Kiba ponders for a moment, and comes to the conclusion that Shino is a person whom you just don't kiss. For any reason. He's too quiet, too withdrawn, and way too mysterious to mess with.

But Kiba is proud with the knowledge that silly things like logic have never stopped him.

So when he does kiss Shino, out of the blue, early in the morning while they wait for their female teammate and teacher to arrive, he likes to think he's triumphed over some sort of unwritten rule.

And Shino lets him believe whatever he wants to believe, because - frankly - Shino knows it's quite likely impossible to dissuade the Inuzuka when he's decided to delude himself into thinking something.

So Kiba believes that he's just earned himself the leader position of the group, Shino believes that it's slightly painful to be wedged between the uncomfortably bumpy trunk of a conveniently placed tree and his teammate, and Hinata believes that suddenly being knocked unconscious by a violent explosion of blood from her nose is not the best way to start her day.
