Chapter-1

Let me just say I hate myself, sure Uncle Charlie was nice man but going to his funeral was probably one of the biggest regrets of my life although saying previous life was more accurate. My death wasn't even spectacular, It just happened to be raining during his funeral and sad to say that dress shoes and mud don't mix, in short I slipped, hit my head on a gravestone and died.

I was only twenty damn it! I didn't even get a girlfriend before I died!

It had been a week since I had woken up in Remnant, and of all things I was in Mercury Black's body. Oh and Mercury's now a ghost and following me around but describing him as a Stand from JoJo's Bizarre Adventures was more accurate, I mean I was the only one who could constantly see him in his 'spectral form' and he actually had to materialize so that people could see him and in order for him to actually hit things.

And worst of all he could see my memories and vice versa, he already saw his future but just nonchalantly shrugged when I brought the topic up with him, thankfully he saw the events only and didn't see it as a show and didn't even ask for an explanation.

But currently the fact that he was nearly bowling over laughing meant that he had reached the rather embarrassing memories or going through my YouTube memories,

"HAHAHA! OH MY! THEY MADE YOU DRESS LIKE A GIRL?!"

"IT WAS ONE TIME OKAY!"

Everybody looked at me as if I was mad, it wasn't my fault that they couldn't see him! I pushed onwards with my hands; you know those little red wagons that kids play with? Yeah I had to use it to go from village to village since both my legs had to be amputated above the knee, apparently when Cinder and Emerald had tried to go and recruit him it wasn't the first time he tried to kill his father and since I was now in his body I had access to all his unpleasant memories including the one where he actually killed his father but subsequently died leaving me to amputate his or my legs.

Something was really wrong with canon if he escaped this early, either some asshole of a deity out there is laughing his heart out at my current predicament.

"Why are you following me again?"

"Cause there's nothing else for me to do"

"Fair enough"

Apparently Mercury's father had saved up a ton of cash in case of a rainy day so monetary problems were not something I had to worry about, as for weapons it turns out Talaria had been his weapons since he started training with his father, but the fact that I didn't have any legs was a big problem, that was why we were travelling to Argus, to see if we couldn't snag some Atlesian Prosthetics,

"So what are you going to do?"

"We already had this conversation"

"You seriously think you can stop her?"

"No, but I can minimise the damage that'll be done, for all I know my presence here had already changed things"

"Fair point"

"So are you going to stop me?" I shouldn't have asked that question since he already defended me his manifested form from a fair share of beowolves and Ursai but I needed his confirmation,

"Naah, you're too interesting"

"You know most people would react badly to the person that took over their bodies"

"I'm not most people am I?"

"Fair point"

I rolled my way through the town, I was betting on this town having a gunsmith at the least, the rifle I snagged from underneath Marcus' bed packed a punch but I was running low on ammo,

"I am so thankful that I inherited your muscle memory"

"Yeah but considering that my fighting style consists of mostly kicks that point is moot"

"That is why my friend we're going to Argus to get a pair of cybernetics"

Merc was silent for the rest of our walk, luckily this town had a gunsmith so I rolled into his shop, the owner who assumed was some type of wolf Faunus judging from the ears on top of his head looked at me with interest, I tossed the rifle on the counter,

"I need ammo for that, and fire dust rounds if you have them please"

I tossed a few cards of lien on the counter as well; the man looked at me suspiciously. I was after all a fifteen year old amputee with a huntsman level rifle, who rolled into his shop on a red little wagon,

"Where's your parents kid?"

"Dead, both of them, mom died on a mission"

"And your dad?" I took a deep breath before proceeding to explain what I now knew from Merc's memories,

"After my mom died, Dad became a drunk and also became an assassin. He came back home everyday smelling of blood and booze, every day of training was torture till I unlocked my Aura, and then he beat me to an inch of my life till the day I unlocked my Semblance"

"That's a rather tall tale" I just pointed at the stumps that had once been my legs,

"Fought for my freedom and won, but lost them in the process"

"And you've been travelling by yourself?"

"My semblance is more than enough to help me survive most Grimm" I was a nervous wreck on the inside but managed to keep a calm demeanour,

"Okay how much do you want?"

"How much can I get with the money I gave you?"

"Ten magazines of normal rounds and three mags of fire dust rounds"

"I'll take it"

"Wait here while I go get your things"

I sat there contemplating on what to do, on one I had five years to prepare for canon but the question was rather how, if I did try to save Amber and kill Cinder in the process than that would result in Salem sending any other young woman she can find, better the enemy you know than the enemy you don't, Sorry Amber.

And for all I know the attack on Beacon would finally get the Immortal Wizard to break the status Quo and go on the offense for once in all his lives, but then again who's to say he hasn't tried this before. But if the theories were right then the catch was to ask the Jinn how to defeat Salem not if he himself could defeat the wicked witch and that was where I would step in and hopefully the butterfly effect wasn't as crazy as they showed it to be in fanfictions.

And the fall of Beacon, the dragon could be dealt with If I manage to find a way to make it to Ironwood's flagship and just freaking ram the thing, but that was a bridge I would cross when and if I got there. Now most people who are inserted into a fictional world will be like, 'WTF you doing! Do you wanna die?' my simple answer is I don't care, I'm not a hopeful hero who thinks he can stop the fall, no I'm more interested in minimising the damage done to this world as a whole.

"Here kid, just don't make me regret giving you this"

The shopkeeper came back and tossed a bag onto my wagon, I mumbled a simple 'thanks' and rolled out of the shop, the cobbled streets were a bit rough on my wagon but the only reason I didn't ditch this things was because If I got a wheelchair it would be much harder to travel and a wheelchair didn't have the cargo space that this baby had,

"You know that you can't just wheel yourself over to Argus"

"I know, that's why I'm trying to get to the next town, I hear that there was a bullhead service that was connected directly to Argus"

"You know I was looking through your memories again" I groaned and asked, "And?"

"Your real name won't stick around in these parts, it's too different"

"What are you suggesting?"

"I dunno just use my name I guess?"

I stopped the wagon, I let out a breath and looked at my calloused hands, a week of constantly pushing dirt, rock and even proper roads had done a number on them, and as big as this town was it didn't receive a bullhead service that went directly to Argus.

"Merc I said it once and I'm gonna say it again, I have too much respect for you to just take up your identity"

"Why not, I mean you're already in my body, you have my memories and my fighting style drilled into your head"

"Like I said" I pushed against the wagon in the direction of the town hall, "You went through a lot, and instead of caving in you fought on despite everything and everyone, and by everyone I mean your father being assholes to you"

Mercury just shrugged, I sighed and continued rolling onwards. Everyone gave me a wide berth and looked at me with pity, I suppose talking to Mercury wasn't doing wanders for my reputation or maybe it was the rifle that I had slung over my back.

Reaching the town hall was easy enough, but there was a slight problem with entering it, that slight problem being three thugs with knives standing in front of me, their clothes had a very Mad Max feel to them and wore a red and black insignia on their clothes, I almost recognized them from somewhere but I couldn't point it out, maybe they reminded me of a movie I saw in my previous life?.

"Lookie here boys, we got a crippled old man wheeling himself around"

"Nah it's a kid can't you see" he grabbed my hair, "See he just has silver hair"

"I'm an amputee not a cripple" I grabbed the thug's hand and put all my strength into crushing it, the thug screamed and his partners immediately pulled out their weapons. The guy was lucky that he had Aura or I would have crushed his hand, normally I wouldn't be this violent but looking through Mercury's memories helped a bit to brace me for the violence that would come.

"AAHHG! Damn kid has a grip of iron" the thug glared at me and I glared back with equal hostility, his friends pointed their weapons at me, the leader apparently spoke up, "Listen Kid, why don't you give us that weapon on your back along with all your Lien, and maybe we'll all forget this ever happened"

I looked around and all the people were scrambling away, everyone was rushing into their homes and shutting all of their doors and windows, I sighed and backed up a bit and reached for my rifle, Merc was already standing behind them with a stance that somehow managed to radiate both his smugness and devil may care attitude.

"Slowly old boy, don't want you to do anything that you might regret" I nodded but technically it was to Mercury who immediately send two flying away with a roundhouse kick, with practiced motions that were not mine I transformed Marcus' rifle into it's spear form, pulling the trigger the semi-automatic sniper rifle tore through the man's Aura with three rounds and the fourth one went through his head.

Now, normally I would have thrown up at the sight but since I had access to Mercury's memories what happened to the man was considered mercy considering what Marcus made his son do, all in the sake of 'training' he would force his son to kill somebody, be they child or old and senile and the worst part being that he made him do it in the way that made the victim's death as agonizing as possible.

The other jumped at me with his cutlass pistol hybrid, quickly twirling the spear I parried his blow to the side and pulled the trigger, three consecutive shots and his Aura broke, either they had tiny Aura or little to no control of their Aura yet, that was the only explanation as to how theirs broke so easily. Unfortunately that manoeuvre had caused me to fall from my might steed of steel, quickly rolling to avoid a stab I avoided two more blows like that.

With a quick swish from the spearhead the brutish man's left knee was now a bleeding mess, he fell down and grabbed his knee, letting out a string of curses. Turning my head around I saw Mercury in his manifested form, he was partly translucent but other than that he looked like a completely normal person, his knee was on the back of the apparent thief,

"Our boss will hear of this kid, trust me that you won't like it" putting my most arrogant smirk on I answered, "Oh I don't like it already"

He grit his teeth and glared at me, I tossed Marcus's rifle spear to Merc who caught it with ease, I climbed up on and rolled forward on my 'red chariot',

"Go home and tell your boss that Mercury Black doesn't like the way he runs things, and if he wants to get even he should take it up with me"

"Ha! She'll gut you faster than you can say fish"

"We'll I am Marcus Black's son, and since I recently killed him I'd say that we'd be evenly matched" that sentence wasn't completely true, it was Mercury who killed him and me without legs and only memory and no practice can do so much from my little red wagon.

Mercury lifted his knee and stood up tossing the rifle back to me, shortly after he returned to his 'spectral' form, the townspeople looked amazed to say the least, the man helped his friend up as the two of them hobbled away,

"Raven Branwen will hear of this kid! You'll never see us coming"

I froze immediately, Raven Branwen, Leader of the Branwen tribe?, the spring maiden?! I fucked up more than usual didn't I?

"Hey Vincent" this was the first time Mercury ever used my real name, "How many people does it take to deliver a message?"

"One why?" realization dawned upon me like a truck hitting a toddler at full speed on a highway, "Are you saying that I should shoot one of them?"

"Considering that Raven Branwen is the most feared bandit on this side of Anima then yeah"

"Wouldn't that just paint a bigger target on our backs?"

"You mean your back and yes and no to your second question to be honest, it'll send a message that you're not a person to be messed with"

"But that just means that they're gonna be gunning for me"

"Yeah, but you've got me so I guess you can rest easy and if they do they won't do it in Argus of all places"

"It's creepy how well we've bonded"

"We're connected dumbass, and if you're gonna shoot them I suggest you do so before they get out of range"

I sighed and switched the weapon into it's rifle mode and aimed down its scope, putting one of the bandit's head in the crosshairs. Controlling my breath I reminded myself that these were men who took from those that couldn't defend themselves and left them to the Grimm.

Quickly switching the mag for one of my fire dust rounds I adjusted my aim at the man's torso and pulled the trigger, the bullet flew through the air and hit the impacted against the man's back, his body burst into flames, his partner looked on as he trashed around and rolled on the ground unable to do anything, he looked back at me with absolute fear on his face.

And I enjoyed his expression of terror and gave him the most psychopathic smile that I could muster and waved with no care in the world, I heard Mercury materializing next to me and imitating my action. That was enough for the bandit as he sprinted with all his strength towards the town's exits.

What I did was undoubtedly cruel but I couldn't care less about Raven and her tribe, what I did care about was that these people realize that they weren't weak or insignificant and that they had a chance to fight back.

"I thought you weren't gonna steal my identity?"

"Not a word"

"didn-"

"NOT A FREAKING WORD!"

Putting my rifle back in its place I rolled onwards heading for the town hall, the doors opened on their own. The clerks who opened the door were staring at me with a mixture of fear and awe, rolling onwards towards the big board and checked to see if there were any flights and sure enough there was one bullhead that was stopping by here in the afternoon.

The only problem about it was the fact that it wasn't heading to Argus but it went to Mistral rather, I frowned when I saw it's destination, I was pulled out of my musing by a young woman who called out to me,

"E-excuse me? Can I help you" She had red fiery hair and ocean blue eyes and a rather nice figure and was trying to hide behind her clipboard, she was pretty attractive I guess, but then again even if I could seduce someone into my bed it would be moot since Markus cut of this body's balls as punishment for trying to run away for the fourth time.

Yeah I'm not gonna sugar-coat it anymore; Mercury has had one of the worst lives I've ever known. And it explained a lot about his Devil may care attitude and general apathy to the suffering of the common man.

"Yes, I believe that you can, if I take the bullhead to Mistral city then is there any bullhead that flies to Argus"

"I a-assume you want to get prosthetics?" Jesus! This girl was a nervous train wreck waiting to happen, looking behind her to see multiple clerks whispering I drew to the conclusion that she must have been press ganged onto this,

"Yes, yes I am"

"O-oh... I g-guess you're a huntsman?"

"Not exactly"

"But you do know how to fight"

"Yes I do"

"So you'll probably want to get higher quality prosthetics?"

"Yes, and you do seem to know a lot about the world in general" Boyish Charm activate! She smiled a bit at the compliment and shied away while she pushed a hair strand back, Boyish Charm successful. Mercury was standing at her side clutching his stomach and laughing, traitor!

"I s-suppose?"

"So can you help me get a ticket? Sorry If you find me sceptical but last I checked your town doesn't have a CCT relay tower"

"Well we have a dish on top of the building that catches the signal from the next town's CCT relay tower"

"Okay then I'll get one ticket to Mistral and a Mistral to Argus ticket"

"I could but it would be better if you book a flight to Atlas from Argus after that"

"Why?"

"Well, high quality prosthetics are available in Argus but it's better if you head to Atlas. They make the best prosthetics in the world there"

I rubbed my non-existent stubble and looked at her, she didn't seem to be lying and if I factored in Mercury's assassin training, all the signs of nervousness were present but no signs of lying were present, she wasn't necessarily looking down neither was she fidgeting too much but was clearly scared, and she had every right to be I mean, me an amputee fifteen year old just took out three members of the infamous Branwen tribe.

"All right" I reached behind me and into the small leather bag that contained most of my Lien, "How much would it be for the entire journey"

"Uh..." she quickly grabbed a calculator from one of the tables, "25,000 Lien, sir"

"25,000 Lien huh" I grabbed the Lien cards from my money bag, "Here and the change is your tip I guess?"

"No I can't accept it Sir"

"Just keep it"

Keeping my cool I rolled out of the town hall and decided to gather up some supplies for the journey, I nearly ran out of food from my last excursion and right now I felt like I could use a shower, taking a look at the watch that I stole from Marcus' corpse and doing a quick mental calculation, I had three and a half hours remaining.

Well better get a drink, if possible.

Turns out that I forgot that I was a kid and nearly got a bartender in trouble, but then again Merc does look older than his actual age but thankfully Marcus' lessons in espionage and lies helped me take the heat off the bartender but I had to pay a hefty fine to the council for causing a rather 'small disturbance' that small disturbance being three more dead members of the Branwen Tribe.

"Where do you think they were earlier?"

"Drinking obviously" I stated in a matter-of-fact tone, Mercury was much smarter than he was portrayed in the show evident by the knowledge and memories I now possessed but at times he could act like a complete idiot. Currently he was trying to poke the dead men, Trying being the key word since he was in his 'spectral' form as I liked to call it.

"Oi Barkeep" the man looked at me; I tossed a few Lien cards worth a couple of hundred on the counter, "That's for whatever damage I caused"

Hobbling my way over to my overturned wagon I righted it and put my luggage back, after two unsuccessful tries to get back on top of it due to sore arms. I was thankfully help onto it by one of the patrons of the bar.

Mutter a quite 'thank you' I made my way back to the town hall, rapping my knuckles on the door they were quickly opened by one who I assumed was one of the numerous clerks working inside the building, he guided me over to an empty desk and told me to wait.

After a few minutes of waiting the same woman from before came smiling and sat down on her desk, she wasn't afraid of me, not anymore at least.

"Well Sir, I have your tickets right here. I forwarded my message to the city of Mistral and your tickets to Argus can be collected from there"

She held the ticket out in front of me; I took and put it in the inner pocket of my jacket. I didn't have the epic outfit that Mercury wore in the show just yet but I'll need legs first. Speaking of legs what many people in the show assume is that Talaria's a pair of gun boots but they're not, they're a pair of gun greaves.

Thanking her I rolled past people and made my way over to the outskirts of town where the bullhead was going to land, there were more people in the streets than before, either there was something going on that I didn't know or they were people who are gonna travel as well.

When I arrived I saw the craft that was going to take us to Mistral, and surprisingly it was rather streamlined compared to the monstrosities that were presented in the show, If I had to compare it to something I'd say it look the most like a V-22 Osprey but would jet engines instead of propellers, but then again bad design in the show could just meant that they lacked the budget and time to animate something that could actually fly.

And I also had to take into account that I was on a world where people had strange eye and hair colours and where ninety percent of their weapons were guns, and the fact that the remaining bits of the moon didn't fall down on to the Earth or Remnant was just one of the few things that we're weird about this world.

The ramp at the back opened up and what I assumed was a huntsman stood at the end and observed the people while a uniformed man presumably the conductor started collecting tickets; the huntsman had a rather nasty looking morning star that had an ammunition magazine built into it at the back end, the fact that he bothered to wear armour and had a fair share of scars on his face meant that this man was a grizzled veteran and was not to be fucked with.

I rolled up to the man collecting the tickets, the huntsman squinted his eyes at me in suspicion while the man collecting the tickets raised an eyebrow,

"Son" I turned to the man with the tickets, my arm was ready to reach the rifle on my back, "Your name hasn't been filled in yet"

He took out a pen from his pocket and I breathed easily, "Mercury Black"

"Alright, hey Nyon help the boy up will ya?"

The huntsman grumbled something unintelligible and took the handle on the front of my wagon and dragged me up the ramp and into the airship.

(A/N)- The plot bunnies for this had been hopping around in my mind for a long time and they were breeding faster than I could've anticipated and I decided to write this story down and post it here.

Now I've never written anything in a first person POV in my life even in school, combine that with the fact that English isn't my first language that equals disaster and I'd like to do it for this story so if any of you have any tips or help regarding writing in general it would be greatly appreciated.

Any review or creative criticism is greatly appreciated.
