Chapter 5: Meeting

The next morning, Grillby was up early to get to the restaurant, leaving a note for Emma for when she woke up, giving her a kiss on the cheek as she slept. "I'll see you later, Emma," he said softly before checking on Lilly, finding her asleep too. He gently kissed her forehead. "Daddy loves you, my little candle. I'll see you later."

Lilly snuggled deeper into her covers as Grillby headed out, going to make sure the restaurant was in order and ready to open. At eight o'clock sharp, he opened the doors and five minutes later, customers began pouring in for breakfast orders.

At the same time, Emma stirred from her slumber and smiled, getting up and quickly getting dressed for work before going to wake Lilly, who sat up just as her mother came in. "Morning, Mommy," the little girl said.

"Good morning, sweetie," her mother said with a smile. "Ready to go see Daddy at work?"

The little girl jumped up and got ready quickly, grabbing her activity bag as it was a Friday and the schools were taking a holiday. She grabbed some homework she had and put it in her bag before going with her mother to the kitchen, where they ate breakfast before heading off to the restaurant.

Lilly skipped alongside her mother happily. "Mommy, do you think you and Daddy will get married sometime?" She asked.

"Perhaps, sweetie," Emma said with a smile. "Do you think Mommy and Daddy should be married?"

The little girl nodded. "Cause Daddy makes you happy, Mommy," she said. "And if a Mommy and a Daddy are happy, they should be married, right?"

The older woman had to chuckle. "Where did you hear that?" She asked.

"From a storybook at the library," the child said. "It's true, isn't it?"

"Well, for many, yes," her mother said. "And I do like Grillby very much."

Lilly grinned as she saw the restaurant and giggled, jumping up and down in excitement, making Emma smile as they entered the restaurant through the back. Grillby was waiting for them when they arrived and Lilly hugged her father happily and he returned the hug. "Your desk is all ready in my office, sweetie," he said.

"Okay, Daddy," she said, giving him a daughterly kiss on the cheek. "I love you, Daddy."

"I love you too, Lilly," he said, gently pinching her cheek in fatherly affection and watching her scamper off to her special desk in his office.

Emma smiled as she came up and kissed Grillby, who held her close and kissed her back. "Ah, that's just what I needed," he said with a smile.

"Me too," she admitted, smiling again. "Well, I best get on the paperwork."

"Come out in a few hours, my love. There's some friends I want you and Lilly to meet."

She nodded and headed to her office, getting on the bookwork and files right away, working and soon becoming lost in the world of numbers.

Grillby smiled as he watched for a moment before checking on Lilly and then going back to tend to his customers. His waitresses and cook had things under control, which helped immensely. The door then opened and he looked up to see Sans come in. "Ah, Sans, prompt as always," he said jokingly.

"I'd never miss a day, Grillbz," Sans said with a grin.

Frisk came in with Papyrus and Gaster behind her and behind them was Toriel and Asgore, along with Chara and Asriel. "Uncle Grillby!" The three children cried out, running up to him.

Chuckling, he caught them all in a hug as they hugged him happily. He then heard the door open and looked to see Undyne, Alphys, and Mettaton come in. "Looks like everyone is coming over," he said.

"But of course, Grillby," said Gaster with a smile to his old friend. "Word has it that you just might have found a lover. Is it true?"

The fire elemental blushed. "Actually, yes," he said, surprising them all. "I have and she has a little girl too."

"How wonderful!" Toriel said with a smile. "She must be quite a lady to make you blush like that."

Grillby chuckled. "She is," he said.

"How long, Grillbz?" Sans asked.

"A month," he said. "She and I are taking it slow, but...she makes me smile."

"We can tell," Papyrus said with a smile. "Can we meet her?"

"Does this mean we have a new aunt?" Frisk asked excitedly.

"Yes," the fire elemental said. "And yes. One moment."

With that, he turned to the doors and went through them, finding Emma coming out of the office with a smile. "Did you do the reports earlier?" She asked him knowingly.

"Maybe a little," he said with a smile. "Come. I want to introduce you to my friends. Where's Lilly?"

"Still in your office," Emma said.

Just then, the little girl came out and went up to them. "Daddy, can you help me practice my spelling?" She asked.

"Yes, little one," he said, picking her up. "For now, do you want to come meet some of Daddy's friends?"

Lilly looked a bit unsure. "Are they nice?" She asked.

"Yes," he said. "Two of them even have children who might be your cousins soon."

"What's a cousin?"

"The child of an aunt and uncle," he explained.

Lilly looked excited about that and Emma wrapped her left arm around his right arm. "Well, then. Let's go meet these friends," she said.

The gathered monsters and two human children smiled as the three came out of the back. Lilly, feeling shy, hid her face into her father's shoulder while Emma scooted a little behind Grillby, looking a bit unsure. He smiled. "It's okay," he soothed before looking at his friends. "Everyone, this is Emma and our daughter, Lilly," he said. "Emma. Lilly, these are my good friends and family."

He listed off their names and Emma smiled as she saw they were nice. "It's nice to meet you all," she said.

"Wow, Grillbz. You didn't say she was hot," Sans said with a grin.

"Sans! There are children here!" Papyrus scolded mildly.

Emma grinned. "That's right," she said, feeling cheeky. "Smoking hot."

The short skeleton laughed heartily at that. "Nice one," he said with a grin. "No wonder Grillby's been in such a lovey-dovey trance lately. You've been on his mind, no doubt."

Grillby blushed at that and Emma smiled. "I hope so," she said, looking up at Grillby, whose blush grew.

"My love," he said in amusement, knowing she was only playing along.

Lilly peeked out at them, curious, her face lighting up at seeing the other three children. Toriel noticed and smiled. "Children, do you want to go play with Lilly?" She asked.

They nodded and Lilly looked at her father, who nodded and set her down. Moments later, the four children were giggling and laughing, which made the others smile. "It's wonderful to meet all of you," Emma said to them.

"And it's a pleasure to meet you, darling," said Mettaton, coming up to her. "My goodness, if you weren't spoken for, I'd insist on taking you on a date."

The young woman giggled. "That's sweet, but I'm afraid stage lights don't set well with me," she said gently.

"No worries, darling," he said. "In fact, you just gave me a new idea for a show! I must get back to the studio!"

"Mettaton, wait!" Alphys cried out, running after him.

"Wait up!" Undyne cried out, running out too, making everyone else chuckle in amusement.

Emma looked up at Grillby and smiled. "I like your friends," she said. "They didn't even flinch at the fact that you're dating a human."

"They've accepted you," he said with a smile, kissing her, to which she kissed him back happily.

In the back of his mind, Grillby decided that he would see about officially adopting Lilly as his daughter and asking Emma to be his forever.

Looks like Emma and Lilly have been accepted. :)
