Author's Note: So first chapter in a new story, Shield Hero is a concept that I've wanted to do some playing around with for a while and in particular taken the three stooges out of the picture and replacing them with actually competent people from other franchises. So with that in mind allow me to make the official fan fiction debut of Setsuna of Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon. Please, Review, Favorite and Enjoy!

Chapter 1: A Summoning

Earth B: Osaka, Japan. October 31st 2095 9:25 AM

Subject Male, 25 years of age, head wound 5 centimetres deep, 3 centimetres wide. Dead 20 seconds. Regrow? Confirmed.

The light was loosed from the Silver Gun and hit the first of the fallen Japanese soldiers, the wound that had killed him gone like it was never there as he stood back up on his feet. In truth it never was. Next his attention was turned to the soldiers who were shooting at him.

Male 30 years of age, healthy appears terrified, assault rifle of unknown make and model in his hands. Decompose? Confirmed.

The other gun loosed a far more lethal projectile, the kind that turns a persons body into so much smoke loosed into the air. Before a second target was locked a explosion of psions hit the flying sniper dead in his mid section knocking him out of the air and crashing into a electronics store.

Subject Male, 18 years of age, stomach wound bisecting body 18 centimetres wide, 3 centimetres deep. Regrow? Confirmed.

When he awoke the sniper noted that he had landed on a display case for something called 'Dimension Wave' a video game, wholly irrelevant to him. For now what mattered was getting back to the battlefield. And that was when the corridor of light appeared and sucked him inside.

'Alert Mind altering magic detected Regrow immediately'

The Magicians were disturbed, watching one of their summoned heroes shoot himself in the head. But it was necessary to purge the mind altering magic as soon as his armored suit's systems detected his compromised mind. Now to regrow the others.

"Hey wait what are you...?"

Subject Male, 17 years of Age, Healthy, unknown magic Sword in hand

Earth C: Hagun City. October 15th 2015 5:40 PM

Thank the gods for regeneration tubes. After the crud he was put through by that no good ethics committee his body felt like it was on the verge of collapse. Well, he couldn't blame his father for that, he usually felt that way after using Ittou Shura, let alone the more powerful Ittou Rasetsu that he had just learned. Still just getting out of the tube gave his body a feeling of relief.

"Is there any problem Mr. Kurogane?" Ah. Kurogane. That unpleasant reminder of how he got into this situation.

"Um. No. No problem." Now that his checkup had finished the next order of business was the school's training camp.

Bizarrely he found himself being led over to a warehouse like building with several regeneration tube like things lined up in front of him.

"How familiar are all of you with the concept of VR Games?" The Head Mistress had gathered the other candidates for the Seven Sword's tournament inside of the warehouse. "I will cover the relevant details with all of you. The long and short of it is that one of the school's sponsors, Emerald Dawn Online, has agreed to set up a private server for us for all of you to train inside of. Using the principle of compressed time acceleration one week inside of the environment will be equal to one hour outside. In theory we can use this to increase the time you can spend training in the weeks to come many, many times over."

"Of course, that only applies to honing our skills." Ikki Kurogane pointed out looking at the pods suspiciously.

"The pods are equipped with full body kinetic vibrators, 15 minuets a day should be more than enough to build up plenty of muscle tissue, now no more complaining get into the pod." Saying that Ikki and his classmates were directed into the pods and put on the helmets, is what Ikki would've liked to do, but he suddenly found himself falling down a magic lined hole and landed with a hard thump on his behind.

"Ugh. What happened?" The sword's man looked around the room, before he got shot, not with a bullet mind you, some sort of device that fired bursts of magical energy, before a second volley was fired at the woman standing behind him.

Subject Female, 134 years of Age, Healthy, Unknown Magic Spear in Hand Warning: Large portion of non-human DNA detected

Earth D: Edo Village. September 28th 1615 9:15 PM A beautiful black haired young lady was seated on a cushion poring herself a cup of tea as she looked out at the moonless sky. Her sleepy eyes wandering over to the staff wielding imp who had carried in a trey full of baked goods.

"I understand that the monthly transformations are unpleasant for you miss Setsuna but please remain calm." The imp stated as he offered his young mistress the trey of treats.

"I am calm Jaken." The young black haired woman stated though her tone of voice was slightly annoyed. "What about the colony?" The Imp handed his mistress a folder.

"Is it really necessary to set up a colony milady? Surely with the power of you and your father..."

"That question proves your immaturity." The woman named Setsuna stated as she leveled a glare at the little green man. "To ensure the present that we have been given we must protect the existence of Kagome, and her role that she has played. There are no Yokai running around in her Japan, therefore we must relocate our people to somewhere safe for them, somewhere that is out of sight of her Japan."

Her father refused to take the risk, not a single one. While he was out rounding up the rest of their people she was going to do as much work as possible to make that goal a reality, and that included the administrative paper work. Opening the folder Setsuna was surprised to see a book in and among the papers.

"Jaken what is this?" The black haired woman asked waving the book in the air for the imp to see.

"That is the personnel survey that you requested." The imp stated as he left the room.

"Hm." Opening the book Setsuna started to read it's contents. "The Four Holy Heroes weapons manual." Setsuna stated as she started to read. "'In order to save the world from the Waves of Apocalyptic Catastrophe Four Heroes will be summoned from another world by the Red Haired Princess." What sort of cheap story book was this suppose to be? "The Princess is a horrible and manipulative politician who was obsessed with the heroes. She constantly cast flirtatious glances to each of the heroes while constantly making them compete for her attention.'" A female antagonist? Well she suppose she had to give credit for it being progressive. "'Each hero will wield one of four legendary weapons, a sword, a bow, a shield and a Spear.'" This was not a personnel report, but Setsuna could use a distraction from the blighted night sky looming over her head. "'The sword hero is a determined and straight forward warrior without match in skill. The Bow hero is a highly intelligent spell caster capable of wreaking vast destructive power against his enemies. The Shield hero is a compassionate healer who never looses his will to help others even in the darkest of times. And The Spear Hero...'" Setsuna opened the next section of the book to a blank page. "What...? Where's the best part? The bloody shield hero got... more... bill..." And then Setsuna fell unconscious.

Setsuna's eyes snapped open to the feeling of her skin crawling. The light of magic went over her body, that must have been what made her skin crawl. The black armored man wielding the silver guns next aimed at the man who was standing dumb founded behind her and fired one last time.

Subject Male, 20 Years of age, Healthy, unknown Magic Shield in hand

"Now that I've removed your mental manipulation magic." The Black armored man, ornate bow wrapped around his frame left unused, next turned his other gun on the men in the magicians robes. "Why don't you give an explanation on what is going on here?" A spark of lightning cracked throughout the room causing the silver pistol to fly out of his hand. "Hmm. That's going to be a problem."

'Weapon Copy activated, 'Silver Horn' level locked 100'

"What the hell is going on here!?" The sword wielder snapped, he quickly found the two handed long sword in his hands and aimed it threateningly at the entire room. "Where's my classmates!?"

"What did you do to us!?" Setsuna locked her features onto the black armored man, being kidnapped was one thing, but she was far more concerned with his mention of mind altering magic. "My armor detected the use of mind altering magic against me, as a precaution I assumed the same applied to the three of you as well." The black armored man stated his tone of voice implying his logic was infallible.

"Everyone calm down." The shield barer forcibly lowered Setsuna's spear and the sword hero's titular weapon before handing the man in the black armor back his weapon. "Our hosts are about to explain what's going on." They looked like they had some big speech prepared but the exchange just now looked like it left them bewildered.

"Please heroes save our world!" Was the sum of what they could spit out.

"From..." Setsuna vaguely recalled the book she was reading when she got here. "The 'Apocalyptic Waves of Catastrophe?'" The Summoners nodded their heads looking relieved. Setsuna swung her spear at the summoners cutting their hoods off in the process, five men, three bald, two brown haired, and a woman with blonde hair. "Which one of you is the princess?" The men looked around confusedly.

"The Princess?" The Sword hero asked cocking his brows suspiciously. "Think that trip over messed you up more than I think."

"The Bitch who summoned us, according to that not too informative book that brought us all here." Setsuna growled angrily.

"Book? I was in a VR Capsule just now." The Sword hero stated suspiciously.

"I landed in a electronics store, there was no books in sight." The Black Armored man, the Bow hero it would seem, piped up.

"'Landed?'" The Shield Hero asked looking concerned.

"Please at least let us bring you to our king!" Suspicious the four heroes followed them out of the room, The black armored Bow Hero picking up the magic spear that seemed to play a role in this summoning business. "Please sir Hero that is a sacred artifact of our people!" One of the summoners noticed the Bow hero man handling the spear, the others noticed it changed from a gold and white spear into a gold and white bow.

"Did it help you to bring us here?"

"Ahh..."

"I will interpret your silence as a yes." Something like a notification that you'd receive while browsing on your computer popped up in front of Tatsuya's face.

'Weapon Copy activated, 'Coronacht' level locked 80.' The Bow Hero for the time being dismissed the notification deciding that he had other things to concern himself with.

"Oh cool a transforming weapon! Let me see!" The Shield Hero stated holding out his hands.

"See what you make of it." The bow Hero stated as he tossed the weapon at the shield Bearer. Again the weapon transformed this time taking the form of a large tower shield with a huge gold cross in the middle.

'Weapon Copy activated, 'Aegis' level locked 80.'

"Do you know what this is talking about?" The Shield Hero asked pointing at the shield.

"Coronacht was the name of the heart seeking bow given to Cupid in Greek Mythology. Beyond that I'm just as lost as you are." The Bow hero stated as they continued to walk up the stairs.

"Yeah but this just said Aegis." The Shield hero stated pointing at the shield in question.

"Hmm." The Summoners took them up a spiral stair case which conveniently enough had a window overlooking a castle town. Setsuna looked into the sky, luckily there was a moonless night, she could work off of that for now, but it required that she act with some urgency if she wanted to take advantage.

"Hey what do you two make of this?" Setsuna picked up the shield and looked at it curiously as it turned back into a spear. 'Weapon Copy activated, 'Brionac' level locked 80.'

"I have no idea what this means." Setsuna stated dismissively as she dropped the spear.

"Careful with that we might need it!" The Sword Hero stated as he picked up the golden spear and watched as it transformed into a sword.

'Weapon Copy activated, 'Excalibur' level locked 80.'

"Do any of you know what 'level locked' is suppose to mean?"

"That is not a toy!" One of the summoners angrily took the shape changing weapon back and hurriedly moved to separate himself from the heroes. From the summoning room the four of them were led into a throne room where a large number of noble looking people were gathered around a grey haired old man on a throne, the king they presumed.

"So the the four of you are the heroes of legend? Allow me the pleasure of welcoming you to our Kingdom of Melromarc." The king sized each of the four of them up before continuing. "I am the King of this nation, Aultcray Melromarc the 34th. Raise your heads heroes and state your names."

"Tatsuya Shiba." The Bow hero started off the introductions.

"Ikki Kurogane." The Sword Hero stated with the follow up.

"Kagome Higarashi." The only woman among the heroes lied, having zero interest in giving her name away to these people, less they use some strange magic on her again.

"Nao..."

"Good. Tatsuya, Ikki, and Kagome. I will remember them." The king stated sounding distinctly like he already had all the information that he needed to know.

"Ah yo king! You forgot about me." The only one who hadn't been able to speak his name yet chose this moment to pipe up.

"Ah yes forgive me." The look on the king's face was like someone who had been made to do something unpleasant.

He got no sympathy from the other heroes, where they come from when you ask for someone's name you wait for them to answer you.

"Naofumi Iwatani." The final hero piped up, to the displeasure of the people gathered in the court was soon made known.

"Now for the matter that we have called you here."

"Is he ignoring me?" Naofumi was left comically stunned by the king's complete dismissal. "We have called you because our country and the world surrounding have come under threat from Waves of Calamity..."

"I refuse." Setsuna stated bluntly.

"I second the motion." Tatsuya was quick to follow up.

"Excuse me?" The king was honestly surprised by the latest turn of events.

"Ignoring the ethical matter of forcibly abducting people from their homes and gang pressing them into service in your army I was in the middle of something!" Setsuna followed her earlier snap up with another.

"And what was so important that the problems you faced in your world makes light of the destruction of ours?" The King asked looking to be thoroughly insulted.

"My home land just finished ripping itself apart from a four centuries long civil war! Monsters roam the country side preying on the civilians, and my people are on the verge of extinction!" Setsuna stated making it quite clear that to her, the problems she faced back in her home land were just as dire as these so called waves.

"Your war might have ended but mine is just getting started. I was part of a unit fighting off a full blown invasion by another country. For all I know everyone I care about could have died in the fires of a nuclear hell by now, including my sister." Tatsuya was far calmer with his declarations, but there was a fury in his tone that was hard to miss.

"I... I'm sorry." The king had a tone of legitimate remorse in his voice as he realized what he had done. "But I know not of a way to send the four of you back to your worlds beyond defeating the waves."

"Fine how many of them are there!?" Setsuna asked the sheer unadulterated anger in her voice having not even come close to disappearing yet.

"I do not know..." The king was being suppressed by Setsuna's rant.

"When and where will they appear?" The tactician in Tatsuya was already thinking about what the most efficient ways to suppress these so called waves were, the conclusion he came up with went along the lines of 'nuke it from a safe distance.'

"The Dragon Hour Glass in our church counts down to the waves, and by registering with it you and your parties will be automatically transported to the sight of the wave." Tatsuya and Setsuna made to leave before the relevant question registered to them.

"'Parties?'" Ikki asked the subject confusing the non-gamer in him, and drawing the attention of the two who were about to leave.

"Do you not have status magic where you come from?" The King asked genuine concern on his features. "There should be a icon in the bottom right corner of your vision, can you concentrate on that?" Ikki looked down to his right and indeed saw the Icon the king was talking about. Suddenly the Icon turned into a HUD that took up the borders of his vision.

"Whoa." The other three quickly followed after him and were soon greeted by their own HUD's.

"That HUD will tell you everything you need to know about how our world and your weapons works. The day is already over, I suggest taking the night to read through your help menus." The king waved over several maids. "My servants will take you all to the rooms we've prepared for the night, in the morning you will meet the companions we've prepared to aid you on your journey." Saying that the four of them were led away. That said it didn't take long until they were led to their rooms.

"You." Setsuna used her spear to point accusingly towards one of the maids. "We will require a fresh change of clothes for the morning. I specifically will need a hat and something to cut my hair with left outside of my room door." The Spear wielder demanded before she then singled out the next one. "As for you, thanks to your summoning ritual I missed my supper tonight: steak cooked rare with fried vegetables on top."

"Of course. Will the other heroes require anything as well?" The maid asked turning her attention over to the others.

"Salad." Ikki asked politely.

"Rice for me." Naofumi chimed in.

"I'd like curry." Tatsuya finished off. The maids looked between each other confused.

"Vegetables." Setsuna explained pointing at Ikki. "Grains fried with meat and vegetables." Then at Naofumi. "Spiced meat and vegetable stew." Setsuna finished off pointing at Tatsuya.

"Understood." The second maid ran off.

"I trust your castle has a library yes? You will take me there at once." Setsuna stated causing the third maid to panic.

"Uhm. Why exactly do you want to go to our library?" Setsuna pressed the blade of her weapon to the neck of the third maid as if it answered her question. "The royal librarian is very particular about the arrangement of the library, it is not a good idea to disturb him."

"Then you two will go down there and bring me maps of this country, books of it's laws, as well as texts detailing it's history." Setsuna stated though the two women looked confused between them as if wondering what they should be doing.

"NOW!"

"AAAIIIEEE!" Thus the two girls bolted off as fast as their legs would carry them.

"Whoa, she's hardcore." Naofumi stated prompting a nod from a stunned Ikki.

"Alright. Now that I've dealt with the spies, team meeting, now." Setsuna led the four of them into the largest of the four rooms.

"Is what the two of you said about the state of where you live true?" Ikki started the meaning off with a question that had been bothering him for some time now.

"Entirely." Setsuna stated as she folded her arms and sat down on the bed.

"Did you think I'm standing here wearing full body armor because I was going to a cosplay convention?" Tatsuya asked his tone full of biting sarcasm.

"I hoped it wasn't true." Naofumi added letting out a sigh. "It speaks poorly of the state the world was in when I left it."

"About that." Ikki held his hand out and made a black blade appear from thin air, leading to the other three to be instantly put on guard.

'Weapon Copy activated. 'Intetsu' Level Lock Ten.'

"Based on your reactions none of you have ever seen a device before." Ikki stated as he dismissed the blade from where ever it came from. "Let's pool together our information, after that we can work on sorting through these so called Help Menus."
