The Special Gems

It had been quiet in Skylands for a couple of weeks ever since the Corona outbreak on Earth and most of the Portal Masters stayed on Earth to keep the virus from coming over. But Isabel's friends came to Skylands to help protect it from Kaos, though luckily they haven't seen him in a while.

Because of the quiet and somewhat boredom, Isabel was taking a walk with Dr. Krankcase on a warm afternoon. The two walked side by side, enjoying the air as Isabel let the doctor look at her Emerald, playing with it in his hands. "So, you still trying to find the Chaos Emeralds?" He asked gently.

"Yes, but my search was delayed because of the Corona. I was mostly worried about catching it than finding the Emeralds. Since I'm temporarily on leave until I hear that we can come back, I'll try looking again. So far, I only found one," she said.

"Yeah, I feel bad that your world is going through a tough time," Krankcase said in sympathy. He put her Emerald in her jacket pocket and held her hand in a comforting manner. "But I'm pretty sure everything will be better soon."

Isabel nodded in agreement, the two looking and smiling at each other as they walked. "I'm sure too, Krank," she said and then squeezed his hand. "Thank you."

He kissed the back of her hand before noticing her Emerald flickering with a purple light. "Izzy, is that normal for the Chaos Emerald?" He asked.

She pulled it out, her eyes lighting up. "Yes," she said happily with a smile. "There's another Emerald here in Skylands. We have to find it before Kaos or someone else does."

The two of them started running in the direction that the Emerald was flickering the most. "Or before a Doom Raider finds it first," Krankcase teased, making Isabel laugh as she knew he was only kidding. They kept following the Emerald's inner compass until they saw Dr. Krankcase's old lab, which looks like his hat, as they stood on a cliff. It was run down as plant life climbed up all over it.

"Wow, call it fate or karma, but I never thought I would see that place again," he said, grinning.

"Well, the Emerald is here, I can feel it's power nearby," she said happily before gently pulling on his arm.

They made their way down and started looking around. "Nothing so far found. I think we have to look inside the place." He looked around, but didn't see Isabel with him. "Izzy?"

He felt one of his legs hit something right then and searched through the grass, finding a gem that was the same color as Tech Traptanium in an Octagon cut shape. He picked it up and saw the Tech symbol engraved on it. "What the heck are you?" He said before the gemstone started glowing brightly before engulfing him with its light.

Isabel was inside Dr. Krankcase's lab and to her delight found the cyan Emerald on a work bench. She then noticed her partner wasn't with her. "Oh gee, I accidentally lost him," she said nervously. "I hope he's okay."

She then left the lab and looked around before seeing a robot that was about ten feet tall with five wooden robot legs like Krankcase's. The legs had silver armor protecting the wood up to the knee-like joint. It wore a maroon silk coat over a silver chest armor with the gold Tech symbol on it. The two arms of the robot had silver and bronze cuffs on the wrist with a chain link dangling off of them. It also had black armored gloves with silver and bronze plating on the fingers and the back of the hands. A gold helmet protected the entire face but there was black glass shielding the eyes behind the helmet and above said glass were four ruby red gems embedded on the helmet that looks like spider eyes. In fact, the whole helmet looked like a spider head.

Isabel pulled out her sword, getting into defense as it looked at her. "I take it Krankcase built you as extra defense. You're pretty impressive, I have to admit," she said, bracing herself for an attack.

The robot bowed to her comment. "Thank you," it said. "But I wasn't built by him...I AM him."

He took off the helmet before the helmet disappeared in a flash of light. Isabel smiled when she saw Dr. Krankcase's face. "Okay, that's cool!" She said excitedly before becoming curious. "But...how?"

"I picked up a strange gem and then I transformed. I do wonder if there are other gems like mine but for the other Elements too," the Doctor explains. "Either way, I can't wait to see the look on Kaos' face when he sees me like this." He cracked his knuckles as he said that, chuckling a little.

"Well, I think you look awesome like this, Doctor. And look!" Isabel said excitedly, pulling out the cyan Emerald. "I found it!"

"That's great! I'm surprised that Kaos didn't come try to get the gems. But before I do figure out how to power down, there's one last bone I have to pick with you," he said, giving her a look.

Before Isabel could run away, Dr. Krankcase picked her up off the ground gently, putting her in his arms as he lifted the shirt that covered her sides. "Okay, okay, okay. I'm sorry, Krankcase," she said, laughing a bit in her words as he began playfully, yet gently, poking her sides. "I guess karma caught up and I'm paying for it."

She heard him softly hum an 'Uh-huh' before chuckling. "You regret shrinking me down to the size of a mouse now?" He asked.

"I didn't have a choice," Isabel said in defense as she squirmed in his arms as he continued the gentle pokes. "You were a villain back then. I know I apologized before, but I'm sorry for shrinking you, okay?"

She giggled as he let her up and they hugged. "I forgive you...again," Dr. Krankcase said. "And...thank you for making me the happiest Doom Raider. I'm having quite the better life than before. It's better than Cloudcracker or the Vault."

Isabel nodded in agreement, "I agree. You being a Sensei was a good choice, but I do miss you as a villain from time to time," she admitted.

The doctor chuckled. "You can miss the old me all you want, but he's not coming back. But since we found this new gem, I can't wait to do research on it and show it to Spy Rise and Blastermind."

She chuckled in amusement. "Okay, let's go before Kaos does decide to show up."

The doctor nodded in agreement, his body engulfed in light before powering down, returning to normal height and clothes, the gem returning in his hand and he looked at it, then put it in his coat pocket.

Once they got to the Academy, Dr. Krankcase showed Master Eon and Brain the gem that he found. "Interesting. You said it transformed you. Could it give you extra power?" Master Eon asked.

"To be honest, I'm not sure if it did because I was fooling around with Izzy. But I did feel stronger when I absorbed the gem," Dr. Krankcase admitted proudly. "But I did get a new look when I transformed. I just don't know how to power up to show you."

Master Eon gave him the gem. "Well it's something new. I never seen anything like this in all my life," he admitted.

"Me too, I don't know why a powerful gem would be at your old lab though," Brain added.

"Well it means it chose me and I'm happy. And that means I get to make a name for the new gem," Dr. Krankcase said excitedly, throwing his arms in the air while holding onto the gem.

"Well I wish you good luck in that and your research, Doctor. I'm sure your friends will help you along the way," Master Eon said with a smile.

"Oh, thank you, Master Eon," the Doctor said gleefully as he left the room. "I will not disappoint."

Later, he was in a room with Isabel, Luminous, Nightshade and Mags. Dr. Krankcase bought a journal to write down the start of a new discovery, but currently he was writing notes down on a note pad. "So, for the first step of my legal research, I need a name for the gem. And I would like your inputs or suggestions," he said.

The four were sitting down in the living room. Isabel was next to Krankcase on a love seat while Mags and Luminous was across from them while Nightshade sat on a chair to the side. "Elemenite," Luminous suggested and the Doctor wrote it down.

"Tech Stone," Nightshade added.

"Sky Crystal," Mags said.

"Elementstone," Isabel said.

The doctor wrote down the other three. "Do you think there will be more?" Luminous asked with a little excitement. "If I find one for the Light Element, I'm calling it Solarium and I'm keeping it."

"Duskinite for mine," Nightshade added. "I hope I'll look cool with my new form."

"Well, who knows if there are more of them like that out there. But I guess we'll be finding out soon enough to start this journey," Mags said. "For now, we focus on starting the research, and if we find more along the way, we'll get new info to put in the book."
Isabel nodded before holding the Doctor's hand. "And I know we got this and it'll be fun. I guess I'm finding something more than just the Chaos Emeralds now," she said.

"As well as finding them all before you-know-who decides to find out what we're doing," Luminous added. "This will be an interesting discovery for the ages."

Indeed, they all knew that was true and were excited to know about the new gems and where they came from.
