Chapter 5: Afterwards
The trio of boys were still walking, all talking about the amazing day they just had.
They just met the nicest, most beautiful, amazing girls that they have ever seen. Even better, they agreed to be their girlfriends and they got another date for tomorrow.
It was officially the greatest day in the Ed's life.
Today, they spent the entire day without being humiliated, ridiculed or disrespected by anyone and they got GIRLFRIENDS!
Pretty girlfriends who LIKED being around the Edd's, no strings attached.
It's awesome!
"I am never complaining about your bug hunts ever again..."Eddy said as he touches his cheek.
The cheek that Lee kissed.
The cheek that got kissed by a GIRL.
A BEAUTIFUL girl who'd never picked Kevin over him.
"Lee..."Eddy whispered in a lovesick, dopey way as he thought about the beautiful red haired girl.
His friends were in a similar boat as they thought about their own respective Kanker girls.
As they thought about those girls and recalled the little kisses they gave them, all three Ed boys were filled with the warm, fuzzy feelings.
It must be love.
They were so deep in it, they didn't even notice that they still had the kiss marks on their faces, they were too happy to care.
"I still cannot believe it...my first date..."Edd whispered in wonder.
"Got one without even trying, now that is macho..."Eddy said, feeling quite proud of himself.
Not even his big brother had gotten a girlfriend at this age, which Eddy can't wait to brag about...when he is bigger, stronger than him, just in case.
Ed smiled happily as he had the same lovesick, happy look on his face, just like his pals.
"Pretty girls kissed us, guys..." He reported
"We know Ed, were there..." Edd said, still sporting a lovesick look while Eddy had a goofy grin on his face that was not going away any time soon.
"Lee..."Eddy repeated away, still with that look on his face.
He always thought that he would wind up with Nazz but Lee...
She is tall, with curly hair that covers her eyes in a cute way, with adorable freckles and she has the hottest voice. She was ten times hotter than Nazz and unlike the pretty and SOMETIMES nice blonde, Lee wants to date him and maybe marry him one day.
Marry Lee?
The more he thought about it, the more he came around to the idea.
Eddy and Lee McGee. He likes the sound of that
Sure, it was too soon to book a church and get a ring, but still, it had a nice ring to it.
Eddy and Lee McGee. There was just something right about that, way more than Nazz McGee ever sounded.
Wait, what about Nazz?
Eh, let shovel chin have her, Lee is all the woman for him now, though Eddy wouldn't be surprised if the box head ended up marrying his bike first.
"Hey Dorks!..."An annoying voice called them.
They turned and saw that it was Kevin, who was on his cherished bike, looking at them like he is trying to pick a fight.
"Not him..."Eddy and Edd both thought, since they had been having a wonderful day for a change.
They did not want him to bug them, but Kevin still tried to bother them.
"Hello, Kevin..."Double D said to be polite, but the jock scoffed.
"What's wrong, losers? You weren't running one of your loser scams today?..."Kevin demanded, unwilling to admit that he felt nervous with the lack of Ed's today.
The other kids had just enjoyed the peace and quiet, but Kevin had some paranoia that the Ed's had been planning something big, while his friends did not care since to them, "out of sight, out of mind".
Kevin did not believe it and now that he had found these bozo's, he was going to mess with them like they messed with him...even if the Ed's really DIDN'T do anything to him today.
As far as he was concerned, they deserve everything he does to them.
The box headed jock saw the kiss marks on them and laughed, practically falling to the ground as he guffawed.
"What's so funny?!..."Eddy demanded, annoyed.
Kevin pointed at them.
"Oh man, look at you losers!..." Kevin laughed.
Ed did as he said, staring at his hands and then at his friends.
"We look the same to me..." Ed said, not really getting it but Edd blushed as he realized what Kevin is laughing at.
"He means our faces, Ed..." Edd said deadpan, already getting where Kevin was going.
He blushed as he realized that what was ON their faces.
Kevin wasn't done mocking them, though.
"Let me guess, your grandma kissed ya..."Kevin mocked before laughing again.
Eddy narrowed his eyes at that.
"You wish..." Eddy snarked.
Eddy saw this as his chance to one up that jerk on a bike and gloat. The short Ed boy then got up close and personal to Kevin, proudly pointing to the kiss marks on his face.
"Feast your eyes on this testament of manliness, shovel chin..."Eddy said in a gloating way.
"What are you talking about, Dorky?..."Kevin said with an eye roll.
"It should be obvious!..."
"It isn't…"
"This is from my new girlfriend..."Eddy said, gloating for all it's worth.
"Girlfriend?..."Kevin said before he laughed.
Eddy frowned.
"Why is that funny?!..."
"Who'd go out with you dorks?..."Kevin said, not believing them.
"Just a bunch of dames who are too good for you..."Eddy said.
"I know Eddy's track record is not the best Kevin, but it's true..." Edd interjected
"Uh huh, we got girlfriends..." Ed said simply.
Edd wouldn't stop.
"My girl is named Lee and she is a total babe who is all mine. Mono-brow and Sock-Head are going out with her sisters May and Marie..."Eddy said.
Kevin still did not believe them
"I doubt they even exist..."Kevin said in a mean way.
Eddy heard this and got mad. Sure, he has been pretty dishonest in the past, but he wasn't lying about Lee, the best thing that has ever happened to him.
And he wanted everyone to know that.
"They do too...I got a date with Lee tomorrow.."Eddy said.
"Yes, and Marie and I are going to be going out as well..."Edd said.
"May and me, 1-2-3..."Ed said in a dumb way.
Both Eds wanted to correct him, but figured it was sort of true, there were three couples.
"Really? Then, I guess you wouldn't mind introducing her to me..."Kevin challenged.
"Fine, tomorrow at noon..."Eddy said, before he got an idea.
"Why don't we make it interesting?..." Eddy suggested and Kevin smirked.
"Alright, how about this: if your "girlfriends" don't show up tomorrow, you have to run through the Cul-De-Sac in your underwear..."Kevin dared sadistically.
Edd heard this and gasped in horror.
"No, I refuse!..."Edd said, sounding mortified while Ed laughed.
"That sounds funny..."Ed snickered.
Unfortunately, Eddy's impulsiveness got in the way, like always.
"Deal, and when you do see my girlfriend you have to give me a dollar..."Eddy said, not missing the chance to make a quick buck.
"A dollar, huh?..." Kevin said, pulling one out of his pocket.
"You mean like this one..."The jock said and the Ed's looked stunned at the sight of it, even Edd.
"Good heavens, man! That's twenty dollars!..." Edd shouted while Eddy and Ed were wide eyed.
Eddy smirked, he knew he could get jawbreakers for life with money like that.
This was a suckers bet and Edd knew it there was no way Eddy could resist the siren call of cold hard cash, especially with the incredibly rare golden opportunity to take it from Kevin in an honest way and strings attached.
Kevin still smirked maliciously as he continued with the terms of the bet.
"Here is how it goes, if you losers actually have girlfriends, I'll give you this bad boy..."Kevin said as he waved it in front of the shortest Ed boy.
"Deal!..."Eddy shouted as visions of dollar signs and jaw breakers filled his head
"I'll be waiting by my house at noon with my camera. Hope, you've got clean undies..."Kevin said, predicting that Eddy is lying and will make a fool of himself tomorrow.
Kevin rode off, barrelling Eddy into Ed, who caught him.
"Thanks, Lumpy..."Eddy said
"You're welcome, Eddy..." Ed said as he let him go and Eddy fell to the ground.
"Dorks..."He muttered as he rode off.
Eddy was mad again.
"Well, these dorks just got themselves girlfriends and soon to be twenty bucks..." Eddy retorted but Kevin paid him no mind as he was already out of sight.
"Bye Kevin..." Ed waved
Meanwhile, Eddy just grinned mischievously, thinking about the look on Kevin's face tomorrow when the Ed's bring the Kankers over.
It's gonna be sweet!
Edd however, had some concerns.
"Eddy, you know tomorrow Kevin is going to be furious when he loses that bill..."Edd said in worry but Eddy waved his hand.
"Oh relax, Sock-Head. It'll be fine..."Eddy said calmly but Edd is not so sure.
"But Eddy, what if Kevin tells his father of the lost funds?..."Edd said, worried at the idea of a parent being involved
"Then we tell the truth, that he lost a bet..."Eddy shrugged
Edd blinked, since that was a good point which is VERY rare for Eddy.
"But, what-..."He started but Eddy cut him off.
"Hey, I didn't do anything wrong! I jusr said I had a girlfriend. Besides, I would have been happy with a buck. You saw that it was Kevin who raised the stakes, I didn't do anything dishonest..."Eddy said.
Edd paused, realizing his point.
"That IS true..."The smart boy admitted, not used to having odds in their favor.
It is truly remarkable.
They got beautiful girlfriends and might actually WIN a bet with Kevin without having to do dishonest means.
It's strange to say the least.
Edd the glanced at his watch and finally noticed how late it is and panicked.
"Oh dear! Look at the time! Our parents must be worried sick!..."Edd said in a panic.
Eddy looked at the watch and nearly blanched.
"Oh man! Mom and dad are gonna flip..."Eddy said in a panic as he saw how late it is.
"Not good, mom will be mad and then she will tell dad and he will just sit there and watch TV!..."Ed said, realizing the predicament for a change.
The Ed's each ran to their respective homes to get there and hopefully avoid angry parents for being VERY late to dinner.
At Ed's House
Ed, being pretty empty headed, just walked into his house and the moment he did, a very LOUD, FAMILIAR voice tattled on him, courtesy of Ed's little baby sister, Sarah.
"See mom, I told you he was out late!..." Sarah tattled.
Ed jumped in shock, seeing Sarah and his mom appear and his mother looked mad, while Sarah was smiling in a mean way.
"Edwin Horace! Where were you?..."His mother said in a scolding way, using his middle name, which she only does when he is REALLY in trouble.
Ed looked to the ground, feeling the fear and shame he always felt around his mother and tears were swelling up in his eyes.
"I'm sorry mom! I was with my girlfriend..."Ed said in a blubbering way.
However, to his surprise, his mother's angry look and Sarah's mean look soon went away and they both looked surprised.
"Girlfriend?..." His female relatives asked shocked.
Sarah, however, recovered and scoffed in disbelief.
"Yeah, right! There's no way you are dating Nazz..." Sarah said dismissively.
Ed nodded.
"You are right, baby sister. I am not dating Nazz. My girlfriend's name is May..."Ed said, now smiling and looking lovesick.
"May?..."His mother said, sounding pleasantly surprised as her son smiled, and unlike that vacant smile he does when he makes a mess, he looked...like he was in love.
Sarah narrowed her eyes, still not believing it.
"What are you pulling there, mister? I never heard of a May before..."Sarah said.
"She just moved to Peach Creek. Mom, she is the best. She is really nice, pretty and smells better than chickens and gravy together..."Ed said as he sighed in a lovesick sort of way.
Sarah still looked like she did not believe him, but to her shock, she saw that their mother was SMILING now.
"Why Edwin, that's wonderful..."She said, looking pleased, happy that her son managed to find a girlfriend.
"May is wonderful..."He said, blushing and smiling even more.
His mother saw this and smiled. She realized now the reason why he was late and almost couldn't blame him if he was feeling what she thought he saw feeling.
She sighed.
Normally, she isn't so lenient but she decided she could cut him some slack this one time.
"Well, alright Edwin, I guess I can forgive it this one time, but just make sure to come home on time..."The mother said and Ed nodded happily.
"Okay, mom..."Ed said, happy that he wasn't going to be grounded like he thought.
Sarah, on the other hand, jaw dropped.
"WHAT?!..."She shouted, unable to comprehend this, while Ed, still a lovesick dope, kept talking to their smiling mother.
"Mom, can May come over tomorrow to watch TV with me, please...'Ed said.
To Sarah's shock, she smiled and nodded.
"Of course, I would like to meet this girl..."She said.
"Thanks, mom..."Ed said, happy, before going off to his room
Sarah looked stupefied, even after her brother and mother had left.
"Ed...has a girlfriend?..."She asked before going off muttering about Ed having a girlfriend over and over.
Meanwhile
At Edd's House
In Double D's home , there was a similar conversation happening.
Edd had come home late and his parents were in the middle of scolding him.
"Eddward!..." Edd's mother said, sounding furious as his father was besides her..."Are you not aware that the agreed upon time for you to return home passed over twenty minutes ago?..."She said in a scolding way.
"Y-Yes mother..."Edd said in a nervous tone while his father frowned.
"Your mother and and I would like a reasonable explanation for your delayed return..."He said, waiting for an explanation.
Edd gulped and blushed. He was still a little shy of the idea about talking about what happened today. On the other hand, they were still his parents and had a right to know why he was breaking their previously agreed upon rules.
He has to confess and hope that they will be understanding
"Mother, father...I'm oh so sorry but my tardiness is due to spending time with my new girlfriend today and I lost track of time. I do apologize as it is no excuse for such irresponsibility..."Edd said in a neurotic way.
To his surprise, his parents were silent but had surprised looks on their faces when they heard that one word.
"Girlfriend..."His parents thought, surprised.
"Oh my, it seems that Eddward has arrived to the the age where hormones activated..."His father thought in a scientific way.
"My son has a girlfriend..."His mother thought, looking surprised and pleased by the thought.
True, she thought that since her son was rather shy, that it would have taken a while, maybe high school but it seems that love has arrived earlier than expected.
Edd saw his parents smiling now.
"That's wonderful to hear son. Do we know her family?..."His father asked.
Edd shook his head
"No father, Marie and her family recently moved to Peach Creek..." Edd said with a lovesick smile on his face while he thought of Marie, something that his parents noticed.
"Marie?..."His mother said and her son's smile deepen.
"She is simply wonderful mother. Marie is very beautiful, kind and...simply amazing..."Edd said, looking truly in love right now.
Edd's mother saw the change in her son's facial expressions and had a small, maternal smile on her face at the sight of it.
"Well, that's wonderful to hear. We would like to meet her soon..."She said, wondering who the lucky girl is to make her son this happy.
Double D heard this and smiled.
"We have a date tomorrow and with your permeation, may I go?..."He asked, recalling that he still had rules to follow.
"But of course..."His mother said.
"Provided that you remember to respect your curfew..." His father added
Edd nodded
"Oh, yes. Of course mother, father..."He said quickly..."Once again, I apologize for being late..."He apologized again.
"Well son, we can forgive it this one time but you must promise to be more responsible in the future..."His father said.
Eddward nodded.
"Yes, I promise. Thank you mother. Thank you, father..."He said, grateful.
"You're welcome, now go sanitize before dinner..."His mother ordered.
"I will..."Edd said heading towards the bathroom to wash up for dinner.
Once he was gone, his parents shared a look and smiled.
"Our son is in love..."The mother said, looking so happy.
"If I do recall, it's the bride's parents pay for the wedding..."The father said.
His wife giggled.
Elsewhere
At Eddy's House
Eddy had tried to sneak in through his room, but to his horror, his parents, knowing him so well, had been waiting their and looked mad.
And that is putting it MILDLY!
"Where the heck were you?! Your mother and I were worried sick about you!..."His dad yelled .
Eddy held up his hands in defense.
"Sheesh, dad! I said I was sorry but I got caught up with my girlfriend..."Eddy said and his parents gave him weird looks.
"Girlfriend?..." They asked
"Yep, her name is Lee and she is a fine babe who is all mine..."Eddy said, actually looking lovesick again.
His parents saw this and they knew that he was not lying.
They knew him too well for him to try lying to them, so this means that there IS a girl.
"Well, good for you on..."His dad said, looking proud and a little unsure.
His other son didn't get a girlfriend until high school and they expected the same for Eddy, but it looks like Cupid paid a visit a little early.
It's obvious, given how lovesick he looked right now.
"Lee, what is she like? Do we know her family?..."Mother asked.
"Nope, my babe just moved to Peach Creek but my pals are dating her sisters. Mom, dad, Lee is amazing..."He said, looking more and more in love.
His mother looked pleased at the sight of it.
"We'd love to meet her..." his mom added
Eddy nodded, not seeing any problem with it.
"Sure thing, you can see her after my date with her tomorrow..." Eddy said, before he realized what he said..."But no baby pictures of embarrasing stories, got it..."He said.
"We'll see..."His mother thought with a giggle.
"So, am I still in trouble?..."He asked.
His parents sighed.
"Normally yes, but since it's not every day out son gets a girlfriend, we are leaving you with a warning..."His dad said and Eddy's grin widen.
"SWEET!..."He said, before recovering.
"I mean, thanks...anyway, I gotta go pick out a swank outfit for tomorrow..."He said as he went to his closet.
His parents saw this and laughed.
"Aw, to be young and in love..."His mother said while his father chuckled.
Later
Each of the Ed's were now snug in their bed, with visions of their girlfriends dancing in their heads and unknown to these three, their little girlfriends were dreaming of them too.
Let's take a quick peak, of these little dreams, shall we.
In Ed's Dream
"Hahahahhaha..." Ed laughed as he ra. hand in hand with May
"This is fun Big Ed..." May laughed with Ed as they reached the top of a hill, seeing something that filled their hearts with glee
"CHICKENS!..." Ed cheered, running through an endless field of chickens
The chickens were all moving around, clucking , pecking at the ground and otherwise just being chickens.
But Ed was having the time of his young, simple life and May was laughing too.
"I like chickens..." May cheered as they were now playing with the poultry.
"Pet the chicken! Pet the chicken..." Ed said, petting the birds.
Suddenly, gravy rained down from the sky. Ed looked happily to May, picking her up. Ed spun her around in the gravy rain.
"I love chickens..."May said.
"And Ed loves you, May..." Ed said before they kissed.
In his bed Ed smiled happily hugging his pillow and kissing the pillow
"Ed loves May..." Ed said happily as he kept drooling in his sleep.
In Edd's Dream
Edd was mixing chemicals in his lab , while his lovely assistant was nearby.
A girl wearing a crisp white lab coat and safety goggles. Her blue hair up in a professional looking bun.
She is Edd's wonderful assistant and romantic paramour, Marie Kanker
"Pass me the cholorforic acid, please..."He said.
Edd smiled at his lovely blue haired assistant who passed him the requested chemical .
"Here you are, doctor..." Marie said with a smile
Edd smiled, taking in her lovely form before he added the chemical
"Thank you, my dear..." Edd said, adding the chemical and the smoke formed in a heart shape.
Marie smiled lovingly in Edd's direction
"You're welcome, my love..."Marie said as she took off her goggles, revealing her beautiful eyes.
Edd looked at her beautiful hazel eyes through the tinted lenses of the safety goggles and they were still the most beautiful thing Edd had ever seen in his life.
"Forget science..." Edd said, grabbing Marie and holding her tightly against him.
She sighed romantically at being in his arms.
"Oh, doctor..." Marie sighed.
"Oh, Marie..." Edd said
The two began to kiss their science experiment forgotten
In Eddy's Dream
In the middle of a Las Vegas casino, people walking around, playing games and having a good time.
At the center of it all was the big man on campus. The casino king, Eddy who was wearing a stylish white suit with a black tie and Fedora.
Next to him , on his arm was his gal Lee, with wavy red hair so he could see her dazzling eyes and the diamonds on her ears and around her neck.
Eddy held out his dice and threw them, landing on a lucky seven and winning the jackpot
Yet again
Lee cheered before leaned up and kissing Eddy on the cheek.
"You won the jackpot again, baby..." Lee cheered as Eddy grinned.
"How could I not with my good luck charm by side..."He said lovingly.
Lee giggled as she kissed him on his other cheek and Eddy felt like a true winner now. After she was done, Eddy threw a quarter over his shoulder to a fat, middle aged Kevin .
"Go bring my car around, lackey..."He ordered while Lee kept swooning over him.
"Yes, Mr. Eddy! Of course, Mr. Eddy"... Kevin said, humbly running as fast as his out of shape body could go to get Eddy's car.
"And don't scratch it again..." Eddy yelled.
"Of course, Mr. Eddy! it won't happen again..." Kevin called back.
Once he was gone, Eddy turned to Lee who was sending him flirtatious looks.
"Now where were we?...'Eddy asked as he wiggled his eyebrows.
Lee smiled
"I remember.."She said in a flirty way.
Eddy grinned as Lee leaned forward, her lips red and puckered out and he did the same.
MUAH!~
End Of Dreams
In the REAL World
The three boys were still sleeping peacefully and dreaming of the lovely girls who stole their young hearts.
"May..."Ed drooled her name out in between his snoring.
"Oh, Marie..."Edd said in his deep, lovesick slumber.
"Lee..."Eddy said as he began kissing his pillow.
The three boys continued to dream the night away, now more in love than ever before.
Many, MANY miles away from the Cul-De-Sac
In Paris, France
Cupid Jimmy and Cupid Sarah eventually managed to find their way to Paris and were now in the center of the city of love, admiring the sights and spreading more and more love to people in need of it...or not.
"The view is lovely, is it not mon amee?..."Cupid Sarah asked.
"Indeed, it is...no place is lovelier than Par ree..."Cupid Jimmy said.
"Oui Oui, mon amee..." Cupid Sarah said as they toasted with croissants and sparkling cider after a job well done.
Once they did, they tried to recall the last couples they set up before they left the United States.
"I hope the magic hasn't worn off..." Cupid Jimmy said
"It won't as long as they keep it alive..." Cupid Sarah told her partner
You see, the truth is, their initial effects last only a few days, making the person fall madly in love with the first person they see after being struck by their arrows.
It then fades to a lesser level, an affection still there but if it is to thrive, both parties must put an effort to keep it going and it will either succeed or fade on its own
They are not worry. After all, they are young kids who are experiencing their first love...
Young love is like a the sapling of a tree with proper care and attention and it can grow into a mighty oak that would stand for ages
And if not... well, first heartbreak can sting but it was a wound from which most would recover.
They are not worried.
They seemed like nice kids and the girls did seem to have strong feelings for them, so they are sure that they will be able to work it out.
Besides, what could happen?
