I watched as Yumi was thrown through the air towards the edge of the cliff. I saw Ulrich running towards the edge to try and catch her. In some weird way, I knew that he would. It was a matter of life and death, a time of pure pressure and Ulrich always did better under pressure. Except during tests, but that goes unsaid.
I couldn't move as I saw her fall but Ulrich was there and he was grabbing her arm, pulling her up. Vaguely I heard Jeremie telling me that Aelita was entering the tower, good job, all that junk. I sat on the ground, waiting for the inevitable devirtulization and return to the past trip. I watched as Ulrich held Yumi against him and they whispered something to each other and all I could think of was "it's about time".
It really was too.
And I was praying that Aelita took a second longer as they leaned in to each other. But she didn't and the next thing I felt was being shoved back through time and when I opened my eyes we were in the courtyard at school. Ulrich was talking with Emily and Sissi was talking to Yumi. And now he's with Yumi and Sissi's storming away angrily and their talking in hushed tones again, blushing like crazy.
"Come on," I told Jeremie. He glanced up, saw the two of them, smiled, and shut his laptop off, closing it and walking with me to Ulrich and Yumi. When we got there the bell rang and I grinned.
"Hurry up Ulrich, don't forget we have Ms. Hertz's class again!" Jeremie called. The two said good bye and walked away from each other.
As we walked into the classroom I grinned at Ulrich. "See Ulrich, Lyoko isn't always boring," I told him.
"Your right Odd, and I learned something...something real important," he replied as we took our seats. And all I could think was why didn't Aelita wait just a second more?
