Harry stared out of the window. The sky was dark except for one star, shining brightly. For some strange reason, it reminded him of Sirius. Harry stared at the empty parchment in front of him. He really missed him but he knew that he had to let go of Sirius and move on with life.
Dear Sirius,
I miss you so much. Everything just seems dull without you. Voldemort is still laying low but I'm sure he's plotting something at this very moment. I can feel it.
Remember in my Third Years at Hogwarts while we were returning to Hogwarts from the Shrieking Shack? You asked me whether I wanted to stay with you. I was really looking forward to it. I thought I was going to leave the Dursleys forever.
I'm so sorry for leading you to the Department of Mysteries that night. I never meant to. I had this dream and you were there. Someone was casting the Cruciatus Curse on you and you were in pain. I just couldn't bear it so after I woke up from the dream, I freaked out. I asked Kreacher where you were and he told me that you were never coming back from the Department of Mysteries. I know it's still my fault. I never should have believed in that dream. I should have concentrated on Occlumency. I should have listened to Dumbledore but I didn't. If I could, I would have traded my life for yours.
Harry stopped writing. He wiped tears from his eyes.
"Sirius," he whispered, closing his eyes.
For some strange reason, he felt as though he had to go on. He just had to write this last letter to Sirius.
Thank you, Sirius for always being there for me. You were like a father to me although I only met you two years ago. You took care of me and always made me smile. My most precious possession is the Firebolt you gave me for Christmas. I never got to thank you properly for giving it to me.
I know you'll be worried about me but you don't have to worry. I'll be fine on my own. Rest in peace, Sirius.
Harry
By the time he finished, tears were streaming down his cheeks. The ink on the parchment was smudged.
"Goodbye Sirius," he choked as he burned the letter with a lighter.
"Goodbye, Harry," a voice whispered.
Harry looked up and looked around his room. He could feel Sirius's presence. Then he saw that the window was open.
"It's just the wind," he assured himself. "Just the wind."
