Keep Fighting – Following a Very Medoran Kaldoras
It's the Kaldoras after everything. The trip. The war. The end. Now everything is kind of getting back together again. But not for Alex. She can't cope with herself, the guilt of what happened, but didn't. This is her life after the war. Can everything get back to how it was?
(Advised to read the whole Medoran Chronicles and a very Medoran Kaldoras before reading this)
Who are you?
Alex gasped loudly, the pie falling from her fingers and smashing on the ground.
"No. No. Who are you? How are you here? What are you doing here?" Alex said, starting to walk back slowly.
"Well, well, well. Hello dear Alexandra." The figure replied. Alex continued to back away until she bumped into a tree, trying to put as much distance between herself and the figure standing in front of her.
"I'm sorry, but who are you?" Alex responds scanning the figure up and down, taking in his gap-toothed grin, matted dark hair and scarred face. There was a scar that ran from his cheek, up to his eyebrow, giving him a lined and wrinkled look. But Alex was one hundred percent sure of one thing. She had never seen this person before.
"Oh, I'm surprised you don't know me. I'm Yaele Fryxon, a good friend of Aven Dalmarta."
Just the name sent shivers down Alex's spine. He held out her hand for Alex to shake, but Alex pointedly ignored it.
"Ahh, no thanks," She said, indicating to the outstretched hand. "but I have a couple of questions. How did you get here, why are you here, and where is Aven?"
"Well," he began, "I have been here a long time, long before you dropped the Rebel Prince in here. I was sent here thousands of years ago, the night after you visited when Eanraka showed you this place. I was trying to get into your time through the door, seeing if I could take up the offer you declined. But I was fooled, and trapped in here by Eanraka, knowing that there was no way out. And the young prince, I have no idea where he is, but all I care about is if you could get me out of here, because I have heard that you are Chosen by the library."
Alex took all this in, frightened by this man.
"I'm sorry but I can't help you with that." She said, turning away slowly, "I might just go back now…"
"You will not!" Yaele shouted, launching himself at her. Luckily, her Meyarin reflexes were too quick, and she only managed to get swiped by his nails. She silently willed a door, hoping it was quick, when Yaele pulled a knife from his thigh, throwing it at her, just as she disappeared through the doorway…
She fell through the painting, noticing something sharp stick into her upper calf, feeling as though hundreds of needles were stabbing into her leg.
"Alex!" a voice yelled, Kaiden's. She heard him run over to her, cushioning her head brushing sweat starting to form on her forehead.
"What happened?" He asked.
"There was someone… someone else there." Alex replied, groaning when a wave of pain erupted in her leg.
"Come on," Kaiden said, picking her up carefully, calling Soraya, who whisked them into Fletcher's Med Ward in a flash of shadows and light.
"Fletcher!" He called, placing Alex on a bed, who was slowly turning a pasty grey colour. Surprisingly, Fletcher was in his office, wearing casual clothes, and a lab coat over his arm. Apparently, he didn't want to spend Kaldoras anywhere but at Akarnae, but maybe he couldn't if there were some students staying behind.
"What happened?" He asked, putting the lab coat on and picking up a pair of gloves. He put them on, examining the knife still stuck in Alex's leg. There was blood gushing out of the wound, but it was at least an inch deep.
"She went to visit him and came back like this. Apparently, there was someone else there. I don't know who though." Kaiden responded.
"Alex can you tell me if you think there was any poison on the knife." Fletcher questioned.
"I don't think so," she said quietly, "it was strapped to his thigh."
Fletcher nodded to himself, giving Alex a dark green vial with simple instructions to "drink".
Alex obeyed, gulping it down, before quickly relaxing from her tense posture, sinking into the bed.
Fletcher took out his scanner, bring up a three - dimensional image of Alex's leg, examining it, before switching it off and putting it away.
"Looks like most of it is flesh, but the knife has also hit the gastrocnemius, the main muscle in your calf. That's why it was causing you an extreme amount of pain, but in a few days, you'll be right to walk again. You'll have to go easy on it though."
"Ok," Alex said, releasing a breath, "just fix me now."
Fletcher then got to work, removing the knife, stitching it up, and sending Alex out on a high dose of medication, with a couple of vials for the next two days. Alex jumped off the bed, before tripping over her own feet, and almost face planted if it wasn't for to strong arms bounding around her like a life vest and pulling her upright. Finding this extremely funny, Alex burst out laughing, resting her head on Kaiden's shoulder. She was not fully intoxicated from the medicine, but slightly hyper, Kaiden looked up at Fletcher, who shrugged and walked off to his office.
"Ok Alex, help me out here." Kaiden asked, before whipping Alex off her feet, carrying her bridal style out the doors, and up the path to her dorm. It was late in the evening, too late for dinner, and a light chill was settling in the air. He pushed open the door, carried her down the hallway, before dropping her at her doorway. Swaying slightly, Alex lent on Kaiden, before using her hand to open the door to her empty dorm. She stumbled in, limping slightly on her damaged leg, before flopping down on her bed. Kaiden moved to the foot of her bed, carefully taking off her shoes, then moved to the head of her bed placing the vials on the table, kissing her softly on the lips.
"Goodnight Alex." He whispered softly.
"Goodnight Kaiden." She replied, just a soft. He was just about to exit the room to call the others, explaining the situation, when he heard Alex call his name.
"Stay…please." She pleaded, moving over to the edge of wall side of the bed. Kaiden turned around, deciding to call the others in the morning, before laying down beside her. She nestled into his side, before falling asleep…
So this is the first chapter of my first story! I've been wanting to write a fanfic for a long time, but I never really had the motivation. I finally got into it so this is what I have. As stated at the start, it is advised to read A Very Medoran Kaldoras before you read this so it makes sense. But that's only if you want!
