Lost in thought in his cosy living room, sitting in front of the crackling fireplace, Harry was stroking his long dark beard. His green eyes were as clear as they had been in his younger days, and in time had taken on an expression of wisdom, his formerly pale face now tanned and adorned with both wrinkles and scars. Taking a puff of his pipe, he looked into the flames of the chimney before snorting how quickly time passes, one moment you are toppling a Dark Lord, the next you are a thousand year old man. Exhaling, he let the smoke form a ring that shone in all the colors of the rainbow, so much had changed in the years since his youth. The Magic Society had had its peace for several years, until the magic spells that kept the Muggles from discovering them malfunctioned. The subsequent Magical Discharge had destroyed all the electronic devices in the world, planes fell from the sky, Muggle machine guns stopped working. So did all vehicles such as cars and trains, in short, the world had fallen back into the Middle Ages. Cities were ravaged by dragons, Muggles were torn apart by werewolves, and the few Muggles who could handle swords and bows quickly took students under their wing to teach them this knowledge. Mages were hunted and executed for a time until there were only a few left.
Taking a deep draught from the pipe, Harry leaned back and tried to sink deeper into his chair, if he had not overlooked anyone in his search for sorcerers and magicians, he was the last, the last of an ancient culture. As he exhaled, he let his magic flow into the smoke, and watched the smoke take the form of a phoenix, floating majestically through the room, the wings of smoke making the bird circle around the living room before it slowly dissipated. Harry sighed how much he would have liked to leave the world of the living with his friends, but he had not been able to do so, not only because of the fact that he owned all three Deathly Hallows that made him the Master of Death.
No, the real reason why he survived his friends at such an age was because of his Animagus form, most Animagi adopted some of their Animagus forms in human form, some longer canines, a better sense of smell or, as with Professor McGonnegal, the ability to see in the dark. In his case he had taken over the longevity from his Animagus form, after all dragons lived forever unless they were killed, which is probably due to the fact that it was difficult to see in the dark as he knew only too well. Two hundred and fifty times r had already tried to take his own life, the first time by hanging himself, which didn't work out, shortly after he jumped from the roof of a skyscraper, which failed again, and once he even had himself cut into two pieces. Again without success, so he had stopped his attempts and devoted himself to more interesting subjects, the study of the hundred different magical disciplines, in many of them he had reached a level of mastery during his long life. In others, like soothsaying, he had failed miserably, but in his opinion, soothsaying was only for idiots, so he did not mourn for it.
Before he could get further lost in his thoughts, a loud knocking sounded, his head turned to his dark red door, and his eyes narrowed, no one should be able to find this building. So how could someone knock on his door before he could get up, a loud voice came from outside. "Mr Potter, I know you're in there. Please open up. My name is Jormungand, I have come to seek your help. If you wish, I can pay you." Harry snorted. He had seen many things and he didn't doubt that many things were possible, but he doubted that there was a huge queue at his front door. Nevertheless, he rose and crossed the living room at a rapid pace and opened his door, only to lay his head back and look up at the giant snake head. "Bloody hell!" As he fled as it seemed he was wrong, there was a huge snake at his door. "Ah Mr Potter, thank you for taking a few minutes of your time, if I might choose a more suitable form for our conversation." He nodded. "Go ahead, I won't keep you, by the way you like tea?" The snake gave an amused giggle, he said. "I'd love some green tea, if that's okay." Harry nodded and watched as the massive snake began to shrink, its body seemed to glow and after a few minutes a splinter of naked woman stood before him. Her Long Black Hair blew gently in the wind and her Golden Snake Eyes watched him for a moment. "Now that I've heard some tea," he nodded stammeringly and let her enter. "I'll get you a blanket in a moment. It will only take a moment."
Twenty minutes later Harry was sitting at his dinner table, opposite him, wrapped in a huge blanket, sat Jormungand, smiling at him with her eyes and drinking a cup of tea next to him. "Well Mr Potter, I came to you in hope of help. I'll make this short and sweet, I come from a parallel dimension and I need your help to get back." Harry hardly noticed the trembling of his arm as he lifted his cup to his lips and drank it in one go, feeling as if he could throw everything he knew out the window. "I will, as far as I am able, ask you if you have any idea how to get back into your dimension." She suddenly smiled at him, beaming with joy. "Of course you may ask, Mr Potter, the answer is relatively simple. We combine our forces to create a rift between dimensions. Then I'll hop over, you can come along if you like, it's pretty boring here after all."
Harry took another sip and breathed deeply a few times, counting down from a thousand, and the simplicity with which his interlocutor talked about making a rift in the fabric of the universe made him feel uncomfortable. Today he had planned to sit in front of his fireplace and think about the good old times. Damn it! "And how exactly do you imagine we should combine our powers, since you seem to have something ahead of me, and on another subject, what makes you think it's boring here? There are plenty of things to do." That made Jormungand snort pejoratively before waving her left hand in the air. "So please, we both know the world is a pile of crap, no really, don't look at me like that, on this earth your skills are wasted. Just think about what else is waiting for you in the universe, you can't tell me you'd rather sit in your living room and twiddle your thumbs, you're just not the type. And we both know that all too well and to your other question, we form a magical connection between us and the rest you can leave to me.
Harry could feel his right eyebrow going up, she made it all sound so easy, and when he thought about it, the universe was vast and varied and certainly there were some things he could learn. If not, at least he'd had a nice trip. "Another cup of tea?" he asked, and almost got her empty cup under his nose. "But of course, you must enjoy good company." Harry nodded approvingly. Good company is rare these days, he got even less good company because he shut himself off from everyone. "So I have to ask, could something go wrong with the shifting between dimensions, or is there something I need to be aware of?" His question had made Jormungand blink in surprise. "Now that you are not a god, it could be that the change puts you under extreme physical and mental strain, or in the worst case the forces that are released could tear you apart. But I'm sure we could find a way around it, if we sit down together we'll figure something out. Perhaps a suit of armor or a vehicle that we could fortify with runes, hmm, you have any ideas, Harry?"
He thought for a moment about getting angry that she hadn't mentioned the dangers and decided not to get angry about it, he wasn't 16 anymore. So he focused on finding a solution to the problem, maybe a sleigh, but he didn't want to be mistaken for Santa Claus either, but then another idea came to his mind. "Could we put the runes and protection spells on a ship that I could ride through without being torn into pieces, how did you put it so nicely?" She frowned for a moment before nodding quickly. "That would certainly be possible, do you have a ship?" Harry shook his head. "No, I don't, but perhaps we could get one." This statement made Jormungand snort disparagingly. "Pha, we'll build a ship, a ship faster than any other ship, a ship that all people will envy you for. But before that I would like some more tea."
Harry poured it, what else could he do, his world already seemed to him like it had been turned upside down anyway.
