This is a one-shot broken up into two parts! Please enjoy & review! ~TRP~)

Pointillism-

It was their first wedding anniversary in two months. Usagi had no idea what to do, or what kind of gift to give Makoto.

She knew all the things Makoto liked: from flowers to hobbies, to her favorite aspect of being a Senshi.

Usagi had found the various pictures she wanted to use. She thought about making a simple collage. But that wouldn't be...special enough.

Usagi found herself surprisingly apt at computer graphics, cropping, merging, and taking various photos and turning them into one large one.

Taking a bunch of the pictures she had, Usagi created a large photo: one colored the way she wanted it, and the second a bolded line drawing on thick poster board

Usagi wasn't good at painting, and thought about asking Michiru to make something. But it was really important for Usagi to be the one doing this. No one else.

Usagi hid the art well, and consulted Michiru about how best to make it her own.

Michiru suggested pointillism. Usagi vaguely remembered this in art class: taking a small point, or end of another tool, dipping it into paint or ink, and filling the drawing or traced outline in with color to create an image.

After asking about color blending, and what paints or colors would be best, Usagi got to work. She had mentioned she originally wanted to use canvas, but that would take too long to dry, and needed to be laid out. That wouldn't work, because Usagi knew she would not be able to hide it from Makoto.

Fortunately, Michiru had offered to keep it in her studio, letting Usagi come over whenever she wanted to in order to complete it.

The background was a blend of black, midnight blue, various greens, eventually forming into a light, almost pastel mint green-white mixture at its center. She had carefully outlined with special tape where to do strictly one color, and where the tape streaks remained after pulling off the tape, that is where she would use her blended mixture.

Usagi sat back and smiled. The lightning was done. And Usagi still had a month to go.

If nothing else, this would teach, and increase her patience.

Next, Usagi wanted to work on Makoto herself. Posed in a classic stance of both battle and of protection, Usagi had half of Makoto as Sailor Jupiter, and the other half as herself. She started to paint the Sailor Jupiter half first. That was the easier half. The other half, with Makoto dressed in a medium purple short-sleeved blouse and black shorts.

Next, Usagi carefully worked on the small, almost invisible black apron around half of Makoto's waist. It blended perfectly with her shorts, and if one looked carefully, they could see the slight sinch of the tied and blended purple drawstrings. By her feet, assuming she had prepared for battle was a small plate of gyoza.

As the last piece for this week, Usagi worked on Makoto's hair. Deep, rich brown, along with lighter shades to encompass the lighting's reflection were painted. Usagi then blended a red-brown color, similar to cherry wood or mahogany to add as gentle red highlights to her hair.

Returning the next week, with two weeks to go, Usagi first worked on Makoto's complexion. It was similar to hers. She asked Michiru for advice on shadowing, and continued blending. Everything was really coming together.

Within the final week, Usagi worked on Makoto's rose earrings, and the Camellia clip that adorned the civilian side of Makoto's hair. Gently blending red and pinks, and oranges and yellows for the center. This would be the second of three aspects of this painting that was done beyond meticulous. In her head, Usagi had to get it perfect. The third one was the lighting that had already been completed.

Finally on Thursday, with their anniversary on Saturday, Usagi worked on the only thing she had left. Makoto's eyes; easily her favorite part. She wanted her eyes to stand out. Makoto's eyes had been a bit shadowed due to her bangs. Perfect. The brown and red in her hair, the purple in her shirt, and the pink in her Senshi uniform would really help bring them out.

She started with a dark green, similar to what she used in the background; almost using the same color pattern she had used with the lighting, dark to light. But she added a dash or two of lush green coloring; that one would find in fields or forests.

Usagi had also a print out of Makoto's eyes, exactly how she wanted them to look.

Sitting back she was finally finished.

'Don't forget, every artist has a signature…' Came Michiru's words yesterday as Usagi had left for that day.

"Hm…" Usagi mused to herself. She simply signed her name: Kino, Usagi. She made the dot in the 'i' of her last name a heart, and the dot of the 'i' in her first name a crescent moon. She also had colored a golden and green crescent moon around her name.

Makoto was working late tonight, and they would miss each other.

The next day, Makoto ended up leaving for work before Usagi even woke up.

Usagi had been aware of the growing tension between them over the last two months. Usagi wasn't spending much time at home, but oddly it was Makoto's who's fears got the better of her, even though Makoto knew she had nothing to worry about. Usagi had been able to assuage Makoto's confused, almost cautionary glances and the concern in her voice.

Usagi felt terrible for any kind of doubt she had caused Makoto. Especially since they were together for years before both becoming engaged and married. What she felt even worse over was the fact that as of late, (the last two months) it was now becoming harder, and took longer to convince Makoto there was nothing to worry about.

Perhaps Usagi should have told Makoto she was working on something special for her sooner, rather than not at all.

Usagi had made one last minute run to check that the painting was dry, and was able to bring it home to surprise Makoto with it later Saturday night.

Slipping in the doorway, closing it lightly, Usagi hid the painting in a closet that was hardly used.

She glanced at the clock. 7pm. Good. Usagi sighed. Makoto wouldn't be home for another hour.

Entering the kitchen, Usagi found herself humming as she made herself a cup of tea. It was chilly tonight, so Usagi went to her bedroom to grab one of Makoto's hoodies.

"Makoto! Wh-what are you doing here so early?" Usagi all but fell over at seeing Makoto in their bedroom, sitting in the middle of their bed with her legs criss-crossed, and her arms crossed over her chest. A single light of the overhead fan illuminated her.

"I want to know what's going on…" Makoto's voice was low.
