Chapter One: Secret Origins pt. 1.

2000 Imperial Calendar. Smallville, Kansas Territory of the Holy Britannian Empire.

A shower of meteors from the night's sky over the Holy Britannian Empire. With a great flaming crash one meteor struck in a field of corn near a lone farm. The Cardemonde family farm.

2009 Imperial Calendar. Aries Villa, Pendragon. Holy Britannian Empire.

The young prince Lelouch Vi Britannia looked on with horror at his mother's bloody corpse. Beneath her body was the still alive but traumatized form of his younger sister Nunnally.
As Lelouch fell to his knees gripping his head, he screamed loudly, his eyes towards the shattered windows displaying the night sky. Trying to avoid looking at the horrible reality below him he kept focused on the moon. And as his mother's blood continued to flow on the ground, across the image of the moon flew a swarm of bats.

2010 Imperial Calendar. Tokyo, Japan post-Invasion.

The Prime Minister Genbu Kururugi lay dead on the ground in the compound from where he had intended to launch orders for a bloody final stand against the invading Britannian military.
But before he could give the order, from an old green lamp passed down from generations, an emerald glow struck him down. Only his son, Suzaku had seen the whole strange thing. He doubled over, traumatized and on his finger was something that had not been there before. A green ring in the image of a lantern.

2017 Imperial Calendar. Tokyo Settlement, Area 11.

"Another in a ring of incidents in which a thought to be respected member of the nobility has been brutally assaulted has occurred," said an attractive young news announcer over the large monitor in the city. 'Roman Sionis, head of Sionis Industries, was found in one of the warehouses under his name severely beaten along with several individuals armed with weaponry reserved for the military and in possession of record amounts of the illegal drug Refrain. It was there he was found, like many others, hung upside down with the brand of a bat on his skin. As such authorities are treating this as another action committed by the mysterious vigilante the press has dubbed, the Batman."

A smirk appeared on a young man's face as he rode in the sidecar of his friend's motorcycle. The young man, Lelouch Free, had just completed a rousing game of chess against a fat idiot of a nobleman. Humiliating the nobility was a truly fulfilling and rewarding pastime of his. Of his and that of his friend, Rivalz Cardemonde who drove him.
The news then cut to a report about a stolen canister of poisonous gas by Eleven terrorists. Prince Clovis La Britannia spoke out requesting a moment of silence for the soldiers lost during this heist. Silence would to nothing. Only action mattered in this world.
And action appeared to be on today's venue for the two young men as an out of control truck nearly ran them both off the road. The truck crashed in a nearby construction site.

"Someone might be hurt," Lelouch yelled as he leapt out of the sidecar and ran to the truck, his chess case still in his hand.

Rivalz looked on at the truck and noticed things his brilliant friend couldn't. He tugged at his coat collar, feeling what was hidden beneath it.

Inside the truck, a red haired girl cursed. She hated being called an Eleven, she was Japanese dammit, and she'd remind the world of what it meant to be Japanese. She, and her friends would remind the Britannians what it meant to be Japanese.
She thought she felt there was something else in the back of the truck with her as her friend Nagato got back on the road. But when she heard the oncoming Britannian forces her mind focused. She quickly entered the old Glasgow Knightmare Frame her group had managed to acquire. As she took it out into the street to do battle with her oppressors she never noticed the figure donning a cape and cowl.

The truck sped towards the Shinjuku Ghettos where the former Japanese were left in poor living conditions in comparison to the Britannians who occupied their nation. Once again the truck came to a messy halt, but the driver had been spared from a bloody end. He had been pulled from his place at the driver's seat and seemed to fly over the truck as it crashed and broke open revealing the canister.

"What the hell?" Nagato muttered, trying to catch his breath.

He looked around, trying to make sense at how he could have made it out of such a crash alive. It was when he looked behind him that he noticed who it was that saved him. A figure cloaked in a dark cape and a cowl in the image of a bat.

"Batman," he said in awe.

He had heard of the legend of the Batman. A shadowy figure who seemed to expose Britannian corruption. However the Batman had also clashed with several Japanese resistance groups as well. As such he was something of an enigma to the Japanese.

"Don't be stupid," Batman said with a modulated voice, as if knowing Nagato was reaching for his gun. "Run, now, blend in with the others. When the Britannians come I will deal with them."

"No, I have to get this back to base," said Nagato, struggling to his feet. "The Japanese need the gas."

"You were sloppy and your actions are going to get a lot of people killed," said Batman, as if lecturing a child. "Go, now."

Nagato tried to raise his gun but before he could move Batman struck him down with one punch.

"Idiot," Batman hissed as the roof gave way.

A squad of Britannian soldiers descended from a helicopter. Before they hit the ground they had opened fire on Batman, but Batman proved swifter as he threw several razor sharp bat shaped projectiles and cut their cords. Several soldiers fell without coordination and with the aid of the sheer height the fell from they would not trouble him any time soon. Not without further injury. All save one, who seemed to adjust himself in the air. The landing would have hurt but whatever pain he felt the soldier didn't give it away. Nor did it let him stop him as he charged at Batman. The masked man threw another projectile only for the soldier to effectively dodge into the air and do an impossible spin-kick that would have struck true had Batman not anticipated such a move. He grabbed his enemy's leg and threw him only for the soldier to readjust himself safely.

'This one is well trained,' thought Batman.

The soldier drew his gun but Batman threw another projectile which sliced the gun in two. The two combatants then resorted to hand to hand combat. Batman and the masked soldier kept in sync with each other. The soldier was indeed well trained but Batman was as well.

"You're good," said Batman, once the two drew back.

"For a terrorist, so are you," said the soldier.

Beneath his mask Batman's, or rather Lelouch's eyes, widened upon recognizing the voice.

'Suzaku,' he thought.

This allowed the soldier the opportunity knock Batman down. He began to reach for his mask only for the canister to burst open in a brilliant display of green and gold light. This light appeared to ignite green flames all over the solder who fell back. Batman got to his feet and looked at the source of the light. A beautiful young woman with long green hair in a prisoner jumpsuit and straitjacket.

The Knightmare she had wasn't as high tech as the newer models the Britannian Purebloods but the redhead, Kallen Kozuki, was holding her own. But more and more Britannian forces were beginning to pour into the ghettos.

"Ohgi, tell me what we've got?" Kallen asked over the channel she and her friends were using. "Did Nagato get to you with the gas?"

But the voice that came over was not that of her friend Kaname Ohgi. It did not even come over the radio.

"Kallen Kozuki," it boomed. "I have chosen you."

"What the hell?" she said.

Electricity began to spark all around the cockpit. And just as an enemy slash-harkin struck her Knightmare, a bolt of lightning struck her Knightmare, destroying it.

All over the Shinjuku Ghetto the Britannian forces began to launch attacks on Eleven citizens. Many of whom had nothing to do with this incident. However something unusual began to happen on the battlefield.
Reports began to circulate of a red-blue blur that seemed to take away the Elevens before their weapons could land any hits. This same blur also appeared to be smashing said weapons.

"What the devil is going on?" yelled Clovis, from his base. "How are the Elevens doing this?"

"Unknown sire," said General Bartely. "But this...blur is causing a great deal of confusion among our ground forces. Not only are they losing track of the Elevens but they are losing the weapons to fight them with."

"Oh my, that is a problem now isn't it?" said the voice of Lloyd Asplund. "If this keeps up even if you find the gas there's nothing you can do if its surrounded by the enemy. Oh what to do?"

"I suppose your toy could do any better Earl Asplund?" asked Clovis.

"Well if these terrorists are giving you trouble with some kind of new toy of their own its only fair to try and even the playing field," said Lloyd. "And please...call it Metallo."

Pulling off the soldier's mask, Batman saw that it indeed was Suzaku Kururugi under there. It took all the willpower Lelouch had not to cry at the sight of his first true friend.
He had thought Suzaku died during the invasion. After he had gotten separated from him and Nunnally. But he was alive and a Britannian soldier. There were so many questions in his mind, especially about the green flame which seemed to have died down and yet left no burns on Suzaku's body.
Other questions were about the girl in the canister. As he was about the check on her more Britannian soldiers entered.

"Well, the infamous Batman that has troubled the nobility so much of late," said the leader.

All guns were trained on him yet Batman stood tall.

"What no words?" asked the commander smugly.

The soldiers circled around Batman and seized the girl who was beginning to awaken.

"No mind," said the commander. "Your story ends here."

And with that Batman wrapped his cape around himself and Suzaku as the soldiers began to fire. Their bullets did nothing to penetrate the cape, much to their annoyance.

"So, you still have your clever tricks eh?" said the commander. "But they won't..."

From the safety of his cape Batman threw up a flash bang grenade which blinded the soldiers momentarily. In that moment Batman quickly ran out and took down the entire squad. Once that was done he made his way to the green haired girl and undid her gag.

"It's alright," he said. "You're safe now."

"Freeze," a woman's voice yelled over a loudspeaker as a Knightmare burst through the wall.

'This is just one of those days,' thought Batman.

Upon recognizing what could only be the vigilante Batman, the Knightmare's pilot Villetta Nu, began to lock on target. It was then the green haired girl spoke up.

"Evom ton od," she yelled.

The Knightmare began to glow a light red and made no move against the two of them.

"What did you..."

The green haired girl vanished in a literal flash before Batman could finish his question.

"You're welcome," said Batman, turning his attention to the Knightmare.

Leaping up the Frame he took out a small box-like computer and pressed it against the outside of the Knightmare. With a loud ping it soon opened up the machine and Batman got a good look at the pilot. A beautiful woman with dark skin and silver hair. She seemed frozen in place, only her eyes appeared to be moving.

"I'm going to need this," said Batman.

Instead of reuniting with her late brother in heaven as she thought she would, Kallen found herself in some kind of cavern. Or rather an ancient temple inside a cavern. One that had seen better days for sure.
There was a place that seemed reserved for a series of statues. Seven statues it looked like but none where there.

"Where the hell..."

"Far from hell my dear," a voice said.

Kallen turned, drawing her weapon, and saw the source of the voice. An old, old man seated at a stone throne in a circle of stone thrones. Seven stone thrones at that. The old man coughed harshly and dropped the staff he held in his hand.
Despite still being somewhat weary Kallen didn't have it in her heart to ignore a sick old man in need. She went up to the old man and picked up his staff. She also took out a small canteen she had with her. The old man drank slowly, his coughing dying down.

"Thank you my child," said the old man warmly.

"Who are you?" Kallen asked.

"I am...the Wizard Shazam," the old man said.

As if upon the speaking of his name thunder boomed inside the cave, nearly deafening Kallen.

"What...what do you want with me?" asked Kallen, raising her gun lightly.

The Wizard waved his hand and the gun became heated in Kallen's hand, forcing her to drop it. The old, old man's staff then began to glow and both he and Kallen appeared to be in an ancient city.
Kallen noticed the scene before her was similar despite it being in different times. She saw slaves being whipped and tortured by cruel masters.

"This is Khandaq, five thousand years ago," said the Wizard. "Once it was a thriving kingdom. But it soon fell to those who had darkness in their hearts. Not unlike your modern Japan."

"This...this can't be real," said Kallen.

"Oh but it is," said the Wizard. "This was once my home. But even then, I had become aged, and could not use the great power I held to liberate my people. I sought out one who could fight on my behalf."

Kallen saw one of the slaves strike down his overseer. A man with black hair and a muscular build. But for his courage he was overwhelmed and struck down. That was before a bolt of lightning came for him, just like it had for her.

"That..was Teth Adam," said the Wizard. "He was to be my successor. A man who loved his nation and wished to free it from those who would oppress his people. I blessed him with my power and he did so."

"This can't be real, if this happened in the ancient past then why isn't there any evidence of it?" asked Kallen.

"Continue to watch," said the Wizard.

Kallen turned back to the illusion only to see it change. The ancient city was now on fire with scores of dead bodies before her. She gasped in horror and saw the same dark haired man hovering, literally, above the corpses.

"What...what happened?" Kallen asked.

"His liberation," said the Wizard. "Teth Adam, or Black Adam as he became known as, slaughtered those who oppressed his people. Down to the last child."

Kallen cringed at that notion. While she had said many times that she had hated Britannians, but this was...more than she imagined.

"You find this troubling?" asked the Wizard.

"Of course I do," yelled Kallen.

"But is not his way so effective?" said the Wizard. "To destroy the race that enslaved his? To ensure that no future generations would arise? That an entire race lost its future for the sake of his? Would you not do the same to Britannia? Would your friends?"

"Of course not," yelled Kallen. "I fight for the liberation of Japan. This is...this is just butchery."

"And was your capture of the supposed 'poison gas' not your attempt at butchery?" asked the Wizard.

"You know about that?" asked Kallen. "Just...just what the hell is this about? Why are you showing me these images?"

"Because...I wish to know if you will be like him," said the Wizard. "If you will be like Black Adam, who committed twice genocide. First in the name of his people's liberation."

"First?" asked Kallen.

"Second, when his own people called him demon for what he had done," said the Wizard, motioning to the scene they saw.

Kallen gasped, shocked by the idea that one who sought to liberate his people from oppression would then slaughter the very people he sought to save.

"After his crime, I banished Black Adam beyond the farthest star," said the Wizard. "But the task was hard and left me weakened for centuries. The damage done in years long past has helped make your world as it is now. The Seven Deadly Enemies of Man have rested well and soon a great darkness shall cover the world. A darkness that shall destroy all. A virtual Ragnarok that neither the Japanese nor the Britannians will survive."

Kallen couldn't even begin to fully comprehend what she was being told. But at the same time her heart felt as if there was truth in the old man's words.

"What...what can I do?" she asked.

"Tell me Kallen Kozuki, also called Kallen Stadtfeld, will genocide be the key to your Japanese liberation as it was for Black Adam?" asked the Wizard.

Kallen thought about what the Wizard asked her. She thought about what he had told her of Black Adam's actions towards his oppressors. Dead to the last child, an entire race and culture utterly destroyed.
Even the Britannians, as bad as they were, didn't slaughter the entirety of the Japanese. Though with what she had seen starting in the ghettos that might change. She also thought about what the Wizard had shown her of what Black Adam had done to his people when they did not appreciate what he had done for them. If she committed atrocities in the name of Japan would the Japanese condemn her as a monster? Would she do as he did and slaughter the very people she wanted to liberate?

"I...I don't know?" Kallen said, tears falling from her eyes.

The Wizard raised his hand and gently wiped away Kallen's tears. His hands were warm and soft, like those of a kindly grandfather.

"Your tears give the answer for you," said the Wizard. "You have much hot fury in your soul Kallen Kozuki, I have seen that much of you for I know all. I know of your life, what you have suffered, and what your loved ones have suffered."

The illusion changed and Kallen was shown her brother's death. Killed in a shootout with corrupt Britannian officers. She saw her friends fighting desperately in the ghettos.
She also saw her mother, serving as a maid in her father's house under her stepmother. Kallen looked angrily at her mother. She despised how the woman debased herself to be close to a man who abandoned her.
But what she saw was something she had never seen before. She saw her mother, lying in her room with the graffiti the other maids wrote to slander her written on it. She saw her mother take out a small picture of her and her two children. She placed a gentle kiss on the younger image of Kallen, tears flowing from her eyes. This surprised Kallen and even more surprising was when her mother drew a vial of Refrain. After injecting it she began to mutter about her daughter and how she'd always be there for her.

"Stop this," Kallen cried, tears falling from her eyes.

"What you saw of your brother has already passed," said the Wizard. "What your mother does now is already happening. But what comes next is up to you. If you accept the blessing I will bestow upon you, you will have the power to free her. And to stand against the dark forces that would destroy the people you seek to save. But remember the lesson of Black Adam, for the liberator can always become the oppressor."

Kallen turned to the Wizard. While she still felt there were things she didn't understand about any of this. But her heart told her this was something she could use. Something to really help the Japanese. And possibly her mother.
The Wizard held out his staff and Kallen took hold.

"Say my name and my power shall flow through you," he said.

"Shazam," said Kallen.

And with that several bolts of lightning struck Kallen.

"Now you shall go," said the Wizard. "Armed with the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury."

When the smoke cleared Kallen stood in a regal crimson and gold uniform, a thunderbolt glowing on her chest, and a short white and gold officer's cape.

"I...I feel...marvelous," said Kallen.

"You now possess the power of a demigoddess," said the Wizard. "The name and the power of Shazam are now yours. Speak it with righteous intent to gain your power and the intent of humility to transform back to your mortal form. So great is this power that it can flow through you to your family as well or those whom you call family. Use your power wisely my child."

"But...but why me?" she asked. "Aren't I the same as...as him?"

"You came...recommended by one whom I could not refuse," said the Wizard. "Now, to battle with you my Champion."

With another bolt Kallen was gone from the cavern. The Wizard slumped on his throne, death finally coming. But the one whose cape bellowed in windless air was not death. A figure cloaked in green stood before the Wizard.

"She will do well," the figure said

"I hope so," said the Wizard as he crumbled to dust.

"Kallen where are you?" Ohgi cried out into his radio.

The entire operation had turned into a fiasco. And now he may have lost Kallen. After losing Naoto the previous year he was desperate not to lose Kallen the same way. But now it appeared as if his worst fear had come to pass. And now their cause was lost.
But there were other strange reports going on. Such as the red-blue blur that seemed to be wreaking havoc with the Britannians attempts to slaughter the Japanese.

"Are you the commander of these rebels?" a voice asked.

"Who is this?" he asked.

"Ohgi, it's Nagato and you won't believe this but I'm with Batman," said Nagato's voice.

"Batman?" asked Ohgi, truly shocked. "He's real."

"I am and if you wish to survive you will hand over all command of this operation to me," said Batman. "Your recklessness has created a mess which I'm certain you'd rather have the Japanese survive."

"Listen to him Ohgi, I don't know if we can necessarily trust this guy but he's no friend of Britannia that's for sure," said Nagato.

Ohgi thought about what Nagato said and sighed.

"What do you need us to do?" he asked.

The red-blue blur had been making its way across the entire ghetto. While no one could directly see the figure they could recognize its power well enough. Some soldiers even testified that the blur had been able to deflect an artillery round from a tank. And swiped the legs off of a Knightmare Frame, along with its arms. It didn't touch the pilots once their Knightmares were disabled.
But then there came a new player into the mix. A silver Knightmare with a skull shaped head. This one was faster than most others and a bit tougher. Even managing to strike the blur when it came speeding up at it. It sent the blur through a rundown building. It was about to follow when a bolt of lightning struck down between them.
It was there Kallen Kozuki stood in her gold, white, and red suit, electricity sparking off of her.
When the silver skull Knightmare tried to strike at her she dodged with such incredible speed she could hardly believe it. She also found, to her surprise, that she was floating.
Her surprise almost led to her getting slammed by the silver mech before she was pulled out of the way by the red-blue blur.

"What the hell?" she asked as soon as she came to a stop.

She got a good look at her rescuer and saw that he looked like a...Britannian. Though in a ridiculous red and blue suit. He also had a stock of blue hair and grey eyes.

"Who the hell..."

"Look out," he yelled as once again the two of them dodged in a blur as the silver mech gave out an energy blast from a port on its torso.

Once they got around to its backside, the blue man shot beams of crimson heat from his eyes. To their surprise the silver mech was equipped with some kind of energy shield.

"Oh, snap," he said.

The silver giant was about to charge at the two of them before being rammed by another Knightmare. As the silver skull was thrown aside, a dark shadow had leapt from the charging Knightmare and landed before the other two.

"I take it you're the red-blue blue that's been running around rescuing Japanese," said Batman.

As the blue suited person looked up at Batman, both had a mild surprise.

'Rivalz,' thought Lelouch, under the cowl of Batman.

'Lelouch,' thought Rivalz.

"And I'm here too," said Kallen, gaining their attention.

Batman took a long glance at her, in her red and gold, as well as her face. She was the same girl in the truck. Obviously something had happened in the time between then and now but discussion could wait. The silver mech was rising and there was still much to do.

"I've coordinated with the other members of your group," said Batman. "Thanks to him a majority of the Japanese people here in the ghettos have been evacuated and the Britannian forces are severely crippled as well. With what weapons they have your friends are making a push back. The gas was a dud. So right now our biggest obstacle is the silver Knightmare. It's more advanced and more powerful than the others but from the looks of it you have power of your own both of you."

"It's got a shield," said Rivalz. "And it's not a Knightmare. There's no pilot so it's just a drone."

"Which I doubt it can use in conjuncture with its weapons," said Batman. "You focus on the attack. It'll defend but when it gets ready, you rush win with whatever it is you have. Go for the joints, that'll do the most damage."

"Who the hell are you..."

Kallen couldn't finish her protest as Rivalz had gathered the two of them and leapt out of the way of an energy blast coming from a gun on the enemy robot's arm. Kallen shoved Rivalz off of her and flew on her own, charging at the machine. But as soon as it noticed her it fired again, sending her back up into the air. To her shock and awe, she wasn't killed. The blast stung but it did no damage aside from knocking her away.
She was caught once again by Rivalz who set both her and Batman down and began to attack the silver robot.

"Are you done?" Batman asked. "If not, then get out of our way."

Kallen had heard about the Batman. And his attacks on the Britannian nobility, exposing their corruption and brutalizing them for their crimes against the Japanese and even against their own people. His efforts had made him something of an urban legend in both the ghettos and the settlement. So unless she was presented with a viable alternative, her best option was to put her faith in him.
In him as well as the blue guy. Though he was obviously a Britannian and yet, according to Batman, he had saved Japanese lives. That along with his powers was a great mystery to her but it was one she could solve later.

"I can fly and I'm pretty sure I'm strong," said Kallen. "And fast."

"Good," said Batman. "He's keeping on the offensive now, but when he pulls back and the robot begins to attack rush in with all your strength and speed at the joint of its attacking limb."

Kallen nodded and looked for her opportunity. The blue guy was indeed holding his own. His fists seemed to carry enough power to warrant the energy shield from the silver robot. Once he pulled back though the robot began to aim its arm cannon. It was then Kallen took her opportunity, charging out at the arm joint with all her speed, the apparent speed of Mercury as the Wizard had said. Her fists out in front of her she actually shattered the arm at the joint.
The plan had worked, it couldn't defend and attack at the same time. She threw a lighting bolt, an actual lightning bolt, from her hands, forcing it back on the defensive

"Take out the road it walks on," Batman shouted.

Rivalz slammed the road, shattering the ground the robot walked on, causing it to lose balance. Rivalz and Kallen then seized their opportunity and together flew at the torso of the robot, their combined speed and strength shattering the robot entirely.

"What the hell?" yelled Lloyd.

"Incredible," said Cecile, his assistant.

Lloyd didn't share her awe as he was far too busy freaking out over how his beloved Metallo prototype drone had been shattered by two people without Knightmares. Two people who appeared strong enough to do such a feat.
Suddenly his fury was overtaken by immense scientific curiosity.

"Well done," said Batman as the other two floated to him. "I've just received word from Ohgi, the Japanese have all been successfully relocated and the Britannian military is in retreat. He also would like you to go to him since you're apparently dead...Kallen."

"How did you...Ohgi," Kallen sighed.

"Continue dealing with any stragglers," said Batman. "I have other business to deal with."

"Hold on," said Kallen. "I have questions for the both of..."

Batman threw down a smoke pellet, obscuring him from Kallen's view. And Rivalz shot into the sky without another word. Once the smoke from the pellet cleared Kallen could see he was gone.

"Damn it," she cursed.

"This can't be happening," muttered Clovis. "This can't be happening. How can a motley bunch of Elevens do this to me. And my prize is gone. If this gets out I'm..."

"Finished," said a voice in the shadows.

Clovis gasped, he was supposed to be alone in his private throne room on the G-1 base.

"Who is there?" he yelled.

Panicking he drew his communicator, only for it to be knocked out of his hand by a projectile in the shape of a bat. From out of the dark then followed the figure of a giant bat, forcing Clovis onto his back.

"You and I are going to have a long overdue conversation your highness," said Batman.

"I'm afraid you're going to have to get in line," said a new voice.

Batman leaped to his feet, projectile drawn, as a green flash shone in the throne room. Once it died down it revealed to be the girl from before. But this time she wore a fashionable black dress with long white boots.

"Gorf," she said, pointing at Clovis.

In a flash of green, where Prince Clovis La Britannia once cowered, a frog now stood.

"I wasn't done with him," said Batman, not bothered by what he saw.

"Nor am I," said the girl. "I have much to repay him for after what he did to me."

"Do you realize what this is going to cause for the people of this Area?" asked Batman. "To both Japanese and Britannians?"

"That's not really my issue," said the girl, as she scooped up Clovis.

"And just who are you if I might ask?" asked Batman.

"Cetanna Cetara," said the girl. "My friends call me C.C. Bye."

With another flash she was gone, leaving Batman alone in the dark.

With Prince Clovis having vanished and their moral severely diminished by the arrival of these 'monsters' as they called them, the Britannian forces left with no fight left in them.
The moral of Kallen's group however was at a tremendous high. Especially when they saw Kallen and what she had become.

"Holy shit this is awesome," yelled Tamaki, watching as Kallen lifted the remains of the truck over her head with one hand.

"So...this Wizard just gave you these powers?" asked Ohgi, one of the only ones trying to keep his mind from being blown by what Kallen could now do.

"He said I came recommended by someone he couldn't refuse," said Kallen. "Look, I don't really believe that this is happening either. I can fly, shoot lightning, have super strength. It's insane and yet...here it is."

"If I weren't seeing it I wouldn't believe it," said Inoue.

"Believe it," said Asahina. "Because Japan is as good as ours now."

Everyone began to yell in celebration, despite the reservation on Kallen's face, which Ohgi noticed.

"What's the matter?" asked Ohgi.

"When the Wizard brought me to his...cave he showed me someone whom he gave these powers to before," said Kallen, actually sitting down in mid-air. "A slave who used the power to kill his oppressors and then...his own people. I don't know if that is true but...if I were to use these powers to just kill Britannians would I really be any different? And what kind of Britannians are we just aiming for? If this weren't a dud...who were we going to use it on? Children?"

"Kallen..."

"I saw him, I saw that...Black Adam, slaughter children with his power simply because they were of the same nation as the ones who oppressed him," said Kallen. "I...I refuse to kill any child, even if they are Britannian."

"Hey we're not talking about going into the Settlement to slaughter kids Kallen," said Asahina. "But with you on our side we can take out the military easily. Especially if you get those other...people with you."

"But we don't know anything about them," said Inoue. "Batman's a mystery and that blue guy is...who knows what he is."

"He saved pretty much every Japanese in the ghetto," said Ohgi. "And even shattered the Britannian military. He didn't kill anyone, no matter which side. So I have to think whoever he is he's a good guy."

"Who knows," said Kallen.

Escaping the G-1 was easy, as was evacuating the ghetto, and getting back to base. The difficult part would come later when he had to explain what happened today to the family.
This was perhaps the biggest incident he had been apart of yet. Not only that but he had brought...a stray with him. He couldn't simply leave Suzaku to the Britannians or to the Japanese if they found him wearing the uniform of the enemy.
Especially when he had the mystery of that green flame to solve. Lately it seemed as if there were quite a few mysteries for him to solve and so close to home. As soon as he set Suzaku down in a bed in his bunker Batman removed his mask, becoming Lelouch once more. He sat down at his main computer console and drew up files from his school. Specifically about two students, Rivalz Cardemonde and Kallen Stadtfeld. Wherever they came from and how they got their powers would be a fun little case to crack.
As for what came after, he had a plan.

Author's Note: I had this idea a while back, several Code Geass characters taking DC roles, and thought I'd go ahead and give it a shot.
We have Lelouch as Batman (obviously), Rivalz as Superman, Kallen as Shazam (I couldn't really work in a Wonder Woman so I figured this might be the next best thing. Essentially the same way Superwoman in the animated film Crisis on Two Earths filled in the role of Wonder Woman's double in the Crime Syndicate when she was actually Mary Marvel's)(and she will be paired with Lelouch), Suzaku as Green Lantern (albeit the Alan Scott version for simplicity's sake), and C.C. as Zatanna.
Not every character is going to be taking on a JL role though. I'll be getting into that in future chapters. As well as more detail into the stories of the others. I thought Kallen becoming Shazam here would not only fit in with what happened in the Code Geass series but also in the traditional origin of the Big Red Cheese. And I will be sure to do my best to ensure that nothing goes to waste in this story. Whatever elements I bring up I shall execute to the best of my ability.
