About this fic: This will be a Slytherin, powerful but not god-like Harry fic. Harry will be more considering towards the dark side but does not condone their methods. Pairing will take place at around 3rd or 4th year. I'm leaning towards Daphne as pairing for Harry and there will be strictly no Harem nor slash. There will be Dumbledore, selective Weasley and maybe Hermione bashing. Rated M for eventual lime scenes(not too explicit though), violence, language and abuse.

I'm fairly new to the art of writing so please report any mistakes or improper content in my fic through PM or reviews. I hope nobody will mind my amateurish writings as I am trying to improve. Thank you.

Disclaimer: I sadly do not own Harry Potter.

Prologue

"Jessie! Where are you?" A panicked voice called out, followed by the sound of two pairs of hurried footsteps. The voice belonged to a middle aged woman in her thirties who had straight auburn hair and pale skin. She wore an alarmed expression while frantically looking around in an abandoned street. The street was situated adjacent to the unfrequented part of Knockturn Alley. She was followed closely by her husband who was calmer yet his eyes gave away his feeling of trepidation.

The couple were hurriedly searching around the street with cracked, worn out asphalt roads filled with overgrown bushes. Tall trees that covered most of the sky cast eerie shadows from the pale full moon light. Through the cover of trees, the pointy roofs of broken down manors that were abandoned or destroyed during the first war were visible.

"Jessie darling where did you run off to?" Jessica was a six year old girl who was asked to stick close her mum and dad while they had some business to attend to in a shop situated at Knockturn Alley. Jessica, being an adventurous young girl, wandered off towards the creepier part of the alleywhile her parents were occupied. By the time Jessica's parents noticed the absence of their daughter, the sun was already setting in the horizon and their daughter was long gone.

The sudden howl of a wild animal deep into woods caused the woman to jump. The biting cold winter wind made the couple shiver and tighten their cloak around their arms. There was a low rustling sound of leaves against the rough pavement and the trees swayed in the wind. Terrible thoughts concerning their daughter's safety were starting to penetrate the couple's minds and they were beginning to panic.

Jessica's father pulled out a thirteen inch dark brown coloured piece of wood that looked polished which was unmistakably his wand. They finally turned a corner and reached a dead end.

At the end of road was probably one of the largest and most ancient looking manor that the couple would have laid their eyes on in their entire life. The manor was situated at the centre of a large plot of land and was completely surrounded by tall trees and shrubs except the porch that led to large set of double doors that could fit a small giant. The door was crafted with an ancient unidentifiable wood. It looked extremely thick and heavy and was bolted shut. A tall iron fence ran around the border of the manor's grounds and had an eerie set of gates with sharp spear-like grilles and barb wire. If one looked closely at the gate, they would notice a strange symbol on it which looked like a triangle with a circle and a line cutting across it embedded in it.

The manor itself looked like it was thousands of years old with broken windows and walls with uncountable number of cracks and peeling paint. The roof looked like it was collapsed in. The architecture of the manor looked ancient and added to the creepy look of the manor.

Standing before the large frightening gates was small girl with short glossy hair that reflected the low moonlight. She stood shivering from head to toes yet she didn't seem to mind. Her eyes were wide and unblinking as she stared at the massive broken down manor through the gaps of the gate in awe.

The couple's heart skipped a beat when they saw the small figure in front of the manor. When they realised it was their daughter, they breathed a sigh of relief and rushed towards her.

"Jessica Anderson! How many times have I told you not to wander on your own? Do you know worried your father and I were?" If the girl heard her mother, she showed no indication of doing so.

"Jess?" Her father called out tentatively. "Jess, are you alright? Come on, look at yourself, you are freezing!" He said while slowly closing the distance between him and his daughter. "Jess?"

The girl in question showed no sign of hearing her father and slowly raised her small hand with outstretched fingers while her eyes were still focussed on the dilapidated manor in front of her. She made to grab the handle of the gates which had sharp pieces of iron sticking out at odd angles, when her parent cried out to her.

"JESSIE! NO! Don't touch the gates! It looks dangerous." Her mother cried out to her and made to pull her away but she was too late. What followed was probably the most horrific scene that Jessica's parent would've witnessed since the last war.

Jessica grabbed the handle of the gates and was instantly thrown back right into her mother's wide spread arms with a blood-curdling scream as though she was hit by a knockback jinx.

"JESS!" Her father shouted and ran towards her daughter who was screaming with tears pouring down her eyes. He looked at her hands expecting to see scratches from the sharp edges of the handle but was shocked when her arms were blistered as though they were burned in Fiendfyre. The skin seemed to be peeling off slowly. Her parents were panicking and trying every possible healing spells to heal the blisters but none seemed to work. Jessica's screams were getting worse and her parents were starting to lose hope. The burns seemed to be spreading.

Then Jessica's screams suddenly stopped and the night was filled with silence again. Her parents feared the worst but thankfully they down at her hands to find that the blisters and injuries suddenly disappeared and Jessica, besides looking a bit traumatised, looked completely unhurt and devoid of pain.

The couple, in their moment of distress and increasing relief, failed to notice a pale humanoid, incorporeal figure that stood behind the massive gates which slowly dropped its hand which was pointing at Jessica.

A/N: I know this prologue wasn't much and probably boring but I assure you, it gets better. Harry will appear in the 1st chapter don't worry. It will begin from his life at the Dursleys and will go progressively through his years at Hogwarts. This will not be a master of death story sorry. I have yet to decide if it will be a Heir of Slytherin type fic but even if it is, that will not be the main focus because I have other plans for the story. Keep in touch and find out.
