Chapter 1

Wei was rightfully pissed, this Jin-Somebody was not only accusing him of such backhanded tricks, but also destroyed his gift he had made for his nephew. The gift he had spent sleepless nights on to make sure it was absolutely perfect was now reduced to dust in the blink of an eye. It made him even angrier that his sister's husband was not understanding or believing the fact that he would be killed the moment he stopped Wen Ning, an irrational part of him believed that Jin Zixuan was actually plotting the demonic cultivators death with his cousin. That this whole thing was one big ruse to draw him out, make him vulnerable, and put an end to his so called "reign of terror."

Wei brought his dizi to his lips and began playing, looking past Zixuan to stare at Zixun with hatred. He smirked as he manipulated Wen Ning to attack the obnoxious Jin cultivator. However, his smirk quickly turned into a look of panic when he noticed that The Ghost General was not planning to attack Zixun, but Zixuan. The Demonic Cultivator rushed forward and pushed his sister's husband out of the way just in time. Luckily, because of the angle in which the Ghost General's blow landed, Wei was not fatally harmed. Unluckily, the blow was strong enough to push him back into the rock that had previously protected him from the thousands of arrows that rained down on him earlier, effectively knocking him out cold.

Zixun stared in shock as his cousin was tossed aside. He rushed over to kneel down in front of the man and sighed in relief once he assessed that Zixuan was merely passed out and relatively uninjured otherwise. The hot headed Jin cultivator's gaze turned icy once more as he turned to the Ghost General and Yiling Patriarch, smirking when he noticed that Wei was also knocked out. "Now is our chance. Shoot him!" He called to the archers at the top of the cliff.

When no attack came, Zixun shifted his gaze to look at the cliff in confusion, which quickly morphed into anger once he realized that the fierce corpse had managed to incapacitate every archer. "I'll do it myself then." He growled as he unsheathed his sword.

He had only taken a step forward when the sound of a flute began to fill the path and Wen Ning began to advance toward him. Zixun backed up, practically shaking in fear as he held his sword up toward the Ghost General with an equally shaky hand. "Stay back! I will run you through right now if you come closer!" He yelled out, continuing to walk backwards as Wen Ning advanced. He barely had time to react once the Ghost General suddenly rushed forward, a quick jab to the back of the neck had him collapsing to the ground unconscious.

Su she glanced around as he walked out from his place hidden behind a boulder, making sure there was no one conscious to see him. He walked over to Wei and checked to see if he was alive, smirking once he felt a breath. He brought his own dizi to his lips and commanded Wen Ning to pick up the injured man, before he grabbed the Ghost General's arm and used a talisman to teleport to the woods outside of Carp Tower. Su she pulled out another talisman meant to summon Guangyao and sent it off, staying on guard as he waited for the man to arrive.

He did not have to wait very long, only a few minutes after he had sent the talisman off did the man show himself. Running toward him with a look of both annoyance and worry. Guangyao raised an eyebrow as he took in the sight of Wen Ning cradling the Yiling Patriarch himself. "What happened to the plan?" He asked, gazing at the two warily.

Su She bowed. "Wei Wuxian noticed Ghost General moving to attack Jin Zixuan and took the blow instead. I managed to knock out both the Jin's and the other cultivators-"

"Why didn't you take the opportunity to kill them?" Guangyao interrupted.

Su She looked conflicted. "The plan had gone astray. I was concerned that if Wei Wuxian died, we would never be able to find the amulet. I acted rashly in order to make sure the Yiling Patriarch lived."

Guangyao nodded. "You did the right thing, we could always kill the Jin heirs another day but if Wuxian were to die, we may not be able to get the stygian tiger amulet for ourselves. Come, let's take them somewhere more secure."

Guangyao led them to an abandoned part of the Jin dungeons. "They don't guard this area anymore as it is never used. It will be the perfect place to keep them." He explained as he opened the door to a cell. Zixun guided Ghost General inside and, after Guangyao's order, told him to lay Wei down on the bed.

The Jin disciple checked on Wei's condition before beginning to search him for the amulet, his smile widened as he saw a pouch glowing with resentful energy. He reached for the pouch, but the moment he touched it, an array of tormented screams filled his mind and he quickly snatched his hand back. "I can't touch it, the resentful energy is too powerful." Guangyao hissed enraged.

Su She tried as well, meeting the same fate, yanking his hand away the moment it touched the pouch and clutching his head. "What will we do now?" He asked.

Guangyao narrowed his eyes into a glare. "We wait for him to wake and make him tell us how to wield it." He said as he moved to leave. "Make sure they are both tied securely, we don't want them escaping. Not now that we are so close."
