Sup guys? Light Wolf here, back with another story, this one about X men! Enjoy the 800-word chapter. I don't own X men. Marvel and a few others do.

Mutants weren't given much chance in life… to a lot of people? they were trash, freaks, monsters who should be either depowered or shot and thrown away.

That was part of the reason he was driven into the swamp of Florida. He retreated into the murky waters, full of snakes and alligators.

All creatures who could easily slaughter regular humans, they were monsters to people.

To them? he was the monster, they wouldn't come near him… they COULDN'T come near him, they wouldn't last much longer than the Humans.

The boy wanted to cry, but he was too scared to even do that… more dust brushed by him, swirling around his body like a shield.

He was a devil, at least by Humanity's standards.

(X mansion)

Charles Xavier didn't miss much when it came to emotions, it was kind of impossible to ignore something as busy as a walking dust storm.

How did Xavier know that this was a mutation? Besides Cerebro? The fact that a mutation was something that got in the news quite often… he sighed as he knew people loved to stir up how Mutants were spawn of the devil and how they needed to be thrown away.

The boy wasn't even older than 16 and they bullied him… because he wasn't them, because he was different, and people hated different.

"Logan?" Wolverine cracked his neck as both watched the news.

"He's going to get killed in there." Charles raised an eyebrow, knowing his longtime friend was clearly joking.

"It's not the animals I'm worried about… you know how our kind are treated. I'll wait for you and deal with the rest, old friend." Logan rolled his eyes but nodded.

As… Logan, as Logan was? He wasn't heartless, the kid suffered like all mutants did. He clearly didn't have control of his powers, and instead of any sort of hospitality or warmth? They chased him into the swamp to get slaughtered, all probably for their sick form of amusement.

Did Logan think all humans were prejudge against mutants? No, but it was clear they wouldn't stop hounding him till he perished or fought back.

They wanted blood, and they wouldn't stop trying to force the reaction they wanted from the kid.

It almost reminded him of… no, she wasn't around at the moment. Logan chuckled and went to get other reinforcements incase a problem arise.

Having enhanced senses, indestructible claws and a healing factor didn't make him able to chase the kid all over the swamp if need be.

That and despite his experience with kids? He wasn't the best if it came down to 'babysitting.'

(With the mutant)

The boy stood with dust swirling around him, ripping pieces of dust from the ground and striking everything around him. it cut at the water, at the ground around him.

Everything around him was diced up, he had seen it destroy buildings before. It caused enough damage to cities, it hurt people.

And yet the jeers still came 'monster, freak, devil…' repeat, 'abomination, demon, mistake.' He blocked it out, but it forced tears from his eyes, tears that couldn't even be seen with the dust swirling around like snow.

Dirty, harmful snow. He crushed his arms against his frame.

The jeers didn't stop, but the enraged animals seemed to tolerate the racist jeers less then they did the intruder to their territory. They snapped at the boat; an alligator forced the boat away as the rednecks retreated. Their inability to bully something that couldn't fight back hindered and thus made them leave.

"Hate. Dirty monster, hate…." He muttered, too wrapped up in his own thoughts to stop his miserable state.

He wrapped his arms and legs around his body, crushing them closer and closer like the snakes that sat in the water just around the small island he took over.

He didn't even begin to notice his consciousness was slipping away, a result of strain of his power on his body.

If he had been consciousness enough, he would have known his powers shut down when he passed out.

If he hadn't been saved by the plane known as the Blackbird? He'd be dead, a corpse rotting in the swamp.

He would go on to be known as Dust Devil… a proud member of the X Men.

Author notes
