This is a little seasonal one-shot I came up with featuring my favourite quirky pairing: CarlAnna. Please review and leave me your thoughts, but do not flame my choice of pairing. Gracias, and happy holidays!

Disclaimer: I own nothing except what I made up. Fair enough.

Carl watched Anna carefully. Snow still clung to her dark curls as she leaned against the doorframe, observing the twirling couples. He was a little worried about her; after all, it had been very little time since the incident with Dracula, and her closest friends informed him the Princess had never fully recovered from Gabriel's attack on her.

She certainly looked fine- more than fine. She wore a dress of red silk. Her brown orbs were bright with excitement. She was truly beautiful.

Carl had been delighted when she had written to the Vatican asking Gabriel and himself to come out to Transylvania for Christmas. He had been very thrilled when she had still insisted he come even though Gabriel couldn't make it.

She noticed him staring. A wide smile lit up her face and she crossed over to where he was standing in the corner.

"Carl!" she exclaimed.

"Anna. You look... beautiful." Carl truly was overwhelmed. The beautiful woman he loved, the woman who had filled his dreams since he had met her, was paying him attention. She seemed overjoyed to have him here. His heart was racing.

"Thank you," she said, blushing. "How are you finding the ball?"

"A lot better now," Carl admitted, amazed at his own daring.

To his joy, Anna did not laugh. Instead she placed a hand on his shoulder. "I'm glad," she said quietly. She pointed above his head. "I was hoping you would stand here."

He looked up nervously, and saw that there was a sprig of mistletoe above his head. He felt his heart stop. "Err..."

"Mistletoe," Anna informed him, smiling softly as their eyes met.

Carl stepped back against the wall. He may have dreamed of this moment many times, but the truth of the matter was that he had never kissed anyone.

"Don't disappoint me now, Carl," Anna warned, still smiling. "This is all I've wanted for a long time."

She did not wait for his answer, but lunged on him, pressing her lips to his as he gave an 'eep' of surprise. Her mouth was soft and warm as he finally found bravery to kiss her back, surprised at how easy it was, at how right it was. One of his hands travelled to her hair, fingers becoming knotted in the curls.

She pulled back finally, looking flushed but happy. "Merry Christmas, Carl."

"Merry Christmas, Anna."
