A dragon was held down on his knees. He couldn't stand up even if he tried. The dragon furiously gazed at the four dragons who forced him into this predicament. He was chained up, arms on his back, forcing his wings to remain closed.

The dragon gazed at the side with his amber eyes, he could see a portal that would bring any dragons to another section of the Dragon Realm. What he could see inside was a field with a bit of grass, but life seemed to be difficult at the other side.

"Malefor. You know why you've been brought here right?"

"You are stopping me from claiming what was rightfully mine," he grunted at the four dragons.

"None of those are meant to be owed by anyone," the tallest dragon approached Malefor. He put his claw on the snout of the other dragon and forced to look into his eyes, "Those are forbidden to be use or even touched by anyone from any realms."

The chained dragon snickered, "As I said, they are rightfully mine."

The other dragon sighed and looked at the others, "Even the threat isn't bringing any sense to him. We have no choice," he grabbed something offered by another dragon. He held up a silver collar. The light coming out of it made the prisoner nervous, "Since you won't even try to change, you are condemned to exile. This collar will prevent you from ever leaving the realm you are condemned to live from now on. Your wings won't free you from this realm."

The collar came closer to Malefor who struggled. Two dragons grabbed him by the shoulder and immobilised him. He tried to escape, but the collar was put around his neck. He wanted to get rid of it, but couldn't reach it, "Damn you!" he cursed the four dragons.

"It's time for you to leave this realm Malefor," the dragon said with resignation in his voice.

"You cannot stand in the way of my destiny! I have the right on the artifacts of old!" the chained one declared before he was freed of his chain. Before he could do anything, he was pushed in the portal, where he could never come back. He resister a little more, using his legs to prevent him to go through it, "This is not my destiny! You cannot stop me!" he painfully grunted when he was hit in the kidney. He passed through the portal, his last words still echoing.

The last thing Malefor heard was, "You will never come back. You can only decay. You brought this upon yourself."

Prologue: The Forbidden Realm

A young dragon was traveling in the Artisan Homeworld. He was a purple dragon with orange underbelly, a pair of orange horns, a small pair or orange wings and a purple tail that ended with a pointy orange spike.

His companion that followed him was a golden dragonfly with two bubbly eyes and pale pink wings.

The dragon was quickly running away from something.

"Spyro! Come back here right now! When I catch you, you will regret your little prank!" someone yelled.

"Looks like I overdone it with Nestor," the purple dragon nervously chuckled, using his quadruped to his advantage and accelerated.

Sparx made a few squeaking sounds as it agreed a little too much about a prank going too far.

"Come on. I didn't know it would burn that much," Spyro grumbled.

He continued for a while.

"Stop running Spyro!" the voice of Nestor resonated in the Artisan Home, "Get him!" The other dragons tried to catch Spyro, but he went around the bipedal dragons.

The purple dragon let out a large smirk as he turned his head towards them and let out his tongue, "Better luck next time!" he turned the corner to a location he wasn't going often. He chuckled as he managed to get away, "Looks like I'm out of-" he tripped on a rock, "Damn-" he said before eating some dirk and rolling on the ground, out of control.

He couldn't see where he was going and yelped, slowly panicking. He tried to regain control, but he was only a purple ball right now.

Little did he knew, he approached a portal, but not any ordinary portal. Once that had been forbidden to cross no matter what. There was a large barrier with a large message saying: Do not enter no matter what.

With another one under written: Do not even think about of it Spyro!

Being a young and small dragon, he passed under the cracks of the barrier by terrible bad luck.

The moment he stopped rolling, he laid down on his back, eyes spinning, "Iiiiii-" he gagged a little, but kept everything in. He turned back on his legs and coughed a little, "D-damn," he closed his eyes, "Stupid rocks. I should have listened to Lindar," he shook his head and managed to recover.

His companion flew in front of him and flew left and right, panicking.

"What is it?" he looked around and realised that he wasn't in the Artisan realm anymore. Not only that, but I wasn't any he ever visited.

It was a plain with a small grass field. They were a few trees, but they were pretty small and seemed a little sickly. The dragon couldn't guess what made them sick. He gulped when he asked the dragonfly, "Are we… in the place Nestor forbidden me to enter, no matter what?"

He got a positive nod.

"The one where he added the board, 'Do not even think about it Spyro' before saying that I would be greatly punished if I tried to go there."

He once again got a positive answer.

"I'm in really big trouble," he said.

That was the one rule he never intended to break. He already tried it once and the punishment was everything, but pleasant. It was pure torture.

He had to take a lecture from Astor about not breaking that rule. It was so long and boring. He had to wait for the dragon to wake up when he felt asleep. Nestor was there and made sure that he got the entire lecture. It was traumatic for the young dragon.

"I got too many dads," he grumbled before taking a step towards the portal, "Got to get back before I end up in trouble," he hoped he could return and act like he never broke that rule.

"What trouble?" a voice asked behind him.

Spyro quickly turned around and faced whatever said that. He stopped when he was taken aback. What was in front of him was a bipedal dragon he never met before.

It was a tall dark purple dragon with dark gray underbelly and large wings. His long purple tail tapped on the ground. His amber eyes looked into Spyros own eyes, but the new dragon was shining darkly. His many horns on his head made him looked more intimidating and dangerous than most dragons. He wore black bracelets, black loincloth a black metallic necklace and a brown cape. What stood up the more was the silver collar on his neck, that lightly shined.

The young purple dragon wasn't sure what to say. He gazed at his companion and back at the ominous dragon, who seemed to be observing the young dragon, judging him. There was something coming out of the dragon that made him want to turn away and run to the exit. Still, he was a very curious dragon, "Who are you? I never saw you before."

The dark purple gazed at the sky for a few seconds, deeply thinking. He crossed his arms and tapped on his arms. His eyes returned to the little dragon. His eyes shined a little less and a small smile was on his face. The ominous aura was now gone, "Malefor. And you are?"

"Spyro. And this is Sparx," he replied. He looked around and finally realised that the dragonfly was behind his head, "Come on. There is no need to be scared."

"I will not eat you," the tall dragon replied.

That didn't reassure Sparx.

"What are you doing here? This is a forbidden place to go Malefor," Spyro commented.

"That is a very long, but interesting story," Malefor turned around and said, "Come. It might be better if I tell you elsewhere."

"Okay! Sounds like a cool story," he followed the other dragon while the dragonfly wasn't certain about it. He made a few sounds and pointed him to the portal.

"Come on. It will buy me some time. I'm sure Nestor is searching me in the other portals for nothing. He won't be mad later," he dismissed the warning.

His companion didn't like this at all. He found Spyro to be a little too curious about the mysterious dragon who ended up in a place forbidden to go. Still, he followed the purple dragon.
