Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, Highschool DxD, or any of the characters. They all belong to their respective owners. Hell, I don't even own the idea for this story.

Warning: Characters may have OoC personalities.

So, let's go ahead and get most of this started. I don't usually do a foreword, but decided that it would be best. Given that there is a lot that I have to say about the making of this story and I don't want to post all of that in some author's note. If you don't want to read, then that's okay, the first part of the story is right after this. Go check it out and I hope that you enjoy it.

A few months ago I was in a bit of a bind. I was working on a RWBY story, but I just couldn't find it in myself to write anything. I thought that maybe if I took a break, then I'd be able to get back to it. A few days turned into weeks, which turned into months. I just...I couldn't do it. I tried and I tried. Finally, I came to the conclusion to stop.

The problem was that I still wanted to keep writing, but I had nothing. No new ideas, no new settings that I could work with; for either fanfiction or my own stuff. I thought, "Maybe if I read some other works I'll think of something." It was while I was scrolling through the page for one of my favorite authors, Whitetigerwolf, that I found something: A challenge forum. I've been asked to do challenges before, but I never felt the inclination to do it before. Or it could be that the challenges I was given weren't very interesting.

But these, these were godsend to me. I scrolled through what must have been over a hundred challenges until I came across this one. I have been looking for an excuse to add to the Harry Potter DxD fandom for a while, but could never think of anything without it sounding cliche. So, I want to give major thanks to Gabriel Herrol for posting this challenge. Seriously, thank you!

Now, I've been debating about posting the rules of the challenge for a while now. I wasn't sure if there was some unwritten rule that said I had to, but I still decided to. If only because I think too many people will be curious about what I'm doing and what I'm not doing. So here we go:

Back in Black.

Harry's parents are James and Lily Evans Potter. Everyone knows that. But what if everyone happened to be wrong? Lily Evans and James Potter were no saints, and after a bad fight at the beginning of their marriage, Lily storms out to go and drink her sorrows away. There she encounters a mysterious and seductive stranger. One thing leads to another and the next morning, she wakes up with the mother of all hangovers, stark naked and alone in a motel room. "Oh bugger..."

Requirements:

- Crossover with High School DxD. (Obviously)

- Harry (or Fem!Harry if you wish) must be born as a Nephilim Hybrid. (I'll stick with male Harry for this one.)

- Harry's birth father must be a Cadre level Fallen Angel in terms of power, even if not official rank. (Accepted)

- Due to having been raised in a Catholic household, Lily must refuse to abort the baby no matter what anyone says on the matter. Not even James would succeed in convincing her to change her mind. (I mean, I think she would refuse abortion either way, but accepted)

- The Wizarding World must be largely segregated from the other factions, and are either unaware of their existence or simply arrogant enough to believe themselves superior to them. (Accepted)

- If Harry's birth father knows about his existence, he must present himself to the protagonist sometime during his teen years. What happens next is then up to the author. (The father does not know. So this will be fun.)

- If the Governor General of the Grigori involves himself and manages to recruit Harry, he should try to find out which of his subordinates sired the new kid by asking them to donate genetic samples for paternity tests. (Accepted)

- Harry shouldn't be more powerful than a middle class Devil at the beginning of the story. (I'm honestly putting him at low class for the beginning.)

- It is up to the author when Harry's Fallen abilities awaken and how much is instinctive and how much must be trained. (While instinct is important and makes some things easier, all abilities must be trained to some degree.)

Forbidden:

- Harry having a Longinus Sacred Gear. (That's fine by me. I'm kind of tired of the Longinus to begin with)

- Harry in a romantic relationship with a male (unless the author is doing a Fem!Harry fic) (Also fine by me.)

- Harry the Emo Doormat. (I...don't know about this one. I mean, I don't really know how to judge if my character is like that. So, I apologize if it happens, it was not intentional.)

-Excessive Bashing. (I don't plan on bashing anyone. But the story is mostly from Harry's point of view, so events are kind of skewed.

- Sona's Student Council President persona intimidating Harry if he attends Kuoh Academy. (No problem)

-Harry forsaking his Fallen Heritage. (Also no problem, but he will keep it hidden at times.)

Highly Recommended:

- Advancing the Harry Potter timeline to make it fit the High School DxD one. (Okay)

-If it is a post-Hogwarts timeline, Harry should start a rather successful Treasure Hunting business. (Sadly, this is not post-Hogwarts, because this sounds fun.)

- Harry dropping out of Hogwarts after Sirius' death, washing his hands of the Wizarding World and enrolling in Kuoh Academy in Japan after cramming his missing years of regular schoolwork and learning Japanese. (Somewhat accepted, but circumstances differ.)

- Sirius emancipating Harry during his Will reading. (Declined)

-The Light magic flowing in Harry's veins purge the Horcrux in his cursed scar early in life. (Reasoning is accepted, but the timeline might not be what you meant.)

- Light magic being able to destroy Horcruxes. (Accepted)

Recommended:

- Harry refusing many offers to become part of a Devil's Peerage. (Accepted)

- Harry harnessing the ability to teleport in the way that Fallen do relatively early in his life. (Declined)

- Harry vaporizing quite a few Dementors with the liberal use of Light Magic. (Maybe)

- James blood adopting Lily's child as his own so that Harry can inherit House Potter. (Accepted)

- Hedwig being the Greek goddess Athena in disguise. (Declined, but that sounds awesome. I can already see it as an independent avatar-type sacred gear.)

- Fawkes bonding with Harry after Dumbledore's Death. (Declined)

Optional:

- Lily surviving Voldemort's Halloween visit at Godric's Hollow permitting her to raise her son herself. (Declined)

-Animagus Transformation. (I'm not sure. Honestly, I can't see the ability ever coming up.)

- Harry x Rias Gremory. (The fact that he doesn't fawn over her like the majority of the school could pique her interest.)

-Harry x Kalawarner.

-Harry x Rossweisse.

-Harry x Daphne Greengrass.

-Harry x Fleur Delacour.

-Harry x Multi. (The pairings are mostly undecided, but I am leaning towards multi. If there is enough demand, then I will post the confirmed girls in a future author's note.)

- If Harry attends Kuoh Academy, the Perverted Trio should become his favourite targets for prank spells and Weasleys Wizard Wheezes's joke products. (I can see it, but haven't thought that far ahead.)

-The reason as to why Harry would go to school all the way to Japan can be because Kuoh Academy is known as a very prestigious establishment in the education domain. (Declined. He will be going to Kuoh, but for a different reason.)

There are the rules and I hope that you guys are as excited for this story as I am. I mean seriously guys, I was stuck in the planning phase for this story for like three months. I'm just glad I finally got a chapter out. Speaking of which, I'm sure that you guys are wondering about the update schedule.

That's pretty tricky to answer. Not because I don't have one, but because I have a hard time containing myself. Realistically speaking, I would like to post on the 15th of each month. I know that's a slow schedule, but it offers me plenty of time to write, edit, and rest. However, I also get impatient if I finish a chapter early. So my promise is this: There will always be a chapter on the 15th of each month. No exceptions, unless something goes wrong in my life. I'll cross my fingers that it doesn't. But you may get extra chapters.

Also, please leave reviews. They help me by letting me know what you liked and didn't like. And honestly, I love communicating with my readers.

My only rule about the reviews is that there are no flames. You can criticize my work and even dislike it. I just ask that if you post your dislike, that you explain what it is that caused your problem. I can't promise that I'll fix it if it compromises the story.

With that said, go on and enjoy the story.
