"I think you dropped this!" A slim figure walks up to him.

Puzzled, he shrugs. "I saw you play, you're something else"

He open his mouth for a ironic comment. "Brett! Hey! I've got Two Bestiaries! Wanna decode them with me!" He pauses and they both turn. Mason is carrying two large books and trying to run with them under his arms. Brett makes sure to run at a normal pace, offering to carry them both. "Thanks!"

"No problem"

They walk back to the car, only to stand in awkward silence as Monroe is still there. Staring at them both. Grin in a clench, ball wrapped tightly in her hand. Mason instantly smiles at her. "Hi!" He holds out his hand, but she doesn't take it. Or smile back. She steps back, a cautious look at Brett, before she struts off into the darkness.

"What was that about?"

"Who cares? Humans are weird" Brett takes his other book gently and opens the car door. He puts the books on the backseat looking over at the other side. "Oh!" He smirks a little when he senses Mason right by his side, a little to close for friends, but it's Mason, so he's not complaining.

"Brett are you okay?" Mason asks, getting on tiptoes to look at him properly.

Brett slides a hand against his face to hide himself blushing.

"Of course I'm fine, Late night training is always a bitch"

"You just look really pale, that...uhh...counsellor, that was just here, did she do anything?" He asks.

"Even if she did, you gonna fight her off Mason?" He lightly chuckles.

"I've learnt a few MMA moves!" Mason smiles back.

"Great, the next time some weird girl pounces on me, it's nice to know I've got your protection" He cupped an arm around his waist to bring him closer. He can hear the deep sigh of surprise rising in Liam's best friend's throat. "You're worried about me" He purrs, bringing his lips against Masons, gently pinning him to the car as his tongue passed his lips. He tastes of cherry cola and nervousness.

He strokes the small of his back as Mason gently pushes him away with his palm.

"Brett, Corey! Why are doing this? You have half of Beacon Hills on standby, and I've got an awesome boyfriend! What are we doing?"

"Mase I know exactly what I'm doing. Do you?" Brett said, stroking his hair up.

"I'm...I'm gonna walk home"

"No way, I'm a gentleman, I'll take you home" Reluctantly Mason gets in. Deliberately in the back, so they both can't be tempted. Distracting himself, he opens the books and pretends to be more interested in them than his currently is. Brett starts the car. "Why are you here this late anyway?"

"Research?" Mason nods.

"On how to obtain a better boyfriend?"

"Not funny. It's not my fault you're a complete tease!" Mason whines. Brett immediately turns the engine off.

"Tease? You know I like you right?"

"Yes! I'm in the friendzone" Mason replied, like they'd had this talk a thousand times, but they hadn't.

"No, I mean I like, like you. You're only dating Corey cause you feel sorry for him" Brett tells him.

"I'm dating Corey because I really like him" Mason huffed.

"As much as you like me?" The were asks.

Silence.

"Think about that answer on the way back" Brett rolls his eyes and starts the ignition. Making Mason squirm was fun, but he also had a pack to get home to himself...
