I don't own Young Justice. I only own my OC, Bethany. She is 13 years old, and the daughter of Bruce Wayne and Vicki Vale. She has the power of Empathy. Her superhero name in the story is PathFinder.

I know Bruce Wayne is supposed to have blue eyes, but in Young Justice, he has dark brown/almost black eyes.

Chapter 1 - Awakening

I, Bethany Vale, am the daughter of Bruce Wayne and Vicki Vale. My mother always told me that I look a lot like my father. Just that I have her blue eyes. My long wavy black hair stops at my knees. I don't like cutting it. Tan skin, and a lean but slightly curving body since hitting puberty. I only know my father by name. My mother told me that it would be best to stay away from him since his life as a billionaire is a dangerous life. I knew that there was more to the story, but didn't question it. It hurt knowing that even though he knew about me, he didn't want to be part of my life.

At the age of five, when I started my first day of school, was the first appearance of my abilities. I was being bullied by a classmate when she shoved me into a pile of toys. I was so angry and hurt, that I had wished she felt the same. The next thing I knew, she is screaming in pain. Since none of the teachers saw what made her scream in pain, they took her to the nurse's office. The next occurrence was a few weeks later. I was on a field trip to Wayne Enterprise. Since our school was close by, we were walking to the building. I was at the back of the line, and it was a good thing that I was when I felt a bad feeling. We walked by an alley and the feeling grew immensely. So, breaking away from the group I slowly walked down the alley. As I did, I began to hear muffled cries coming from one of the nearby dumpsters. I tipped toed a took a quick peek around the dumpster and gasped seeing a dirty man on top of a young girl with blonde hair. My gasp obviously caught the attention of the girl, but the man was to busy with trying to get her clothes off. Seeing the pleading look in her eyes, I grabbed a pipe that was on the floor and hit the guy hard on the back making him let go of the girl. The girl kicked the guy between his legs and got up as fast as she can. She grabbed my hand and together we ran out of the alley and down the street to Wayne Enterprise. The stupid man trying to follow us. I then noticed that the building seemed so far away, and pulled the girl to one of the buildings. As ran up to the closest door, the man grabbed my arm. I let out one of the biggest screams I have ever had, releasing all of my fear in that one scream. The man let me go screaming in fear, and security subdued him. Some of the workers from the building came up to us and brought us inside. They gave us each a candy bar and some water as they called the police and our parents. My mother appeared 20 minutes later in tears as she ran to me. I hugged her with all my might. After checking to see if I was alright, she turned to the girl and asked if she was okay. Before she could answer a Vietnamese woman with black hair in a wheelchair entered the building. The girl stood up and ran to the woman who was crying and fussing over her daughter. She made her way to us and with watery eyes, she thanked me for saving her daughter. I stayed quiet but nodded in acknowledgment. The lady turned to my mother and told her that if they needed anything she would be there. My mother accepted the offer before telling her the same thing. As we began to leave the building the voice of the blonde girl stopped us.

"Wait!" She exclaimed. We turned and I saw her look at me with determination in her eyes. "What's your name?" She asked me.

"Bethany Vale," I told her.

"I'm Artemis Crock. Thank you for saving me," she told me.

"Your welcome," I said to her before an idea came to my head, "Do you want to be friends?"

Artemis was quiet for a moment before smiling.

"Yeah, I would like to be your friend," Artemis said making me smile.

That was the start of a beautiful friendship.

The next event that occurred was a few years later when I was at Artemis' House to hangout. I was showing her some of the contortion moves I had taught myself when we heard her mother moan in pain. Both of us ran to the kitchen to see her on the ground. Her wheelchair tipped over. It took both of us, but we managed to help her back in the wheelchair. Artemis was about to go to the house phone and call 911 when my hands, that were on Mrs. Crock's knees, began to glow. Slowly, the painful look Mrs. Crock had on her face disappeared. Mrs. Crock looked down at me in shock and wonder. Artemis came up to us and asked me how I did that.

"I don't know," I told her before falling to the ground in pain.

My legs and back were hurting. Just like how Mrs. Crock felt. Artemis looked at her mother, and her mother told her to give her the phone. Mrs. Crock called for the ambulance then my mother right after... Let's just say the doctors couldn't understand what was wrong with me. In their tests, I was perfectly healthy.

When I told her about what happened to me, at first she didn't believe me, Mrs. Crock, or Artemis. My grandmother soon entered the room and told my mother that we were telling the truth. She began to explain to us how I was born an empath. Someone who can interpret and project emotions, and in some cases take a person's pain away by taking it for yourself. That is was inherited. Passed down every other generation. She told us that she has it and that it skipped my mother. Now I have the gift, and she is willing to teach me everything she knows. When my mother gave her a look of disbelief, she gave proof by projecting a calming sensation to all of us. In doing so making the pain I had felt lessen. My grandmother then grabbed my hands and we watched in amazement as her hands glowed until the pain I felt was completely gone. It was then, that my training began with my grandmother. My mom and Mrs. Crock believed that it was best to keep it a secret from everyone. That not everyone would take my gifts well and would try to hurt me. Artemis and I agreed and my grandmother insisted that I was homeschooled until I was able to control my abilities.

More things about me are that I am very smart. Like I am a 13-year-old taking, college classes. Artemis is a little jealous of that, but she is proud of me and will always support me. I also like anything with technology. I am also a contortionist, as you may know already. I can bend my body in ways that would make people cringe. It's one of my favorite hobbies to perform at the park for extra cash. I feel it calming and it helps me think more clearly. I also carry a digital camera, tablet, phone, and notepad in a small gray backpack everywhere I go.

Now I'm going to tell you how my life changed in one day.

~ Bethany's P.O.V. ~

It was the 4th of July, and my mother and I were on vacation in Washington D.C. It was also a week since my grandmother passes away. My mother thought it would be best to visit D.C. for the holiday. We visited many sites then separated when my mother had a call about the Justice League fighting a wizard. So, my mom left me to explore on my own as long as I keep my phone on me at all times. For the day, I was wearing a black, long-sleeved leotard with jean shorts, black tennis, and my small gray backpack. My hair loose.

I was walking down a street when I saw a building on fire. Firefighters were on the scene, trying to put out the flames. I gasped as the two scientists that were stuck fell out of the window. It was then, a red and yellow blur ran past me and saved the scientists by placing them on top of the roof. The blur stopped themself from falling by holding onto the window on the lower level.

"It's what's his name. Flash Boy!" One of the firefighters called out.

"Kid Flash!" I heard the boy yelled.

Two other boys now stood next to me.

"Real smooth," the boy who I now realized was the Boy Wonder, Robin said.

"Does he always have to run ahead?" The other boy who I knew to be Aqualad said as I watched Robin quietly head for the building, "We need a plan. We-Robin?"

Aqualad soon made his way inside after safely placing the scientists from the roof to the ground with the firefighters. And with everyone's attention on the scientists and fire, I managed to climb on the fire truck and used the ladder to sneak inside also. I followed them a few steps behind, not wanting to be noticed yet. When Robin used his grappling hook to go down. His friends followed. I figured since I was already here, I should follow them. So I did and went down the rope.

"Welcome to Project Cadmus," Robin said as I got to the end of the rope.

When I did, the three sidekicks turned and were ready to attack until they realized it wasn't a villain. I gave them a smile and waved. Kid Flash was the first to snap out of it.

"Who are?! How did you get here?!" He said.

"I snuck in the building," I told them.

Robin sighed before saying, "Well, you're here already. And we can't turn back now, so I guess you'll have to come with us."

"I don't think that's wise," Aqualad said.

"No. He's right. Let's just take her. We are kind of on the clock," Kid Flash said to Aqualad before looking back at me, "Well my pretty lady, today is your lucky day."

Aqualad stared at me for a moment before stretching out his hand for me to grab. I did so and was pulled to where they are. Kid Flash then sped away.

"Kid wait," Aqualad said.

Kid Flash almost got crushed by these huge gray monster looking things, by the time we caught up to them. I quickly took out my camera and made sure to turn off the flash before taking a picture.

"No. Nothing going odd here," Aqualad said sarcastically.

We then snuck into a room where similar, yet smaller, monsters were in pods.

"Okay, I'm officially whelmed," Robin said.

We walked around the room, as I began to take notes on what I have seen so far.

"This is how they hid this massive underground facility from the world," Kid Flash said as I was taking pictures, "The real Cadmus isn't on the grid. It generates its own power with these... things. Must be what they're bred for."

"Even the name is a clue," Aqualad added, "The Cadmus of myth, created a new race by sowing dragons' teeth into the Earth."

"And this Cadmus creates new life, too," Robin said and I wrote everything down of what they were saying. Robin then went to hack a computer. "Let's find out why," he said, "They call them Genomorphs. Woah! Look at the stats on these things. Superstrength, telepathy, razor claws. These are living weapons!"

"They're engineering an army," Kid Flash said.

"For who?" I asked.

"Wait there's something else," Robin said bringing up another file, "Project Kr. Ugh! The file's triple-encrypted. I can't-"

"Don't move!" A voice cut him off.

'Looks like we're caught," I thought.

We turned and saw the hero, Guardian. What was he doing here? I put my camera and notepad away in my backpack.

"Wait. Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash?" Guardian asked confused.

"At least he got your name right," Robin joked.

"I know you. Guardian, a hero," Aqualad said.

"I do my best," Guardian said.

"Then what are you doing here?" Kid Flash asked. My thoughts exactly.

"I'm chief of security. You're trespassing," Guardian said, "But we can call the Justice League. Figure this out."

"You think the League's gonna approve of you breeding weapons?" Kid Flash stated.

Guardian actually looked confused.

"Weapons? What are you-What have I-Ugh? My head," Guardian said as I saw the horns of the little genomorph on his shoulder glow. He's being controlled. "Take then down hard. No mercy," He then said.

Robin threw a smoke bomb just as Aqualad wrapped his arms around my waist. He pushed me away when Guardian charged at us. I managed to slip threw the genomorphs and Kid Flash picked me up before running. Aqualad soon followed us. When we found Robin Kid Flash spoke as he sped to him.

"Way to be a team player, Rob," He said putting me down.

"Weren't you right behind me?" Robin said.

The elevator doors opened and we entered. Aqualad jumped in just the doors were closing. We looked up and noticed that we were going down.

"We're going down?" Aqualad asked.

"Dude out is up," Kid Flash said.

"Hello, Project Kr. It's in sub-level 52," Robin said.

"This getting out of control," Aqualad said, "Perhaps. Perhaps we should contact the lead?"

"Or the authorities," I added.

The elevator doors opened and Robin exited. Kid Flash looked at both of us with a sheepish smile.

"We are already here," he said before following Robin.

Aqualad sighed before looking at me.

"You doing alright?" Aqualad asked me.

"I'm good," I told him, "I promise."

He nodded at me before we both followed Robin and Kid Flash.

"Which way?" Aqualad asked Robin.

"Yeah. Bizzare looking hallway one, or bizarre looking hallway two?" Robin asked.

"Halt!" A voice yelled.

A genomorph spotted us and used his telepathic powers on us. So, we went to a random hallway. We managed to get threw the door that was labeled Project Kr. Robin disabled the door, and we soon found a teenage boy in a pod.

"I disabled the door. We're safe," Robin said.

"We're trapped," Aqualad corrected.

"Uh, guys. You'll want to see this," Kid Flash said.

We walked up to where he was, and seeing the boy inside I grabbed my camera again and turned on the flash to get a good picture of the boy.

"Woah," Robin said.

Kid Flash walked closer to the pod and said, "Big K little R. The atomic symbol for Krypton. Clone?"

"Robin, hack," Aqualad said.

"Right," Robin replied as he began hacking the files, "Weapon designated, Superboy. A clone forced grown in 16 weeks! From DNA required from Superman."

"Stolen from Superman," Aqualad said.

"No way the Big Guy knows this," Kid Flash said.

"Solar suit allows him to absorb yellow sun radiation 24/7," Robin continued.

"And these creatures?" Aqualad asked pointing at the little genomorphs above the clone.

"Genomorph gnomes. Telepathic force-feeding him an education," Robin said.

"And we can guess what else," Kid Flash said, "They're making a slave out... well, Superman's son."

"Now we contact the lead," Aqualad said.

But as they tried, they got nothing. No signal at all.

"No signal," Robin said.

"We're in too deep. Literally," Kid Flash said.

I looked up at the boy and noticed the horns of the g-gnomes were glowing. A bad feeling was forming in my chest.

"This is wrong," Kid Flash said.

"We can't leave him like this," Robin said.

"Set him free. Do it," Aqualad told Robin.

As Robin freed the boy I took a few steps back as I saw him make a fist. The boy opened his eyes and launched himself at Aqualad. Robin and Kid Flash tried to help him.

"Woah. Hang on Supey," Kid Flash said.

"We're on your side," Robin said.

The boy punched Kid Flash and sent him flying and crashing into something nearby knocking him out. Robin tried electrocuting him with a taser. That didn't work. The boy, Superboy, pulled Robin towards him, threw him on the ground, and began to put pressure on Robin's chest. Aqualad hit him of Robin but it was too late. Robin passed out also, and Superboy got up and walked towards Aqualad.

"We are trying to help you," Aqualad tried reasoning with him.

Aqualad managed to grab him from behind and began to shock him until Superboy jumped up and hit Aqualad on the ceiling twice. Aqualad passed out after that. Superboy then turned his attention on me. I flinched and brought my hands up in a non-aggressive way.

"Please stop. We were trying to set you free," I told him shakey, "Please."

I gasped as Superboy sped to me. Slamming me to the wall. I gasped in pain before placing my hands on his face and sending calming emotions. It seemed to work for a bit before he snapped out of it and began to choke me until I passed out.

~ No One's P.O.V. ~

Superboy opened the door for the scientists. The head scientist looked at the unconscious teenagers and patted Superboy's shoulder.

"Atta boy," he told Superboy.

A/N: Ok. This may have many errors, but I did my best.

Empathic Healing- is not actually healing a person. It's literally taking away the pain of someone, only to take it yourself.
