Eggsidentally In Love

By Lightningstrxu

Weiss was exhausted, her feet sore from standing on them all day. A bell jingled as she entered the building. A young blonde man sat at the desk, slouching his day away. His eyes flickered in her direction. Immediately his back straightened.

"Belcome wack, I..I mean welcome back, Miss Schnee." he said, his voice dripping with false confidence. "Are you here to pick up your Pokémon?"

"I am," she replied, a little smile coming across her face. It had been a long hard day waiting tables, but she was done and finally she'd be able to see all her adorable little babies. "May I be let out into the yard please?"

"Yeah.. Yeah of course." he pushed a button on the desk. "Hey Saph, Wei- Miss Schnee is here to pick up her Pokémon."

Weiss noted his little slip, almost calling her by her given name before correcting himself for professionalism. She supposed she could understand the slip up well enough, she was here nearly every day on a first name basis with the proprietors of this daycare, Saphron and Terra. She had seen the young man working with the Pokémon here before, but this was the first time she had seen him work the front desk instead of Terra.

"Yeah, go ahead and send her back." Saphron's voice came over the intercom. "I've got something to tell her."

Something to tell her? Weiss walked briskly past the blonde. Had something happened to one of her pokemon? Was one of them hurt? Weiss' mind raced as she opened the door to the backyard. A large expanse of lush green grass greeted her. "Hey Weiss!" Saphron waved happily, surrounded by several happily playing Pokémon.

"What happened? Are my Pokémon okay?" she asked in a concerned tone. Her fears were partially abated when her vision was filled with pure white fluff and knocked to the ground. Pinned down by one of her own Pokémon. " Stardust!" she smiled her hand coming up to pet her prized Atlesian Ninetails. A pink ribbon poked her in the face she laughed and reached out and pet the offending Sylveon. "Yes, mama missed you too Pixie." she was relieved to see her Pokémon were alright, she was worried... "Where's Guinevere?" she sat up pushing Stardust off of her.

"She's right here." Saphron called motioning behind her. It was she hadn't noticed but peeking nervously out from behind the caretaker was her Gardevoir. "She's just hiding."

"Is she okay?" Weiss stood approaching the shy psychic type who shrunk down hiding behind Saphron. "What's wrong Guinevere?"

"Go on Ginny," Saphron reassured. "You can show her."

"Gar." Guinevere whispered, slowly the Pokémon left its Saphron shaped sanctuary and shuffled towards Weiss who watched confused, her Gardevoir was never this reserved, if anything she had all the fire she was too afraid to let loose, what could possibly be wrong, what could make her so timid in nature. That was when she saw it, the large object cradled in the Pokémon's arms. White and covered in a green spot pattern.

"Is that what I think it is?" Weiss asked hesitantly. Gardevoir nodded, being telepathic she knew exactly what Weiss thought it was. Her vision blurred, her head felt light as the room began to spin. Before the wave of dizziness could fully take her, she couldn't shake it. Her Guinevere, her precious little Gardevoir.

Had laid an egg...

######

"Is she okay?" a voice called, it sounded distant.

"She'll be fine, she's just had a bit of a shock." another voice replied to the first, it sounded like Saphron, Weiss noted. "Anyone would be finding out their Pokémon suddenly had an egg. I'm surprised you're not more freaked out considering, since it's your Pokémon's egg as well."

Upon those words leaving Saphron's lips Weiss' eyes shot open as she sat up in one sharp movement. Vision blurry for a moment she found herself on a couch inside the daycare. Across from her on another couch sat Saphron and Guinevere who was protectively clutching her egg. Adjacent to them in a chair was the boy who had been working the front desk when she had first come in. Standing behind him was a Gallade. Her face formed a scowl as her eyes narrowed on the knightly Pokémon. It didn't take a genius to put two and two together to figure out that this Gallade had put something together with her precious Gardevoir.

"You!" Weiss stood on shaky legs. "How could you let your Pokémon violate my Guinevere?" she stomped over to him. "Who do you think you are?"

"Jaune Arc…" he replied sheepishly. "And this is Lancelot." he motioned to the Gallade behind him.

"Are you proud of yourself then Lancelot?" Weiss turned her ire to the Pokémon who cowered under her fierce gaze. If she wasn't so furious the situation would have been laughable, a girl of her stature, staring down a powerful Pokémon that could cut her in half with a swing of its arms. "Taking advantage of my Pokémon, having your way with her!" took another step forward, her fury brimming. Her fingers flexed, taking every ounce of willpower to not strike the pokemon.

"Gar!" Suddenly Weiss found herself lifted into the air, she floated across the room before being placed gently but firmly back on the couch where she had started. Weiss stared into the eyes of Guinevere, her Gardevoir glaring defiantly at her.

Weiss sighed understanding immediately why her Gardevoir was irritated. She had raised Guinevere since she was a Ralts, had known her power and her defiance. Her levitating across the room was only a small display of her psychic skill. "That Gallade didn't take advantage of anything did he?"

"Gardevoir," the psychic Pokémon nodded. Of course he hadn't, Guinevere would have blasted him off the face of the earth if he had tried.

"Okay…" Weiss sighed again. "What happens now?"

"Well legally since Guinevere laid the egg, and you and Jaune aren't connected in any way such as a relationship or marriage, the egg is yours." Saphron spoke up. "However if you don't want it you can also leave it with us. But you would abdicate any rights to what is done with the egg and the Pokémon that would hatch from it."

Weiss noticed Guinevere hugged her egg protectively. "Giving it up is out of the question." she rubbed her temples in frustration. "So what would I need to do? I will gladly pay additional to watch the egg for me."

"Unfortunately it's not that simple, we're licensed for watching Pokémon, while I'm capable of watching over the egg. I can't legally watch an egg for profit. Hence why I could take the egg from you."

"Just great." Weiss spat out exasperated. "I don't have time to care for an egg, I work at the cafe all day and I've a contest to prepare at the end of the month. What am I to do?"

"I can watch it!" Jaune spoke up for the first time since she had angrily confronted him a few moments ago. "I can watch it for no charge, It's as much my egg as hers, right? So there should be no issue. We just can't take money for it."

"I'm okay with that."

"That could work, the problem with that is it's not exactly healthy for the egg to be moved around so much. Once you get it home I think it would be best you kept it there." Saphron added.

"So I guess I would be coming over to your place to babysit every day."

"I don't usually have guests in my apartment. But that is acceptable." Weiss agreed, she wasn't keen on having this stranger of a boy at her apartment all day.

"Actually if I can make a suggestion." Saphron spoke up a mischievous smirk plastered on her face. "You'll be busy working all month right, both at your job and practicing for the contest right?" Weiss nodded. "It should take about that long for the egg to hatch, once it does we can legally watch the Pokémon again. But with how full your schedule will be, how about instead of Jaune going back and forth to your place every day. He instead lives with you temporarily?"

The room went deathly quiet.

"WHAT?!" both Jaune and Weiss screamed.

######

"I still can't believe you managed to pull that off." Jaune said incredulously as he packed his suitcase.

"I know right, your sister still has it." Saphron smiled smugly as she leaned up against the doorframe. "Although it might have been the additional free month of daycare I offered."

"Right." Jaune nodded. It was a pretty good offer for Weiss, she was essentially getting two free months of Pokémon care. It was an amazing deal. Grabbing a few more outfits he packed them away. "Are you sure this is a good idea? Living with Weiss? Like why even suggest it?"

"It seemed better that way," she shrugged. "You'd have to get up early to make it to her place, by the time she gets done with work and her practice it would be late. You'd basically only be home to sleep."

"I guess…" he supposed it made sense.

"Besides, think of it like this. With you helping out she can focus on her routine for the contest." Her eyes widened. "Maybe you could help her dance routine, we all know you'd like to dance with her."

Jaune felt his face redden, Saphron knew all too well about his crush on the white haired girl, a girl who he'd now be living with. Yeah this totally wasn't a recipe for disaster. Weiss was already annoyed with him, his Pokémon was partly responsible for the situation they were currently in. This was totally going to work out. "Yeah I'm sure she'd love that."

"You never know~" Saphron said in a singsong tone, teasing him. "Look Jaune, I know this is going to be weird, and who knows maybe it won't work out. But I think this will be good for you. You've been kind of listless the last few years. A change of scenery sounds like a good idea, having a pretty roommate can't hurt either."

"You're not wrong." he sighed. "It's only a month, it will fly by."

"Maybe more if you get lucky."

"Yeah, maybe when Pignites fly." Jaune spat back sarcastically. Either way tomorrow would be a long day.

######

Weiss sipped her coffee, enjoying the silence of early morning. It would be the last time she'd be able to enjoy this kind of quiet for at least a month. In only a few hours her house guest would arrive. One Jaune Arc, her soon to be live in egg sitter.

Her grip tightened on her mug. She still wasn't sure what to feel about the situation. Barring her family she had never lived with anyone before, and now she would be living with someone who was barely an acquaintance and a boy no less.

"Gar." Weiss glanced over to Guinevere, the Gardevoir must have sensed her nervous state. She couldn't help but smile, her regal Pokémon sat on the floor next to her couch, she had gathered blankets and pillows to construct a crude nest which now cradled her precious egg.

Weiss had no clue if that was good for it, but she guessed Guinevere knew instinctively what to do. But that only reinforced why she would need Jaune with her for the coming weeks. She had no clue how to care for a Pokémon egg, much less the time.

With her long day shifts on her feet and her choreography practice as a coordinator during her few hours of spare time. The Argus Provisional contest was at the end of the month and if she could just manage even third place she'd qualify for nationals.

Finishing up her coffee she stood, placing the mug into the sink she looked around her modest apartment. While she definitely wasn't a slob, it wasn't up to the standards that she had been raised with. A few things in disarray here, and clothes abandoned on the floor in moments of exhaustion.

"I suppose I should spruce up the place, if we're to have guests don't you think."

"Gar!" Guinevere agreed wholeheartedly.

She began by sprucing up her combined kitchen and dining area, cleaning up what could go in her dishwasher, and manually washing everything else. Finishing that up she looked in her living area, seeing the clothes scattered about, she quickly went around gathering up in her arms, and she'd just toss them in her room for now and take care of laundry later.

That was when there was a knock at the door.

"Just a moment!" She set down the clothes, and dashed to the door. Opening it up she found Jaune standing, a large suitcase in one hand, and an empty fishbowl in the other. Perhaps he had an aquatic Pokémon? "You're early!" She snapped.

"Yeah...is that a problem?" He said unsure of himself. "

Weiss wanted to say yes, to say that she needed more time to prepare, both mentally and physically. To make her place more presentable. But it was no matter, best to rip the bandaid off now and get this over with. "No please come in, make yourself at home." She stood aside letting him in.

"Nice place you've got here." Jaune said as he walked in placing down his suitcase. "A lot bigger than I expected."

Weiss supposed her apartment was spacious, compared to her childhood home it was downright cramped. "It's comfortable, I need plenty of space for my Pokémon whenever I let them out."

"Why aren't they out now? Let them relax." He asked curiously. "I usually only ball them for transport."

"Normally I'd let them have the reign of the apartment, but in the interest of my sanity and an ease of transition, I decided to keep them in their pokeballs for the time being."

"Ah well if you don't mind I'm going to let mine out. Let them get used to their new surroundings. Maybe once they are you can let yours out"

Weiss was hesitant, she knew that taking in Jaune for the month would also mean taking in his Pokémon. But having a pack of strange creatures at the command of someone else, someone she barely knew...she took a deep breath. She was overthinking and being paranoid. Saphron would have never suggested this if she felt Jaune would be trouble. "Yes, you may."

"I'll do this one at a time." He went over to the sink with the fishbowl and filled it up before placing it on her table. Pulling out a pokeball he clicked the button and the Pokémon that came out was perhaps the smallest magikarp she had ever seen.

"Karp, karp!" It flopped around uselessly before being scooped up his trainer and dropped into the bowl.

"This is Sweetums." He motioned to the bowl. "Bit of a runt, but I love him." He pulled out another ball tossing it another Pokémon appeared.

Weiss' eyes narrowed as the Gallade was summoned. "Hello Lancelot." She greeted coldly yet cordially. However the fighting type Pokémon ignored her, walking past to stand protectively over Guinevere and he-their egg. As upset as she was at the situation she couldn't help but give a small smile. At least he was taking care of things. "Is there anyone else."

"Two more." Tossing another pokeball out an Umbreon came out, it looked around warily confused at his surroundings. "Hey boy this is going to be our home for a little bit." He knelt down scratching the Pokémon's head. "Weiss this is Floofles."

"Floofles?" Weiss said, her voice barely stifling the laugh that was building.

"I named him when I was four!" Jaune defended.

"Umbreon!" Floofles punctuated seeming to defend the honor of his name. Weiss supposed she couldn't judge, her oldest Pokémon was named Stardust after all.

Jaune tossed out another ball. "Pichu!" The baby Pokémon cried as it came out.

"Zappy, this is Weiss." The pichu waddled towards Weiss looking up at her adorably.

Weiss felt her heart melt. "Aww look at you." She knelt down to pet the little Pokémon.

"Weiss don't!"

A dainty hand made contact with soft fuzzy fur, before a jolt of electricity shot up her arm and she fell to the ground. As she lay there stiff as a board, she began to regret a few of her life choices.

This was going to be a long month…

Hello all, this is a new story, for those few of you who follow Chasing Gold, this was originally going to be a side plot within it with Weiss and Jaune as traveling companions. But after much thought I will be discontinuing Chasing Gold and removing it, partly due to lack of interest, and partly due to hubris on my part. I got hyped to tell a full Pokémon story and then realized that an adventure story is well beyond my wheelhouse. So I'm sticking with more Slice of Life and character based stories.

Updates on other stories, Disillusioned is not cancelled, but it is on hold until I finish Last Resort, I feel like I can only handle one big story at a time with a few smaller ones to do when the mood strikes me.

Last Resort despite its slow update schedule will be finished, I owe it to myself and most importantly all of you readers out there to finish it.

As always, read and review, let me know if you want to see more.
