Volume 2: Chapter 11 No Brakes

Yang, Blake, Rock, Weiss, Doctor Oobleck, Snake and the pets had gotten down one of the stairwells to get to the lower city, and were now making their way over to the remains of the city.

They were making great progress until they hit a wall that was blocking their path, "Great, what are we going to do with this?" Asked Weiss.

"Don't worry kid, I got this." said Snake as he grabbed some explosives from his uniform and was about to head over to the wall. Only to be stopped by Doctor Oobleck.

"Snake, don't. Using that many explosives will just attract attention." said Doctor Oobleck.

"Well then, tell me doctor what do you suggest we do?" asked Snake.

"We bust in the old fashioned way." said Yang as her gauntlets expanded and she got ready to strike the wall.

"An interesting idea, however..." said Doctor Oobleck as he dashed over to the wall and tapped it with his weapon. Hearing a faint echo behind the wall, he then added "Just like I thought, I think that you punching the wall with a shotgun gauntlet isn't going to do the trick. We need more force than that."

"Just tell me where I need to hit, I need to save my sister from those maniacs!" Yelled Yang.

Rock then got an idea and said "Don't worry Yang, I can help you with this."

"And how will you do that?" asked an annoyed Yang.

"Very easily." said Rock, he then turned to Rush and said "Rush, power armor form."

Rush then jumped into Rock, which changed the blue robot to a more red color and made him look stronger.

"What did you do?" asked Blake.

"It is one of the many functions of Rush, he can either become a vehicle, give me extra strength or give me flight. Now, lets bust down this wall." said Rock as he and Yang walked over to the wall and stood in front of it.

"How are we going to do this?" asked Yang.

"I need to charge this up, so on the count of three we punch a hole through this wall." said Rock.

"Alright, lets do this." said Yang.

Rock began to charge up, and began to glow as a result. They both waited three seconds, and once the time was up they both unleashed a powerful punch. One that created a hole in the wall, a hole big enough for everyone to fit through.

"Well done you two." said Doctor Oobleck, after which the cave began to shake and he added "We have to hurry, I fear we may have just destroyed a load bearing wall and we don't want to be crushed by the cave.

The group then ran through the hole, and they all made it through before the previous part of the cave collapsed in on itself. "Guys, we have to go." said Doctor Oobleck, the group then ran off towards the main square of the abandoned city looking for Ruby. As they ran off Rush unfused himself from Rock.

With Ruby

Roman torchwick had thrown Ruby onto the ground, and then exclaimed while laughing "Wow! You are much more manageable without that oversized gardening tool of your!"

Ruby gets up, and tries to charge at Roman. Only for the thief to step out of the way, which caused he to fall onto the ground. Roman then exclaims "Oh man, you know Red. I really needed this!"

He then walks over to her, pulls her up by her hair and asks "But seriously. How'd you find this place, Red?"

Ruby tries to use her semblance to get away from Roman, only for him to grab her by her hood to prevent her escape. "I see you've got some tricks up your sleeve! Let me make this clear, we're not through here yet."

An explosion is then heard in the distance, causing Roman to yell at some White Fang soldiers "What the... Oi, take care of whatever that explosion was! I'm kinda in the middle of something."

The soldiers run off towards the sound, but then another explosion is heard. Causing Roman to exclaim in annoyance "What is going on here!"

Then from around the corner more White Fang soldiers come running towards Roman, being pursued by Yang, Blake, Weiss, Rock, Snake, Doctor Oobleck and the pets.

Ruby takes the opportunity to get away from her captors, she grabs onto his right arm and slams him onto the ground. She then runs away from him. Roman gets up and exclaims "Somebody kill her!"

The White Fang soldiers begin to shoot at her, only for their shots to miss as Ruby uses her semblance to dodge the bullets.

Roman turns to one of the soldiers and exclaims "Attach this cart and spread the word, we're starting the train!"

"But we're not finished." replied the White Fang soldier.

"Do it or you're finished!" Exclaimed Roman. The White Fang soldier saluted to Roman and then ran off.

Ruby, in the meantime, had run into a group of White Fang soldiers and was now surrounded. However, luckily for her the soldiers got knocked down by Yang punching them away and Rock firing several charged shots at them.

Ruby looks over and sees who her saviors were, she then uses her semblance to dash towards them and then pulls both Yang and Rock into a hug.

"Ruby!" Exclaimed Yang, with happiness in her voice.

"Are you okay?" asked Weiss.

"Did they hurt you?" asked Rock.

"I'm fine, I'm fine! But listen! Torchwick's got all kinds of weapons and robots down here." said Ruby.

"What!" Exclaims Blake in shock.

Rock then gives Ruby her weapon back, who in turn begins to explain "Androids, mechs, they're all loaded up on the train cars!"

"Ahhh, that's ridiculous. These tunnels are sealed, the tracks lead to a dead end." said Doctor Oobleck.

"Doctor, where is that dead end?" asked Snake.

"Somewhere in Vale, why do you ask... Oh no." said Doctor Oobleck as he realized what was going to happen.

Roman's voice is then heard coming over the speaker system, which then says "Get to your places, we are leaving now!" After which the train begins to move towards the tunnels.

"Well, it sounds like they're going somewhere." said Yang.

"Towards Vale." said Doctor Oobleck.

"What?" asked Weiss.

"They are going to use this train to crash into Vale, and do who knows what down there." said Doctor Oobleck.

"We need backup. Let me call Jaune or someone from Team JNPR." said Ruby as she grabbed her scroll, only for her to not get a signal. "I can't get through."

"So what do we do?" asked Weiss.

"I believe we only have one option." said Doctor Oobleck.

"We're stopping that train." said Rock.

The team then runs back to the station, and sees that the train is beginning to leave as the last train carts almost made it into the tunnel.

They run after it, after a while they managed to make it onto the train and managed to get onto the roof. Where they were greeted by several White Fang soldiers.

Yang charges at them, and punches them off the roof. Doctor Oobleck then hits a remaining soldier of the roof with the head of his weapon. A communications device gets left behind, Blake picks it up and listens in on a conversation between Torchwick and a White Fang Soldiers in the front of the train.

"Boss they made it on the train!" A white fang soldier is heard screaming over the communication device.

"Then grab some cargo and get them off the train!" Exclaimed Roman in annoyance.

They then hear the soldier leaving, and Roman muttering "Man, animals, every one of them."

After which he is heard saying "Not you though, you're, heh, you're great."

Then the communications device is shot to pieces by a White Fang soldier who had made it onto the train.

Snake runs up to the soldier, punches the soldier on several pressure points and then knocks the soldier off the train.

"Hurry up everyone! We must get to the front and stop this train!" Exclaimed Doctor Oobleck.

Rock opens the nearest hatch, prompting him and Weiss to look inside. Weiss then says "Err... Professor?"

"Doctor..." said Doctor Oobleck as he looks down the hatch with them.

"What's that?" asked Weiss as she pointed down the hatch, making Doctor Oobleck look down.

"That my dear... appears to be a bomb." said Doctor Oobleck, to which Team RRWBY reacts in shock while Snake reacts indifferently towards the situation.

Ruby then exclaims "We've got baddies!" as multiple White Fang members get onto the roof of the train.

"Well, I didn't expect them to go-" Doctor Oobleck was about to say, only to become alarmed by the bomb activating "-easy on us. Time to go!"

The team begins to run towards the next train cart, Doctor Oobleck stops Blake and says "Blake! Detach the caboose! It will kill us all!"

"On it!" said Blake as she grabbed her weapon, jumped between the connector and was about to use the blade the detach the connection between the carts. Only for it to detach itself.

"Huh?" Said Blake, she then looked up at Doctor Oobleck and said "It decoupled itself."

"What how is that possible?" asked Doctor Oobleck.

"I guess he really doesn't want us on this train." said Yang.

Doctor Oobleck then looks on as he sees the detached train cart explode in the distance "That's not good." he said.

"Neither is this!" Exclaimed Ruby, as she, Weiss and Rock are looking down another hatch.

"Another bomb!" Exclaimed Blake as she jumped onto the roof of the train.

"I'm going to shoot it." said Rock as he began to charge his buster.

"Don't, that will only set them off early!" exclaimed Doctor Oobleck, Rock nodded and then fired the charged shot at an incoming group of White Fang soldiers. Which all get knocked off the train.

Doctor Oobleck then runs ahead and checks more carts. He then exclaims "No. No. No!" They ALL have bombs!"

"This doesn't make sense!" said Yang.

More White Fang members made it onto the roof of the train, with one of them exclaiming "Get the humans!"

Team RRWBY and Snake then jump in and begin to fight the soldiers, Doctor Oobleck then looks behind then train and sees that it is being pursued by a horde of Grimm.

"He's leading Grimm to the city." said Doctor Oobleck.

"What?" asked Weiss.

"It's the cars! They detach and explode, creating openings for the Grimm!" Exclaimed Doctor Oobleck.

"That's insane!" Exclaimed Blake.

"What are we going to do?" asked Rock, as the train cart behind them detaches itself. It then rolls backwards into the distance and then explodes, increasing the number of Grimm following them.

"We have to hurry!" Exclaimed Doctor Oobleck, who then points at Rock, Weiss, Blake, Yang and says "You four, go below and try to stop those bombs!"

"What about us?" asked Ruby.

"The three of us are going to stop this train." said Doctor Oobleck, as Rock with his pets, Weiss, Blake and Yang jumped down the hatch and made their way into the train.

"Yeah I know, I said that earlier." said Ruby.

She, Doctor Oobleck and Snake then move forward on the roof of the train. But then the way gets blocked by several White Fang soldiers piloting stolen Atlesian mechs's

"This is going to be a problem." said Doctor Oobleck.

"We have to take them out." said Snake.

"But how?" asked Ruby

Doctor Oobleck then takes a sip from his thermos and then transforms it into it's weapon mode. Snake grabs a rocket launcher out of nowhere and aims it at the mechs.

"How did you get that?" asked Ruby.

"Don't ask questions you're not prepared to know the answer to, now close you ears." said Snake as he fired a rocket from his weapon and hits several mechs with it. Which blows them to pieces and makes the remains fall off the train.

Doctor Oobleck then lights his flamethrower, after which Zwei jumps into the air and gets hit by the solid part of the flamethrower. Which sends the dog flying in a ball of fire towards some more paladins causing them to explode. Zwei then returns to the group, receiving a pat from Ruby.

A single mech remains on the train, Ruby then asks "So what do we do about that one?"

"I say you take that one kid." said Snake.

Ruby nodded, held out her scythe, used her semblance and then dashed off. In a blink of an eye, the mech that stood there blocking the path got sliced to pieces. Which made the White Fang soldier fall off the train.

Ruby returned to Doctor Oobleck, who said "Well done Miss Rose, we should keep going before it is too late."

Ruby nodded and she then followed both adults as they made their way to the front of the train.

Inside of the train

On the inside of the train Weiss, Blake, Rock Yang, and the robotic pets have just entered another train cart after getting through the previous one. Only to be met with a platoon of sniper joe's.

"Oh you've gotta be kidding me." said Weiss.

"It's the four of us, against a platoon of sniper joe's." said Rock.

"I guess this is what we trained for." said Yang.

"Lets do this." said Blake.

The group then got surrounded by the sniper joe's and got held up by the busters of the robots. They then fired at the group, only for them to miss due to Blake's shadow clones being left behind. Allowing the group to get into the air and then land behind the robots.

Weiss used the ice within her rapier to slice up some of the robots, while Blake used the blade at the end of her whip to cut the robots in half. Yang then punched several of the sniper joe's through the torso causing them to explode. Rock then fired charged shot through the remaining sniper joe's, clearing the room of the robots.

"Well, that takes care of that." said Yang.

"Lets continue." said Rock.

They walked to the next door, which slid open. Giving Rock a strange feeling of deja vu. When they got inside they were greeted by a robot in the shape of a train, which then morphed into a robot.

"Oh great, of course you were going to be here." said Rock.

"Rock, who is that?" asked Blake.

"I am Charge Man, I look like a train and I was build with the purpose of taking over trains. Now if you ladies would be so kind as to move on, I have a score to settle with Rock over here." said Charge Man.

"And what if we don't, then what huh?" asked Yang.

"Then this will happen." said Charge Man as he pressed a button, which activated the bombs throughout the entire train and grabbed a hold of Rush, Beat and Tango. "Think you can beat me before the bombs go off?"

"Go, I'll be fine." said Rock.

"You sure?" asked Weiss.

"I have been doing this for years, besides I have been getting enough rest. I should be functioning at my full capacity." said Rock.

"Stay safe." said Yang.

"Don't worry, I will." Said Rock

Yang, Blake and Weiss then ran to the next cart. Charge Man chuckled, deactivated the bombs but keeping the pets captive and said "I guess people do have some intelligence, now lets do this."

In the next train cart Yang, Blake and Weiss stop for a bit when Weiss gives Blake a magazine filled with dust. "Here this should help you." said Weiss.

Blake nods and puts the magazine into her weapon, but then the girl with the umbrella drops from the ceiling and gets into a position to challenge the three girls.

"You two go ahead. This one's mine." said Yang as her eyes turned red from anger.

Blake and Weiss run ahead, Neo was about to strike them with her umbrella only for her to get distracted by Yang firing a round towards her. Which allows for Blake and Weiss to get to the next cart.

Yang and Neo then walk towards each other and begin to stare each other down.

In the next cart Blake and Weiss come to a halt when they see a large White Fang soldier wielding a chainsaw.

"You go ahead!" exclaimed Weiss.

"Got it!" Said Blake.

Blake and Weiss charge at the white fang soldier, Blake first delivers several slashes at the soldier, which creates an opening for Weiss to jump in to deliver multiple strikes towards the White Fang soldier.

The distraction allows Blake to reach the next, making the large White Fang soldier chuckle darkly before saying "Finally, I get to kill a Schnee."

Blake reaches the next cart and sees that it is the final cart controlling the train. There she sees Roman waiting for her.

"Hello, kitty cat. You miss me? You know, we really gotta stop meeting like this. People are gonna talk." said Roman. "Tell me, how is your back doing?"

Blake grabs her blade and stands opposite to Roman, who grabs his cane and points it at Roman.

Roman then asks "Why do we have to fight? I saw you at the rally, we're on the same side and you know it."

With Rock

Rock and Charge Man rushed towards each other, and while doing so Rock charged his buster. But then he noticed that Charge Man turned from pink to red, so he held his fire and instead dodged out of the way of the incoming robot.

When he looked around he saw that the robot was pink again, so he fired his charged shot at the robot. The shot hit and Charge Man then pointed the pipe on his head towards Rock and began to shoot hot coal from it.

The hot coals filled the room and rock jumped around it to dodge the projectiles, he was then able to land another hit with his charged shot. He then managed to get close to the robot and tried to punch him in the face.

He hit the robot, but it only made a small sound. Charge Man chuckled and said "What was that? You're not Pharaoh Man, Rock. Don't ever forget that."

"Yeah, and you shouldn't get distracted." said Rock, as he launched himself into the air and fired a charged shot into the pipe on the head of Charge Man.

Once the shot landed, Charge Man exploded leaving behind his memory chip and releasing the robotics animals.

Rock grabbed the memory chip, absorbed it and got the message "Charge Kick obtained."

Rock then noticed three monitors and saw Yang, Weiss and Blake fighting against their opponents and they all seemed to be doing quite poorly. He was about to help them, only to notice that the door remained locked.

"Crap not now." said Rock as he tried to punch the door open. When that didn't work he fired a charged shot which dented the door a small bit.

"Why won't you open!" Exclaimed Rock, as he began to beat on the door in desperation.

He then looked at the bomb in the cart and saw that he had three minutes left. "Oh no it activated during the fight, I'm going to die in here." Said Rock.

With Yang

Yang and Neo have been staring each other down for a bit, until Neo gives her a cocky smirk. Yang tries to punch Neo, only for her to get disoriented and knocked backwards by a bright flash coming from Neo's umbrella.

Neo then open her umbrella, while Yang dashes towards her and begins to unleash a flurry of punches at the shorter girl. But Neo manages to dodge the attacks, and with each missed punch Yang manages to get even more worn out.

She then tries to launch another punch at Neo, which gets blocked. Knocking Yang to her knees, she then tries to roundhouse kick Neo. Which gets blocked by Neo performing a spinning hook kick, which knocks Yang to the ground. Neo sees the opening and tries to perform a drop kick on the blond brawler.

Yang dodges by rolling away, gets back onto her feet and then tries to attack again by trying to punch Neo. Unfortunately Neo intercepts the punch by grabbing Yang's arm, and then kicks Yang into the stomach.

Neo then begins to use her umbrella to knock Yang around, until she gets pinned to the wall. Yang fires a shot from her shotgun gauntlets at Neo's feet, who dodges and then lands onto a crate.

Yang approaches her, only for Neo to launch herself upwards and kicks Yang on her back. Yang tries to grab Neo's leg, only for her to miss and Neo to grab Yang's leg instead. After which she launches the blond brawler into another wall. Knocking Yang out and to the floor.

Seeing that her opponent has been knocked out, Neo then grabs a hidden blade from her umbrella and is about to stab the knocked out Yang when a portal opens and a women wearing a Grimm mask and dressed in red comes through it.

Neo feels angry at being interrupted and charges at the woman. The masked woman tries to slice at Neo, who tries to dodge. Only to get slashed on her torso by the masked woman.

A disoriented Neo looks on as the masked woman puts her blade back into it's sheath and instead begins to fire several rounds at Neo who tries to dodge, but still gets hit by some of them.

Neo realizes how dangerous the situation has become, stands still. The masked woman slashes at Neo, only for her to get shattered to pieces. Indicating that Neo had escaped.

The woman looks at the the unconscious Yang, scoffs and says "Tch, pathetic. Letting your emotions get the better of you, you should have focused more."

The woman was about to create a portal, when she heard banging on the door behind. She sighed to herself and said "Guess I'm going to have to be the hero here."

She then sliced the door open, causing Rock to run into the room with his pets right as the cart had disconnected itself.

Rock looked around the room and saw Yang lying on the floor, he then saw the woman standing in the room. The sight caused Rush to growl at the woman.

"She's safe, don't worry. Now, I told you not to tell anyone you saw me. Then again, it doesn't matter. No one can fine me." said the woman, as she opened a red portal and left through it.

Rock then rushed over to Yang and tried to shake her awake. Yang then jolted awake with her eyes having turned red and slammed Rock into the wall.

"Yang! It's me, calm down! She's gone, she fled after knocking you out! You're safe!" Exclaimed Rock, causing Yang's eyes to turn back to normal.

"Rock, what happened to me?" asked Yang.

"You were knocked unconscious, now let me go." said Rock.

"I'm sorry." said Yang in shame.

"It's fine, we have to get to Blake and Weiss they may be in trouble." said Rock.

"Then lets go." said Yang.

The two then ran towards the door, only for it to not open. The two then began to punch their way through the door.

With Weiss

Weiss and the White Fang soldier charge at each other, the White Fang soldier uses his chainsaw to swipe at Weiss, only for Weiss to use lightning dust from her rapier to slow down time.

She then uses that chance to get out of the way and then slices at the White Fang soldier multiple times while time is still slowed down.

The effect then wears off, making the White Fang soldier feel the full force of the strikes and gets knocked backwards.

But then the White Fang soldier charges at Weiss again, only for Weiss to dodge out of the way. She then creates a path of glyphs under her feet towards the soldier and uses it to strike the soldier at a high speed.

This knocks the soldier into a wall, and disorients him. She then uses the ice from her rapier to encase the soldier into a slab of ice.

Weiss celebrates for a bit, but then the soldier breaks out of the ice. He charges at her and knocks her to the ground. He then grabs his dropped chainsaw and was about to kill Weiss when a charge shot disoriented him, after which he got combo'd by Yang delivering him a flurry of punches.

By delivering the final punch, Yang managed to knock the soldier through the final door. While she did that the pervious cart releases itself after which an explosion is heard.

Yang and Rock try to wake Weiss up by shaking her awake and trying to listen to a heartbeat. Weiss the gasps for air and looks into the eyes of her teammates.

"Hey you knuckleheads, sorry I lost." said Weiss.

"Don't worry, you held him off long enough for us to get here." said Rock.

"Yeah, we don't blame you. Now get up, I think we have to help Blake." said Yang.

Weiss nodded and then stood up. The trio, along with the pets, went through the door to help their teammate.

With Blake.

After taunting Blake, both fighters charge at each other. Roman tries to strike at Blake with his cane, only for Blake to dodge using one of her shadow clones. Only this one is infused with fire dust.

When Roman strikes it, it creates a explosion that knocks Roman into the air. Allowing Blake to deliver several strikes while Roman is airborne.

When he lands on the ground Roman fires several blasts from his cane at Blake, but she manages to dodge the attacks by using her shadow clones to get out of the way.

Blake then gets close to Roman, and the two begin to trade blows with their weapons. Roman uses his cane to try and hit Blake in the head, but Blake creates a shadow clone infused with ice which gets Roman's weapon stuck in the ice sculpture that was created as a result.

Blake then knocks Roman to the ground, and pins her blade to his neck. Making Roman taunt her with "Oh, still feisty. So, what are we going to do now? You think a little bow on top is gonna make people forget who you were? What you've done?"

The taunt distracts Blake long enough for Roman to swipe Blake off her feet with his cane. He then stands above her and points the barrel of his cane at her stomach and says "So what's it going to be, Blake?"

Roman was about to fire a blast from his cane, but then he got knocked out by the White Fang soldier getting knocked into him from the other room.

She then stands up and looks at the controls. There she sees that there is no way to stop the train. She then sees Yang, Rock, and Weiss approach her.

"The train can't be stopped, we have to get out of here." said Blake.

The others nod and run to the other direction to try and leave the train.

On the train

On the roof of the train, Ruby, Doctor Oobleck and Snake were fighting off more mechs. Doctor Oobleck then turns to Ruby and says "Ruby! Check how much time there is left!"

Ruby nods and rushes to the front of the train and sees that they had less than a minute before the train reaches the end.

Ruby calls to out to Doctor Oobleck "Doctor, it's less than a minute we have to hurry!"

"Very well Ruby!" Shouts Doctor Oobleck as he, Snake and Zwei rush towards her. At the same time Yang, Weiss, Rock and Blake climb to the roof and rush towards Ruby.

Ruby notices how beat up her teammates look, and asks "Are you guys ok?"

"We're fine, what is going on here?" asked Rock.

"The train is about to hit the wall over there." said Ruby.

"What do we do?" asked Blake.

"Leave it me, everyone come closer." said Weiss.

The group nodded and everyone huddled together. When they were close enough Weiss used her rapier to create a cocoon of ice around the group as the train crashed into the wall, knocking everyone out.

Meanwhile somewhere above Vale

An airship was flying above Vale carrying a White Fang member who was flying the airship and Adam Taurus who was being carried. He then noticed that an explosion had occurred in the center of Vale. Adam then noticed that the airship was flying closer to the city.

Adam then called out to the front "Hey! What is the big idea! Were supposed to be flying the other direction!"

When he got no response he called out again "Hey! Are you even listening!"

Once again there was no response from the pilot, he then went to the front to check out what was going on. Only to find dummy flying the airship on auto pilot. He then noticed a note addressed to him.

He looked at it and read 'Dear Adam, you will be used as a lesson for anyone who decides to betray the White Fang. Signed Scorpio'

"Dammit Scorpio, but I'm not going to die today!" He exclaimed.

Adam then looked around the cockpit in horror as he saw that there was a bomb getting ready to detonate at any second.

"I'm going to die, I have to get out of here." Said Adam, he then ran for one of the doors but then noticed that they were bolted shut from the outside. He then looked back in the cockpit and saw that there were ten seconds remaining.

He then ran to the back of the airship, smashed a window and jumped out of the airship, after which he let out one final curse before being caught in the explosion of the airship "Fuck you Scorpio!"

The centre of Vale

Rock woke up in the centre of Vale when he heard sirens all around him. He looked around, saw that his team had also woken up and had approached him. Once they reached him they pulled him to his feet, then Blake asked "Rock are you alright?"

Rock looked at the bars on his arm canon and saw that there was one bar left on it "Someone give me an energy tank, I'm on my last legs." said Rock.

Weiss pulled out an energy tank from one of her pouches and gave it to Rock, which completely restored his energy.

"Is everyone ok?" asked Rock.

"We're fine." said Ruby, but then from the rubble of the train wreckage entire swarms of Grimm erupted. Which then began to terrorize the entire city.

Following the Grimm was an army of robots, a robot dragon and a blob of yellow goo emerging from the rubble, beginning to destroy the city and stalking civilians.

"What have we done?" said Rock in shock.
