Thank You, Brother

Summary: Seto thinks about how Mokuba always stayed by his side, how he had always given Seto a reason to live. But Seto had never said thank you...until now.

Disclaimer: I wrote this story for my brother's sixth birthday... that is today!! The 24th of July!! When my brother gets older I might let him read this...hehe.

Seto watched Mokuba playing with his friends. Friends...now that's one thing Seto
did not have. But now that he thought about it, Mokuba had not only been the best
younger brother anyone could ever have, he also had always been his friend.
Mokuba had always stayed by his side, through thick and thin, and for some
reason chose to stick up for his big brother.

Today, the 24th of July was Mokuba's thirteenth birthday! For weeks Mokuba
begged for a party, and then the last week he begged Seto to change his mind and
allow Joey to come, too.

"Brother! Look what Yugi got me!!!" Mokuba held up a box of dueling cards,
grinning madly. All that Seto gave him was a nod. Mokuba turned back around,
and then started laughing at something that Joey had said. Seto rolled his eyes.
'Why did I allow Mokuba to convince me to invite the mutt?' Seto thought.

As the party slowly came to an end, many hours later, Mokuba complained to
Seto about having a stomachache. So Seto decided maybe a nap would
help.

Mokuba slowly walked up the stairs to his bedroom, holding onto his brother's
hand. It was nearly nine o'clock, and the only reason Seto let him stay up this
late was because it was his birthday. Mokuba inwardly smiled, he was so
thankful to have such a wonderful brother. In fact he thanked God every
single night.

As they arrived to Mokuba's bedroom, he quickly changed and jumped into bed,
allowing Seto to tuck him in. Right before his older brother could leave he
grabbed his hand, and whispered, "Seto, will you please stay with me until I
fall asleep?" Seto hesitated, but when he saw his little brother's pleading look he
gave in with a sigh of defeat.

Mokuba smiled, and closed his eyes. Seto gave a rare smile, knowing no one
was watching.

As Seto stroked his brother's raven locks, Mokuba's breathing slowly evened
out. And then Seto knew he was asleep.

Hours later, Seto still sat beside his little brother. But this time he was just watching
him. He looked so innocent. Much like Seto use to look like...until Gozaburo came
into his life. Seto closed his eyes, and shook his head. He was not going to think
about his stepfather, it would just depress him. Instead he thought about all the
times his little brother had been there.

He loved Mokuba. Mokuba was the reason for his living. And if anything ever
happened to his little brother, he would surely kill himself. Seto would not be
able to live on. He would feel guilty that he hadn't gone first.

Mokuba had always stood up for him, even when Gozaburo was the person he
had to stand up to. And Mokuba always tried to get Yugi and his friends to
believe that Seto was something more than a cold-hearted jerk. Of course
they would just laugh, but at least Mokuba tried.

Now when he though about it, he had never told Mokuba thank you verbally.
He had always given his little brother something as his thanks. But...he had
never said it.

'No time like the present.' Seto thought to himself.

He picked up his little brother's small hand, and held it to his heart. His eyes
teared up, but no tears fell. They were not tears of sadness, but of
joy.

"Thank you, Mokuba."
