Late night study

Just a simple, cute fic about the Best Friend Squad. The final season of She-ra comes out… tomorrow… and I just needed to make something wholesome before my heart is ripped into a million pieces :')

Adora, Glimmer, and Bow worked tirelessly on their next battle plan. As usual, Adora worked harder than the rest of the princesses when it came to coming up with new strategies. Glimmer and Bow decided to take it easy for a few minutes and allowed Adora to continue working by herself. Adora, however, didn't allow herself to take a single break for the whole day. By the time the sun went down, her head started to droop.

She stayed in Glimmer's bedroom, sitting in front of a small table that was cluttered with papers and pens. While she wrote down her ideas, Adora muttered out loud to herself, "If we attack head-on, they'll be ready for us. No, we have to try something else…"

Adora rested her chin on her hand as she desperately attempted to continue writing. Her tired hands slowly glided across the table as loud yawns escaped her mouth. Whenever her eyes closed, Adora jerked back awake and looked around the room to see how much time had passed.

Glimmer and Bow's indistinguishable chatter could be heard outside of the room. It got louder and louder, although Adora struggled to react. Her heavy eyelids and closing ears no longer cared about their surroundings.

Bow held open the door for Glimmer and the two walked into her room and immediately stopped at the sight of Adora sleeping at the center table. "Uhm… Adora?" Bow asked.

Adora jolted awake and spun her head around to face Bow, eyes wandering elsewhere. "Huh? Wha-?" She mumbled.

Glimmer's eyes were full of confusion and concern, "Hey, are you okay?"

"Oh yeah." Adora smiled as her head bopped from side to side. "I'm doing great. Come check out the plans I wrote." She could barely keep herself still as her body begged itself to lay down.

Glimmer and Bow walked over to the table and raised their eyebrows at the sight of the scrolls and papers; nothing but incoherent words and scribbles.

"See? Perfect plan, right?" Adora fell over frontwards, her face landing on a floor pillow.

Bow kneeled down next to Adora and placed his hand on her shoulder. "Adora, you need to rest." he said.

"Bow, I told you, I'm fine." Her voice could barely be heard as it was muffled by the pillow.

Glimmer gently grabbed Adora by her arm and helped raise her back on her feet. She giggled softly, "Come on, Adora. You work way too hard. Why don't you let Bow and I take this over for a while?"

Bow joined in, "Yeah! You go take a load off and Glimmer and I will work on this next battle plan!"

Glimmer struggled to keep Adora standing upright as the blonde started flopping around again. Adora grinned, "Yeah, yeah, sounds good-" Her stomach started to growl, "I'm hungryyy~". She walked out the door.

Glimmer shook her head, "Alright. Go eat and then take a nap- aaaand she's ignoring me."

The remaining duo both shook their heads and laughed among themselves. Bow grabbed more pillows before he sat down at the table. Glimmer immediately threw out the papers that were covered in scribbles and started writing on new ones. "Okay… Where was she?" Glimmer asked herself.

Bow picked up one of the Scrolls, "Looks like she left off on 'who to send in first'."

Glimmer tilted her head and sighed, "Normally Adora would transform into She-ra and attack first. But that's never worked out well." Her eyes rolled, "Catra knows her every move."

"That's probably because they grew up together." Bow suggested. "They were very close for their whole lives, you know… kinda like us."

"Yeah. Except we're not evil cat people or able to transform into eight foot tall warriors."

Bow folded his hands together and his eyes sparkled, "Oh, I wish I was sometimes."

The princess gave a playful smirk, "You wish you were an evil cat person sometimes?"

"Hah! No! An eight foot tall warrior!" Bow dramatically scanned his hand across his point of view. "Just imagine: Bow, The Giant Archer who will protect Etheria!"

"I can't imagine that." Glimmer said with her arms folded. "I'm too busy imagining you as an evil cat person." She curled her fingers to resemble cat claws and hissed at Bow.

The boy hissed at Glimmer in response, encouraging her to hiss back. "Hey, Evil Cat Person," he began, "We still need to write the next strategy."

Glimmer threw herself back on the pillow-covered floor and let out a groan, "Let's do it tomorrow."

"Okay. You hardly ever procrastinate. Are you alright?"

The princess stretched out her arms and yawned, "Of course I'm alright. We just haven't had time to ourselves in sooo long!"

Bow leaned his head to the side to meet Glimmer's gaze that was focused on the ceiling. "You've been missing me?"

Glimmer closed her eyes and quietly giggled. Bow didn't look away as he raised an eyebrow in confusion, "What are you laughing about?"

"I'm still imagining you with big cat ears."

The two burst into laughter and then Glimmer let out a huff, "Okay, okay. Fine, no more messing around. We have to get to work!" She picked up the pen and placed the tip on the scroll. Glimmer stared down at her pen without moving a muscle.

Bow watched in confusion, his eyes wandering as his face stayed pointed at Glimmer. She still didn't budge. "Uhh… Glimmer?" Bow lifted a finger.

"What, Bow?"

"You aren't writing anything."

"That's because I'm thinking-"

Glimmer's eyes closed and her head dropped forward. Bow caught her right before her face landed on the table. "Maybe we should call it a night." Bow whispered.

Adora had returned to Glimmer's room, more awake and ready to study. She opened the door quickly, then froze at the sight of Glimmer and Bow sleeping sitting up, back-to-back. Adora couldn't help but smile. She tip-toed over to the table and kneeled down next to her friends and carefully laid them down on the floor. Adora then quietly adjusted her own pillow to lay her head on. Within an instant, she had fallen asleep peacefully.
