AN: I was hungry for reviews, so here is one of my sacrifices. You know that I don't own them, so don't bother me.

"I'm heading off to bed!" exclaimed James sluggishly as he lunged himself toward the staircase.

Maybe bringing back those fifteen pints of butterbeer wasn't such a smart plan. And maybe the shots of Firewhiskey didn't help, either.

Sirius roared with laughter, swinging his arm heartily around Remus who snickered into his glass as the staircase to the girl's dormitory slid from under James. James, now a heap on the floor at the foot of said staircases, laughed also. "Oops …" he cried drunkenly.

Yes, it had not been a good idea at all, thought Remus as he suddenly felt a pleasant shiver run through his body as Sirius leaned in closer.

Finally, James retreated to the same dormitory Peter now slept in. When had he gone up, anyway?

They both sat there, not saying a word. The fire crackled soundly and Remus was pleased to feel that his butterbeer had not grown cold though it had been out a while. Taking one last thoughtful swig of the golden liquid, he set his pint down on the table beside the over-stuffed crimson plush couch. When he turned back to Sirius, he found that he had done the same and was now staring at Remus.

He suddenly noticed the flare of blush in Sirius's cheeks as a loving side effect of the butterbeer, and also became aware of the tingling in his own cheeks. But in combination to the attractive blush that tinted Sirius's highly sculptured cheekbones, there was something more … Maybe Remus was just looking too hard, but Sirius's eyes seemed … soft. There was no way to explain it; it was just there.

He was about to ask what it was when Sirius lifted his hand to Remus's cheek, leaning his face closer to him. It was comforting, for Sirius to be so gentle with him that Remus almost closed his eyes. Almost. That's when lips met. Remus felt his eyes open widely as an electric shock surged through him. Now, he had kissed a girl or two before, but this was different. This was … Sirius's musky sent and butterbeer wafted into his senses as Sirius rolled his tongue into his mouth. The only plausible thing to do, Remus thought logically, was to reciprocate. But with only a few precious seconds, Sirius pulled away slightly.

Remus felt an overwhelming feeling of emptiness wash over him. Even if it was slightly drunken stupors that lead them to where they were, it still didn't change the fact that everything about it had felt so right …

Remus also noticed pleasantly that Sirius had not pulled away completely. Remus at least allowed himself to nuzzle that lovely cheek and place his hand on the slope of Sirius's nape as his companion held him closer, stroking his cheek-bone with his thumb.

Maybe the feelings had been there all along. Maybe it would be just a whim, an experiment on Sirius's part, but Remus couldn't help but feel that his heart would belong to this canine boy forever …

They would, at least, find themselves a lot to talk about the upcoming morning.
