Compromise
A Saiyuki Drabble

"Be reasonable, Konzen. Do you really think you can defeat a God?"

Sanzo didn't answer immediately, being face down in the dirt and all. Stifling a groan, he pushed himself up, the back of his hand concealing a dry cough. Homura stood over him patiently, flaming sword pulsing with the desire to be used.

Spitting dirt out of his bruised mouth, Sanzo managed a sneer. "God? Don't make me laugh. What kind of God wears chains? You're nothing but a second rate loser!"

The .45 came up, but Homura was faster. The back of his fist slammed into Sanzo's head, the monk gasping as he spun around where he stood. Before he could fall face first to the ground, Homura's large hand reached out and snagged the back of his robes. Pulling the wayward priest to his chest, he then draped those very chains around Sanzo's throat and pulled.

Blinking rapidly, Sanzo clawed at Homura's arm, refusing to let his gun go...no matter how useless it appeared to be against his opponent. Homura stood up even straighter, and Sanzo was forced to follow, the heels of his sock-clad feet digging grooves into the earth.

Just as he started struggling for air, Homura let the chains loosen, ever so slightly. Leaning down, he ran his lips across the golden hair that fanned Sanzo's collar. Moving up to his ear, Homura whispered, "I told you, Konzen, that one day you would be under my control."

Genjyo Sanzo laughed, wheezing. "You never said that. If you had, I would have laughed in your face then, too. And stop calling me that name, asshole." Homura just smiled and ran his lips across the shell of Sanzo's ear. Sanzo jerked his head to the side, eyes narrowing to slits and promising a world of pain. "You're insane, you sick fuck. Now let... me...GO!"

Instead of freeing the monk, Homura released his sword and tightened the chain, cutting all of Sanzo's air off at once. Gathering all the loose chain into one hand behind Sanzo's neck, the heretic God kicked the back of Sanzo's legs. As Sanzo crashed to his knees, he grabbed the wrist of the hand that held the gun and twisted, the monk's only protection slipping from his fingers.

Sanzo's vision started wavering as little dots appeared before his eyes. Homura yanked his right arm up, his sleeve sliding down to pool at his shoulder. He was gagging hard now, fighting against the strangulation. Homura stood calmly, waiting for the inevitable.

"Konzen. End this. Give me the Manten Scripture." Sanzo hung there, unable to even collapse. He did, however, have enough strength to lift his free arm and give Homura a very finely extended middle finger.

Homura laughed, throwing his head back. "Oh, my. I do like you, Genjyo Sanzo. Shall we compromise, then? You can keep the scroll, and I'll take you both."

Sanzo's eyes widened as Homura's fist descended to the back of his head. There was a starburst of pain, and then nothing. Homura loosened the chains, letting the priest's dead weight fall into his arms.

"See? This way, we both win."
