That, you'll find out with the others," Fury said, "But don't worry, he's your age, he's experienced and he'll be fun to be around."

Ava didn't say anything. She wasn't convinced. Ava didn't like making new friends, or meeting new people. It took her a while to warm up to Danny, Luke and Sam, and she couldn't even trust them with everything. She made it quite clear that she only liked to communicate if they were training, or doing something SHIELD related, something important. Other than that, they barely socialized.

"Look, I know I've told you many times that you would make a great team leader one day," Fury said, "And believe me, you will. If I didn't want to recruit this new member to your team, I would've made you team leader in a heartbeat."

Ava remained silent. She gave Fury a half smile, acknowledging his words, but was still unsure of this whole situation.

Fury could see that Ava wasn't taking the news well. He always knew that the young heroine often kept to herself, that she had trouble getting to know new people. It took him months to get her to train with the rest of her team, instead of just training on her own. After that, it took another few months to get her to have a conversation with them that was unrelated to their SHIELD training. Fury needed to find a way to get her on board, or his new team would never work.

"Ok, tell you what," Fury continued, "If you accept this new recruit to the team, SHIELD will enrol you and the guys in a high school."

"Really?" Ava said excitedly. She had been begging SHIELD for months to let her get a normal education outside of the HeliCarrier, like a normal teenager would. She couldn't believe her ears.

"Yep. Coulson says it'll be good for you and the others to experience 'normal lives'" Fury said, "Personally I am hesitant about the idea, but if it'll get you to accept working with a new team member, then so be it. So, what do you say?"

Ava thought it over for a few seconds, before making up her mind.

"I'm in. But only if we are enrolled in a high school, otherwise, the deal's off." Ava said.

"Deal." Fury said instantly.

Ava was smiling. She was still reluctant to have a new team leader, but if it meant finally going to attend a school, she could live with it.

"Alright Ava, I'll let you go now," Fury said as Ava began walking to the door. "And Ava?"

"Yes?" Ava replied.

"Don't tell the others just yet. I'll talk to them on my own." Fury said.

Ava decided to go train for a bit before going back to her room. She went into the training room, and started fighting the LMDs, destroying more and more as time went on. She eventually lost track of time, and noticed she had been training for over two hours. However, she wasn't tired at all, her amulet having provided the energy she needed to keep fighting. She decided that was enough for today, and walked back to her room.

"I'll probably take a shower, then turn in early," Ava said to herself.

Ava walked back into her room, to find Danny, Luke and Sam all there. She gave them a confused look.

"Uh, hey guys," she said, "Why are you all in my room?"

"Isn't it obvious Tiger?" Sam said, "We want to know what happened with Fury, duh!"

"Yea, what happened in there, girl?" Luke asked.

"Nothing important," Ava said, "Just gave me the usual talk about trying to get you guys to train more."

"Seriously, that's it?" Sam said, "There's no way that's all it was about, you're hiding something!"

"She does not have to speak with us about the meeting if she is uncomfortable doing so," Danny said calmly.

Before Sam could open his mouth, him, Danny, and Luke all got a message on their communicators from Fury.

"The three of you, get down here now!" Fury demanded, "We need to talk."

"Guess you'll find out what happened now, Sam." Ava smirked.

An hour later, the group were all hanging out in the lounge, talking about what Fury had told them.

"We're getting a new team leader?!" Sam said. "No way! Everyone knows I'm the only one who can lead this team!"

The others just stared at him, holding in laughter.

"I don't know why you're all laughing, I'm a great leader!" Sam said confidently.

"Perhaps someday," Danny said to Sam, then turned back to Luke and Ava, "I think it was wise of Fury to choose a leader for us who is experienced."

"Believe whatever you want, I don't like this." Luke said, "I mean, we don't even know who we could be dealing with here."

"He's right," Ava said, "Not to mention, he'll probably treat us like a bunch of rookies when we try to help him out in a fight."

"Yeah, and we have to go to school now!" Sam complained. "This sucks!"

"It's never a bad thing to expand your knowledge, Sam." Danny said, despite not looking forward to school himself. "Anyways, it would be wise for us to wait until tomorrow, when we meet our new leader, before we start passing judgement."

"Easy for you to say," Ava said dryly, "What are you, a fortune cookie?"

Ava walked out of the lounge, and headed to her room. She wasn't worried about school, she was just worried about this new team leader. But no way was she going to tell Fury that this was a bad idea, she never said no to an order, no matter what. Not to mention, she only agreed to this because she wanted to go to a real high school for once. Ava decided it would be best to get some rest before the next day. She went to her room to get some sleep.

That's the first chapter, hope you all enjoyed it! I know it's a bit short, but the next two chapters are much longer and more detailed, as I will start directly quoting episodes of the show and filling in the gaps in between. You'll see when you read it!

Please let me know what you think so far in the reviews!
