It was an overcast day, much to Majima's dismay.

'Ah hell, I was hopin' we could have some good weather for once…' he sighed, looking over at Kamurocho Hills, progress was slow. He saw some of his guys gathered around the base of it.

"Hey boss?" one of the guys asked.

"Eh?" Majima perked up.

"We… found a kid. He won't come near any of us, but he's yelled that he's the 'Mad Dog'." the guy laughed.

Majima smirked, "Lemme give it a try." he chuckled confidently.

He strode into the construction site and saw a little boy, a rough blade made from a pair of scissors perched in his right hand, the blade was crudely serrated, an even cruder grip was bound with duct tape, the boy's hair was a messy shock of brown, his strange blue eyes following Majima's movements. His clothes were torn and a little too big for him.

"Hey there, my boys and I own this place." Majima greeted, a placid smile lining his face.

"Step off, bad guy! You face the Mad Dog of Kamurocho Hills!" The kid yelled, bringing his knife to bear.

Majima noticed that the kid was awfully thin, he knelt, "Hey… put the piece down, kiddo, I'm not gonna hurt you… What's your name?" he reassured.

"Kazuo." the kid answered.

Kazuo tightened his grip on the knife, his other hand tightly holding a pendant around his neck.

Majima heard a loud growl coming from the boy's stomach.

"You're hungry, ain'tcha?" Majima questioned.

Kazuo nodded, putting the knife in his oversized coat.

"The name's Goro Majima." Majima greeted. Kazuo meekly nodded, clenching the pendant in his hand.

"So? You comin' or what?" Majima drawled. Kazuo grabbed Majima's hand, making the 'former' yakuza member flinch a little, he thought he'd never have a kid or even be near one.

"Mr. Goro? Why do you have an eyepatch?" Kazuo asked.

"I got in a scrap, and a tonto took it out," Majima said, watching as Tazuo's expression changed to one of wonder.

"Whoa…" the kid breathed in awe.

Majima walked out of the construction site. The others looked at the kid in surprise, he seemed content holding the hand of their crazy boss. His razor blade smile didn't scare him?

"Boss! Are we gonna work?" one of the guys called.

"Not today, weather's shit anyway…" Majima sighed.

"Right! Alright, guys, pack it up!" one of the guys yelled.

Kazuo and Majima were walking along the sidewalk, weaving through the traffic. Kazuo looked up at Majima, he was staring across the way at a man in a gray suit.

"KIRYU-CHAN!" Majima squealed, running towards the man with Tazuo in tow.

Kiryu turned toward Majima's voice, "Oh, hey Majima." he greeted.

"How's my favorite best rival doin'? I was lookin' for ya anyway… can we go somewhere quiet?" Majima asked.

"Sure." Kiryu agreed. Kazuo was hiding behind Majima throughout the entire exchange, unsure about Mr. Goro's relationship with this Kiryu guy.

They sat at a small ramen joint in a cozy little nook at the back of the store.

"So… you just found this kid hanging out at Kamurocho Hills?" Kiryu surmised, looking at Kazuo, who was busy shoving pork and noodles into his mouth.

"Slow down, Kazuo. Yeah, that's pretty much the long n' short of it." Majima described, nudging the kid to make him slow down a bit.

"Mmm, well, I think it's best if he stays with you… he trusts you." Kiryu determined.

Kazuo smiled at Majima and put the spoon in the bowl.

'He seems to be around Haruka's age… huh.' Kiryu thought as Tazuo cheerily talked to Majima.

"What's with the pendant?" Majima asked.

"It's… my name. It just has the kanji for Tazuo, so… yeah." Kazuo shyly sighed.

"Ah… well, Kiryu-chan, see ya around, maybe we can meet up for some karaoke?" Majima proposed.

"Nah, you just keep doing what you're doing, I'm busy." Kiryu sighed.

Majima ushered Tazuo toward the entrance, "Bye, Mr. Kiryu!" Kazuo called, waving.

Kiryu cracked a smirk, 'Those two would probably be good for one another… Majima's been through too much heartbreak, even though he's tried to kill me… he seems pretty attached to the kid though.' Kiryu thought, paying the tab and strolling out.

Majima and Tazuo walked back towards the construction site, Majima was trying to figure things out in his head. Kazuo ran toward an overhang, grabbing a small black bag.

"That's all?" Majima drawled.

Kazuo nodded in response.

"Right. Okay, let's go." Majima sighed, thrusting his hand out towards Tazuo, he took it and Majima led him along. He ducked into a store to get some extra food because he would have Tazuo living with him. Kazuo was pacing outside, waiting for Majima to get done with what he was doing.

Kazuo wasn't paying attention until he smacked into another guy.

"Oof!" he grunted, falling to the ground.

"You got some real balls, boy, to mess with Takju, lord of the Dogs of Hell!" the guy he smacked into snapped.

"I-I'm sorry…" Kazuo stammered. Taku sent his fist plowing into Tazuo's face. In Kamurocho, fists meant more than words, Kazuo went flying.

"KID! There you are! You damn near gave me a heart attack…" Majima called, skidding to catch Tazuo before he hit the ground.

"Mr. Goro, I'm sorry." he sighed, holding his bruised cheek.

"Hey, it's okay, just step back," Majima growled, helping Tazuo get back on his feet.

"Who in the hell are you?" Taku snapped.

"You haven't heard of me?" The Mad Dog huffed, honestly surprised. He drew his dagger, and the man brought his fists back up. A crowd had gathered to watch the coming melee.

"I just LOVE a good show, don't you?" The Mad Dog laughed, his single eye glittering in maniac joy.

"Shut it!" Taku yelled, rushing Majima in an attempt to take him by surprise.

Majima sidestepped, slashing Takju on the face with his dagger. Taku stumbled back, uttering a string of curses, he whirled around and sent a punch Majima's way.

Majima blocked the attack with the flat of his blade and kicked Takju straight in the stomach, crumpling the bigger foe to the floor. Then, with practiced precision, Majima cut a smooth 'M' in the back of Takju's coat.

"Alright, Goromi!" A citizen yelled.

"Yeah!" another yelled. Majima sheathed his blade and bowed, smiling winningly. He was quite the fighter and the showman, and he relished the challenges that a good fight would bring him.

Kazuo ran forward, his strange blue eyes sparkling with admiration.

"Whoa… Train me to fight like you!" Kazuo squealed as Majima chuckled dryly.

"Okay kiddo, let's go home." Majima laughed, feeling Tazuo's hand grab his.

Majima didn't flinch this time.

And now, Kazuo felt like he was right at home with the one-eyed eccentric.

Goro Majima adapted well to being a father. He wasn't bad at it, a little rough and tough, but his lil' pup could take it and roll with the punches. Kazuo was a quiet little kid, but one thing stuck out to his father.

His obsessive drive for being a hero like all the rest of the kids his age. The Age of Heroes hadn't stuck in Kamurocho due to Majima and Kiryu, they never took licenses and the others didn't either, they didn't need them.

But Kazuo Majima wanted to hit the Big Leagues, he wanted to take on Mustafu, and beyond that, Tokyo. Goro was worried, he didn't want his pup to be hit with the harsh reality that heroes aren't all they seem to be.

But, as a father, he moved to Mustafu to see if his son would be able to take it. Goro had mellowed and they moved into a row of apartments, he was very protective of his kid. This move happened a year after Tazuo came into his life.

"Taz, promise yer ol' man this," Goro said, kneeling to his son, who was about to head to school.

"Yeah?" Kazuo asked, his blue eyes meeting his adopted father's brown eye, he felt his father ruffling his hair.

"Have fun, an' take no shit," Goro advised, "If ya see bullies, y' gotta bare yer teeth, but respect goes a long way, y'don't wanna end up with a single eye, do ya?"

Kazuo shook his head no and Goro hugged him tightly, "Get goin', Mad Pup," he said, and he watched his kid go, sighing. He saw a green-haired woman watching her little boy go too. Her name was Inko Midoriya.

They made eye contact, "Oh! You must be my new neighbor," she stated.

"Uh… yeah, I am," Goro answered, expecting Inko to bring up the fact that he looked like a Yakuza.

"Kids grow up fast, don't they? My Izuku… he says so much about All Might…" Inko sighed.

"Welp, I'm my pup's hero as far as I'm concerned, found 'im at a site o' mine and… well, let's say everythin' since then's history," Goro drawled.

"I'm Inko Midoriya," Inko stated.

"Goro Majima, my kid's name is Kazuo, I ain't too big on heroes," Goro said, he internally was reminded of Makoto, 'Wonder how she's doin'... with all these heroes crawlin' around…' he thought, seeing Inko looking at his eye patch.

"Majima-san? What's with the eye patch?" Inko asked.

"Ahh… don't like talkin' about it, got a bad road behind me, so I decided to move here to restart," Goro explained. Inko nodded. He thought about how Tazuo was doing.

Kazuo and the green-haired kid walked side by side.

"Do you like All Might?" the kid asked.

"Nah, Dad's not too big on heroes, but if I were ta pick my favorite, it'd be my Dad," Tazuo stated, "He's cool!"

"Really?! What's his quirk?" the kid gasped.

"He gets this awesome purple aura and… he bashes guys real hard! BOOM! BAM! BA-BA-BA! HEEEE-YAHHHHH!" Kazuo did a scarily good impression of his Dad mid-fight, laugh, and all. The kid smiled.

"So cool…" he breathed.

"Damn right he is!" Kazuo snapped, smiling.

"My name's Tazuo Majima, my dad's Goro Majima," Kazuo said.

"My name's Izuku Midoriya… my mom's pretty cool, too…" Izuku mumbled.

"Well… I don't know my Mama, but… I'm sure yours is awesome!" Kazuo cheered, raising his fist, "One day, when I get my quirk, I'll GET TO THE TOP!"

The pair quickly became inseparable. When they got to school, they ran into another kid with ash-blond hair and reddish-brown eyes.

"Hey there, Izuku," he greeted.

"Kacchan! I made a new friend! His name's Tazuo Majima!" Izuku cried, showing him off. Kazuo looked a little uncomfortable, he didn't like the look this Kacchan was giving him.

"So, you're the new kid, what's your quirk? Izuku here hasn't got him yet," Kacchan said.

"I ain't got mine either…" Kazuo mumbled.

"Whaddya think it's gonna be?" Kacchan asked, "I hope mine's super-cool!"

"I… dunno… never knew my real Mama or Dad, my Dad now doesn't exactly have a normal quirk, but… I hope it's as cool as my Dad's…" he sighed. Later on in class, Tazuo daydreamed about what quirk he'd get, maybe something cool like wings or a transformation into some big monster.

"Majima-kun… Majima-kun… MAJIMA-KUN!" the teacher snapped, wapping him on the head gently with her quirk. Which was summoning a giant fan to bean unruly students over the head with.

"Bwuh! Oh, uh…" Kazuo looked over at Izuku's page and flipped to it, reading it out slowly, word by word, making it perfect. The others seemed to snicker. Kazuo wasn't a bad student, just easily distracted.

At recess, Tazuo sat alone. He wasn't too social aside from Katsuki and Izuku being his only friends, he curled into a little ball, feeling a little down. He trusted his Dad's advice. Yet… he saw Izuku trying to get a ball out of a tree.

Substory.

For a Buddy.

Kazuo got up and ran over to his green-haired buddy. Izuku had little tears in his eyes and Tazuo looked up at where the ball was. It was stuck up pretty high.

"I… I accidentally threw the ball up too high…" Izuku sniffled. Kazuo smiled widely, patting his friend on the shoulder.

"Don' worry! Lemme get it!" Kazuo assured, getting into a ready stance, clambering up the tree with some level of skill. His dad taught him that he could be a hero doing simple things. For all of Goro's faults. He made it a policy that Tazuo could help anyone no matter who they were.

Quirk or no quirk, hero, or villain. It didn't matter. Kazuo got the ball and tossed it right back to Izuku. He caught it and Tazuo smiled widely.

"YEEE HAWW!" he yelled, jumping out of the tree and landing on his butt. He hopped up with a crazy smile just like his dad's.

Goro showed up to pick up Kazuo. He noticed that he was talking animatedly to a little green-haired kid and a blond-haired one, too. He smiled, 'Barely even a day in and he's makin' buddies? Next thing I know he's gonna be bringin' a girl by…'

"Hey, dad! These're my friends, Izuku and Katsuki!" Kazuo declared, running up to his father with a big grin on his face as the two other boys looked up at him. The green-haired boy gawked at the former Yakuza-turned-Papa.

"Whoa… no way…" the other boy breathed, "How the hell'd you lose the eye?"

"That's a long-ass story, kid, now c'mon Taz! Let's go out for ramen!" Goro exclaimed, holding his kid's hand and leading him away. Kazuo followed but a little slowly. Goro noticed his son's slowing steps.

"Taz? You okay, Pup?" he asked.

Kazuo nodded, and Goro got even more concerned. It wasn't like the little guy to not tell Goro things. He sighed and knelt. Brown eye staring into blue. His expression was serious.

"Kiddo, you're not okay, what's with ya?" he wondered.

"Dad… do you think… I'll even get a quirk?" Kazuo asked.

"Hell if I know… but I do know this, you survived on your own before I found ya, right? That takes real balls, y' know that?" Goro sighed, ruffling his son's hair.

"Let's go eat," he stated, taking his son's hand again.
