Harry boarded the plane, checking his pockets to make sure he had his wallet with him. Because of his special relationship with the Goblins after the war, he had been able to convince Gringotts to present him with a Muggle credit card that drew directly from his vault, as well as set up a muggle bank account for him in the States.

The situation in Britain following Voldemort's defeat had quickly become untenable. It turned out that he had only been a symptom, and the Ministry was corrupt, infiltrated by pureblood supremacists at every level. Worse yet, a significant portion of Wizarding Britain turned out to be sympathetic to their cause, making it nearly impossible for any progress to be achieved. When he learned that Ginny had been cheating on him with one of her Quidditch teammates, that was the last straw. He decided to leave Britain and go live in the United States, so booked a flight from Heathrow to Metropolis.

Harry gazed out the window, reflecting on his life in Britain and looking forward to whatever was to come in the States. Suddenly, a woman came running up the aisle and took a seat next to him. She met his gaze for a minute before nodding and pulling out a computer, typing away. Examining her closely, Harry saw that she had a badge pinned to her chest, marking her as some sort of journalist. She was youthful and quite attractive, dressed in formal clothes and seeming like she was very attentive about her appearance. Sensing his gaze, the woman looked over and extended a hand.

"Hi, I'm Lois, a reporter for the Daily Planet," she said.

"Harry," he responded, not knowing how exactly to identify himself.

"Just 'Harry'? Come on, what do you do? You look nervous, is this your first time on a plane or something?"

Deftly avoiding her first question, he looked down and said "actually, this is my first time. I've never been out of Britain either. Just looking for a fresh start in the States."

Lois looked at him sharply. He was handsome, clean shaven and well-built, but with the air of someone who lacked confidence in himself. He wore a tight, ill-fitting shirt that had the effect of showcasing his toned chest. Tearing her eyes away, Lois looked at his face and inquired "Do you know where you're going to settle down yet? You should consider Metropolis if you get the chance, it has just about everything one could ask for."

"I have no idea yet. I only booked a flight to Metropolis because I remembered one of my friends telling me it was on the news once, something about some Superman character." Immediately after he said this, he noticed a change in Lois's demeanor, she looked more tentative and quickly went back to her computer. Not knowing what he said wrong, Harry simply leaned back and went to sleep.

They did not speak for the rest of the flight. When it was time to disembark, Harry surreptitiously placed a tracking charm on Lois, thinking that since they would be in the same city for a while, it would be a good idea to be able to locate her in the future. They walked together for a while to collect their luggage, and then Lois waved goodbye, summoned a taxi to go home, and told Harry to drop by the Daily Planet in the future.

Relatively clueless, Harry decided to see if he could locate a possible home for himself. He shrunk his luggage, placing it into his pocket, and covered himself in his Invisibility Cloak so as to not draw any attention to himself. Walking for a while, he saw a massive manor, and looking at the gate outside it was for sale, and apparently had been for a while. After exploring the manor for about an hour, he found that it was to his liking, so apparated to the real estate office. A few charms and forged documents later, he was the proud owner of Potter Manor.

Before he left Britain, one of the projects Harry had been working on was to find a way to integrate magic and technology. With Hermione's help, he made major breakthroughs, and was eventually able to come up with a complicated ward scheme to do so. Knowing that he would have people over and would be living in the muggle world permanently, he got to work setting up the appropriate wards. Aside from the technology ward, he had several shields put up, and warded it to look like abandoned ruins to anyone who was not invited. For security purposes, he also conjured a large stone wall around the Manor, which had to be tapped in exactly the right spot to reveal a gate.

The next day, Harry thought that it would be prudent for him to find work, that way he could have a robust persona in place while he pursued other interests. Not knowing where else to turn, he decided to check out the Daily Planet and see if they had any interest in hiring him. When he arrived on the ground floor, he was told he needed to speak with Perry White, the editor-in-chief. He walked aimlessly about, trying to locate Perry's office, and while daydreaming about possible roles he wanted, he collided with someone, knocking them to the floor. Immediately, Harry whirled around and extended his hand. It was a woman in her early twenties, blushing as she was pulled to her feet.

"I'm really sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going. I'm Kara Danvers by the way," she said, looking nervously at him.

"Actually I think that was my fault, I should have been more careful," he replied. "I'm Harry Potter. You wouldn't happen to know where I could find Perry White by any chance, would you."

"You'll want to go to the seventh floor. I'm actually headed there now, you can come along with me," she said.

As they got in the elevator, Harry couldn't help but sneak glances at the gorgeous blonde. She was wearing tight jeans that fit snugly against her bum, and judging by what he could see against the thin fabric of her shirt, she had evidently decided to go braless. He tried not to be too obvious, forcing himself to stare straight ahead and focus on what was to come.

As they got out of the elevator, Kara directed Harry to a long hallway, telling him to walk straight and he would find Perry's office. As he got closer, the door opened and a woman walked out. Looking closely, Harry realized it was Lois. She didn't notice him at first, as she was typing away on her phone, but suddenly looked up and started when she saw him, before breaking out into a large smile.

"Well well well, I'm glad you made it after all Harry. I assume you're here to ask Perry for a job?," she inquired. After Harry nodded confirmation, she enthusiastically assured him that it was his lucky day, as Perry had finally decided to expand their team. She wished him luck and waved him on.

After a brief discussion with Perry (and some nifty wandwork), Harry had himself a job as a frontlines investigative journalist. His job would be to coordinate with other reporters who were highlighting various criminal enterprises, and put himself in danger in order to gain firsthand information. Interestingly, it was pretty much the role Lois had, and Perry advised Harry to seek her advice and essentially follow her guidance at first until he learned the ropes.

Given the good weather outside, Harry decided to walk back to his manor. He was extremely pleased with himself, having just secured a home and a job in less than a day. As he was thinking, he suddenly heard people screaming up ahead, and a few seconds later a large group began to run in his direction. Bewildered, Harry managed to stop one of them, who explained to him that the main city bank was up ahead and had been infiltrated by robbers, who had taken hostages. Harry ran forward, and cursed as he saw that it was obviously a well organized operation. There was a ring of armed men around the bank, meaning that even if police came they would not be able to make any progress.

Harry paused for a minute to consider what to do. He could probably stop the thieves and save the hostages, but it would be a tricky and difficult operation. Furthermore, there was a near guarantee he would be photographed and recognized in the process, revealing his powers to the entire world, which would permanently ruin his plans for his life. Making up his mind to intervene, he waved his wand and transfigured his clothes into an all black costume. Additionally, he cast a glamour on his face so if anyone looked at it, it would appear as a moving blur, with no defined features. Satisfied, he threw on his Invisibility Cloak and stood in front of the side with the entrance to the bank.

Immediately, Harry realized he had a problem. He needed to take out the 10 men on this side of the bank with alerting the others. Fortunately for him, the thugs were more interested in intimidation than actual security, and occasionally one of them would wander off and go inside the bank, leaving the door open for a few seconds as they did so. Thinking quickly, he cast a charm on himself so he didn't make any noise, and then quietly slipped in.

He was shocked by the situation in front of him. He had expected to see a whole host of armed thieves, but there were only 5, with a group of about 10 hostages. Looks like they didn't expect anybody to get through the men outside, Harry thought. After assessing that the hostages were in no immediate danger, Harry walked forward toward the thieves. Then, he threw off the Invisibility Cloak and started firing stunners. Four of the men went down immediately, but the other one dodged and started shooting at him. Harry was forced to throw up a shield to stop the fire of bullets, and tried to think of how he would break the stalemate. Oddly, he thought, the gun the man was using did not seem to run out of bullets.

Suddenly, Harry heard footsteps behind him and realized he had made a terrible mistake. He had seen the 5 men with the hostages and thought they were the only ones in the bank, when clearly there had been men on either side of the door hidden out of sight. Before he could figure out a plan, he felt a massive blow to the side of the head, and slumped to the ground, unconscious.
