A/N- First of all this is my first Harry Potter fic, so please be nice and review for me! Also, in my story Harry and Hermione are already together, and if you're not a Harry/Hermione shipper/fan, then you might not want to read this, lol. However, if you want the two to get together as much as I do, then please read. There's a bit of comforting each other in this story, a bit of tears, but mainly lot's of fun and fluff. Hope you enjoy my story!

WHO NEEDS MAGIC WHEN I'VE GOT YOU?

Chapter 1

"Hermione!" Harry called out, jogging to catch up with her, his hair blowing wildly around his head as he ran along the grass just outside the perimeter of the school. He was furious, completely enraged, and as usual the cause to this would be Malfoy.

Why couldn't he keep his goddamned mouth shut?! He doesn't know anything about her, he just calls her names because she's muggle born, or because she's smart, or...or because of her relationship with me. Harry felt a pang of guilt as this last thought occurred to him, he may be being selfish, but he couldn't let Hermione go, and he had a feeling that even if he did, Malfoy wouldn't stop harassing her.

He caught up to her and grabbed her arm gently but firmly, so that she had to stop. Her cheeks were streaked with tears, and the same words kept running through her mind, Malfoy's disgusting voice echoing over and over in her head.

'You think your good enough to fit in? You may think you've found your little group with Potter and Weasly, but how long do you think they'll put up with you? The only reason you're friends now is because Harry had to be a freaking hero and rescue you from that stupid troll a few years back, and even now they only keep you around so that they can actually pass their subjects, or did you think that Potter or Weasley really cared about you? And you and Potter being an item, how long did you think that would last? Long enough to give him some more publicity since he has a new subject to talk about, before moving on to some other naïve girl? You'll never belong here mudblood, soon enough Potter will stop pitying you and abandon you, that's how it goes isn't it? Besides your pathetic muggle parents who else do you have? Maybe you should just leave before that happens, do everyone a favour.'

Tears continued to make their way down her cheek, as the words sank in deeper and deeper, until it felt like they were all that existed. A part of her was telling her not to be so stupid, not to take anything Malfoy says to heart, but another part of her was agreeing with what Malfoy said, repeating to her that Harry and Ron only kept her around because of her intellectual abilities, not because they cared about her as a friend. Or anything more, she thought to herself as she looked quickly at Harry, and then down at the floor.

"Hermione, please look at me," he pleaded softly, placing his hand that wasn't holding her arm under her chin, pushing it up until they were eye level. "Malfoy's a total jerk, we both know that. Why are you even paying attention to what he says? Your stronger then he is Hermione, I know you are."

"How? How do you know? What do you care anyway? The only reason you guys keep me around is because I can help you with your freaking homework! I can't believe I actually thought you and Ron cared about me a friend! I am such an idiot to think that could be true!" Hermione replied forcefully, successfully keeping her voice even, rather then coming out as shaky as she had feared it might.

"Is that what he told you?" Harry asked, letting of Hermione to run his hands through his hair. He hadn't been close enough to hear what exactly he had said to her, he had just turned onto the corridor as he was looking for her, when he saw Malfoy talking to Hermione in a corner. He had started to approach them but the next thing he knew Hermione had run past him and Draco was smirking triumphantly at Harry, who glared at him before running after Hermione. Harry hated the thought that Hermione could be so upset about, not Malfoy harassing her, but what lies Malfoy had told her about his feelings towards her. Harry and Hermione have been going out since the end of their fifth year, as they gotten together during the end of year holidays.

Hermione sniffed, and Harry moved his hands from his hair and put them on either side of her face, she didn't struggle, if anything she seemed almost deflated, resigned.

"Baby, that is not true and you know it! I have never once thought about you as, as some girl that I keep around so that I can keep my grades up and get her to do my work for me! Sure I ask for help sometimes, but that's because you're smart and a great teacher, and before we started dating it gave me an excuse to spend more time with you."

Hermione, who's eyes had been staring intently at the ground, looked up into his eyes after hearing the last part of what he said, the bit about wanting to spend more time with her. She took a deep breath, prepared to ask the one question that had upset her the most, the one thing that would tear her apart if it turned out to be a lie.

"When you-"her voice came out shaky and she cleared her throat, trying again. "When you told me you loved me, did you mean it?" Another few tears dripped down her face, and Harry wiped them away with his thumb.

"Of course I meant it. I would never have said it if I didn't," he said, before stepping closer to Hermione, and kissing her softly on the forehead. "You are the most amazing, beautiful, smart, caring, compassionate, sweetest person I have ever met, and I am so glad to have you in my life. I don't know what I would do without you gorgeous, I love you so much, never doubt that."

"Oh, Harry, I'm so sorry. I can't believe I actually paid any attention to what Malfoy said, usually I can just ignore him, but he said all these things to me about you not really caring about me, and only going out with me so that you'd have something new to talk about with the press. It's just, even the thought of anything like that being true made me feel sick. I... I don't want to loose you Harry, I love you too much." Hermione told him honestly, feeling ashamed for taking Malfoy's words seriously.

"Hey, come here sweetie, I know you didn't really believe any of that stuff. Malfoy's just jealous because I got the most gorgeous girl in the school." Harry replied matter-of-factly, his arms wrapped around her back protectively, while her's were wrapped around his waist tightly.

He released his grip on Hermione and took her by the hand, leading her to a more secluded area. He found a grassy spot and sat down cross-legged, pulling Hermione down into his lap.

"Now, what exactly did Malfoy say to you?" Harry asked, and behind the concern in his eyes Hermione could see the rage when he mentioned Malfoy's name.

By the time she was done retelling what had happened Harry's face was becoming increasingly redder and his whole body had tensed up. He was angry, hell, he was furious. Hermione could tell not only from his body language, but also from the look in his eyes.

"That's it," Harry muttered quietly, trying to stand up before realising that it would be a bit hard to do with Hermione sitting in his lap. Hermione seemed to sense this, but instead of getting up she turned around, so that her legs were wrapped around his waist. She felt so special when Harry got jealous or angry at other guys, whether they had been mean to her or had simply checked her out while they walking together, but as selfish as this may sound, she wanted him to stay here, with her, always with her. Come to think of it, he could very well get in trouble for doing whatever it is he was planning to do to Malfoy, so technically she was looking out for his wellbeing also, and therefore it wasn't really that selfish.

"Harry, I really appreciate that you'd want to do... well whatever it is you want to do to Malfoy because of what he said to me, and I would love to see him in the hospital wing, but I don't want you to get in trouble, and, and....." she paused slightly here. She had never really felt this vulnerable before, well she had but she hadn't expressed it to anyone, and she hadn't been so attached to anyone else before, she didn't want to come off as being clingy. "I want you to stay here, with me. Please?" She finished, looking up at him when she said please. He smiled at her, before kissing her softly on the nose, and then kissing her on the mouth, more slowly. However hard he tried, he could never express to Hermione just how much he loved her through one kiss, it was impossible. You just couldn't fit that much love into one kiss, but never the less, he always tried, and Hermione loved how sweet and full of love those kisses were, whether they managed to portray exactly how much he loved her or not.

"Of course I'll stay with you, there's no where else I would rather be. Besides, I can always beat up Malfoy tomorrow," he told her with the mischievous grin that she loved so much, it was the grin he would give her when he has a surprise planned and won't tell her what it is, or when he's about to tickle her, causing her to laugh and giggle continuously, while begging him to stop in between breaths.

Hermione smiled at him, making his heart soar. God, how he loved that smile. It was so sweet and cute, and he loved being the one to make her smile like that. He knew that some of her smiles were reserved for him, he never saw her smile the same way to anyone else, and he also had smiles which were for Hermione, and Hermione only. She kissed Harry gently on the nose like he had done seconds before, and turned around, back to her previous position with her back against his chest, her head resting on his shoulder.

He brought his arms around her waist and gently placed his hands on her stomach, her hands automatically moving themselves to rest on top of his own. He began to place soft kisses on her neck, and she picked up one of his hands in her own and brought it to her lips, kissing his palm. When he had worked his way to the bottom of Hermione's ear he whispered into it, and told her the same words for about the hundredth time.

"I love you, beautiful."

"I love you too, gorgeous," was her reply.

A/N- So what do you think so far? This is one of those sort of comforting the other tearful chapters but I promise you the next chapter has no tears except from Hermione laughing too much, and there is so much fluff it's probably ridiculous. So if you all press the little button in the corner where it says, 'submit review' and let me know what you think, I'll be eternally grateful, and I'll put up the next chapter for you. Thanks everyone! (
