Our fateful story starts during the Third Task of the infamous Tri-Wizard Tournament.

As no one could actually see what was happening inside the maze, the brilliant headmaster of Hogwarts had created the Champion's Clock, an illuminated giant Tri-Wizard Tournament version of the Weasley Family clock. It had four hands, one for each champion that were crafted in a silhouette shadow shape of the champion. Fleur's hand was definitely female, Viktor's hand was tall and stocky, Cedric's hand was tall and well built while Harry's hand was short and skinny. The hands would point to the unfortunate predicament that the respective champion was currently in. Unfortunate predicaments that ranged from; Start / Retired, Safe, Resting, Stunned, Running, Fighting, Lost, Mortal Danger, Certain Death, Game Over, and finally the worst fate of all, Expelled. In the twelve o'clock position was the fortunate predicament of actually wining the Tri-Wizard Tournament Trophy, written in big gold letters with a picture of the trophy. A loud bell would chime every time a hand started moved as the clock made a loud ominous clanking sound, and a bell would chime as the hand moved through each predicament until the hand came to rest as it pointed to the current unfortunate predicament to befall the respective champion.

To show the health or life force of a champion, the headmaster had copied the Hogwarts point system with a display of coloured gem stones in large clear glass containers that were crafted in a silhouette shadow shape of the champion. Fleur's container was definitely female, Viktor's container was tall and stocky, Cedric's container was tall and well built while Harry's container was short and skinny. Each container was filled emerald green gem stones to show the champion's health or life force.

Cedric, Fleur and Viktor's clear glass containers had one hundred emerald green life force gem stones each. Sadly, as Harry's glass container being short and skinny, it only contained sixty emerald green life force gem stones. Hermione didn't think that was fair, but the headmaster had done nothing fair for Harry in this accursed Tri-Wizard Tournament.

The bored faces of the spectators and Ministry Officials would light up every time the clock chimed and then they would eagerly wait for it to indicate a new unfortunate predicament the champion found themselves in and then watch the life force gem stones disappear as each champion was injured by the monsters and trials in the maze.

They had heard Champion's Clock chime as they saw Fleur's clock hand bounced between Running, Fighting, Mortal Danger, Stunned, Safe and finally Retired, as her gem stones slowly disappear until she was attacked with the last few gem stones changed to amber to show that she had retired.

The Champion's Clock chimed as they saw Viktor's clock hand bounced between Running, Fighting, Mortal Danger and then unusually for a world class seeker, he was Stunned. They watched in fear as the bell chimed as Viktor's clock hand moved slowly past Running, Fighting, Lost, Mortal Danger, Certain Death, Game Over, and finally stopped pointing at the worst fate of all, Expelled, as his gems stones turned red as he had been stunned and eliminated.

The Champion's Clock chimed while they saw Harry's and Cedric's clock hands bounced between Running, Fighting, and Mortal Danger, as they were slowly losing emerald green gem stones as they continued to progress through the maze.

Then Harry's clock hand went to Certain Death, and he lost half of his remaining gem stones at once. The crowd gasped as they wondered what had happened to the Boy-Who-Lived.

Then Cedric's and Harry's clock hands pointed to the circumstance of winning the Tri-Wizard Tournament Trophy, as the clock continued to chime and their gem stones started to flash to signal that the Tri-Wizard Tournament Trophy had been touched by both Cedric and Harry, and the Third Task was over.

The spectators gave a huge cheer for Cedric for winning the Tri-Wizard Tournament for the eternal glory of Hufflepuff and Hogwarts.

The manipulative headmaster of Hogwarts smiled to himself as the wards that protected the castle informed him that the Tri-Wizard Tournament Trophy had been touched and the Portkey had left the school grounds. He was a little concerned that two students had been taken but at least Professor Moody aka Barty Junior had done his job to ensure the boy went with the trophy and besides the Tournament was known for its death toll plus a sacrifice could always be twisted to the advantage of the Greater Good.

Then the Champion's clock stopped chiming as Harry and Cedric's hands ominously moved to Mortal Danger, and the spectators groaned in fear at the question of what had the boy done now.

- Lily's Love – The Power the Dark Lord knows not! -

But only two wizards in that huge crowd knew that the real endgame of the third task of the Tri-Wizard Tournament had just started.

The monitoring charms the headmaster had placed on the boy's wand indicated that the Portkey had arrived in the old graveyard near the dilapidated Riddle Mansion in Little Hangleton where he had tracked the monitoring charms he had place on Tom's wand that Pettigrew carried, before the rat ran last year.

Dumbledore smirked as he felt the monitoring charm indicate that the boy had been disarmed or dropped his wand.

But then the clock chimed again as Harry and Cedric's clock hands ominously moved to Certain Death.

Then Champion's Clock chimed again a moment later, as Cedric's clock hand slowly moved to Game Over, while all of his gem stones went black to indicate doom, and the crowd groaned in fear as only Muggle-borns knew what Game Over really meant. While the headmaster chalked up another sacrifice for the Greater Good.

Sadly Harry's clock hand stayed pointing at Certain Death as gem stones slowly disappeared, one by one, until he had only one life-force gem stone left as the crowd of fearful witches and wizards groaned.

Now, all the surprisingly cheerful headmaster had to do, was, to avoid going to rescue the boy while he had to wait for Pettigrew to preformed the dark ritual to restore a magically constructed body for Tom. As he waited he kept a close eye on Severus to see his reaction to his dark mark.

Five minutes after the headmaster had first felt the Portkey leave, a very worried Professor McGonagall rushed out of the maze and came up to him.

"Headmaster! The boys touched the Tri-Wizard Tournament Trophy and it has Portkeyed them out of the maze!"

The headmaster played along. "Boys?"

"Yes, Harry Potter and Cedric Diggory. They decided to touch the Trophy together, and I went to escort them out of the maze. But the Trophy must have been a Portkey and took them and I can't find them anywhere. They are not here. Did you know that the Trophy was a Portkey?" The exasperated witch spoke, annoyed that the headmaster may have forgotten to tell her that.

"Oh, yes, Minister Fudge though it would save time if the Trophy just Portkeyed the winner to the stage for the presentation." The headmaster said loudly enough to get the minister's attention.

"Well they are not here and they are not in the maze."

"Well that is most concerning, Minerva, are you sure the Trophy took them and not one of the traps in the maze?"

"Yes, Albus! I have double-checked! They are not in the maze!"

"Well, we need to search the grounds."

"Dumbledore?" Minister Fudge demanded attention. "What on earth is happening?"

The headmaster smirked, good old Fudge could be always counted on to interrupt and waste time while he explained what was happening. It made it so easy to look busy and in charge while he stalled for time.

The headmaster slowly explained the situation as he stroked his long beard while he kept the corner of his eye focused on Severus. Who had just rubbed his left arm as he surreptitiously checked. That was a good sign for the headmaster as he could see the fear in his Potion Professor's eyes, and he assumed that his pet Death Eater's faded dark mark had just gone completely dark.

Then headmaster smirked as monitoring charm on Tom's wand indicated that Tom had touched it with his new body and now Severus' flinch had indicated that Tom had summoned his misguided minions. He knew Tom, always the showoff, would want to kill the boy in a one sided duel in front of his minions, and the boy would need his wand for that. So, all the headmaster had to do, was to stall for a little more time until the boy touched his wand and then sadly dropped it. Then he could charge in to finish Tom after he had killed the boy.

Fortunately for the headmaster, Fudge's pink toad came up and demanded answers. The headmaster smirked as he wasted even more time while Amos Diggory arrived to loudly demanded that the headmaster do something.

The headmaster smiled at the growing noisy chaos as Fudge, Amos and the toad started to yell at each other.

In the cold dark but not so silent Muggle graveyard in a forgotten quaint old Muggle village of Little Hangleton where the Tri-Wizard Tournament Cup Portkey has brought our heroes, Harry James Potter, and his most unfortunate fellow champion, Cedric Diggory.

Poor brave courageous Cedric lies dead, crumpled on the cold damp grass after being ruthlessly murdered by the Death Eater and true betrayer of James and Lily Potter, Peter Pettigrew, on the order of the dark lord Babymort for just being the uninvited and unwanted spare. Even being a Pure-blood didn't change the brave loyal Hufflepuff's fate.

Harry's wand lay on the ground where he had dropped it next to Cedric's body when his cursed scar had burnt so fiercely and his cry of agony had distracted his poor friend.

The Tri-Wizard Tournament had all been part of an evil cunningly devised plan to get Harry away from the safety of Hogwarts and the protection of the Leader of the Light, Albus Dumbledore, and to allow his long time nemesis, Tom Marvolo Riddle also known as Lord Voldemort, to preform a dark ritual to restore himself to power with a magically constructed body containing a few drops of Harry's blood.

Once he had returned from the dead, Voldemort was determined to finally get his revenge and painfully kill the Boy-Who-Wouldn't-Die. But he would show off first before his Death Eaters as he played with Harry's pain and suffering.

Harry watched as he was being held in place by the stone Angel of Death that stood over the grave of the Riddle family. The angel held the shaft of its dreaded wicked Scythe across Harry's throat trapping him against its cold stone body with Harry using his hands to try and stop the shaft from crushing his larynx. Sadly he had a front row position to watch the return the of the dark lord and where he would wait for his obvious his fate.

The traitor, Wormtail, had cut Harry's arm to take by force the blood needed to resurrect his foe.

Oh, how Harry had wished that the abomination would drown in that giant cauldron, but the dark lord rose and summoned his Death Eaters. Harry's blood ran old as Tom had a lovely chat with him as they waited. Then he watched as Lord Voldemort cursed and punished the murderous cowards who had failed him. He thought about telling Tom about the destroyed diary and dead Basilisk but realised that would make Tom angry with him as well as causing the well deserved painful death of the father of his school yard nemesis, Draco Malfoy, and he didn't want to be responsible for another child to lose their father.

As Lord Voldemort, Tom had many faults though no one would dare to point that out to him. But Tom was very generous in one aspect. He loved to share pain. His favourite curse was the Cruciatus Curse and he very generously shared the pain and suffering he had felt for the last thirteen years with his groveling cowardly evil minions.

Finally, Tom had grown bored of punishing his evil minions and Harry knew he was next.

"Yes," said Voldemort, a grin curling his lipless mouth as the eyes of the circle flashed in Harry's direction. "Harry Potter has kindly joined us for my rebirthing party. One might go so far as to call him my guest of honor."

There was a silence. Then the Death Eater to the right of Wormtail stepped forward, and Lucius Malfoy's voice spoke from under the mask.

"Master, we crave to know... we beg you to tell us... how you have achieved this... this miracle... how you managed to return to us..."

"Ah, what a story it is, Lucius," said Voldemort. "And it begins - and ends – with my young friend here."

He walked lazily over to stand next to Harry, so that the eyes of the whole circle were upon the two of them. The snake continued to circle.

"You know, of course, that they have called this boy my downfall?" Voldemort said softly, his red eyes upon Harry, whose scar began to burn so fiercely that he almost screamed in agony.

"You all know that on the night I lost my powers and my body, I tried to kill him. His mother died in the attempt to save him – and unwittingly provided him with a protection I admit I had not foreseen... I could not touch the boy."

Voldemort raised one of his long white fingers and put it very close to Harry's cheek.

"His mother left upon him the traces of her sacrifice... This is old magic, I should have remembered it, I was foolish to overlook it... but no matter. I can touch him now."

Harry felt the cold tip of the long white finger touch him, and thought his head would burst with the pain. ….GoF

Harry couldn't stop himself as he screamed while his famous cursed scar burnt with a growing intensity at the touch of Voldemort's long cold finger. But Tom was a little too heavy-handed as his razor sharp magical claw that was his fingernail of his new magically constructed body, accidentally sliced through the magical binding that secured the infamous cursed scar, and it ripped open with an angry hiss as it started to bleed black blood and a dark mist escaped.

In Harry's extreme pain, his instinctive reaction was to flinch away from the monster who had caused the pain and his hands forced away the shaft of the dreaded Scythe that the stone Angel of Death held across his throat. As his head cleared the shaft, his back slipped down the statute to his knees on the ground as he watched the black mist pour out of his scar and then rise up to enter the snake like nostrils of the shocked dark lord as his eyes turned from dark red to black.

Harry could feel his mind clear up as the black mist left his scar and took that burning pain away with it. He looked up to see the horrified expression on Voldemort's face as the monster sunk to his knees before him in excruciating mind-blowing pain as his hands held his bald head.

Harry thought he could read that horrified expression as plain as day.

The polite version read!

'NO! Not this pain again! Why can't I just kill the boy!'

(My muse will leave it to your own dark imagination what the impolite version of what Voldemort actually screamed.)

For Harry, it was déjà vu as Quirrellmort had tried to touch him as well!

And Harry's clear sharp mind remembered that Quirrellmort had actually tried to strangle him.

But then everything changed when Harry had touched the two faced dark lord with his bare hands. His hands had burnt Quirrellmort and turned his body to ash.

Harry watched as the distracted black eyed dark lord in front of him, slumped lower on his knees until his butt sat back on his heels and he was the same height as the undersized Boy-Who-Lived.

Harry closed his eyes as he whispered. "Mother, don't fail me now!"

Then Harry opened his eyes to stare down the most evil dark lord and saw the fear in his black eyes.

"I can touch you too!"

Harry whispered in a harsh bitter anger as his throat was hoarse from screaming. He slowly reached out with both hands and wrapped them around the newly formed throat of the brand new body of the dark lord and cruel evil murderer of his parents.

"Want to see what happens?"
