BBRae: Ring

It was a thin, small silvery white band; the sunlight shining off of the metal and the glittering sapphire set in its centre. It weighed barely anything, a few grams at best, but it wasn't the physical weight affecting the man holding it. To him, it felt like the entire mass of the world was in between his fingers. Spinning and spinning as he tried to think of what he'd say, but it felt like all the words in the world disappeared from his head. Not to mention how his mouth would just dry up and his tongue felt like it was bound up in knots.

He'd kept himself up as the ring eyed from the table, surrounded by half a dozen scrunched up notes and abandoned love letters. Each attempt dripping with what he felt was sappy, cliché romanticisms; he couldn't help but grow to hate each admission and proclamation he made in them. It all felt like he was phoning it in rather than being real and raw with his emotions to her. Taking a drink of a black coffee, grimacing at the awful and bitter taste he returned to pouring his heart out onto page after page. As he longed to propose to his world, his one true love, his warmest comfort and most adamant and secret confidant: Raven.

Garfield just collapsed on the table and growled and hissed, all of his ideas felt just WRONG like he was painting in pastels and he wanted to convey his desires and romantic feelings to a dark and powerful sorceress and a mistress of the dark and the unknown. It was like chasing his tail as a dog and being unable to stop or catch his tail. Groaning in an admission of defeat, Garfield dragged himself from the table to the soft and inviting couch there, sleep would catch him and take him to dreams of raven in an amazing white dress, a beautiful scent of herb and flower petals and the pair dancing in the void.

Garfield slowly came to, bleary-eyed and sluggish as the rays of the sun danced across his face and he could hear a chorus of birds chirping and dogs parking throughout the neighbourhood. Slowly pulling himself up and out of the couch he shuffled into the kitchen to splash water on his face, make a strong black coffee and have a hearty and delicious breakfast. Bemused to find the kettle on and his cup out as well as his favourite breakfast materials laid out for him. Garfield made a note to thank super exhausted Garfield for thinking ahead. Soon he was staring at a wall as he slowly gained more and more awareness and energy as he munched on some waffles. Before turning to the dreaded table and making two realisations. One, he shouldn't be thanking himself. And two, Raven was wearing the ring he had chosen while going through the pile of completed proposal notes and letters.

"Raven?! I-I can explain." His mouth went dry as he was soon stuck as a spluttering, confused incoherent mess as she turned to look at him with a soft smile and a light pink blush across her cheeks and a shimmer of tears not yet shed.

"Yes… Yes I want to be with you."
