It was a day in Stoneybrook that Stacey would never forget. Her birthday was six days away but she woke up to the smell of strawberry pancakes (her favorite) and there was a gift for her on the kitchen table.

"Mom what's going on," Stacey asked, "My birthday isn't until next week."

"I know honey," Mrs. Mcgill said, "I just wanted to get you a gift."

"And make strawberry pancakes? Wait. Are you and dad getting back together?"

Mrs. Mcgill shook her head laughing.

"Stace, your father and I love each other. That will never change, but we're much better off as friends then we are as a married couple. No, this is just because I love you."

"What did you get me," Stacey asked..

"Open it and see," Mrs. Mcgill said smiling.
Stacey opened the gift and gasped.

"You got me a glucotrack? Mom that's like $2,000," she exclaimed hugging her mother.

"Yeah well I had some extra money," Mrs. Mcgill replied, "and I felt like getting you a gift."

"How did you get the extra money," Stacey asked.

"I got a bonus," Mrs. Mcgill explained.

"That's so exciting," Stacey exclaimed, "What are you going to do with the rest of the money?"

"I already spent it," Mrs. Mcgill replied, "on the glucotrack."

"You spent your entire bonus on me?"

"Of course," Mrs. Mcgill nodded, "There's no better way to spend my bonus then on you."

Stacey's phone rang.

"Sorry mom," Stacey said, "I have to answer this."

It was Kristy.

"Hello?"

"Hey Stace," Kristy said pleasantly, "I'm calling a meeting of the BSC after school today at 5."

"Okay. I'll be there. Now I have to head to school or I'll be late."

Stacey had a GREAT day in school. She got a 100% on her math test. She got a B+ on her English assignment. The café was serving pizza. It was her favorite. She did have a few lows and one high that afternoon. That was easily fixed by adjusting her pump.

After school Stacey went to Claudia's house. She walked into Claudia's room. The lights were "off and when she came in everyone yelled "Surprise!"
Stacey jumped and laughed.

"You guys," she said, "This is so sweet. This kind of sweet I'm allowed."
Everyone laughed.

"We got you presents," Mary Anne said

"Okay am I dying or something," Stacey joked.

"Well actually," Claudia said, "I won't be in the BSC after September. I got accepted into the Davinci High School for Art. in NYC"
Stacey's face fell. In less than a year her best friend would no longer be in Stoneybrook. After awhile of them all talking about that Kristy handed Stacey her gift. It was a silver dollar. Stacey collected silver dollars.

Claudia's gift was an art set. Stacey loved art as much as Claudia did. That was how Claudia and Stacey bonded. Mary Anne gave Stacey a Binkie Monkey.

"This is so cute," Stacey said..
Dawn had gotten Stacey a book.

"I love books," Stacey said, "and I've never read this one before."

"To Stacey," they all said cheering.
