My name is Longclaw; I am the last of what was known as the Order. A well Order of warrior owls dedicated to preserving the peace of the island where I make my home. Though our civilisation died out I have a new duty in protecting the last 7 Chaos Emeralds.

You see my world is known as Mobius and long ago the dominant civilisation was the Echidna Empire, made up of the warrior Echidna race. Though started out fair and just, they devolved into violent and cruelty. However came the day of the Chaos Emeralds raining down. Each Chaos Emerald was a gemstone filled with near limitless Chaos energy that were unpredictable and dangerous if used foolishly and in the wrong hands.

The Echidna Empire made use of their power to expand their rule but soon came infighting and civil war broke out within the Empire. Plus a warrior known as Mammoth Mogul had permanently bonded himself to a Chaos Emerald lodged in his belly button and managed to harness the energy to create an army for himself along with another powerful relic that he acquired called the Warp Topaz.

He began absorbing the power of several Chaos Emeralds and was able to challenge the Echidna Empire. In the ensuing war most of the Chaos Emeralds were used as weapons against Mogul with him absorbing its power. The energy of several Emeralds were used to banish Mogul within his own Chaos Emerald and it fell into a portal by the Warp Topaz which was lost after the final battle.

The Echidna Empire fell into separate tribes with most of them dying out, there remained only 7 Chaos Emeralds and I took the task of gathering them all and was now their guardian. Their power would never again be used for evil.

I took on many trespassers who wanted the power, some said they wanted them for good but i couldn't' take the chance. However 4 years ago when responding to a new visitor, I was surprised by who wanted the power this time.

A pregnant Hedgehog woman who recently lost her husband on the trek there and was greatly ill, she only wanted to use the power of the Chaos Emeralds to make sure that her child was born safely. I prepared the best medicine I could and allowed the power of the Chaos Emeralds to be charged into it. She knew that she wasn't likely to make it and just asked that I take care of her child.

The child was born and unfortunately as expected the mother didn't make it. I took in the child who as a side effect of the Chaos energy born into him was gifted with great speed. I have raised the child as my own while teaching him to harness his speed and have named him Sonic...

On a sunny day in a temple on a lush green island, surrounded by podiums with 7 multi colored emerald stones was a large brown furred anthropomorphic owl wearing bits of golden armor. She was Longclaw and she was writing in her journal using a quill that was fashioned from a feather that she had plucked from herself. She heard a running sound and shook her head as she turned to see a blue blur run into the temple and bounced back after running into her. The blur was a blue hedgehog infant that got up and looked at her.

"Spent your time running around the island in the daytime, on a sunny one where someone could have seen you Sonic? I thought that we talked about this Sonic..." Longclaw chided softly as Sonic laughed it off and showed he had a bouquet of flowers in his hands while he was running.

"Come on Longclaw, I am super fast so no one could catch up even if they did see me." Sonic replied cockily as he lifted up the bouquet that he was holding for her to take happily. However the heard the sounds of figures in the trees causing concern. Longclaw seriously flew to the front of him and motioned for him to stay behind her.

Then came in red furred Echidnas wearing war masks with blue feathers and they were all holding weapons. "I am Longclaw of the Order and guardian of the Chaos Emeralds, if you seek them and their power then be warned that I will not allow them to leave this temple. If you seek to fight then be warned that I will not hesitate to fight to protect them." Longclaw warned them as the leader with his bow and arrow came forward.

"Order? Last I heard your Order is a shell of its former self and the Chaos Emeralds belong to us now. I am Pachacamac and as Grandmaster of the soon to be reborn Echidna Empire, I am warning you that we WILL be leaving with the Chaos Emeralds. We shall use them to rebuild the Empire throughout Mobius and usher in a new era for our world." The leader said introducing himself as Longclaw laughed. "Something amusing owl?" Pachacamac asked with a glare behind his mask.

Sonic was growing a bit scared behind Longclaw which she sensed as she took her wing to the back of her in order to comfort Sonic, still facing Pachacamac she replied "yes I do, you hypocritically talk about me coming from a shell of an Order while also wanting to bring about the return of a so called Empire that destroyed itself due to their own hubris. Now I give my last warning to you to leave and forget all about the Chaos Emeralds." Pachacamac angry ordered his soldiers to attack as Longclaw shielded Sonic with her wings fly high.

Sonic watched as she took their attacks head on and fought back with her wings pushing them back while doing her best to dodge their attacks. Despite her age Longclaw still had a warrior like style to her fighting and Sonic was marvelling at it. "Sonic, get the Chaos Emeralds and run out of here!" Longclaw yelled to his direction and Sonic nervously ran at his top speed to grab all 7 Chaos Emeralds from their podium.

He then ran down the temple's stairway and the Echidna noticed Sonic running down and then saw the Emeralds were gone, Pachamac ordered for them to follow as Longclaw flew up and followed Sonic's direction. Pachamac ordered his soldiers to charge after them as he aimed an arrow and fired right at Longclaw causing her to go down.

Sonic stopped when he saw Longclaw going down and then quickly got to her side hugging her while panicking with his words, "I am alright Sonic but it's not safe here, I am going to need you to trust me as we get out of here. It will be easier with your connection to the Emeralds and I need you to use them to activate something called Chaos Control." Longclaw told him and he nodded nervously.

Suddenly he got frightened when he saw the Echidnas catching up at them in a circle, Pachamac who had caught up ordered for them to attack as he charged first. "Chaos Control!" Sonic yelled frightened as Pachamac jumped after them to stop him but Longclaw grabbed a spear from an approaching soldier and stabbed him at his side. Pachamac yelled as he clutched his side and the soldiers went to check on him allowing Sonic and Longclaw to disappear in a glowing green light.

On the planet Earth, a rotund brown haired man in a black labcoat and goggles had arrived in his van to a site to investigate an energy reading. He was Dr Ivo Robotnik (born Kintobor but he recently had it legally changed) a gifted scientist who had graduated from MIT and had prototype designs for robots that he was using to conduct his research. He had taken a big grant to start his scientific research until he can get more funding and to get more resources for his experiments.

His prototype robots were not the best that they can be but with what meagre funding and resources that he had, it was the best that he was able to do. He was able to do much better with his intellect and IQ far beyond most scientists, but he had to start with what he could manage.

He had picked up an energy reading and planned to investigate and claim whatever was there before the government could get involved and claim it for themselves. One of his robots picked up a glowing red emerald stone and he used his energy reading device and saw that the energy reading was far beyond what his machine was able to measure.

Interesting...

Sonic and Longclaw were holding eachother as they saw they were now at the entrance of a cave in a forest, right next to them was the blue Chaos Emerald as Sonic went to pick it up. "Where are the other Emeralds Longclaw and where on Mobius are we?" Sonic asked as Longclaw laughed.

"Chaos Control is a very powerful transportation ability that the Emeralds can use and very unpredictable, they have been scattered after having using the ability while all of them together which can happen if not used carefully. As a failsafe I used an incation to make sure that the Emeralds would take themselves to a different world if Chaos Control was used with them together. So that is what happened, wherever we are it's not on Mobius." Longclaw explained as Sonic jumped in shock.

"This is not Mobius? But it looks like a normal forest and do other worlds have these..." Sonic questioned confused as Longclaw put her wing on Sonic's shoulder.

"I have been to other worlds with plant life like Mobius and though they are different despite how similar some are to eachother, there is even one full of giant mushrooms." Longclaw explained as Sonic muttered about not liking mushrooms.

"So what now Longclaw?" Sonic asked as Longclaw pointed to the Chaos Emerald. "Now we stay hidden as we keep this Emerald safe and we make a new life for ourselves here in this new world Sonic." Longclaw explained as they turned around thinking that as long as they made sure that this cave is empty first, and then they can make it their new home.

Sorry for wanting to do this again but this is another Sonic reboot story with much inspiration from the movie, the comics (IDW, Archie and Fleetway) and the TV shows.
