"You're an ugly bastard, aren't you?"

Underneath Starling City, ankle-deep in revolting sewage, Uzumaki Naruto didn't smile at his quip like he usually did when he made one.

In front of him stood, not the weirdest thing he had ever seen, but it was definitely in the top ten.

Razor-sharp teeth flashed as the strange beast growled at him. "For Darkseid!"

Naruto felt the intent behind the words and his left eye changed a split second before the strange creature exploded turning the sewer into a giant oven that only a few on earth could stand to be in.

And I'm not one of them, Naruto thought as he waited for the flames to die down. He was a lot of things, but fireproof wasn't one of them.

He didn't have to wait long. With nothing but water and stone to keep the fire burning, the flames from the creature's suicide attack died down almost immediately. Bits of trash in the sewer water at Naruto's feet still burned, circling him like floating candles. He stepped around the small flickering flames, walking to ground zero of the blast.

"That thing went through a lot of trouble to make sure I didn't get close to you," he said to the box stuck to the wall as he rolled the right sleeve of his black shirt up.

On his forearm, a maze of intricate ink drawings stretched from his wrist to his elbow. He bit his thumb, his blood tasting metallic on his tongue, and smeared his bloody digit across his arm. Gray smoke covered his arm, shielding it from view as a metal weapon popped out of his forearm.

Catching the knife in his hand, Naruto stabbed the sewer wall, pushing on the knife until its hilt touched the stone. Like he was cutting a slice of cake he carved out a neat square around the box the creature had planted.

No telling what this thing does, he thought as he sealed his kunai away. Grabbing the wall he pulled out the chunk he had cut free, keeping his fingers clear of the box. The only things he knew about it was that it was obviously not made by humans and that it was important to someone if the creature was willing to die to protect it.

And the only alien on earth that he could get to at the moment was in Metropolis. Hundreds of miles away from Starling City. Naruto frowned, focusing on the tag he had left in Superman's city when he visited a few months back for work.

In a yellow flash, he was out of the sewer and standing on top of an apartment complex looking up at a star-filled night sky. He didn't know if it was luck or fate, but a green ball whizzed past overhead, followed closely by the man he was looking for. He jumped to the roof of the closest building following after the man of steel as the hero soared through the air.

And here I thought I'd have to commit a crime to get a meeting, Naruto joked to himself as he chased after Superman and the green ball. Again, luck was on his side as Superman struck the ball shattering it into tiny green pieces. From inside the ball, two figures fell out of the sky.

One landed on the roof of a car, caving the weak metal in as it flipped gracefully into the street. The other twirled in the air before righting himself and charging back at Superman.

He must be another alien. Naruto decided as he stared at the flying man who was glowing green.

"This guy is gonna kill us," Green-man said.

"No, he won't."

Turning his attention to the acrobat, Naruto's eyes went wide as he got a good look at the bat-like getup. No way. Batman is real!

"You bruise but you don't kill," The Batman said, raising his hand as the strongest man on earth charged at him. "Do you, Clark?"

Superman's eyes widened and he stopped in his tracks.

Naruto felt his eyebrows rise at the sudden movement. He hadn't known what to expect from a fight between Superman and the mythical Gotham City Batman, but this wasn't it.

"You've made your point, heh..." Superman smirked. "Bruce Wayne."

"Who the hell is Bruce Wayne?" Green-man asked.

So, Gotham's bat is none other than a billionaire playboy, Naruto shook his head. He wanted to say it should have been obvious to anyone and that he himself should have seen it, but that would be a lie.

Hell, he hadn't even known the Batman was real until tonight. He believed what he saw and nobody had ever caught Gotham's legendary Dark Knight on camera, something that made it entirely too easy for the media to pin the blame on him for the kidnappings in Gotham.

"We think it's alien," Bruce said holding the box up for Superman to see.

"Well, it's not Kryptonian."

Damn. Naruto looked at his own box. There went the easy answer. And that meant being sneaky wasn't useful any longer. Taking the shortcut to ground level, he landed in a crouch gaining the attention of the two aliens and Batman.

"Whoa, calm down!" he exclaimed as Green-man's fist started to glow like a miniature sun. "If you guys fought a weird winged creature for that box you have we're all on the same side."

He held up his own alien box.

"Where?" Batman asked, well, really it was a demand but Naruto wasn't going to make a fuss about it.

"Starling City." He answered. "Followed the thing into the sewer after I stopped it from flying off with a waitress. Son of a bitch blew itself up when I got too close."

"For Darkseid?" Batman asked/demanded.

Naruto nodded.

"Hey, hey, what happened?" Green-man asked. "Are we done fighting?"

"Alien is relative, by the way." Superman was talking to Batman again. "It's a big universe."

Before Naruto could tell everyone to get back on track, three searchlights landed on their little group lighting up the entire street. Squinting his eyes, he looked up and wasn't shocked to see military helicopters circling them. Superman and the others had been causing a ruckus after all. Further back he could see another helicopter coming towards them. Brightly colored with a large number 9 printed on the side.

Batman must have seen it too because he crouched down, tossing the manhole cover at his feet across the street.

"Let's move."

Holding the alien box tight, Naruto jumped down into the sewers for a second time that night, followed by Superman and Green-man.

"Man, what is it with you and sewers?" Green-man asked.

Naruto was going to answer, tell the brightly lit man that sewers were faster than taking the streets and kept their location hidden from anyone above ground but he didn't as he was preoccupied. He wasn't usually a jealous person having grown past that stage in his teens. But at the moment he could have smacked the Batman.

Lucky bastard. He thought staring at the armor Batman was wearing. If he had armor like that his shoes wouldn't be soggy and his feet wouldn't be wet with disgusting water.

"I gotcha." Green-man laughed.

Naruto tensed as his feet were pulled out of the water. Looking down his eyes darted to Green-man who winked at him.

"Green Lantern, if you're wondering who to thank."

"Thanks," Naruto said, looking back down at the green piece of a train track he was being carried on.

"Gotham, Metropolis, Starling," Batman said not looking back. "Someone is strategically placing these boxes. We have to find out who and why before it's too late."

"Follow me." Superman stopped flying forward.

Turning around, Naruto shielded his eyes as Superman used his heat vision to cut a hole in the ceiling of the sewer.

Crap, that's hot. There was good three feet between him and the Kryptonian and he could still feel the tip of the hairs on his arm singeing from the heat.

"This way." Superman flew up, going straight through the floor as the piece he cut lifted seamlessly from the rest.

Batman followed after him, firing a grappling hook through the hole. Naruto was dragged through as his ride trailed behind Green Lantern.

"Cozy." Lantern remarked.

Dropping to the ground as the green tracks beneath him vanished, Naruto looked around at the warehouse they had just broken into. It wasn't anything special, just a warehouse filled with machinery and metal barrels. He was sure there were a thousand others just like it in Metropolis.

"So why are you three here?" Superman asked as he returned the piece of flooring he had cut out back to its rightful place. "Metropolis is my turf."

"Turf?" Naruto scoffed the word. "That doesn't matter anymore."

Didn't Superman understand what it meant that three of the same boxes had been found in three different cities?

"There have been reports of mysterious kidnappings across the country," Batman interjected.

"We had them here too," Superman admitted sadly turning his eyes to the ground. "Figured that was life in the big city. You think the disappearances and these things are connected?"

Naruto regarded his alien box as Batman confirmed Superman's assumption.

"They're connected."

"So these monsters-"

"They're soldiers." Batman narrowed his eyes. "Expendable soldiers at that. Planting these devices at all costs, that's military tactics. We might be starring down the barrel of a full-scale invasion."

"Question is what part will these play in the invasion?" Naruto handed his alien box over to Green Lantern who expanded the ball holding the box from Gotham. "Bombs? EMP's? I'd bet my last dollar there are more of these in other cities in the country. Probably the world."

Maybe they should-

"It will take too long to search the earth," Batman said ending Naruto's train of thought before it began.

"You guys are paranoid." Green Lantern brandished his fist in the air. "Let's just crack it open and see what happens!"

Naruto's eyes grew as a giant green sledgehammer formed out of Green Lantern's ring. His hand shot out grabbing the idiot by the arm.

"Hey!"

"Without any idea what's inside..." Batman released the grip he had on Green Lanterns' wrist. "That's idiotic."

Naruto followed suit letting his own grip on Lanterns arm go slack as the hammer vanished back into the man's ring.

"Heh, I'll show you idiotic."

Before Green Lantern could make due on his promise to show them something idiotic, the alien boxes began to glow and beep.

Stepping back, Naruto glared Green Lantern who raised his hands.

"Aah, I didn't touch it."

Taking more steps back as the high pitched beeping increased, Naruto dove behind a stack of barrels as Green Lantern chucked the boxes across the warehouse shouting.

"It's gonna blow!"

And it did. Just not in the way any of them had expected.

A muffled explosion went off as the boxes shrank down until they completely vanished. Blinding white light took their place as two portals opened up in the air.

Standing up, Naruto stood alongside the others as they waited for whatever was on the other side to come through. On his temple, a small seal flashed letting chakra run into his eyes.

"It's those things again." he said as shadows appeared in the portals "The same ones who were planting the boxes. We need a pl-"

Green Lantern flew forward his ring glowing as he met the first creature who had come through the portal.

"Aah!"

Naruto didn't even wince as Lantern was knocked back. Looks like we were right about the invasion. he thought as he pulled up his sleeves and unsealed two kunai, flipping them into a reverse grip as dozens of flying creatures swarmed him.

Will mostly be a crossover between Naruto and the Justice Leauge Animated Movies. Being written in conjunction with a Young Justice crossover that will be a sequel. I don't think I will start posting that story until this one is completed.

To anyone waiting for an update on my other stories, I apologize for the long wait. I don't think I have to explain how crazy everything's been these past few months. But I'm back writing now so updates should begin again shortly.

Thank you for reading!
