Inspiring

Naruto Christmas Drabble/ Challenge

Author's jibberish: My sisters and I were inspired by the Christmas season. After the scientific selection of pulling pieces of paper out of a cup, my sisters came up with these things to include in the story: Anko, Kakashi, Rock Lee, gag gift and white Christmas.

Let the holiday crap-fest begin!

Everyone said their goodbyes by the end of the party. The guests left the celebration hall in various groups.

Kakashi stood right outside the celebration hall, listening to his team's conversation.

"How about we walk together?" the young pink-haired girl asked the raven-haired boy.

"No," he curtly replied and walked away.

Defeated, yet still a glitter of hope in her eyes, she followed him about 3 paces back, calling after him, trying to catch up.

"Sakura-chan! Wait!" a blonde boy followed quickly behind her.

Kakashi looked fondly upon his students as they walked down the dim lit street.

"Persistent, aren't they?" a female's voice came from behind him.

The silver-haired jounin turned and came in view with a pair of mauve eyes. "Anko…" he said, and then turned back to the team fading in the distance. "Yes. Yes they are," he said with a smile. He then turned and walked the other direction.

He heard Anko's footsteps quicken on the snow as she kept up to his pace. "Heading home now?"

"Aa," he affirmed. "I have to take them on a mission tomorrow."

"What does that have to do with anything? Let's have a drink!" she suggested. "Besides, it's not like you arrive on time for them anyway."

"Hm…" he trailed off.

"Come on Kakashi! Maybe it's just me, but there was not enough alcohol at the Christmas party," she grinned widely, hands in the pockets of her coat. "Let's have a couple of snacks, a couple of beers… it'll be great!"

He raised an eyebrow at her. This was the special jounin that learned under the dark sannin Orochimaru?

Yes. Yes it was.

And if he didn't know any better, it sounded as if she was asking him out on a date.

"Of course, I could go for some miso ramen right about now…"

There was something quite familiar about whatever she said, as it struck Kakashi's memory quite oddly.

"Anko-san! Kakashi-sensei!" they heard a voice from behind them.

Both jounin turned to see a boy with a black bowl cut run up to them. In his arms, he held two packages, wrapped in green wrapping.

"What is it, Lee?" Kakashi acknowledged the taijutsu master-in-training.

"Here. I want to give this to everyone. Merry Christmas!" the young man scurried away to distribute the gifts that were in his bag.

They both looked at the newly given presents. I hope this serves as inspiration, the note said that was attached on the front, for not only the holiday season, but for everyday of your life. Happy Holidays, Rock Lee.

Kakashi and Anko exchanged curious looks. "Shall we?" he invited.

She nodded and together, they ripped off the packaging. They both stared at the gift with dubious looks. Kakashi's eyebrows were raised (judging by the one that was visible at the least) and Anko's eyes were wide, lips twitching in disbelief.

Each of them was holding a glossy, framed picture of Gai, standing tall, smiling brightly, in his nice-guy pose.

…fin.

12/24/04 Merry Christmas.
