Kiara had planned to make it back to her home before rethinking about turning back around to John B's place. In reality she only made it halfway. She'd been walking along the street when she realised that she was continuously glancing at a store across the road and before she was aware, her feet were leading her towards it.

With the bell in the store announcing her presence, she realises she doesn't have a plan. Politely stepping out of the way from an exiting customer, she has a quick survey around and spots orange juice in a set of fridges against the back wall and decides to start there. "Can't go wrong with orange juice" she mumbles to herself under her breath while her brain ticks away for other things to find.

By the time she shuts the fridge she's realised she has no idea what he has at home in the way of medication. Knowing that he doesn't get sick often and tends to just sleep it off she figures he probably doesn't have anything – at least that hasn't expired. So, she grabs a few things from the shelves, as well as a box of tissues before heading to the counter.

Her loud footsteps wake John B from where he fell asleep on the couch, as she walks back into the Chateau. But it was fine, she hadn't made it a point to be subtle.

"I thought you were pissed off at me" he mumbles groggily.

"I am" she says shortly as she puts the bag she carries on the table.

"If you're here to fight with me, you can leave" he rubs a hand over his eyes. "I can't be bothered."

"I'm not" she tells him before finally looking at him. "Right now, I think you are a sorry excuse for a human being. But you need someone to look after you."

"I don't need looking after, I'll just sleep it off."

"I know that's what you normally do, but it's never been during a time sensitive treasure hunt. Now we need you to get better fast."

John B seems resigned to the fact that there is no way out of it and stands up to walk over to Kiara.

"Do you have a fever?" she asks when he stops next to her.

He shakes his head and makes a noise of dismissal.

Though that doesn't stop Kiara reaching forward to check anyway. It doesn't really surprise her that he slaps her hand away, and it doesn't really surprise him when she slaps him back on the shoulder. But in the brief second that she was allowed to touch his forehead she was able to gage that he didn't have one. "No fever" she states before pulling items out of the bag.

With her shoulder turned to him, she misses John B's look of 'I told you so.'

"Go take these" she turns to him after shaking out a couple of tablets from various bottles.

With a nod of agreement, he holds out his hand and she tips them into it, as well as handing him the bottle of orange juice. While he takes them over in the kitchen, Kiara moves over to sit on the couch in the lounge.

Within a minute John B comes over holding two glasses of orange juice, one of which he hands to her. She smiles at the peace offering as he sits down next to her.

"I'm sorry you missed out on fishing" he says.

Kiara makes a sound of dismissal as she takes a sip from the cup. "Be good for them to have a boys' day… Well minus one" she says after looking at John B next to her. "And I'm not sorry I made you miss out."

John B chuckles while Kiara is distracted by her phone buzzing next to her.

"What is it?" John B asks after Kiara groans exaggeratively.

"Mum's got me another dress fitting tomorrow" she complains turning off her phone and throwing it onto the couch next to her.

"Oh, Midsummers" John B muses to himself as he remembers.

"How many dress fittings do I need?" she runs her hands over her face before dropping them on her lap. "I won't be able to fit it by the end of the night anyway, we all know that I'm just going to hangout by the snack table."

"Pope and his dad will be there. Hang out with them" John B suggests.

"There's no way, my mum probably won't let me out of her sight" she dismisses quickly before pausing. "You don't think you could get me sick so I wouldn't have to go?" she asks half serious.

John B shakes his head and scoots further away from her into the corner of the couch. "Your mum would still make you."

"Probably right" she mumbles.

"You could just try talk to them. Not all of them are bad" John B suggests.

"Are you serious, right now?" Kie turns on him. "And is Sarah Cameron the basis for your judgement?"

"Hey, I thought you weren't here to fight with me" he deflects.

"I'm not" Kiara denies, although she kind of is fighting with him. She huffs heavily and crosses her arms, deciding against saying anymore.

"Whatever" John B sighs. "I'm going to sleep" he says snuggling down into the corner of the couch.

Kiara doesn't spare him more than a glance as he seemingly drifts out of consciousness, and a silence falls upon the room.

For awhile Kiara sits there in silence unmoving until she decides to uncross her arms and angle herself to face John B on the other end of the couch. He looks peaceful with his eyes shut and his breathing steadying out. It's not often that she sees him like this since he never really sits still.

"John B?" she whispers checking if he's fallen asleep.

"John B?" she repeats when he doesn't stir.

He doesn't mean to be deceptive but not being bothered to reply, he doesn't say anything.

Tucking her legs up to her chest as if they would provide her with some sort of protective barrier, Kiara takes in a deep breath before she begins, "do you remember when you kissed me?"

She keeps her voice low as she speaks, thinking he's asleep and not wanting to wake him in the middle of her spilling her thoughts. "Cause I think about it a lot – well more often than you'd think" she quickly corrects. "I know I brushed you off and we both blamed it on you freaking out but… I liked it."

She swallows thickly waiting a few seconds in suspense, wondering if she's woken him up. John B figuring that this wouldn't be a good time to reveal that he's still awake, remains still.

When he doesn't move, Kiara lets out a breath she hadn't known she was holding and continues, "when I said I didn't mind, it was just the rules getting in the way, I really didn't… I really didn't mind."

John B feels the couch shift and hears the clinking of bracelets as Kiara runs her hands through her hair.

"Then you moved onto Sarah so quickly" the quietness of her voice amplifies its sadness. "And it kinda hurts me – it does hurt me – because now I wish that was me… It's just like she's taken so much from me, and now she's taken you."

Kiara draws in a shaky breath as she lowers herself down into the couch, leaning away from him. Stretching her legs out slightly so that their feet almost touch. "I just want you to come back to me. I don't want to lose you to her" her voice fades out as she settles into sleep.

As her eyes close, John B's opens and he sees her in a whole new light. For awhile now he had thought that she might feel something for him, though figured he was just seeing what he had wanted to. Now knowing that he hadn't been, it made his decision more difficult. It was something to think about.
