He watched her as she walked away from him and she never looked back. The second the door slammed behind her he knew it was the wrong thing to tell her. Maybe they could make it maybe they couldn't but he was willing to try and now that chance just got all blown to hell. He sees the orderly walk up to him and he knows that they're going to be at this for a little bit so he throws the cards on the bed and waits.

"So how's your shoulder today? Are you in much pain?" The orderly asks him.

Rick nods that he is in pain and then the orderly says,

"I'll get you some better painkillers. This way you can make it through the day without having to deal with the pain."

All Rick does is shake his head His eyes never leaving the door she walked out of.

The orderly takes his blood pressure, his temperature, and checks his bandages for seepage. He changes the chest bandage and slings his arm close to his body so it won't move. They want him to stay immobile and this will do the trick.

Will and Kate are sitting in the airport waiting for their flight back to New York. They look like a boring couple not really saying anything to each other but there is something hanging in the air around them. To anyone else, they would look like an old married couple. But that's not the case here.

"Well, 14 more hours and then back to reality," Will says to Kate.

Kate wants to get this off her chest and she doesn't know if this is the right way to go about doing it so she eases into the conversation.

"Will, I don't think we should get married."

The reaction she was expecting was nothing that he gave her. Oh, of course, he gave his shocked look and high-pitched voice when he said,

"What? How come?"

"Because I think it's wrong for two people to get married with something hanging over their heads."

"Oh God. Kate I'm sorry. I am so sorry." Will took her hands and kissed both of them.

Kate just looked at him not knowing what he was talking about her look went from being shocked to being outraged when he spoke once again.

"I was distraught I really was. But when she took off her blouse I just… I walked away. I did I went back to our room and I tried to go back to sleep. And then I thought of you. I didn't know if you were dead or what. So since I couldn't sleep I went back to her bungalow and Kate she answered the door with..."

Will makes the gesture of her being topless with his hands near his chest. And Kate quickly gets the picture. But she's going to need confirmation before she really believes what he's telling her.

"Who?"

"Angelica."

"You slept with Angelica!" She accuses.

"Who slept! Are you kidd…" Will has the decency to stop speaking now because apparently his now ex-fiance has put it together that he was sleeping with Angelica.

"Didn't you know?"

"How would I know? I was stuck on an island!" She tells him slightly upset.

"Wait a minute you just told me that there was something hanging over our heads. What do you mean?"

Kate looks at him and takes a long time to answer because she knows once she tells him he's going to use it against her. But they never slept together as he did with Angelica.

"Rick and me."

"Aa ha," Will says as he points his index finger at her in an accusing tone.

"Will something happened on that island. I never slept with him but there was something that happened between us that should have ever happened if we were.."

"In love." He finished for her.

Kate raises her hand and takes off the 2.5-carat diamond engagement ring he gave her and hands it to him. They look at each other knowing that now what they had is now over. Just then the airline announces their flight is ready to board. Kate grabs her overnight bag and her purse and Will picks up his carry on. They get in line and they wait to board. All the time they are standing in line Kate is looking at her ticket. She's debating something and she doesn't know if she should act on it or not. Will gives the gate attendant his ticket and gets his boarding pass in return. He leaves her standing there as he gets on the plane.

Is Kate's turn now to give the boarding attendant her ticket. She's still on the fence about leaving this island and looks for anything that could give her a straight answer. Not finding it, she hands over her ticket and gets her boarding pass returned just like Will's was. She walks down the jetway to the airplane, boards the plane and gets situated in her seat.

Rick climbs out of a jet black Bell 407 helicopter and thanks the pilot for the ride. The chopper takes off and Rick hightails it for the terminal hoping he's still in time.

He's running towards the terminal and his bad arm sorta-kinda breaks free from the sling he has it in. So he puts double the effort into running. The airport at Tahiti is a no-frills type of airport. That means that people instead of walking down a jetway climb stairs to their aircraft. But that's only for the smaller commuter aircraft which hop between island and island like he flies. He sees a group of tourists walking in a straight line from an airplane and he picks a spot in the line with the biggest gap as he runs through them apologizing as he does for hitting any of them.

He runs over to one of the aircraft ground crew and asks him where the plane is that's going to New York. The man that had just guided the 737 out of the terminal and onto the taxiway points to the aircraft as it is taxying on taxiway Lima 24 for its takeoff to the main runway.

"That's the plane going to New York." He tells Rick.

Rick watches as the aircraft makes a slight turn and starts throttling up down the runway. He watches as it lifts off into the air and as the landing gear retracts the only thing he can say is,

"God dammit."

He just stands there watching the plane fly away. He's got nowhere to go, no one to see, and he's all alone. He turns slowly and starts walking back towards the terminal to leave the restricted area of the airfield. As he's walking away he hears a very high-pitched voice and two men talking. He turns his head to the right and sees Pierre walking down the ladder of an airplane. The next person he sees is Kate. She's dressed in a short black dress and she seems to be arguing with Pierre.

"You don't understand I needed to get off the plane." He hears her telling Pierre.

He realizes that it's her and he slowly walks towards her but she can't see him because her back is to him. The gate attendant who took her ticket is telling her that she won't be able to get a refund because she actually got off the plane. As he gets closer he can see that she's frustrated and a little out of sorts.

The constables think that she is crazy. Who gets off a perfectly good airplane to stay here in Tahiti. So she tries to explain why she needs to stay but they're not understanding her. Then she thinks that they think there is something illegal in her luggage.

"Listen there is nothing illegal in my luggage. I just had to stay here I couldn't fly back to New York on that plane. I hope you can understand my position." She tells them.

Rick is just standing about 20 feet away from her and there is something about a connection that they have together. She knows that he is nearby and she turns her whole body to look his way. He is beyond happy and all she can say is,

"You're here."

Rick takes that as a sign to walk towards her and he does.

"Jean-Claude, Pierre s'il vous plaît, C'est mon ami."

Rick nods to the two men and starts pushing Kate backward.

"Why did you get off the plane? He asks her

Deciding to answer his question with a question she asks him,

"Rick, why did you come here?"

"I decided that my life is too simple." He really wants to kiss her right now on the tarmac but he needs to wait and keep his urges under control. But nothing is stopping him from staring at her.

"It is?"

"Yeah, it is. I want to complicate the hell out of it."

The second he says that she smiles and he returned her smile. Without any thought or agenda, she leans into him and kisses him soundly. It gets to be out of control when she starts running her fingers through his hair. They are on the tarmac after all. About 35 seconds later the kiss is cut short and Rick is trying to catch his breath. Never has he felt this way about a woman before in his life.

"So ah where are we going?" Kate asks Rick knowing that they're going to do something that requires them to take off all their clothes.

"Well, your place in New York right?" he asks her.

"Uh-huh," She tells him.

"I don't think I can wait that long. How about my place?"

"Oh yeah, your little house on the beach. That sounds great Rick let's go."

"It's not exactly a house it's more of a shack."

"A shack?"

"It's not much. But I call it home."

"Uh-huh. You do have a bed, don't you?"

"Are you going to be this fussy about everything?" Rick asks as he picks up her luggage from the tarmac and they walk off together to his place…
